„So, just to check that I understood this well: what do you need is that detective Ian impersonate the „innocent lamb,” which will easily fall into the wolf’s paws, right?” Kan spoke out, after DooSan and Gi came to the Prosecution and, finding them all there, they told them that, for the moment, nobody should give himself away from that he knows where SolHi is or what she is doing.

„Right,” Gi told him. „Initially, we’ve planned that detective So to be the bait, but… detective Ian resulted more efficient in this, for as she entered the gym, she has been „targeted” by that guy and he made everything to get closer to her.”

„And… doesn’t seem this weird to you?” Yoon Shik said, making them all turn toward him and watch him in amazement. „Just think of this: if those guys are so well prepared, as you two say, why did he choose detective Ian then? I don’t want to say that she isn’t a girl that can drive anybody crazy or catch the men’s attention, but yet: she doesn’t look so naive to be targeted as an innocent girl that easily falls into someone’s hands.”

„Now Yoon Suk has mentioned that: I also find this weird,” Yu said.

„Wow, so glad to have such good support among colleagues,” Kan said ironically. „I thought that I was the only paranoid here and that I see problems everywhere SolHi shows up.”

„What I think is that you are exaggerating,” A Rim said. „No matter how smart those guys are, the sharks are also men, and a mini-skirt and a sweet face can make everyone lose his head. Especially with a pretty phiz like detective Ian has. She made it with you all! Just look at you: you are hovering around her like the fly around a honey jar,” she added ironically.

„Ia, A Rim, you cut it too fat!” Kan hissed her through his teeth. You forgot who are you talking about! So…”

„Ia, Ia, that’s enough,” DooSan intervened. „We aren’t here to discuss SolHi’s success with the men. Nor to have a fight. The important here is to decide how it will be better to act, just to ensure nobody gets hurt after this.”

„Here you read my thoughts,” Kan said. „That’s why I’m against the idea of SolHi playing the „soul collectors” game.”

„Come on, Kan, it seems to me that you’re exaggerating. It’s not the first time detective Ian is involved in such secret operations,” Gi told Kan, in an upset voice. „You’re defending her worse than a father defends his daughter.”

„And?! What’s wrong with this? SolHi is like a daughter to me and I am going to act as such. So, as you called me her „daddy,” I iterate that I am against her involvement in this case.”

„Yet, you didn’t mention the reason why are you against that,” A Rim murmured.

„It seems to me that Kan has his own reasons not to tell us about this,” Yu stood up for the detective, and he got from Kan a large grin, seen sketched on his face, as a reward. „And… I’ve been right. Only with seeing your bitter snout, do I realize that I’ve been right,” Yu teased Kan.

„Absolutely. Otherwise: what would you have done without me?!” Kan said in mockery. „Anyway, even if you don’t know the reason why she mustn't participate, I can just say that it might be a big problem later.”

„Why exactly? This detective operative seems very interesting to me. If Nuna…”

„Ia, Yu SuJin, pipe down! Don’t intervene in the adults’businesses,” his father chewed him out.

„Yes, yes, if you say so!”

„Anyway, I’m sorry, sombe,” Gi to Kan, „even if you disagree, I won’t give up with detective Ian’s help. This operative lasted for too long and there are too many victims already to give up on this investigation.”

„And for others not to suffer, you’ve decided to involve SolHi in this insane investigation,” Kan hissed through his teeth.

„SolHi is well prepared for acting in such situations that might be dangerous. A civil - no,” Gi said. „Do you think I hadn’t acted differently if I could? There isn’t my fault that they chose her and not the detective So, as we’ve planned, right from the beginning. With SolHi in this, we can…”

„It’ll be even more dangerous than you think,” Kan to Gi.

„Why?” DooSan intervened. „Do you think SolHi will do something wrong and because of this, the investigation will fail? If so, it seems to me that you know her very little, detective Kan. SolHi is…”

„SolHi is a woman, too,” Kan shouted. „Let’s not forget what else can the „collectors” do. I don’t want SolHi to suffer again. She just lost her mother, for Christ’s Sake.”

„All the more reasons to have more work. She’ll forget about problems, thus.”

„Prosecutor Han,” Kan again shouted. „SolHi must stay away from this investigation.”

„No, until you’ll tell us the reason why she must be out of this. Or… should I ask her?”

