《Hello, Inside Monster》CHAPTER XLIX: LIFE LIKE A BOOMERANG

„Damn it! Damn it!” DooSan suddenly shouted, hardly throwing a ramion casserole against the wall that he found in one of the cupboards. „She led all of us a pretty dance as if we were children!” he shouted after he remembered that SolHi lately refused to have lunch with her colleagues or with him, motivating her denial with foolish excuses: she had already eaten, she was off her feed, or she’ll go after finishing what she had to do.
And… lately, SolHi was all the time alone, but even if DooSan found it strange and unusual, he preferred to give her some space and time to approach him again, thinking that it was only a matter of time or that kind of period when you need to be alone and that each person in the world felt it at least once in his life: the need for freedom.
But he has been wrong: SolHi was fending off him not to be forced to spend money, for among all the problems she had to face lately: the rise of the rent, the payments for her mother’s care, and also DooSan’s costs, she felt that she really reached her limits and that she had no other way to survive than to spend as less as possible. However, even if she tried so hard to hide everything, everybody in her environment found out about her problems so sudden and they felt as if someone hit the top of their head with a sledgehammer, especially when the doctor told them that SolHi lost consciousness in front of the warehouse due to malnourishment or better to say because of an unbalanced diet, low caloric, and … minim food.
„And… what was this woman going to live with? Feeding on air?” DooSan shouted again, sitting in the middle of the living room, akimbo while sheepishly staring through the room and deeply breathing in and out while trying to calm down.
He suddenly winced when someone several times punched the door. Then, the irritating voice of a woman about 50 was heard behind the door. „Ian SolHi, you shameless woman, I know you are there! Open the door! How long will you avoid me? Open the door, don’t you hear me?”
Everything seemed weird to DooSan, for since he was living with SolHi nobody ever came there at least to check if there was everything fine. And now, so sudden, a feisty and in the humor for fighting lady came to their door, looking for SolHi and that lady even dared to call SolHi a „shameless woman.”
Seeing that nobody opened the door, the lady, who was in fact the owner of the apartment, was about to kick the door to make her presence felt and heard there. But she’s been so amazed to see a man opening the door instead of SolHi.
„Who are you?” the woman asked DooSan in a half a voice, squinting at him.
But DooSan disliked that weird and insistent glance, just as he disliked her shouts. So, he answered her as she deserved: „I’m Death! Lately, I’m living around!”
Listening to his answer, the woman hardly swallowed, but… she right away came to her senses, understanding that what DooSan said couldn’t be true and that he probably made a joke. So, she changed the tone of her voice, making it playful. „Ei, don’t talk like that! You’re still young!” she tried to bring the conversation in a different direction, realizing that if she continues to talk to him as she did before or as she used to talk to SolHi, she would have probably really faced the death. „And yet… who did you say you are?” she inquired, extremely curious.

„Let’s say I’m just a buddy that also lives here,” DooSan answered dryly.
„Without my permission?” the feisty lady asked.
„And… since when the tenant has to inform the owner whom he is living with as long as he pays regularly and smoothly?” DooSan replied nervously because that odd situation certainly wasn't for him a joke nor he was in the mood for an extended discussion with a weird lady. All he wanted was to finish that talkathon as soon as possible and to go to the hospital to check how SolHi was feeling. „I consider that once I told you who I am, you should do the same. So… as between educated people!” DooSan said harshly.
The lady disliked the way of superiority DooSan used to talk to her and especially she disliked the fact that she couldn’t tell DooSan where he steps off just as she generally used to talk to her other tenants, using sometimes also threats and „bad words.” „Who am I? I’m the owner of this apartment. Oh Min Suk, whom SolHi owes a lot of money, actually.”
„Now I understand why SolHi has been thoughtful and sad lately and why she got to the hospital eventually: it has been because of you,” DooSan hissed through the teeth. „And… may I know how much SolHi owes you?” he asked in an ironic voice. „As far as I know, SolHi paid everything related to the rent and without delays.”
„Maybe she has paid it, I didn’t say that she didn’t, but… the rules of the game have changed now: she still has to pay me more because I’ve decided to raise the rent about three months ago, and SolHi didn’t pay that difference!” the lady told him in a defiant voice. „More than that: since this month, she has to pay three months'rent up front, for I am not going to accept such behaviors on her part, which, moreover, affect my reputation.”
