《Hello, Inside Monster》CHAPTER XXXIV: ON THE WAY TO HELL (2)

Footsteps approaching: the noise of the soles on the floor is heard as if it is completely wet, but no matter how hard SolHi doesn’t try to see who’s approaching she can’t. All she sees is the darkness that surrounds her and which swallows the room and the void from around her, and this makes her feel anxious and a kind of lump in her throat presses her so hard that makes her feel so well the pain. On her back and all over her body cold sweat trickles and this makes her from time-to-time shudder.

Then, suddenly, a blink of light appeared, piercing the darkness and SolHi saw the bloody feet of a woman - she was barefoot, advancing on the cold cement floor of an unknown place and from all around was increasing in volume, in some places reaching to the ankles, a kind of red liquid and it was somehow similar to the water at high tide.

SolHi made a deafening and sharp sound, but she right away covered her mouth with both palms when she saw who the woman in front of her was: actually, she couldn’t see the woman’s face because of the deep darkness, but that woman continued to approach SolHi and more and more was visible the fact that she was wearing a white dress, similar to the one SolHi wore when she’d been attacked, 7 years ago. And … seconds later … another sharp sound was heard: a metallic ware dragged on the cement and the sound was so killing, entering deep in the bones, making those who heard it shudder, incapable to move from their place as if their body wasn’t their anymore.

Then, the woman held the metallic bar with both hands and hit SolHi… before falling, being hit in the head, SolHi finally saw the face of that woman … she was, the 7-years-ago SolHi, completely bloody and crazy.

Laying on the ground, SolHi opened her eyes and saw as if through the fog the same bare feet, lapping on the wet floor, but there wasn’t any more than red water which had been seen before: only traces of blood on the cement and … a fallen man, in front of her, with the same wound as she had on his head and… he was unconscious.

SolHi pushed herself to stand up and stared at that man’s back and her glance caught something more… a few meters from that man … she saw herself, on the floor, crouching while another man, who she was seeing only from behind, was kicking her belly over and over again. SolHi tried to yell to leave her alone, that he was hurting her, that she was afraid, but she couldn’t hear her voice as if her throat was blocked by something and she couldn’t do anything to run away.

She suddenly rose in the bed, completely sweated and breathing fast - she dreamt it. Again… she dreamt again those fragments of what happened 7-years-ago and which today had been awakened in her mind because of Dja Iun’s words which he told her when she met him with DooSan that night: „how to say: a lot of them never turn back from that hell.”

She quickly wiped a tear that was flowing on her cheek and then looked at her wet palm while in her ears were resounding Dja Iun’s words again and again and again. Then, the pain was felt … harsh and unbearable, in her belly, making her crouch on the bed. She stood like this for seconds in a row, but instead of weakening as it generally happens, the pain increased and SolHi understood that what was she afraid of will happen soon: another attack, of her own body on her - a new epileptic seizure.

She crawled from off the bed, being afraid not the be heard by DooSan who was sleeping on the sofa, with his back at her. But she couldn’t stand up and walk normally toward the bathroom… she crooked her back and, touching her stomach with both palms, barely standing, SolHi entered the bathroom and right away collapsed next to the door while her body was shuddering more with each passing moment: her fists squeezed, her teeth clenched and she felt her feet as if they were made from paper. But even so, barely breathing, she managed to lock the door and with the remaining power, she crawled toward the locker where she was keeping her medicine.

To reach the door of the locker, she grabbed the edge of the sink and pushed herself up, supporting her body on the left forearm because her right hand was still bandaged and she was unable to use it. Thus, she could stand up, not completely, but enough to can open the door, but her hand started to shake when to reach the medicine bottle and SolHi felt the approaching convulsions taking more over her.

„Please! Help me!” SolHi was asking herself for help, in a murmur while stretching her shaking hand to reach the medicine, but despite the efforts that she did she could touch the bottle with medicine only with the top of her fingers.

And finally, she lost the battle with her own body: her legs slipped on the floor and while falling her fingers could push the bottle with medicine from off the ledge and the pills had been later scattered on the floor when the bottle hit the floor and the lid broke.

That noise, seemingly deaf, awoke DooSan who at first sat on the sofa and looked around. Seeing the empty bed, he stared amazed around. Then, he heard short noises heard from the bathroom as if something was hitting the bathtub. „SolHi, are you in the bathroom? Something happens?” but he received no answer. So, he stood up and, approaching the door, he knocked: „SolHi? Do you hear me?” but again, no answer was heard.