„You won’t dare! If you care about her, even a little bit, you won’t ever talk to her about such delicate things, prosecutor Han.”

„Delicate?! What the hell do you mean?” DooSan insisted, trying to seem calm, but the doubt was still sneaking inside his soul, for Kan wasn’t acting as he was acting for nothing.”

DooSan’s question instead got under Kan’s skin: „does it seem few to you to involve her in such a risky operative? We are talking about extortion here and… I don’t agree to be involved, for…” a text message, received by Gi, made him eventually shut up.

„Too late already. SolHi meets the guy, in the coffee shop, in an hour,” Gi said, showing them the text message received from SolHi: „sombe, the „Shy” coffee shop, in an hour. The bird is in the cage.”

„Yeah, you have definitely lost your mind,” Kan shouted again.

„Sombe, don't be so drastic! They just do…,” Yoon Suk intervened, but Kan didn't let him finish what he had to say.

„…when all this shit will tragically end, don’t come to me and complain that you didn’t listen to my words! Do what you wish! I won’t get involved in this, and… if something happens to SolHi, I swear that I’ll break your necks with my own hands. No matter the consequences,” Kan hissed through his teeth, piercing DooSan with his furious glance. After that, he got out of the room, slamming the door behind him, and that slam resounded throughout the office while his blasts, said wholeheartedly, were heard all along the hall.

Behind him instead, the others present in the office exchanged glances, for they had never seen Kan that mad before. But he was completely out of his mind at that time and… it seemed that he had a really good reason to act like that.

„Detective Kan, wait a minute,” DooSan shouted after the detective, catching up with him in the parking lot.

Kan instead didn’t stop when DooSan got closer to him, running. And, because of this, DooSan has been forced to grab his hand to stop him. Only then did Kan look at him.

„What’s going on? Why are you acting like this? Gi’s offer seems to be very logical and it can be an impulse for SolHi’s career too. As he also said: SolHi has been in such secret investigations before and she knows how to handle the situation, even if it’s a dangerous one. More than this: her involvement will help other women to…”

„Did you ask her about this? Did you even tell her what those guys do for a living?” Kan said, piercing him with his furious glance.

„I guess so…,” DooSan got rattled, for even if he was there when the „fly” approached SolHi, yet, he didn’t know if she knew all the details of that investigation.

„Then, prosecutor Han, how can you say that she’ll handle even dangerous situations if you didn’t reveal her even the basics of that information? I’ll suggest you first find out what she thinks about this, and only after that to talk about what you think.”

„I don’t understand what are you talking about.”

„I talk about SolHi, who else?! I’m sure she won’t go further in this investigation if she finds out what those guys are involved in.”

„I think otherwise. Detective Ian…”

„Then you know SolHi so few, mister prosecutor, and this even if you live with her for months already,” Kan furiously hissed through the teeth. „If you had talked to her about what happened to her in the past, then you would have known that if she gets involved in this operative, she’ll suffer and more than she suffered before, for…,” Kan, however, kept silent, as if being afraid to reveal an important secret.

„Do you see?! That’s why I don’t talk to SolHi about important things: she does exactly what you are doing right now, detective Kan. As soon as I try to find out more about her, as soon as I think that I’ve made her believe in me and to reveal me her secrets, she just prefers to keep silent and gets away, even further than we’ve been before.”

„Is it because you hadn’t been able to rope her? Neither as her boss nor as her man?!”

„Detective Kan!”

„What? Does what I said hurt your ego? If so, I won’t apologize for this. Per contra: I’m glad that I can return the favor to you at least this way.”

„The favor?! Don’t tell me that you see SolHi more than a simple colleague? That you care about her like a man and that…”

„Don’t overdo it because of your jealousy, prosecutor Han. Or what, do you think I don’t stay abreast of the fact that you are playing the game named „love” with her, even if you aren’t ready to offer your heart, too? I am aware of everything and I don’t agree at all with the fact that you dragged SolHi in this dangerous and stupid game.”

„I’m not playing with her.”

„Allow me to think differently. And… regarding your foolish Irish bull that I have feelings for SolHi: I assure you that the same fake love you think you feel for her while being next to her blinds you and makes your nose smell each time a man is hovering around her.”

