RB Chapter 152 Teamwork

Leah felt as if a hammer had just hit her head. If it hadn't been for the fact that her spinal vertebrae was as flexible as that of a snake, it would have snapped at the neck!

"Leeeeaaaah!" That roar contained a multitude of negative emotions. It shook the air particles, and even the cat itself felt a chill run down the back of its spine. That had been Elena. Her anguish had made her unconsciously unleash the lion's roar.

Before the cat could take any further action, a leg appeared just under its right arm. It was covered in blue electric snakes.

Crunch!

This time, the force was too much to be dispersed so a rib or two cracked as the kick hurled it away into the distance. A boom rang out and many leaves rained down due to the sonic shockwave.

"Leah! Are you okay?" Eric's hands were shaking as he reached in to get her out of the crater.

'I was too careless! I should have used spectrum abilities from the start!' He blamed himself.

"Puff!...kuh!" When she was pulled out, she coughed out crimson, with her face pale.

Terrifying gullies had appeared on the emerald scales guarding her face. The good thing in all this was that the scales managed to prevent the claws from breaking into skin.

"I...am...oka...puff!" She tried to reassure him, but more blood clogged up her throat, causing her to spit it out.

Multiple explosions rang out in the distance as he cradled her. Chloe was raising hell upon the cat.

"Leah! Are you really okay?" A worried Elena had arrived sometime ago, but had not spoken up until now.

"I...am okay." She persuaded. She still had some lingering fear. If the scales hadn't been reinforced with energy, causing them to become thicker, her head would have probably been turned into chopped pieces!

Boom! Piak!

The sound of a something hitting wet ground was heard. The battlefield had shifted into the swamp.

Chloe and the cat were moving at such speeds that the mud and puddles appeared to be solid ground with every step they took. Multiple blows were being exchanged every second. She was still following Eric's request of not using any of the spectrum level powers.

"There is no need to blame yourself. We came out here to put our teamwork in order." Leah had recovered enough to speak. She comforted Eric.

'Shit! What's with this woman? Her battle instincts are spot on!' The cat was shocked by how easily Chloe was handling all its moves, even the sinister ones. It was on the back foot now that it was fighting head on, which wasn't its speciality.

Pah! Pah! Pah!

Chloe was simply pinching with fists clad in electricity, coupled with the occasional kick. Every attack that made contact caused a malfunction in the cat's nerves, paralysing and slowing it down.

That led to more attacks and it was even starting to feel some parts of its body becoming numb.

Zzzzzzt!

A bolt of electricity zigzagged across the muddy ground and joined Chloe in the attack. It wasn't the only one though!

Spit!

A glob of green liquid headed for the cat's face only for it to shift slightly, allowing it to harmlessly pass by. A mouth widely opened and chomped down on its left arm, but it blurred and the jaws only caught the wind. Those had been the first attacks of Leah and Chloe upon joining the battlefield.

Chloe and Eric were chaining attacks like pros, every movement in sync. The cat defended and defended, not even given any chance to retaliate.

A round kick thrown its way by Eric, caused the black cat to arch its body, literally only holding itself from crashing into the ground using its knee joints!

The leg left a trail of electric sparks while whooshing by, and they were captured by its eyes.

Before its body could even spring back, Elena took that opening to appear directly near the right side of its head. Her eyes were shining, the anguish from Leah almost dying hadn't cleared from her head. Her mouth opened and she prepared to roar point blank into the cat's ears!

Before she could go along with her attack though, the black silk like strands of fur on its left cheek abruptly sprang up and stood up, like the cat had been shocked with electricity. Then they elongated at a very fast speed!

Elena was so shocked that she retreated. She had no doubt that those fur needles would have pocked holes through her skull!

Another, took action at that same moment, an emerald tail sweeping over and coiled itself around the left foot of the cat.

'Shit!' It cursed in its mind upon feeling the tightening sensation.

From the left, a plasma coated fist took that chance to head towards the left rib cage of the cat!

Chloe had attacked with such impeccable timing!

The cat's pupils constricted violently, this time from fear. These four were going to kill it if it kept being in the back foot!

Meow!

Rage took over its mind causing energy to be channelled ruthlessly. Its pupils glinted with malice.

"Retreat!" A voice simultaneously echoed inside the minds of all the three. It had been an order from Eric. Before their minds even registered the command, like puppets on an invisible string, they reflexively pulled back.

All the fur of the cat stood on end, like spears planted into the ground, their tips to the sky. Every single strand elongated to about half a meter, and using its right leg as the pivot to start, it spun horizontally in midair!

Shew!

Multiple black spikes pierced over from its body into an indiscriminate attack!

The sounds of metal clashing and flesh being pierced through rang out

The moment the spikes pierced over, Eric spread his domain. Every single spike that encroached inside, entered his senses.

That also brought a dilemma. Should he use his spectrum abilities, or not? If he used them, he could protect both Leah and Chloe.

As his gaze swivelled over to Leah, he saw that her face, even hidden by the scales had a rare trace of seriousness. There was resolve in that gaze.

In order not to besmirch that, he chose not to interfere!

Some of Leah's emerald scales stood up, forming a 90° angle with her flesh, they dislodged at a speed not inferior to the spikes and intercepted many of them.

Elena, on the other hand used her roar, she channelled so much energy and released a single vibration, which compressed the air and became visible. It was like a ripple, wherever it passed, the spikes shattered inch by inch until they totally disintegrated!

Chloe and Eric took the same action, they deflected all the incoming spikes with a reaction speed surpassing that of a reflex action, by directly stimulating their muscle movements with electricity, bypassing the middleman, the brain.