SolHi was listening to him, but she was incapable to answer, being completely submissive to convulsions that were hardly shaking her body. Not to scream, she bit a towel that fell on the floor also grabbed by her while falling. Thus, only her muffled cries were heard while her soles were barely touching the door, making a deaf sound and her head was hitting the wall of the toilet bowl and this brought memories in her brain that she thought that they were a long time ago forgotten… the seven years ago's hits… the sledgehammer dragged on the cement… how she’d been dragged on the floor after the attacker held her hair and … the scariest for her: how she grabbed a hammer and hit somebody.

„SolHi, open this door! Do you hear me? Open the door!” DooSan yelled, listening to the deaf noises, but listening to no answer from her.

SolHi stretched her hand and finally managed to reach a pill that she right away put in her mouth and swallowed it. For seconds in a row, everything was just dizziness and nausea. Then, she finally could distinguish what DooSan was yelling and something inside her gave her power to push herself up: it’d been the fear that DooSan will find out her secret, her weakness, the fear that he will use this against her to punish her for what happened, to kneel her and this was something SolHi wasn’t ready to accept. So, she grabbed the doorknob and unlocked the door.

DooSan slowly pushed the door and, seeing her on the floor, he got scared and right away kneeled next to her, touching her face. „What’s going on, SolHi? What happens? Do you hear me? Why are you so pale?”

SolHi forced herself to smile: „it’s nothing! Just … cramps!” she mumbled.

„I’m calling the doctor!” DooSan said, but he didn’t manage to leave the room when SolHi grabbed his hand.

„Will you call the ambulance only because I have period pain?” she whispered, trying to sketch a smile. „Those are just cramps. It’ll be alright soon!”

„Will it be alright soon? Did you at least see your face?”

„Mmm. I know how I look like … usual… when… I have stomach aches. And … I took the pill. Soon, it’ll be fine. Just… help me stand up. Please! I want to go to bed!”

She grabbed his hand, trying to push herself up, but she felt that the pain comes back and she gritted her teeth not to moan while her eyes brimmed with tears.

DooSan said nothing more. He just bent, took her in his arms, and then left her on her bed. Feeling the bedding under her, SolHi crouched and tried to cover her body with the blanket, helped by DooSan. Then, he sat down on the bed, next to her, but it made her feel more intense the pain: she would have liked to be alone, to chase DooSan away from the room, but she also knew that it will make him suspect more. That’s why she did only with biting the blanket and crouching, and in her head were spinning over and over again the same thoughts: „Why did I allow him to live here? I should have insisted and to chase him away, but … I forgot about the crises!” Yes, she forgot it and it was also due to DooSan because while fighting with him, her mind and her body focused only on not allowing him to kneel her, and her mind forgot about the epileptic fit. But it’d been enough a single phrase to bring back the nightmare in her life.

„Is it better now?” DooSan asked her in a whisper and SolHi slowly nodded in approval, but she was lying. DooSan however didn’t believe her lie: he stood up and went to the kitchen. SolHi took advantage of the fact that he wasn’t next to her and she squeezed the blanket in her hand, while tears flowed on her cheeks, but she wasn't afraid anymore that DooSan will see her crying - she hid her face on the pillow, trying to face the pain.

Suddenly, she felt something warm: DooSan put in her hand an electric blanket which SolHi held at her chest right away. Soon after, she felt how the pain weakened and she calmed down, also because DooSan was slowly tapping with his hand on her arm and in the rocking of that slight dizziness, SolHi fell asleep. But even so, from time to time, she moaned, barely heard.

Only after he convinced himself that SolHi fell asleep, DooSan wrapped her with the blanket and entered the bathroom. The first thing he spotted was the towel which was lying on the floor and he understood that SolHi used it for not being heard moaning and on it were still visible the traces of her teeth. Bending to lift the towel, DooSan also spotted the pills scattered all over on the floor: „it is something damn weird, Ian SolHi! For the first time, I understood that I did well, entering this house!” he murmured and stared at the medicine bottle on which was written, black on white, „Painkillers!”

Leaving the bathroom, DooSan took the bottle of painkillers with him, but before this he gathered the pills and threw them into the toilet bowl, staring for a short while at the water that was „swallowing the pain.”