Suddenly, DooSan grabbed Kan by the collar, squeezing the cloth while his eyes looked like lit embers: „do you think you know everything? Do you think that you are the only one who cares about SolHi? If so, you are so wrong because I…”

„Then… prove it!” Kan told him, releasing himself from DooSan’s trap. „If you really care about SolHi, as you pretend, then don’t allow her to be involved in this case. Meanwhile, I’ll do everything I can to protect her, for… SolHi is like a daughter for me and I intend to protect her even of you, if necessary.”

„To defend her?! Of what, for God’s Sake?! Tell me the reason why you are against her involvement in this case.”

„I’ll tell you, but … now isn’t the right moment.”

„Detective Kan!”

„If you want to find out, convince SolHi to stay away from this. If not, your feelings for her aren’t more than just a whopper of a sham lover,” and Kan passed by DooSan. But he stopped after a few steps, turned toward DooSan who kept standing in the same place, and told him in a severe voice: „I reaffirm what I said in the office, prosecutor Han: if something happens to SolHi, you’ll be the first one who I’ll ask to pay for this.”

Only then did DooSan turn toward Kan and looked behind him while he was rushing to move toward his car.

Squeezing his fists, for being furious after his talk with Kan, which left a bitter taste on the tip of his tongue, DooSan hissed through his teeth: „what’s wrong with everybody today? One turns into a seductive tigress who infatuates men into the gym while this one goes crazy just because I allow her to do her job as a detective?! They have really lost their mind, they all!”

„Detective Kan didn’t come!” detective So murmured while being on the rear seat of the car, on DooSan’s right, analyzing her camera.

„He won’t come,” DooSan furiously murmured. „As I know him, he’ll stay far from this job, just to claim us later if something goes wrong: that he was right, that he thought about this, and… so on and so far.”

Gi, who was in the driver’s seat, grinned unsatisfied: „I’ve worked with this man for years, but I realized that I don’t know him at all.”

„Why do you say that?” Mo asked, who was on Gi’s right.

„Because… can the leopard change his spots? I think no. The same happens to Kan, who isn’t the first time when he acts like that.”

Gi's reply interested DooSan. „Isn’t this the first time? What do you mean? That he and SolHi…?”

„No, it wasn’t about SolHi then, but about another girl. One of our former colleagues. I think it happened 8-9 years ago when we were after a group of women traffickers, and because the investigation was advancing at a snail's pace, our superiors decided to infiltrate a young colleague into that group. She just entered the team, that’s why Kan was against that. But… nobody listened to him then.”

„And? How did the things work out?” DooSan asked, moving his fingers nervously while squeezing them in a fist or releasing them.

„Tragically! Having no experience, she very soon gave herself away, and… they executed her right in front of us. That’s why Kan is so against involving our female colleagues in such operatives.”

„It seems to me that it’s more than that here,” So said.

„More than this event? What do you mean?” DooSan asked.

„Call it female intuition or whatever you want, but I think that it’s because of something that happened to detective Ian before. Maybe something similar, and we don’t know about this. That’s why detective Kan opposes the idea of involving her in this.”

„I agree with detective So,” Mo said. „Just…,” and Mo’s whistle made everybody look through the front shield and wide-open their eyes while staring at SolHi who was getting out of a luxurious car. „I didn’t know detective Ian can be so sexy. If I had known that, I would have invited her out since long ago, for…,” a slap over his head, received from Gi, made him murmur instead: „yes, yes, I’ll keep my mouth shut. I was only a remark, anyway.”

„A bad tasted remark, actually. You are talking about your colleague,” So hissed through her teeth, and her remark resounded more like jealousy than reproach. After that, she showed Mo her squeezed fist, a hint that - if he keeps saying nonsense, he’ll taste it on his face.

„Detective So, take as many photos as you can and don’t lose anything,” Gi demanded, motioning with his head toward the „fly” that was heading toward SolHi.

„She could have chosen a dress with much more material on it,” DooSan furiously mumbled, seeing the elegant dress, but short and provocative enough, worn by SolHi. And when the „fly” dared to kiss her cheeks, DooSan suddenly kicked the front seat, for when he jerked on his seat, he was sitting crossed legs, and Gi felt that hit well enough on his back.

