《Hello, Inside Monster》CHAPTER XI: KEEPSAKE OF DEATH

SolHi is staring at the cobra head tattoo on SinJu's left hand. The man is preparing a cocktail, but he also noticed SolHi’s piercing glance toward his keepsake.
“Do you like tattoos, detective?”
“You can say so, but more than the tattoos I like those who wear them. And do you know why mister Min?” and SolHi stared into the man’s eyes the color of grass.
“She knows,” SinJu said to himself, but instead of avoiding her gaze, he bent over the bar, lying on his forearms, and he sketched a cynical smile at her. “You are pretty.”
“Nice trick, idiot, but it won’t work with me,” SolHi said to herself, but she decided to enter his game. “More than pretty, I’m the best at biting. More poisonous than a Cobra.”
“Nice hint!” and SinJu stood again up, continuing the preparation of the cocktail. “It means that you won’t accept to have a drink with me, don’t you, detective?”
“Only if I’m dreaming about being offered as a gift in a box with a red bow” and SolHi stared into his eyes, waiting for the slightest detail of his guilt, but SinJu didn’t even blink. “It’s tough, motherfucker. But honey, you didn't find the right person to play with.”
“Am I a suspect, detective? From what I know you two came here to ask something, but instead of just entering and asking, you organized such a show in front, that…”
“We tried, but your “dogs” preferred to bit instead of talking,” Yu teased the others. “What?” the inspector faced a big guy, who was intending to start a fight again, but seeing the gun, he turned back.
“Inspector, are you trying to accuse us of attacking a man of law?”
“No. I’m not trying. I said it, shortly and clearly, right in front of your nose. Why? Don't you agree with this? If not, you may complain to my boss, but I’m definitely sure you won’t succeed.”
“Don’t be so sure inspector Yu. Our “friend” here has a lot of allies, ready to poison others to save this one’s ass.”
“Watch your tongue, detective Ian!” SinJu harshly told SolHi and his eyes started to spitfire.
“I caught you, rat!” and, bending on the bar, SolHi pushes Li Ha Ni’s photo toward SinJu. “Tell me about her.”
SinJu only got a brief glimpse of the photo. “Who’s she?”
“I don’t know. You tell me!” and SolHi insisted to receive an answer and she rhythmically tapped with the finger the photo.
“First time I saw her,” quickly came SinJu’s answer.
“Really? Why do I have the feeling that this is a lie?”
“Detective Ian, if you want to tell me something, just say it. Don’t snoop around the subject. I’m a busy man and I don’t have…”

“Of course, you are a busy man. Especially when it’s related to women and don’t tell me that you never saw her, because it’s a fucking lie” and another photo is thrown in front of SinJu, but this time is a photo of him and Ha Ni together, in a tender position. “You never saw her, huh? When: before or after we found her dead, in a gift box?”
“What? Ha Ni is dead?”
“Wow, you remembered who she was and her name too. So fast and try to emphasize more your emotions. It’s so pathetic. So, when did you see her last time?” and the one who spits fire through her eyes is SolHi this time, staring at her opponent, ready to break him into pieces.
“Damn! Has anyone ever told you that you are …”?
“A hunting dog? Yes, every single day, and answer that damn question at once, mister Min. When did you see her?”
“Two days ago. She came here to ask for money as she always did and…”
“What convenient,” Yu mumbled. “For the dead one, I mean. As she can’t say what is true and what is a lie right now…”
“I don’t like your tone, inspector…”
“And I don’t like yours, Min SinJu. Stop talking like that with my partner and answer the question. Why did you deny the fact you two were lovers?”
“Ex-lovers, ok? And I didn’t deny anything. I just … didn’t want to mention it. How to say: what was between me and Ha Ni was just simple … “remember old times”. You know… body warmth in cold times. I’m sure you also experience something like this, detective…”
“No. Never, because if I end something it will be well ended. I don’t like to “remember” former times. I prefer new ones.”
“What a shame. You should try it: I bet you will like it and,” but SinJu ended his speech when not far from them showed up a waitress, Mire, who was piercing them with her gaze.
“From what I see, she didn’t like your “former lovers” too.
“That isn’t already your business.”
“Do you say so?! Well, if… maybe we should talk better with her, what do you think, inspector Yu?”
“I think that will be a good idea.”
“Then bring a fucking order. You won’t talk to any of my employees without a Court order and as I think I told you more than enough already, get lost from here. Both of you!”
“An order? Well, if you insist so much, I’ll bring one, but that one will be of your arrest, idiot!” SolHi took the cocktail and finished it with a sip, but before exiting the club, she put another photo in front of SinJu. “Over the walnuts and the wine! Enjoy it, motherfucker!”