***

Ready for going to work, DooSan approached the bed and looked at SolHi who still seemed asleep and with her back at him. „SolHi, it’s time for going to work. Or, will you take the day off?”

„No. I’ll come, but a little bit later. I hope it won’t be a problem.”

„Of course, not, but I still think that you should visit the doctor. Or, should we go together to the hospital?”

„It’s not necessary. I’ll be alright. I just need a little bit more sleep.”

„Alright then! If something, you’ll find me on my mobile. Ok?”

„Ok.”

SolHi stood with her back at the door till she listened to it closing behind DooSan. Then, she slowly turned and looked around: it looked very strange, very calm and deserted, and somehow… unusual because each time she had had a crisis she’d been alone. Except for the first time when she was still living with Mina. After this, she started to take pills, strong ones, prescribed by Mina, but what the psychologist never knew was that it never helped SolHi not to suffer. And SolHi never told Mina that the painkillers didn't help her not because she loved to feel the pain, but because she was afraid … she was afraid to be closed into a hospital because Mina told her and not only once that such crisis, as SolHi had, could be treated only into a hospital.

For SolHi instead, being closed even if it was just the room of a hospital, was something that killed her inside and reminded her about the time spent in the jail. There’d been about two months only spent in the jail, after leaving the hospital, before the trial, but even so, it hurt her so much and … namely, in that cold and empty cell where they closed her often, this nightmare, that she lived all this time, started: the convulsions.

Actually, she could have not gone to jail before trial because Mina told her to continue in the hospital, but SolHi considered that she must pay somehow for what happened to Han YuSan and it was due to the guilt she felt for it, even if she didn’t remember that night. She thought that spending some time in jail she’ll manage to remember something and maybe the Han family’s hatred for her will pass. But she’d been wrong because everything turned out to be a worse nightmare than their hatred and SolHi started to name this „the Hell” in which she paid her guilt … guilt she wasn’t aware of, but she also knew that if she remembers someday what happened that night and it’ll result that she killed that man, at least she won’t regret that she felt the pain all that time because it will be her punishment for what she did.

„But … if I’m not guilty?” was a question that was spinning all the time in SolHi’s head and which she was always chasing away: she hadn’t enough time to think about this. Between her problems, the job, her mother’s crisis, SolHi hadn’t time to think about what was coming. „We’ll live and we’ll see,” she was always answering the questions „what’s next?” But the matter was how she was living and the problem was that nobody ever wondered about how Ian SolHi lived after leaving the jail. They just blamed her and judged her, but they never tried to find out if she was guilty or not. But… things were about to change and it was due to DooSan’s presence in her house because SolHi didn’t want to reveal her secrets and neither DooSan know about how she was living, but she also knew that Han DooSan wasn't a man who leaves things at random and that he'll do everything to discover her secrets.

„I must force him to leave this house,” SolHi murmured while squatting in front of the bathroom and looking at the room: it was clean enough because DooSan took care not to leave behind him traces of what happened last night. „But … why I feel that I don’t want him to leave?” SolHi wondered and again crouched next to the door, but this time wasn’t because of the pain, but because of the fear that was sneaking inside her: fear to live again alone, because, between the fear that DooSan will find out, in the end, her secret and the one of being alone again, SolHi felt that she fears more the last one and it made her shudder and deeply breath in, while tears welled in her eyes. She looked at the front door which was closed at that moment and, only for an instant, she imagined again the door of her cell closing in front of her and making her a captive in her own house. „And yet… I don’t want him to leave this house! He must stay, SolHi! He must stay!” and she burst out crying.

„What? She takes painkillers for stomach aches?” GhiYon yelled on the phone that he was about to leave DooSan deaf and because of this DooSan moved the phone away from his ear, but even so he was listening to his friend’s words so clearly.

„Did you calm down already?” DooSan made a joke when he finally heard the silence in the receiver.

„Do I have any other choice?!” GhiYon growled. „So?”

„I sent you a photo of the medicine bottle. Please, find out for me what they are used for. I don’t think that for cramps one needs this kind of painkillers and no matter how I tried to find something else in that apartment: I found it impossible. She had only this medicine and from what I found on the internet it can be bought only with a medical prescription.”

„Park Mina. Now I get it: they for sure are hiding something.”

„I’m also sure about this and for the first time I don’t regret moving to that house.”