That’s why Gi turned his head and stared at DooSan with beast eyes. But, yet, he said nothing, hearing SolHi’s voice on the Two-way radio, for she was using a mic and an emitter under her clothes: „did you wait for me for a long time?” she asked the guy while both of them were climbing the stairs of the coffee shop. „If so, I apologize, she said smiling, answering thus to his smile that was leering at her. „I’m sure you know the women well: we are all the time losing the counting of time when we are in front of the mirror. That’s why I didn’t realize what time it was and… I’ve been late for our meeting. A little bit, at least.”

„That’s nothing. I understand this very well. A woman needs time to be beautiful for… us,” he said and pulled the chair to allow her to sit down.

DooSan cooked his nose, seeing that, and he right away sent a text message to her: „carefully with the coquetry or I come there and I’ll let that „fly” wingless.”

SolHi only gazed at her phone when she received the message, but she ignored it without opening it, and this made DooSan rage, practically. „Huh, she decided to ignore me now?!” he told himself. „Wonderful! Then… if I see you one more time hovering around me, Ian SolHi, I swear that…”

But the fact that SolHi loudly laughed at one of the „fly’s” bad jokes, made DooSan stare like a bull in heat at So’s camera, which she was using to „record” that meeting.

„Is she smiling???” DooSan yelled in his head. „At some fly’s bad jokes? Wow, I can’t believe this: she smiles at that fly, but she ignores me and she sends me to sleep on the … couch, all the time??? You…”

„Do you want it?” So told him, grinning, when she saw DooSan practically stuck on the camera’s screen.

But DooSan was all adrift, understanding that he has given himself away, and this made him withdraw. „Absolutely not. I was just… curious,” and he stared through the left window, at the street crowded with people and cars.

But… his „indifference” did not last for long, especially when he heard SolHi’s voice on the loudspeaker, trying to be as seductive and coquette as possible: „and… what do you do for a living?” she asked the guy, but DooSan was the one to answer her, mumbling in his beard: „he is hunting flies.”

Hearing DooSan’s mumbling, the other three detectives stared at each other, then they hit each other with the elbow, and, in the end, giggled, for no matter how hard DooSan didn’t try to look indifferent, the jealousy was speaking on his behalf.

„Well, what I don’t do?! Generally,… I’m in business. Everything that can help me to earn some money,” he said, looking elsewhere, for he found her questions a little bit suspicious, but he preferred not to give himself away that he was aware of that.

SolHi instead decided not to give up, for her main aim was to find him out, if this was possible, or at least to pump a secret out of him and to find out more details about the organization. „Needless to say, that, for the businesses are all the time men’s main trump card. More those like you who know how to make a woman feel well,” she tried to adulate him.

DooSan instead felt that he was losing his mind, hearing her talking like that, but yet, he kept silent eventually, only nervously moving on his chair.

„I hope you didn’t doubt about this?!” the guy entered her game.

„Should I have done this?! As I recall, I’m not that kind of… girl that doubts about everything,” and she slowly bent over the table, intending to make him enter more her game.

But… one should only open a little bit the lid of a honey jar and he’ll see how many flies will hover around it. The same happened to the guy: seeing SolHi coquetting with him, he thought that she fell into his trap and he decided to take advantage of this. That’s why he also bent over the table and took her hand into his: „absolutely not. I mean… about doubts. Anyway, for a beautiful woman, it’s absolutely normal to be interested in men like me.”

„He seems pretty confident in his assets,” Mo said.

„They all look like this until they get behind bars,” Gi corrected him.

„Or until others twist their necks,” DooSan angrily muttered.

„And… what else could interest a woman like … me?” SolHi asked.

„What do I know: business? Luxury? Jewels? Flowers? Money?”

„Men. And… the more generous the better,” SolHi said almost in a whisper, in a seductive tone, then she ran her finger lightly over the back of the guy's palm as if inviting him to a romantic sequel in two.

When the guy bowed even more toward her, intending to kiss her, Gi told SolHi: „Detective Ian, take it easy! And… don’t push him so hard. Not the other, but you can scare him and force him to run. Then: catch him if you can.”

SolHi just smile and withdrew a little bit as if playing with the „fly” a hot one, a cold one. Then, she passed the fingers through her hair, playing with it, smiling, but without taking her eyes from the guy who loudly sipped from his drink, served them not that long ago by one of the waiters, and showing his frustration that way that she denied him a kiss. Thus, he didn’t see SolHi’s quick glance toward Gi’s car and the O.K sign, discretely shown by her, a hint that she got the order.