„Your reputation? Wait a minute: how could SolHi’s situation affect your reputation when who came at her door, yelling as a desperate woman at the four corners of the world has been you and all this because you’ve decided to raise the rent so suddenly when your tenants hadn’t been informed about this increment and they paid you already what they should have paid?!”
„Well… if I’ve decided to raise the rent has been because of her: because of the recent scandal in which she’s been involved and… also because of her impudence, I can lose my potential tenants for this apartment later. That's why she must pay for all the damages she caused me.”
„Scandal? What scandal?” DooSan asked confused.
„Well… that one which every single newspaper has written about a few weeks ago. I think you also saw the news that has written about her impudence to have spent the night in a man’s apartment and others saw her doing this. That’s why…”
Outraged, DooSan suddenly punched the door, forcing the woman to stop her talkathon. „Listen… lady, I’ll appreciate it if you don't drive me crazy because I’m really and completely out of my mind right now. And… I really don’t get how could you decide to mess around with SolHi only for such a stupid thing and also to take it as a logical reason for the increment of the rent? For a „scandal” that hasn’t anything to do with you. As far as I know, none of that news has mentioned the address of this place and either the fact that SolHi is your tenant. That’s why you can’t claim her as being responsible for any damage caused to you: neither moral nor material. So, you have no right to ask her to pay you reckless „compensations,” DooSan told her in an irritant and hissing voice.

„Yeah? And where this is written? That I can’t claim what is mine?!”
„In the Constitution, ma'am, and if you didn’t read it yet, I’ll recommend you because it’s such a damn useful document to read.”
„Are you kidding me now?”
„The only one who’s kidding of someone is you, ma’am. So, don’t make me lose my patience and… get lost from here!”
DooSan wanted to close the door. The woman instead kept her ground and, grabbing the doorknob, she pulled it toward her by force, staring at DooSan with the eyes of a beast: „not until I won't get my money!”
Realizing that he won’t get rid of her easily and thus he won't be able to go to the hospital, DooSan first kicked the bucket, trying to calm down, then he asked: „how much?”
„Well… if to calculate everything that she owes me…,” the woman started her chaffer about money, for hearing that DooSan was ready to pay she has decided to take advantage of this and… of course, to get as much as possible from him.
But… DooSan wasn't stupid either: he clenched his left fist, implying that he was not kidding. „I mean the rent. Only the amount she owes you on the rent for a month.”
„Well… before, she was paying 930 thousand Wons. Now, with the increment… it’ll be 1 million.”
„Greedy charlatan,” DooSan snarled. „Anyway, I don’t have time to play with you right now. So… the number of your account!” he hissed through his teeth, giving her his phone for her to write down her bank account number.
The woman first reservedly looked at him, not knowing why, but she was feeling that this can bring her a lot of problems later. But yet… because of her avarice, she practically pulled the phone from DooSan’s hand, wrote in such a hurry the account’s number that it seemed that someone was chasing her, and seconds later she gave him the phone back with a shacking hand… God knows the reason why her hand was shaking anyway: greed or fear!
DooSan didn’t stand for long to think about her oddness with the shacking of the hand: he transferred the payment for three months and then he told her in a grave tone: „here you have the payment for three months and… if I see you one more time rounding SolHi and asking her to pay you for God knows for what, I swear that I’ll drag you to each possible Court and I’ll make you pay for everything you did to her… for an entire life if possible.”
„Are you a lawyer?” she asked ironically.
„Worse: I’m a prosecutor and this gives me the right to check any of your activities and… I’ll do that, as soon as I’ll have a free time, and … if I find something stinky, I swear that you’ll regret coming here and trying to make SolHi pay for your avarice!” After this, he slammed the door in front of the woman.
The woman instead, didn’t get her tail down: she took her phone out of her pocket, checked the transfer on her account, and when she saw the amount of money, she received from DooSan, she happily kissed the screen of the phone while murmuring: „as long as I get my money, I don't care who holds this one's side. Anyway: next time… I’ll find another reason to get money from her because I didn’t sacrifice for nothing when I accepted an assassin to live in my apartment,” and she left, humming a melody.