„If you would have listened to me… this case would have been history by now. But you…”

„Yes, yes, mother! It’s everything as you say,” DooSan made a joke and was the only one who laughed. „By the way, what about the second favor I asked you? Will you help me with that one too?”

„With the furniture? But … you said that SolHi was still home and…”

„Yeah, but I don’t know for how long she’ll be home. As I got to know her: she’s definitely stubborn and she probably got already out of the bed and I think she’ll make a visit to her psychologist.”

„I have no doubt about it. Ok, count on me,” and GhiYon was the first one to hang up the phone and he grinned. „Huh, thanks, Han DooSan for such an opportunity: Ian SolHi will finally pay today for everything she did.”

„What? Other pills? Ia, SolHi! I gave you that medicine only a week ago. Don’t tell me you finished it already?” Mina asked in a serious voice when she was walking with SolHi in the garden of the hospital. „And the arm… are you serious now? Isn’t it enough with the problems you have to hurt your arm too?”

„It’s just a sprain, Mina. Stop lamenting! As regards the pills: let’s say Han DooSan took care of them.”

„He took care of them?! May I know in which way?”

„He threw them… maybe he sent them to the „dolls lover” to find out what are they for, or… I don’t care.”

„Maybe you don’t care about this, SolHi, but it’s serious. If DooSan finds out what those pills are for…”

„And…?! He will find out that I take pills for paranoia. So?! I’ll tell him that’s because of what happened in the past. Nothing special. Anyway, I don’t think that he’ll dare to ask me directly about this.”

Receiving a text message, she read it right away and huffed: „speaking about the wolf…” and she showed the message to Mina: „I don’t know if you are still home or not, so I asked GhiYon to help me with the furniture. Sorry, but I don’t even think to spend one more night on that damn sofa.”

„Huh, now the sofa is the problem… and, where if not on the sofa he wants to sleep? On the bed, next to you?”

„Aga, only as a dead… forget it! I’m gone! Things to do! So… please, don’t forget about the receipt!” and she went in a hurry.

„Ia, SolHi! … this is the last time I prescribe you that medicine. Next time… I swear I drag you to the hospital.”

„Yeah! Yeah! Sure!”

***

Two hours later, SolHi entered the prosecution building and stared amazed behind GhiYon who was approaching DooSan that was standing next to the elevator. „Is that one, Pack GhiYon?! What does the dolls lover do here? Didn't he have to take care of his friend's „furniture"? Or what… did those two think that I’ll do this?! Yeah, right! Well, you’ll have a damn nice surprise,” and she hurried toward the elevator decided to argue with DooSan and GhiYon for considering her an idiot, but when she approached them, she was the one surprised, listening to GhiYon’s words: „DooSan, we must talk! Immediately!”

„Immediately? What are you talking about?” DooSan asked, staring at his friend, but he kept silent, seeing in GhiYon’s hand a similar medicine bottle to the one he found in SolHi’s apartment. „Let’s talk on the roof!” and they entered the elevator, forcing SolHi to hide behind a pylon.

Seeing the medicine bottle, SolHi murmured disappointed: „and yet, DooSan, your visit in my house isn’t just … a simple thought as you said. Well, you first must kill me if you want to find evidence!” and she entered the stairs room, climbing them in a hurry and heading toward the roof while inside her was everything boiling and she was intending to throw that lava of anger against Han DooSan.

***

„What did you say? Ian SolHi has false pain?” DooSan asked, in amazement.

„Yes. I asked a good friend about this, a psychologist, and he told me that what SolHi takes is used for treating paranoia and false pains. In other words: Ian SolHi has visions and it makes her feel so real the pain, even if it is just memories.”

„Wait a minute… I don’t get it: what could have caused that woman such pain, GhiYon? For Christ's sake: she was livid last night… looking like a ghost when I found her in the bathroom. She bit a towel not to be heard moaning. It can be just visions. Damn it! Is it because of what happened 7-years-ago?”

„It might be, as I think that I got it now why Mina mentioned at the trial the theory of Ian SolHi’s amnesia.”

„A theory you thought to be fake,” DooSan mumbled. „Damn it, GhiYon! We should have investigated then…”

„And… what if we would have investigated then? Would have this changed something, DooSan? No, and do you know why? It’s because they’ve decided to hide it and they did it for some reason. A good one.”

„A good reason? Like?”