Then, to make him think she was easy prey, SolHi dropped, by accident, the glass from which she „intended” to drink, wetting the floor thus. Yet, she coquettishly smiled, trying to make things seem not as bad as they could look at a first glance.

„Ups, so clumsy I am sometimes,” she murmured, pretending to be ashamed. „Not that this often happens, but… it happens. More when I’m accompanied by someone I really like and… I feel clumsy sometimes just because I’m trying to know that person better and as soon as possible.”

„And… why not to know each other … better… otherwise?!” he whispered in her ear, bending more over the table.

SolHi again smiled, ashamed of such a „proposal” and, looking elsewhere, she murmured: „depends on the way of knowing better. I would like to be with a little bit more… action, if possible,” and she quickly blinked from her eyes, coquetting with him.

DooSan and the other three detectives stared with wide-open eyes at her, hearing her talking like that while So whistled a „wow, detective Ian, respect! You know how to wind him around your little finger!” a remark that made SolHi smile.

But she changed that smile into an ironic grinning, hearing DooSan’s voice in the earphones: „do you like action, huh?! I’ll show what real action means after this,” but even if he wanted to reveal SolHi more details about his plan, he couldn’t, for Gi took the two-way radio from his hand, motioning at him to be quiet, for… he was interfering in the operative.

„Detective Ian, make him talk more about him. Especially about his „business,” he brags so much about,” Gi gave the order, and she slowly yawned. Then, she has been so amazed to hear the guy asking:

„And… what about you? What are you doing for a living?”

„Me?” SolHi murmured, pretending to be so flattered that he wanted to know her better. But that was only her strategy to take her time to think about and to throw out a feeler. „With… nothing in particular. My „daddy” takes care of me and this gives me the opportunity to „formally” work, but to also have time for fun.”

„Daddy?! This was about me or what?!” DooSan thought, sniffing. „Hm, I don’t think so. She’s too obvious in this and, knowing that I can hear her, she wouldn’t have said that ever.”

„You are lucky then,” the „fly” told SolHi, again taking her hand into his and watching her with „love.” „I like the women who know what they really want from life.”

„Absolutely. Especially I know how to spend the… nights,” she said in a half a voice, holding the conversation and making the situation seem even more „romantic” than it really was.

„Then, how about showing you what real nightlife means?” he said, kissing the back of her hand.

SolHi said nothing instead: she just smiled, hearing in the earphones Mo’s happy voice, who shouted: „Bingo! Our „fly” finally fell. Congratulations, detective Ian: you are a real cat when one must prepare a trap for stupid guys.”

„Feline, damn it!” DooSan hissed through his teeth. But he smiled again, spotting So’s glance focused on him. „You’ll pay me for this, Ian SolHi, and to be stupid if I take you one more time out, just to show you to the world,” he eventually thought.

„He’s there!” Mo pointed to the red car of the „fly” stopped somewhere on the road, not that far from the parking lot in front of DooSan’s block of flats, for the car SolHi drove was his, and „daddy’s” apartment was also his, for she wouldn’t have brought the „fly” to her apartment which was far away from the scammers'standards and in a poor and infamous neighborhood: this would have led to the failure of the whole operative, for sure.

„I can’t believe he followed her,” So murmured.

„It was logical to follow her,” Gi said. „He had to make sure that he chose well the target and that he won't fail.”

„I don’t know why, but I have a bad feeling about all this,” So murmured again, slowly hitting her chest with the fist.

„Again, the famous „premonition?” Mo teased her, turning toward her and grinning.

„Ia, just keep your mouth shut and focus on the case,” Gi chewed them out. Suddenly, he made them desperate signs to bent, seeing the „fly” getting out of his car and approaching SolHi’s car, parked in front of the building, a few minutes only after she entered.

Passing in front of the detective’s car, the guy made the four practically stick back on the seats, not to be seen. Then, he took a picture of SolHi’s car and dialed a number.

Seeing the guy making a phone call not so far from their car, So tapped Mo’s shoulder, motioning to open the window to listen to what that one was saying.

And Mo just nodded yes and, stretching his hand, he finally managed to reach the window regulator button and to open just a little bit the window, but it was enough to hear what that one was saying: „the fish is ready to cook! Prepare the net! We’ll have some fun tonight!” Saying this, he hung up the phone and rushed toward his car, which he left in the middle of the road with the engine on.