***
Even if DooSan came up to the hospital out of breath, whilst he was still burning inside after the fight with Oh Min Suk, and more after finding out that SolHi considered him a nobody and because of this she preferred not to trust him and to fight alone against that avalanche of events that tried to crush her instead of asking for his help, once arrived in front of her ward, he deeply breathed in till he felt that he calmed down and only after this DooSan carefully opened the door and entered.
SolHi was still asleep and, entering the ward, he could see her face well, strongly bathed by the light of the sun because due to the medicine she received for having some rest, she immersed herself into a deep sleep that lasted for a few hours.
„So beautiful,” DooSan thought, still by the door. Then, he approached the bed and watched her for another few minutes, standing by the bed. When he bent to cover her better with the blanket, SolHi suddenly opened her eyes, taking him by surprise. „Weren’t you sleeping?” he asked.
„I’ve just woke up when I felt you by my side,” she murmured, fussing in the bed and trying to stand in a sitting position.
„Be careful not to get dizzy,” DooSan told her in a soft voice. Then, after helping her to make herself comfortable, he dragged the table to the bed and put some casseroles with some food he brought with him on it.
SolHi stared in amazement at him: „what’s this?”
„We are calling it food, here, on Eart. But… I doubt that aliens like you, who are feeding themselves only with Sandwiches and ramion, know what this is,” DooSan told her in a reproachful voice.
„Should I take it as a hint that you poked your nose in my things? After secrets were you looking for, right?”
„Aga and I found out a secret that laid me back,” DooSan snarled, sitting down on the bed, next to her, and putting the spoon into her hand. „For example, that someone raised the rent so much that you haven’t been in the position to pay for it from your own pocket, but you also didn’t ask for anyone’s help. Better to die starving than to ask me for help, right?!”
„Mrs. Oh came to the apartment!”
„Mmm, and… damn woman! Does she always use to announce her visit by punching or kicking her tenants’door?”
SolHi shrugged: „There’s nothing you can do in this situation! It’s her manner of being,” and she started to eat.
„If I would have time to rake out through all this business, I’m sure that I would have found a lot of stinky things because she really looks like the devil. And… I have a damn bad desire to give her a shake for what she did to you.”
„There’s no need for that,” SolHi murmured.
„Why? Don’t tell me that you are afraid that she’ll turn you adrift? SolHi, with such owners that raise up the rents each time they want to do that, you’ll finally get living in the street. It’s better to…”
„She has been the only one who accepted me in her house, DooSan. And… even if I know that she takes advantage of this… there’s nothing I can do. Let’s not forget that I’m still considered an assassin and if she decides not to rent me anymore her apartment, I’ll be forced to live in the street then.”
DooSan suddenly grabbed her hand, forcing her to watch him. „What for am I here, SolHi? Do you… really can’t ask for my help?”
„Listen, prosecutor Han, I don’t think that’s the moment to…”
„No, SolHi, it’s right the perfect moment because I feel that I’m really burning inside. And you know why?! Because I feel like an idiot that didn’t know anything even if I live in the same room with you. Luckily you have lost your consciousness in front of us and we found out everything just in time. Otherwise… God knows how could you have ended. Why did you prefer to take that damn risk even if you knew that your life could be in danger? Huh? Why did you prefer to eat air only to put aside some money while you were feeding me with meat, fruits, and so many other tasty things? Why?”
„I was paying a loan, remember?” SolHi told him with sadness, after losing the fight with her emotions.
„But not at the expense of your health, SolHi. Not at the expense of your life. I … don’t want this.”
„What do you want then, DooSan? What do you want from me? Let’s not forget that since you moved into my apartment you’ve only done to ask me to pay for everything, I owe you. I did what I could do and I pay just as I can. I don’t know how to do this otherwise.
„Having trust! Is this that difficult?”
„Yes, it’s damn difficult for some of us, DooSan. It’s damn difficult to start trusting again people after being for so long trampled under feet or being slighted as a rat. You say that I’m selfish and that I prefer doing things as I considered right without having trust in others or asking for help. Who exactly should I have asked for help? People? To whom exactly? To those who did everything to be damn difficult or almost impossible for me to buy the food that I needed even if I had money? If so, yes, it’s difficult for me to trust because people are those who denied me the right to live. So… now that I have the chance to redeem myself for that guilt you all are all the time accusing me of and asking to pay, I’ll do that! I’ll pay for what I did, no matter the costs or how I’ll do that,” SolHi said through the tears and the same tears bathed DooSan’s eyes too.
