《Hello, Inside Monster》CHAPTER XVII: DON’T WORRY, MORON. I’LL CATCH YOU

SolHi finally fell asleep, after hours and hours of feeling sick and don’t exit the bathroom. Even if she never told anything to Mina, the psychologist knew that something was wrong with her friend. But she also was afraid to ask, because SolHi could remember what really happened that day and this was something Mina couldn’t afford.

Covering her more with the blanket, Mina checked once again her vital signs and, making sure that SolHi is fine already, she made a phone call.

“Did you find out what I asked you?” she asked somebody, after taking a few steps from SolHi so that the other woman wouldn't listen to her words. “Thank you, detective! I appreciate it. Yes, yes, don’t worry! Nobody will know where I got the information from.”

Hanging up the receiver, Mina wrote something on a sheet of paper she found in one of the drawers and left the apartment in a hurry.

SolHi saw her friend leaving the house, but didn’t stand up to say goodbye to her. She still feels dizzy and doesn’t want the pain to return, so she decided to pretend, at least for a while more, the feeling drowsy, while her palms were gently touching her belly and again tears welled up in her eyes.

These ones are welcome because they are cooling the arson of her heart. She finally remembered how it feels to love a child. And she liked it, even if the pain of his loss is unbearable.

She didn’t even hear the beating of his heart. Not even once, because the term of her pregnancy was small and she also was afraid to see her baby, because she felt guilty in front of him.

Yes, she felt guilty, because she couldn’t give him a father to love him and to protect him. It was just a passing night with a stranger into a motel. Nothing more. And both were drunk. At least, this is what SolHi remembers from that night: a party, a lot of shots of whiskey, a handsome man, hot kisses, and a night spent together.

But the surprise came the next morning when she woke up alone in the motel room and he was already gone. Only a gift was forgotten on the bedside table: a pen with three letters engraved in it HDS.

However, HDS doesn’t tell her too much. It can be the name of a lot of men and she couldn’t rely only on this to find him, but God knows how much she wanted this, because something deep inside her, was telling her that he can have something to do with what happened that night, but even so, she had no evidence for it and she could only think about the moment when she will find him, one day, and then she will ask him a lot of things, but the most important is why he went away that day, without telling her at least a word of goodbye.

They both spent the night together and that was a hot night, because she still remembers the touches and the kisses and … everything that came before those kisses, but it seems that it wasn’t important for him, if he left her alone. And he never asked himself about what happened after that with her, because a night spent with a girl, without using protection, for sure can bring some unexpected surprises, but only SolHi had to face it in the end.

And this is also her fault. Nobody told her to drink that much at that party. If she wasn’t drunk, maybe nothing of what happened after this wouldn’t have happened, but this was only a theory and while it was spinning in her head, over and over again, SolHi fell asleep again, waved by the sweet kisses of that night.

The power of kiss with SolHi that night left in DooSan’s soul a kind of anxiety. He doesn’t understand if it was related to the fact that they hate each other so much or that he started to feel something for her.

“This is madness!” he said while supporting his hands on the washstand edge. He was sitting in front of the mirror for about half an hour already, after exiting the shower cabin.

Wrapped only in a towel and with the cold drops of water, falling from his wet hair, he decided to sort out the thoughts that were invading his mind and were tormenting him.

Even if he didn't want to accept it, he had liked the kiss. It was hot, keen, and … it awoke in him feelings a long time ago asleep.

And he remembered again. A night spent with a stranger a few years ago, but he doesn’t remember her face. It is something that still blows his mind, because he had tried to find her later, but it had been impossible: nobody knew who that girl was and where he could find her.

They met in a nightclub on his birthday. He was there with YuSan and a lot of his friends, but none of them remembered later the girl and how DooSan and she met. The only thing that someone remembered was that she wasn’t a Korean girl or at least she wasn’t looking like one, because her blond hair and white skin, like the Europeans, have been betrayed her as being a foreigner, but DooSan doubted about it because when he remembers a short conversation they had, in his ears is still sounding that voice: clear, melodious and with a perfect Korean accent.

And what was more surprising was the fact that SolHi was reminding him about that day. She also had European traces on her face, because she had European blood in her veins. Her father wasn’t Korean. He came to the country a long time ago, met SolHi’s mother, married her and when SolHi was only a few months he left, and from what DooSan knows he never returned.