„Like?! That she’s living in fact the same pain YuSan felt while dying because of her.” DooSan looked at him like crazy, but GhiYon continued in a confident tone. „I met such cases when someone killed somebody by accident and after this, he „took” the victim’s feelings and pain.”

„What you say, GhiYon is insane. A few moments ago you accepted the theory of her amnesia and now you are telling me that she has YuSan’s feelings, before dying. Are you listening to what you say?”

„Yes, I know what I’m talking about as I know that I’m sure she’s hiding something… something like this,” and he gave DooSan a document he took from SolHi’s apartment when he let the workers bring the furniture in the apartment and after this, he searched through SolHi’s stuff till he found that property deed on her name.

„A deed of ownership of a tree?”

„True. It seems that Ian SolHi „buried” someone else too, 7-years-ago and not just YuSan. Interesting is whom she…”

„SolHi!” DooSan mumbled when she approached them and took the property deed from his hand, piercing the two men with her glance, a sign that she listened to everything they said.

„Not a single word, Han DooSan. Not a word or I swear that I’ll throw you both off this roof. What? Are you searching through my things now? Is this something that is part of the forensic doctor’s attributions?” she yelled and stared furious at GhiYon, who was also watching her, sternly.

„If you would have told us, what are you hiding, we wouldn’t have been forced to…” a slap on his face forced him to keep silent.

„SolHi, I don’t think that…” DooSan mumbled while trying to approach her and to touch her arms, but he took a step back, seeing SolHi’s killing glance while squeezing both fists, after releasing her right arm from the splint and that she was ready to punch his face.

Still with the fist clenched, ready to punch DooSan and fighting with the avalanche of emotions from inside her, SolHi hissed through the teeth: „make tracks from in front of me, Han DooSan and … never, ever… I hope not to see you again or I swear that I do not respond to my actions! And … if you are so sure of your theory … that I’m crazy and that I have … hallucinations due to the „guilt” felt for Han YuSan’s death, then prove it in the Court. I’ll be there if I have to, but if not, if you can’t prove that I’m crazy … then I hope to never see you two again… never in my life.”

She pushed DooSan away from her and left the roof despite DooSan’s efforts to make her stay. „SolHi, wait! This is not what do you think…” but DooSan was impeded to leave the roof by GhiYon who grabbed his hand.

„She’s right, DooSan! I think that if we use this evidence in a trial, we can…”

„Just try it!” DooSan yelled at GhiYon, watching him, furious. „I am the only one who has the right to decide this, GhiYon. Only me… and I don’t think that your theory about her paranoia is right. I consider this being insane and I won’t sue anybody only based on guessing. If it is necessary, I’ll do it having evidence.”

„And my guessing is true, DooSan. It’s true. I can’t believe this… I can’t believe that I’m the only one who still fights for solving YuSan’s case. My friend deserves to…”

„And you are right, GhiYon: in only one thing - that YuSan was your friend, but he was my brother too. Don’t ever dare to say that I don’t want to find out who killed him because I don’t know what I’m capable of and… don’t dare to talk to my mother about such assumptions… she suffered enough, don’t you think? A new trial can kill her. Just as it can kill SolHi and I don’t have the minor intention to kill somebody without being sure that I’m doing the right thing.”

DooSan bent, took the splint from off the ground, and also left in a hurry the roof under GhiYon’s furious glance who murmured unsatisfied: „you’ve been blinded by your sympathy for her, DooSan. Thus, you won’t ever find out the truth. Damn it, you, weak man, who allowed a woman to control his feelings - the same woman who may have killed your brother, idiot.” He deeply breathed in and approached the edge of the roof, looking at the bright light of the day seen all around, but which seemed so grey in GhiYon’s glance.

***

SolHi left a big bouquet of white chrysanths next to the trunk of a rounded, big tree in a beautiful park. Then, she bent and touched the commemorative plaque from off the trunk on which was written: „Here rests an angel!”

Then, she deeply breathed in, trying not to cry, but still, the tears took over her, and then they started to wash her face while she was whispering: „Un, mom is here! Mom finally came, baby boy! After so much time I’m here my boy. I’m sorry, Un! I’m so sorry that it took me so long to come here and to tell you that mom feels sorry for everything, that mom feels so bad knowing that she lost you and…”

She winced, listening to DooSan’s voice behind her: „Mom?” and this made her suddenly turn toward him and watch him with the eyes of a beast. DooSan instead looked at her like crazy, whispering over and over again: „A mother? SolHi, you are a mother? Whose mother?”