„Then… why didn’t you tell me about this? Do you think it would have been difficult for me to help you financially? You're not the only one who earns money and…”
„I don't need alms or begging from someone. Even if it’s hard for me, I’ll make it on my own as I’ve always done.”
„Begging?” DooSan shouted. „You what, no one taught you to count on the help of friends or what?”
„Friends? I don’t have friends, DooSan. And… yes, nobody taught me this because … my father had other plans in life, and my mother… well, my mother always asked for results and she never loved to hear cries or laments. And… to support my mother and to survive, I had to work. I’ve always worked and I’m not afraid of doing this.”
„Stop feeling sorry for yourself,” DooSan shouted again, taking her by surprise. „Or what… did others always cheat on you or consider you being a fool? If so, then … you deserved this, for … not knowing to choose the people who’ll stand by your side… because not everybody is like you say.”
„I didn’t know to choose?!” SolHi murmured in disappointment, for she would have expected anything from DooSan, but not to hear such words from him. „Maybe you’re right, but… who cares who stays on the battlefield as prey to the crows and who survives?! Maybe I’m of those people that should pay with their body for what they did or to die just for the simple fact that I’m still breathing.”
„Ian SolHi! Stop it!”
„Why? Am I wrong? As far as I know, you moved to my house to bring your plan off, that plan you still have in mind… to make me pay for what happened to your brother. So… I won’t oppose it and you also shouldn’t give up. Not for me.”
After a few moments of silence, while he fought with his inner demons and with the disappointment after listening to her words, DooSan said in a sad voice: „But… didn't you think about the fact that someone cares about you? Maybe someone really cares about you and wants you to be ok, to be happy, to can count on that person, to ask for his help when you need this and when you feel threatened to know that his there, by your side, and that you’re safe? Is this that difficult?”
SolHi said nothing: she only pushed the table away from her, practically pulled the needle shaft out of her vein, and stood up, slipping her feet into the shoes in a hurry.
Disappointed with her behavior, DooSan felt that he lacks air and a slight tremble of his lips was also felt. „Have you always been a coward, SolHi?” he murmured eventually, still sitting on the bed while she was in the middle of the room.
„Coward?” SolHi asked, looking at him in astonishment and anger at the same time.
But he did not look at her. „Mmm. Coward: you are always running when there’s an important talk between us and one that can eventually change your life.”
„I don’t need that, DooSan. I don’t need someone to change my life. I’m fine how I’m now. I’m used to this.”
„Then… keep playing the role of the perfect victim,” he whispered, standing up, and staring right into her eyes. „You’ve always waited for the charming guy on the white horse to come and rescue you. But now… when maybe he’s there, somewhere near you, you just make a run for it. Or … am I wrong?”
„Yes. You’re wrong because … you can’t be that charming guy.”
„Why not? Because of what happened 7-years-ago?”
„Not only, DooSan… simply… we can’t be together. Not without killing the other one eventually.”
Disappointment, hatred, desire to tame the other one and … the love could be read in the eyes of both of them, sparkling as if it was burning embers, for being stubborn, none of them wanted to accept that he has lost in front of the other.
That's how Kan found them when he entered the ward: watching as if they were two rivals and two lovers at the same time. „I have the feeling that I came at the wrong time. I’ll better retreat: I don’t want to interrupt a fight among lovers,” and he intended to exit, but he stopped when DooSan and SolHi shouted at the same time: „who’s fighting here?” After this, SolHi bound out of the ward.
„Did I say something wrong?” Kan asked in amazement.
„For SolHi everything and anything can be wrong,” DooSan murmured and he also left the ward.
„Hmm, interesting: and I had come to tell them that we could leave and that I had paid the bill. Well…,” but when to exit the ward, he saw the nurse entering and he told her: „nobody touched that food, I see. You can serve anybody else. I’ll take only the bag,” and… grabbing the bag, he rushed to also exit the ward.