He found out this when he started to investigate YuSan’s case, but he doesn’t know the rest of the story of SolHi’s parents, but even if her body was alluringly and was attracting him in a strange way, he thought always about this as being a product of his imagination.

“Enemies can feel this from time to time. It’s because of our human nature. Our mind is playing a prank on us. Nothing more. Even though she's hot and beautiful, she killed my brother. I can’t feel anything for her. It’s forbidden,” was trying to calm himself down, every time his feelings were taking over him.

And he almost always succeeded in it, but today was different. He had had her in his arms. And he wanted her. He wanted her so badly, but the time wasn’t perfect: he still thinks that she’s guilty of what happened to YuSan and he can’t afford to have her. Even though it will be for a night because he’s afraid to fall in love with her and, losing his head to forget about getting revenge.

A deafening knock on the door awoke him. “At this hour in the night?” he said, watching the clock, which was showing 3 o’clock in the morning.

Taking something on him, DooSan approached the door, but when he opened it, instead of a “hello” a slap surprised him and he saw in front of him a furious Mina, whose eyes were sparkling fire and ready to attack him once again.

“You… bastard! You won’t ever give up on her, don’t you? I told you to let her go, but you never listen. Or what, should I transform myself into a criminal to understand it?”

“Why are you here, Doctor Park?”

“From what I see you know well SolHi’s friends. You are always spying on her, even if she’s about to die without doing anything to help her, as today, isn’t it?”

“If it wasn’t me, your friend would have been dead by now. I tried to bring her to a hospital, but you know her better than me. She’s so stubborn…”

“You made her like this. She wasn’t like that 7 years ago. She was kind, and sweet and friendly, till the moment she met you and your brother. Damn you be…”

“Shut your mouth!” practically yelled DooSan, but he right away lowered his voice, looking around, not to attract someone’s hatred at that late hour in the night. “If you don’t have anything else to say, better go…” and he tried to enter the apartment, but Mina grabbed his arm, squeezing his flesh with all the strength she was able at that moment.

“Listen to me carefully, monster Han DooSan. I’m not SolHi. I won’t just wait and allow you to trample her underfoot, only because she feels guilty for what happened to your brother. I’m different and I’m capable of doing everything to protect her. Stay away from her or I swear that the next body your team will investigate will be yours, found God knows in what hole.”

Saying this, Mina went away, leaving behind her an unpleasantly astonished DooSan, who didn't expect such a reaction from her. And damn he wanted to have SolHi in front of him at that moment to ask her to pay him for everything she owes him.

A beautiful sun is illuminating SolHi’s apartment through the open curtains. She’s still asleep and on her face, a sweet smile can be seen.

But suddenly she jumped in the bed and looked at the clock: 10 AM in the morning and staring at the clock needles as if it was a demon, SolHi yelled a “He will kill me for sure for being late” and she ran into the bathroom and after 10 minutes of a deafening noise coming out from that place, she exited and dressing with the speed of light she gave a phone call: “Yoon Suk, do me a favor. Tell everyone that I’m investigating something and because of this I’m late. Don’t ask more! Just do what I told you!” and hanging up the phone, with only a shoe put on she ran out of the apartment, heading toward the elevator, while she was putting on the other shoe.

But that wasn’t her morning for sure, because the elevator wasn’t coming and while keep watching the watch, from second to second, while the needles were moving at full speed, she decided that it wasn’t the perfect time to wait more and she ran down the stairs.

In the street, it was even worse. The sun was already in the sky and it was too hot. And on top of that … the bus was leaving.

“Oh, damn!” she mumbled, furious of seeing in front of her eyes the moment Han DooSan will kill her for sure for coming late to work, especially after the last night, because the leaving bus meant an hour of waiting more and what SolHi didn’t want, was the fact that DooSan could consider she was taking advantage of the last night.

She tried to find a taxi, but none was free, so she crawled her legs toward the bus station, convinced to take a deep breath, before a sure death.

***

Still in his car, DooSan is watching toward the bus station, where SolHi was waiting for the public transport, while her fingers were moving quickly through her hair, really messing with it and this provoked a smile on him because she was really looking funny.

“She definitely lost her mind,” he whispered and, pressing the gas pedal, he left the place. And the calmness again took hold of him, because he saw she’s fine, and even if his feelings for her were a real mess, he at least knew that he still had a chance with her: to take revenge or … God knows what fate prepared for them.
