I had a nice time killing stuff, I didn't feel like sleeping though. So I didn't, I always disliked sleeping anyways. I've had a few months without sleep in my time on Ithil, I don't think I can do that here with my megre vitality though. It was about time to leave the dungeon, I came around to pick up the minions. It took a few minutes to round the losers up, it was like I was herding chickens.
I quickly ran up to the top, forcing the minions to run faster. It took me a few minutes of berating the interns while they ran as fast as possible, it took so long, for me at least.
After I left the dungeon I felt free once more, no more needing to keep Erebus with the monster to babysit it. The fact that a forge should be in my room made me happy, my true power was going to be unchained. I got some more electrical engineering knowledge from the dream, I felt as though I had wasted years of my life on the subject, and the burnout that came with it.
I told a white lie about the monster being a variant, and threw it into the range outside my room and out of my hair. I saw the forge in my room the moment I entered, I already felt my greed for exp start to take over.
After a few minutes I found a problem with the forge, you can't make copper wire with blacksmithing. I needed to get a crucible and make a mold for that shit, I guess it's time for me to get back to buying shit through my lieason. Speak of the devil Osgar came in, not listening to his report "Buy me a crucible, and how is the project coming along?"
"I can't buy a crucible, nobody makes them anymore. And the project failed, they can't make the intrecate designs." Osgar said to my question
"If you can't get me a crucible then get me clay, shouldn't cost to much. And put the project on hold until further notice, wait until they get higher skill levels." I instructed, there was something I was wondering about "When will father start looking for a marraige partner?" If Osgar had coffie in his mouth he would've spit it out.

He said a bit in shock "I-I don't know, Duke hasn't discussed it with the elders yet." I frowned at that, that waste of a father. I need a good political marraige for more resources, and I need more influence to get some nobleman minions. I'll need to reason with him, and I thought noble families had an overflow of arranged marraiges. I guess I was wrong, my day is ruined and my dissapointment is immeasureable.
I sent him away and thought of what to do, I had the ability to multitask in mana and reseaching the bible of light. So that was what I did, sometimes making stuff with carpentry or blacksmithing.
After Osgar got me some clay I made a bowl, after making sure there weren't any air bubbles of course. I slowly increased the temprature in the forge to see what would happen, it formed cracks at some point. When I took it out it just crumbled, but I got a new skill. 'Pottery' pretty basic but sort of useful, I guess? The second time I tried to make something with the clay, a bowl again, I felt that I should dry it first. As if instinctual, but I was used to this, most people are.
I listened to it and made a few bowls and crucibles, I also tried my hand at making an actual vase, a crude one but still a vase. But I just wasn't good a enough at it yet, this all happened in one day. Though I didn't really talk with Dieas since the dungeon 'What are you doing?'
It seemed that they had finally left the nest 'Pottery... And trying to make a crucible.'
Deais turned silent, and I didn't care enough to talk to them. My instincts told me that I had to dry it for about a week, and in that week of waiting I made a table for drying pottery. I had to into a dungeon, I got in second place this time. I got some trash that I didn't need, some knowledge for me the one who could easily look for it in the library.
A week later the clay was ready, he did the same thing as last time but it worked. There were fractures made due to my inexperience, and it was very brittle also due to my inexperience. After doing it a few times I leveled up the skill, this time it told me to put sand in it for some reason? It told me the sand was a 'grog', it makes the cracks while drying less pronounced and gives strength, or something like that.
This time while waiting for the clay to dry I tried to make some armor for myself, but it failed. The skill may subsitute casting in higher levels but mine isn't at that level, this was a problem. But not so big of one, there was also something I wanted to test out.
The test failed, I wanted to make a ball bearing but I can't make small smooth balls. Without casting and a mold, if I were to make two molds with half small ball shaped indents in them then poured metal in it over what it should have then press them against eachother forcing the metal to form full balls. But for that I need a crucible, and that's what I'm waiting for. God damn it, everything needs a crucible now.