SinJu stares for a few moments behind SolHi and Yu and then he looks at the photo: Ha Ni’s dead body. “You will pay me for this, detective Ian SolHi or I’m not Min SinJu anymore!"
***
Exiting the club, SolHi gives the gun to Yu. “Keep it for me or I swear today another dead body will be found.”
“Why did you provoke him then?”
“Because he knows more than he says. Soon they’ll start to move and we can’t lose them."
SolHi crosses first the street, watching on both sides for the approaching cars, even if it was still red at the traffic light.
“She definitely lost her mind!” mumbled Yu, still waiting for the green light.
***
“Mopsic?!” was heard behind DooSan, who slowly turned his head and stared at the motorcyclist that just stopped next to him and was taking off his helmet.
“What did you say? Mopsic?”
“Yeah. Detective Ian told me to leave the moto with the mopsic face that waits here. So, keep an eye on her, please!” and, grinning pleasantly, the motorcyclist throws the key to DooSan and leaves away.
“Whaaa, this woman … is something! Turkey … mopsic … I feel like I’m at the Zoo. Only the giraffe is missing!”
“Next time I’ll tell them to call you this way if you prefer” and SolHi takes the key from DooSan’s hand, at all bothered by his killing glance. Then, she climbs on the moto, putting on the helmet. “Why hire a killer with such a prosecutor in charge? Better to save some money!” and, starting the engine, SolHi leaves the place at full speed, leaving a furious DooSan behind her.
“I swear I will kill this girl. Or ... or… Mopsic??? Killer?? Do I have a killer or mopsic face?”
“Why are you so upset, prosecutor Han? I think mopsic is cute and you should smile more often and let’s go. We have things to bite … wow, sorry, to do.”
Yu goes first, leaving DooSan spitting fire behind him.
“Wha, these two now are allies. I need to change my partner. I definitely need to change him. Traitors!” and, mumbling like an empty barrel in the rain, DooSan follows Yu in a hurry.
***
Still on the bike and with the helmet on her head, SolHi spies on the back door of the club. Soon after, she sees Mire leaving the club in a hurry and moving toward the main road.
SolHi waits for a few moments and then she follows the waitress on the moto, till Mire gets to the main road and stopping a taxi she gets in.
“The first canary flew away. I’m after him. Don’t lose the cage!” she speaks in the headphones and soon after she follows the taxi in a hurry.
***
“Canary? What canary? Don’t tell me that it's Min SinJu who ran through the back door?” DooSan asks Yu, while they are waiting in the car, not too far from the entrance to the club.
“No. That is his mistress. Another waitress. SolHi “smelled” her, while we were talking to Min SinJu. Wha, she definitely has eagle eyes. Right away she knew that between those two is something … and here is our cage, leaving … Hey, hey, guy, where is he hurrying up? Is somewhere burning?” and the engine sounds are heard right away.
“Of course, it burns … his ass. Don’t lose him” and they follow at full speed SinJu’s car.
***
“What’s wrong with me?” wonders SolHi when she sees that she’s sweating a lot and her eyes are seeing everything blurred. “Damn! That idiot drugged me!”
She’s about to fall off the moto when she hears the hooter of a car insistently honking and, turning her head toward there, SolHi sees DooSan making signs to her to pull over, but she hears his voice so far away and the words are reaching her ears with delay. “pull … over… do you hear me? Over!”
A speeder man decides to pass her and forces SolHi to pull right, but she loses the moto’s control and right away falls down, rolling a few meters on the asphalt, but without hitting anything.
Yu stops the car, a few meters from her, and the two men run toward her. “Detective Ian, are you ok? Yu asks her, while carefully taking off the helmet.
SolHi is barely conscious, because of the drug, but Yu could understand that she’s not hurt, and, checking her, he sees that is definitely so.
“She will be fine,” DooSan mumbled unpleasantly. “The speed was low, but I can’t understand what’s wrong with her. Is she drunk?”
“No. The beverage was fake.”
“Beverage? Are you crazy? Why did she drink if…”?
“I wanted to check him,” SolHi whispers. “And the rat fell into the trap. Don’t lose him, prosecutor Han. He’s our assassin” and SolHi lost consciousness.
“Take care of her, inspector. I’ll catch that rat, but you two will listen to me tomorrow and it definitely won’t be something sweet.”
DooSan leaves the place on the moto, leaving behind him a crowded place because a lot of drivers stopped their cars and were watching SolHi and Yu as if they were specimens at Zoo.

The Grey Realm, an Erebus Story.
Written by: Staugroan and The Inklets. Edited by: Claudia Adams. In the beginning there was a god, who watched over and made one world his own. Soon after the god grew restless, but happened to stumble on a small world filled with life. This world was named Erebus by its peoples; humanity. The god was so fascinated with this new world that he started to copy it back home, creating oceans, forests, deserts, and so forth. Then the god created life and eventually his favored creations who would be immortals and be the better of mankind in every way-the elves. So often the god had traveled to Erebus that the two worlds became linked by magic and their inhabitants could cross at will. Relations between the races flourished, and a great empire was born in the Grey Realm, home of the elves. But the god once again grew restless, and set loose great beasts that stood at the top of any food chain, the apex. At first the elves met the challenge and fought them head on. But mankind was not so lucky, they died in droves to push back even a single apex. Something had to be done. Elves and man worked together to begin sealing off the worlds to protect mankind, to limit the ways in and out to better fight the apex off and keep their fellows safe. The ritual had adverse effects the likes of which neither the elves nor man could predict; the sealing of the worlds started slow, but the magic had never been done before, and in their ignorance it spread to completely cut the two worlds off from one another. It ejected the apex, and other magical being back into the Grey Realm, saving Erebus. At first the elves were content, they would find a way back once the apex were dead and gone. But the seal had done more than keep Erebus locked away. The powersource of the seal was magic itself, from both worlds, and it consumed it all greedily. The elves, weakened without their magic, crumbled into ruin, and the apex were free to hunt the other races of the Grey Realm. Two-thousand years later a strange phenomena is occurring and magic is slowly returning to the Grey Realm, and tears open that allow passage to Erebus. Thu'lain and a few elves must make the journey to fallen kingdom of the elves Anosora, in the hopes of reclaiming what was once theirs. They must face their nemesis the apex, and survive not only the species that have turned against them, but a terrible being left behind by the god to kill even the apex. Uch'l'thein, the faceless terror.