Then, DooSan looked at the commemorative plaque and read the inscription „Here rests an angel!” and he remembered that he saw that plaque before: 5 years ago, when he met SolHi in the street, by chance. They did not speak to each other when they met and this was weird because they usually were insulting or blaming each other. But when he saw her in the street, something inside him whispered to him to keep silent and then he spotted the plaque she held at her chest. But even if he saw it before, he could understand, only when he saw that plaque on the tree for whom it had been bought 5 years ago: it was for SolHi’s baby and not for someone she knew how he thought then.

„Whose baby is Un?” DooSan said, barely heard, but it was clear that he listened to SolHi’s words and he also heard the baby’s name. But because SolHi kept silent and looked past him, made DooSan feel angry and shout at her: „I asked whose baby is that child, SolHi!”

„As if this is something you should know!” SolHi said and intended to pass by. Outraged, DooSan grabbed her arm and pushed her back, in front of him, without even paying attention to the fact that he was hurting her: he grabbed her right hand and the sudden move made SolHi feel so harsh the pain in the shoulder, but she said nothing, she just closed her eyes for a second, trying to let the pain pass. When she opened her eyes again, she met DooSan’s furious glance and it made her grimace, upset.

„You… don’t tell me that after burring my brother you’ve decided to enjoy life and made a child. The sky seems that got revenge on you on my brother’s behalf and it was something big,” a slap on his face brought him back to his senses, instead.

„You don’t even know what you are talking about!” SolHi said, weeping. „Punishment? Yes, I’ve been punished cruelly for daring to trust people. What? Happy to find out that the sky took from me the precious person in my life? That the sky took my baby from me? Yes, I lost him. I lost in front of you, I agree. Happy?” SolHi looked at that moment like crazy, but DooSan just grabbed her by arms and, squeezing the flesh, he asked her while piercing her with his furious glance, but it wasn’t a glance that was asking about her child just to be happy with her loss, but it was something that was coming out of him as if it was something vital for DooSan too.

„Tell me! How did your child die?”

„Why? To make you feel truly fulfilled?” SolHi mumbled.

„SolHi! Stop it and answer the question!”

„He died… the same night Han YuSan died too…,” and her words made DooSan shudder. SolHi instead continued to stare at him: „he died after my belly was kicked over and over and over again till this baby was gone. He didn’t even see the daylight. So, you can be happy, DooSan: I paid for my sins with… my baby’s life … for your brother’s life. And now, please, just get lost and leave me to breathe! You have no right to ask me to explain to you this… to ask me what I’m doing here … it’s my problem … it’s just my life.”

„No, SolHi, this isn’t just your problem. Not while we’re living together.”

„I never chose this. You broke into my house, using false reasons for it, just to find out the truth. Well, you found out it: the truth that I remember. Nothing more. If you don’t believe me then you can stay by my side how much do you want, but I assure you that you won’t find out anything else than this. And… DooSan, I promise you that you won’t have ever the chance to close me again, in a cage: I better die and… yes, I’ll do it with my own hand, but I won’t be closed in a cage again, knowing that this gives you the chance to be happy… I better choose to walk onto the path to hell than to make you happy.”

„To hell? Better than to live with me?” DooSan asked, hissing the words.

„Yes, because that will be the hell I’m choosing and not the one you chose for me.”

She pushed him away from her, intending to leave, but DooSan stepped in front of her, blocking her way. „What?” SolHi asked, almost powerless. „Do you have something more to say? Something more to ask me? What else do you want from me? How should I pay more for what it’s supposed that I did? I think I paid enough, with my child’s life. Isn’t this enough for you?! And … you don’t know how this feels. You don’t know how it is to lose a child. So, stop asking for mercy. You are waiting for the impossible from the one who never knew what mercy is. Stop to…”

The fact that DooSan held her suddenly to his chest, made SolHi burst to cry while fighting with him to release herself from his arms, to escape, but DooSan’s „trap” was stronger than the limited power she had at that moment while standing in front of her child’s grave, not knowing that in fact, they both had paid a price bigger than they thought.

And this was seen on DooSan’s face too because he was even more shocked than SolHi was: staring at the commemorative plaque on the trunk, he felt lost, he felt how SolHi was shaking at his chest and for the first time, he understood that she suffered more in the hell in which they all lived all those 7 years: a hell that was slowly killing them all.