And I made some shit, leveled my skills up. And trained in the most time consuming process of all of them; Ocultism. This was what I focused on, I tried to translate all the vague speach into a way to summon some demon.
One day I started to do some ritual I made up with vague wording in the bible as the foundation, I got the head of a sinner in a circle then said some bullshit "Oh great Gaia bless me with your ancient power! In exchage I give the soul of a sinner and one-thousand essence!" The head dissapeared with cool VFX and I lost 1000 essence, I gained the Occultism skill and some exp for all of my skills. I had finally done it, I helped Erebus in his way of magic a bit and completely forgot about Deais.
Little Dieas woke up from his half a year nap, I think 'You actually fuckin' did it, you're good.'
I haughtily 'It was but a matter of time 'till I got it, but seriously the wording was so vague I could pretty much make the bible say whatever I wanted. Sacrificing the head of a sinner while saying it was the soul because the bible said that the soul was in the brain, it was on the more tame side of the spectrum. I could have flayed a young kid and killed his family infront of him then sacrifice him, I think I did the right thing here.'
'Oh my me, you could actually interpret that? My self, that's horrifying, litteraly' Deais said horrified.
I nodded 'It is, but I would still do it, only if necessary though. It's annoying to torture someone, and all that other shit would take so long to perpare.' I groaned at the thought of all the work it would take, but luckily all the shit I had to do like getting the head of a sinner would change to something a bit more reasonable 'At least I can skip all the preperation I needed to do with that severed head, no need to get a priest to make sure there isn't any 'evil mojo' in it, no need to bathe it in holy water constantly for a week. and all the other stuff to make a severed head become a catalyst to connect with the divine power of Gaia, gone.'
I was now going to use Dieas instead of Gaia, but that doesn't matter now. I looked at the newest of crucible technology, it was getting close to my standard. I find what I've done quite impressive, I never did anything to do with pottery before this and haven't gotten any teacher to help me. There was a build up of swords daggers and other simple weapons in a corner of the house, he wasn't able to sell any of it yet he gifted some to randoms that had a birthday or something to get rid of a few. These weapons were my new go to gift, I had way to many, in the houndreds by now. And I wasn't shamed for throwing a few away, anything with a rank was already good enough even if they were 'normal'.
I looked at the makeshift callender, no one had a birthday that I could use to lower my build-up. When Osgar came around I asked him if there was an excuse today, he said there was "Your mother gave birth, you could give them one."
I squinted my eyes "Wait.. She was pregnant?"
Osgar said, used to me not having much info about others "Yes, she's been like that for a while. It isn't that suprising that nobody told you, what kind of son wouldn't know they would soon get a little brother or sister."
I had a small thought then told him "This is a enough of a reason to throw away a few weapons, give both mother and father two swords and come back in like an hour to pick up the gift for the child. If I don't give something more personal then I'd lose a lot of prestige." I then looked away and had another thought "After some thought, give the kid a weapon too." I then gave him the weapons and sent him on his way.
I picked a cuboid plank and made a whirlabout toy, and gave it to Osgar to give to the kid. I wondered How long it would take for my crucibles yo get up to standard, hopefully before the end of the year. But breaking me out of my trance 'You do know you can buy some stuff now right?' He had probably noticed that all the divine power he should've gained was halved, the thing was that he's alive due to me and he can still gain divine power due to me, making that condition in the contract to give me half of all the divine power he gained.
To be honest, I forgot about that in one and a half months. I get one unit of divine power per two months, I kinda just forgot. Also, Dieas indentifies as a male. Just if you're wondering, you can never be sure someone notices the undertones in your naration.

A potent tale of self-discovery. Centuries ago, the prophetic Golden Age ended in war, and history spiraled into darkness... But looming over the gears of fate, their enemies follow the same prophesies. With the unknown close upon them, Kingard and his allies face a mortal quest to restore their infected empire. Praise for Awakening: If you love Anne McCaffrey, J.R.R. Tolkien and Tad Williams, then Awakening is a novel you will surely want to pick up. D.N.Frost is a consummate world-builder with a knack for creating characters that are complex and three-dimensional. Frost writes with graceful prose that is descriptive and well-edited. The plot is fast-paced and entertaining. What really sets this novel apart is the cartography, which is a spectacular accomplishment. Incredible world-building! - M.L. Spencer, author of The Rhenwars Saga ★★★★★ This novel was published in 2014, and it includes 19 antique watercolor maps! Check them out: Maps of Awakening: an atlas directory
8 140Demon Hunters
Far in the future, the last two viable cities in the western hemisphere – Technoburbia and New Baravia – struggle for control over a vast and largely desolate land. Officially they are at war. In practice, the war has been a stalemate for a generation, the disputed frontier between the two city-states never moving. In the city of New Baravia itself, a vast circular concrete wall keeps its inhabitants in, and its refugees out. For its citizens, life is monotonous and unequal, with enormous wealth in the hands of nobles, criminal gangs, and entertainment bosses. It is the last of these that control the hit entertainment show, “Demon Hunters”. A chance, perhaps, for the ordinary man or woman to rise up, and change their fate... This LitRPG novella is based around a futuristic battle-royale situation, partly set in VR, and partly in a post-apocalyptic city. The story features combat and action, some strong language, and lots of great characters that will stick with you! [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