Brought by the guard into the visiting room of the jail, Yu Ra has been so amazed to see Ha Na waiting for her while sitting at one of the tables. The amazement of seeing the young girl, made Yu Ra stop, for not knowing what to do - she wasn’t afraid to face her ex-friend because after what she and SilGi did to Ha Na they couldn’t be friends anymore, but yet… she felt a certain discomfort to be in front of the one with whom she has been once „friends” just to later transform her into one of their victims.
The same happened to No SuDjin, whom Yu Ra met in the hospital where she was working as a nurse and where she hired not because she wanted to work, but for being easier for them to find „new victims” for SilGi’s business because she thought that she was really in love with him and because of this she was ready to burn herself if necessary to help him.
Actually, decoying SuDjin hadn’t been that difficult because as soon as she saw her, Yu Ra understood that the young girl was desperate to receive a transplant because, only a few days before their meeting, SuDjin found out from her doctor that the person who was brain dead and who could be a donor for her wasn’t compatible with her, and because of this the surgery has been postponed. This provoked a real crisis in SuDjin who has been calmed down only with medicine eventually.
When she woke up, the first person SuDjin saw has been Yu Ra who was changing the fluid bag with another one. „Don’t worry: it’s not painkillers, but vitamins,” Yu Ra told her in a sweet voice, and thus, she managed to win the patient's trust.
A few days later, SuDjin was called in for investigation and treatment, and Yu Ra has decided to take advantage of this, and, each time she was seeing the patient walking in the small park of the hospital, she was taking a „break” just to talk to her. Thus, while talking, she told SuDjin that … „she knows someone who can give her a new chance for life, but… you see, there’s not everything legal and maybe she shouldn’t have told her about this. But… as SuDjin became in time a person she started to appreciate, she has decided to talk to her about such an opportunity.”
For a person sentenced to death who hasn’t any other chance to fight against the Grim Reaper, such words had been like a fresh breath of air into a hot desert melted by the fire of a barbarous sun. Therefore, SuDjin asked Yu Ra about the details of that „opportunity,” at first only as something she was just curious to find out how it is working, but when she understood that a new transplant won’t be soon, she asked Yu Ra to bring her into contact with those people she knew.
Yu Ra however, not being new in this, has decided to ensure her own back first. So, she just told the girl that for her own safety, she will sacrifice and she’ll be the mediator between SuDjin and those dangerous people she knew. Thus, Yu Ra not only took care of being safe but also roped SuDjin’s trust and she kept lying to the girl till that one was completely blind and in love with her new „friend.”
But… things changed when Yu Ra found out that SuDjin hadn’t the sufficient amount of money to „buy” a heart. That’s why she has decided that before getting rid of the stupid that trusted her so easily and then running away, she had to take the money SuDjin gathered for the surgery first. SilGi, however, thought differently and when Yu Ra told him about SuDjin, he decided that the stupid idiot will be perfect as a source of organs and he convinced Yu Ra to take care that SuDJin will come to the perfect place wherefrom she won’t ever turn back. So, Yu Ra called SuDjin on the second day in a safe place, telling her that her lucky day has come and that her „contacts” have just told her that they found the perfect heart for her dear friend. But, you see, SuDjin had to go alone to that place because those people don’t want to lose their business if the police smell something.
And SuDjin told no one about that: she had decided to surprise her family when everything will be just a nightmare. And she really surprised them: she withdrew all the money she had for the transplant into the bank account and she so suddenly disappeared.
Her trust in an unknown person ended when she had a heart attack, realizing that she’d been cheated. But yet… because a medical team was present in the same place where Yu Ra called SuDjin, they could keep her alive till they had been able to take a great part of her organs, and, to hide her deed, Yu Ra hit SuDjin’s head with an ax, trying to make it seem a simple crime. But while they were in this, planning the perfect crime, SilGi had a brilliant idea: to „kill” Yu Ra, and this way, with a new identity, she was safe and she wouldn’t have been forced to pay her boyfriend’s debts anymore.
„Why are you here?” Yu Ra told Ha Na in a whisper, sitting already in front of her and staring into her eyes, even if her mind wasn’t there, but she was still remembering fragments of what happened to No SuDjin.
„To see your face, but… I’m not that sure anymore that it has been a good idea,” Ha Na murmured in disappointment.