„Wha, now I understand why the other victims said that they felt as if being hunted by someone. This trash was after them,” Mo swore.

„Trash? It’s a too nice name for him!” Gi hissed through his teeth. „Yet, I’ll break this snake’s neck as we have him. Let’s follow him!” Gi said, turning on the engine.

„Go without me,” DooSan told them, suddenly leaving the car, only a few seconds after the „fly” had left, without even paying attention to the Gi’s desperate gestures and deaf yells to stay in the car and not to give them away.

Yet, Gi had been forced to leave the place, right after DooSan closed the door, not to lose all the traces of the guy. That's why, hearing Gy pressing the gas pedal to the brim, DooSan pulled the cap over his face not to be recognized and headed toward the building entrance.

Suddenly, someone started to form the code of DooSan’s door lock, in a rush, making SolHi alert, for she knew that DooSan couldn’t be. It was too risky for him to turn to his apartment when she was followed by the guy they were investigating. Yet, she took a shirt from his closet and put it on, for when she heard the door code’s sound, she had already taken off her dress and she wasn’t to meet her „visitor” as her mother brought her into the world. Then, she took the gun out of her purse and got closer to the bedroom door, which she later opened, just a little bit.

Yet, seconds after that, nothing was heard again, as if the one who had formed the code, changed his mind or was next to the door, waiting for the perfect moment to enter.

„Has that idiot followed me till here?!” she wondered in a whisper. „I don’t think so. Even if he’s an idiot, I don’t think he dared to enter this apartment when it’s still the day and while I’m here. Yet, I must see who entered,” she said and left the room.

Arrived in the living room, she saw herself forced to hide after the couch, hearing again the code being formed and, two seconds later, the door opened from a jerk.

Peeping only a little bit to see who was, SolHi saw a man’s feet getting closer to her, but when to jump over him and to take him by surprise, she saw DooSan, standing tea pot fashion in front of her, with his arms crossed on his chest, and staring furiously at her.

„What?” SolHi snapped at him, for he really put death in her with his „theatrical” entrance. „I could have shot you, idiot. And… you shouldn’t be here, remember?”

„Why exactly?” DooSan asked sullenly.

„Do you even ask? Or what… have you already forgotten that we are investigating a case? If you were with detective Gi and the others, I’m sure you saw that guy following me.”

„Of course, I saw him. And… by the way, he’s gone already.”

„He’s gone?! I thought he’ll be out till the night: watching me!”

„Why to bother?! The „fish” is already in the net and, being convinced of his success, he hadn’t why to waste his precious time.”

„Are you scolding me right now or having fun of me?” SolHi asked him, confused.

„Both! Or what?! Shouldn’t I?!” DooSan hissed through his teeth. „You are in my house, driving my car, and using my money just to catch a damn idiot fly. And… as your „daddy” I have all the right to come here and to see what my „girl” does.”

„Don’t exaggerate, ok?!”

„Why not?! I think I act very wise actually. More with such a „daughter” in my house, who can seduce a man for the first date. Of course, a lot did the dress, not you.”

„Ia, Han DooSan, stop it! Neither it’s the place nor the moment for jealousy.”

„Jealous? Who? Me? Absolutely not!”

„Yeah, you, and… I remind you that you haven’t the right to act like that. We are just … colleagues,” SolHi told him reproachfully and turned her back on him to leave.

DooSan instead, mad after hearing her answer that hurt his ego, suddenly grabbed her arm and, from one jerk, he held her to his chest.

SolHi tried to release herself from his trap, but she understood that it would have made things worst. „What the hell do you think are you doing?” she said, reproachfully.

„Me?! I just try to make it plain to you that if you continue playing this cat and mouse game with that idiot, SolHi, I don’t know what I’ll be capable of. I don’t like this game. At all. That’s why I’ll teach you some manners,” and, before SolHi could understand what kind of lesson he was talking about, she felt his lips pressing hers in a hot kiss.

A few moments later when he finally understood that SolHi will continue to stay frozen and she won’t kiss him back, DooSan looked into her eyes, after he stopped kissing her.

SolHi told him, disappointed: „did you think that a kiss will make me fall to your legs?”