Yu Ra bitterly smiled. „Why? Disappointed to see where I’ve got eventually… thanks to you?” she hissed through the teeth, yet furious, because her lawyer told her that because of Ha Na the police grabbed her and SilGi.
„No. I’m glad that you’re finally here. But yet… you look far too good than you should have looked now. Because of you, I’ve passed through all the circles of hell while being a captive of those trafficators. Because of you, I’ve been forced to be a prostitute and fight against my drug addiction. But… I’ll make it eventually, to get free of this and of everything related to you, Yu Ra, and I assure you that very soon our „friendship” won’t be more than just a simple nightmare.”
Ha Na stood up to leave. She stopped, however, hearing Yu Ra’s voice: „do you think that you’ll be able to forget everything that happened between us, Ha Na?”
„Mmm, I will, because… you’ve been right when you’ve told me that life is like a boomerang - it pays you back for everything you deed and worse than you have imagined. And you… will pay here for what you did to me and … to others.”
„What about you… did you pay for what you deed?”
Ha Na hardly swallowed: „At least, I didn’t kill anybody, Yu Ra. At least, I didn’t sell anyone as a slave. You instead… for a blind love and because of your own stupidity… you have lost everything: even your right to be free.” Saying this, Ha Na eventually left, without even looking back whilst on Yu Ra’s cheeks bitter tears started to flow, but she wasn’t crying because she lost another friend, but because Ha Na was right - she was only a captive bird now, a bird closed in a cage.
***
On the way to the cell, Yu Ra had walked with her head bowed, with her soul crying, and surrounded by sorrow, for even if she thought about what happened in her life in all that time since she was in the jail, she had never considered herself guilty, not as she felt after hearing Ha Na’s words and she understood that she’s been the only one responsible for what happened to her.
„Love has hurt me and has broken my wings,” she murmured, deeply breathing in.
„What did you say detainee 075?” the custodian asked her.
„Nothing,” Yu Ra said, barely heard and she stopped in front of her cell, waiting for the custodian to open the door. Then she went in and retreated into a corner, although she would have usually joined her roommates at a card game. At that moment instead, she felt that she was lacking power for such things.
Sitting in that corner, with the knees touching her chest, Yu Ra wiped a tear on the sly, a tear that appeared in the corner of her eye: even if everything inside her was burning and was hurting her like hell, even if she felt empty, she didn’t want to show her weakness in front of her roommates because she knew that it can make her a slave instead of a leader later or even be killed because of this.
„075, you have a letter,” another custodian told her, opening the small window and half-pushing the letter through it.
Yu Ra reluctantly got up from the floor and approached the door. Seeing that it was a letter sent by SilGi, she told the custodian: „return it to the sender, and if such letters will come in my name, please, don’t receive them.” After this, she turned back to her place, staring at a blind spot through the window, on her left.
„Why Yu Ra?” suddenly her mother's words rang in her ears, for the woman had come to see her after she had been closed in the jail. „We’ve worked for an entire life to help you, we’ve tried to teach you, and to make you a good person. How could you do such things? Especially, how could you lie to us about your own death?” her mother told her through tears.
„What about dad? He won’t come, isn’t he?” Yu Ra asked her mother, avoiding answering the woman’s question.
„No, he won’t,” her mother said. „He says that his daughter died a year ago and that he doesn’t have any other children.”
„He won’t come,” Yu Ra murmured sadly, allowing this time the tears to stream down her cheeks. „Nobody will ever come to see me,” she added in a murmur and her words amazed the other convicts. But nobody approached her or told her a bad word: they preferred to give Yu Ra some time, knowing very well how life in the prison was.
What was even more difficult for Yu Ra and what she didn’t know was that she was the only one left to pay for everything she did with SilGi: the young man had decided to die, alone in the cell, hanged, and about this was written in that letter which Yu Ra has denied to read.
In that letter, only a few lines were written for her: „forgive me, Yu Ra, for dragging you too in this dangerous game, but I didn’t know how to live differently. I… don’t intend to stay and to wait to be brought to trials just to be condemned to death as the lawyer is telling me. I’ll better go now. You… do as you wish, and if you chose the same path as I did… I’ll wait for you at the Gates of the Hell.”
***
„It’s finally over,” Ha Na murmured, after exiting the jail’s territory and, stopping, she closed her eyes and watched the sun.
Before going to see Yu Ra, she had been to see SilGi, but there she found out that he died, committing suicide. „Asshole! Coward!” she sadly murmured then, when she found out about his death, knowing how much Yu Ra had loved him and how much did she suffer because she has been his girlfriend: she not only once has been beaten, forced to spend the night next to those to whom SilGi owed money, and she even got to kill for him. But now… when they had to pay for everything they did, he chose death instead, leaving her alone to face that nightmare.
„But… there’s an ideal for everything in this world, just as there’s a supreme punishment for everything we do,” Ha Na added, slowly going further, toward the taxi that was waiting for her not that far from the entrance. „I’ve already paid for what I did. Let’s other pay for their sins too.”
Being already in the taxi, Ha Na asked the driver to take her home, to her grandmother, for she has sworn that she’ll be always with her, paying this way for her betrayal when she put Yu Ra’s name on the family register without her grandmother being aware of this.
More than this: she was sure that she has paid already for her other sins: that she has often stolen the old lady’s money, that she has always chosen a bad company, that because of drinking and drugs she got to beat someone being in a group and being under the influence of the alcohol and of drugs they didn’t measure their hits and the victim later died. But… nobody ever found out about that crime, and she was too scared to recognize this, just not to be later closed in a similar place as Yu Ra was.
„I’ve paid already for what I’ve done,” she was telling herself all the time, trying to comfort her soul when the guilt for what she has done was taking over her. And… maybe she was right because she started to consume drugs not because she wanted, but because someone put it in the alcohol one evening when she, Yu Ra, and SilGi got to the club, and she has been later abused by a group of young men. To forget that night, she started to consume a lot, till she couldn’t pay for this anymore. That’s why she has been sold later by Yu Ra. However, it hasn’t been to take back the money Ha Na took from her to pay for drugs, but also to pay for SilGi’s debts.

8 187The Sanctuary Core
Summoned to balance the miasmas of Dungeons, so called Sanctuaries- everything opposite of what a dungeon is and does, serve to counter death with life and bring balance to the world. Serving as a Sanctuary Master in charge of managing one of these defenses, Thomas Cutter is pulled from his own world along with his home. Aided by a helpful nymph and a magical book for controlling his territory, Tom must grow his lands enough to halt the dungeon that lay deep in the southern mountains or die in failure. Disclaimer / Author’s note: I’m writing this story purely as something to do. If you choose to read it, I’m glad, but it’s certainly more written for my own enjoyment than anyone else’s, so… sorry if it’s not for you. With that, do be gracious with me, as well as offer whatever helpful criticisms you might have. I’d be much obliged. Enjoy!
8 160Leave Bad Enough Alone
Something has been amiss in the city’s theaters as of late. The local bards have long done a respectable job of keeping the audiences entertained, weaving high concepts with skillful performances. But lately, a new set of bards, and their illusionist cohorts, have captured the crowd’s attention. Compared to the theater’s usual fare, their work is hackneyed and poorly plotted, with unskilled acting, bad special effects, and unsatisfying resolutions. Worst of all, the audiences like their work more, and these upstarts are far more profitable than the city’s decent bards! Clearly, there must be some dark secret behind the success of these newcomers, and it’s up to the city’s true artists to find out what it is and expose the conspiracy! Or maybe the city’s bards have just become too hopelessly pretentious and derivative. It’s hard to tell. But investigate it they must! Failure is not an option! Victory, or...well, they’ll have to get day jobs or something. Original cover image generated by NightCafé.Master story list here.

I was once a typical high schooler. Then those horrible godesses abducted me to their world and made me a hero. Sounds great being a hero doesn't it? Well, my super power, my cheat is to be able to see what those horrible goddesses think of my current stats. Yea, uh if you ever figure out how to make that useful please let me know. In exchange they cursed me...repeatedly. Something about trying to get rid of some negative energy. With my best friend, George the termite, I will crawl up from the bottom and live the good life. If I can avoid all the adventures that come my way since I am a "hero". Author's Note: This is my first time. Go easy on me. :) Criticism and thoughts are always very welcome. I have already written the first 20 chapters. I will release at least a chapter a week and hopefully one a day for the first few weeks.
