RB Chapter 133 War is Coming
"If...I...didn't cherish...talent, you would...already be...dead." A figure spoke.
This place was located in the south western direction, away from Kampala city. It was still the same day but, noon.
The sun was bearing down on this place, three figures were casually sitting in a circle, with multiple black figures surrounding them.
A fourth figure, its fur coated in blood was kneeling in the middle of the clearing, looking miserable.
The one which had talked, was a white furred monkey, clad in black fur clothing with a staff placed at its side, wrapped up in beast hide.
It was seating on a tree stump, casually looking down on the white furred gorilla under it. The stump was a bit high, leaving its feet dangling in the air. The fallen tree was behind the stump, its green leaves, still vibrantly colorful, signifying that it had just been chopped.
The white furred gorilla kneeling down, was the one which had seeked information from the figure in the lake. Its troop was surrounding this place, but they didn't dare take action. Expressions of rage, fear, anger and horror were visible in their eyes as they regarded the three figures, seated upon three stumps.
One of the other two was a yellow furred monkey which seemed to be in a daze. It wasn't showing any interest in the kneeling gorilla.
The other, was a sinister shadow, yes...a shadow. All light that entered it vanished, like it was a black hole. It was disrupting the movement of light with its mental domain.
The three figures placed a powerful pressure on all the other beings present.
'These three have the same mental powers as that being.' The white furred gorilla thought. Even though it appeared miserable, it was calm.
"The humans...are about to...start a...war." The white furred monkey looked down with its red pupils.
"I...am...forming an...elite squad. Would you...want to be...a part...of it?" It asked.
The invitation caused the eyes of the white furred gorilla to flicker. It moved its gaze towards the black furred gorillas in the distance and hesitation appeared in its eyes.
"I can't abandon my troop." It said after some time.
"Your troop, isn't important, they lack true intelligence, like you. If you join, you get to reach the same power level as us." The black shadow on the other stump said.
"You yourself said that they are launching a war. A small troop ultimately has limitations." The monkey argued, silencing the two.

"What I want...is to...be able destroy...an entire human city...with just this troop." The white furred monkey explained.
"The humans...are...humiliating us...stealing our abilities...through genetic editing... How long...before we...become...annihilated?"
'Hah! This monkey talks so slow! But it has a point. Though I am sure it will become an enemy of that monster in the lake.' The white furred gorilla deduced.
"Do you have a name?" The white furred gorilla asked.
"Hmmm!?" The question caused all three lifeforms on the stump to pour their gazes over the white furred gorilla.
"Names...are for...humans! It looks like...you want to...become...like them!" The monkey shouted, releasing its mental domain, and causing the gorilla to bleed out of its orifices.
'I swear! I will never allow myself to be this weak again if I survive this. I will search for ways to reach their level even if it is very risky!' The white furred gorilla swore in its mind as it endured the crashing pressure.
"Raaaaaaarrrrrrrh!" A collective roar from the gorilla troop surrounding this clearing created visible sound waves in the air. They had been enraged at the present circumstance of their leader and were trying to intimidate the trio on the tree stumps.
The black shadow on the tree stump distorted, causing a danger to envelop the entire roaring troop. They immediately seized and looked over in fear. Some even choken on their saliva.
"Now, that's better." It said, causing the dangerous feeling to vanish.
"This...is a warning...never mention...the customs...of the humans...again." The white furred monkey dragged out on the words a bit longer, and only withdrew the pressure when it had finished.
"It appears this gorilla won't join us. We need to search for another beast." The yellow furred monkey finally spoke.
"That's going to be a bit hard, we came upon this creature by chance. It is going to take us a long time to gather the six members that you want." The shadow also spoke.
After talking, they all stayed silent and waited for the decision of the white furred monkey.
"You...can take...your troop and...scram!" The white furred monkey ordered.
The gorilla staggered on its feet upon standing up, but is back was ramrod straight. It turned around and staggered out of the clearing. Its legs had become strained from the pressure. It seemed that the pressure didn't simply target the brain!

It went and vanished into the trees, its troop also following.
"This war...its...going...to be...cruel." The white furred monkey stared into the sky while saying that.
"But...I am...going...to slaughter THEM!" A grin spread on its face as it imagined the coming carnage.
'Next year...you humans will understand... that even we beasts are strong!' It thought.

"I have made a fascinating discovery. Over 50% of my genome isn't from a human." Eric, was in the lab resting after a bunch of experiments. A few days had passed, and he was now capable of doing the experiments without supervision. He had mastered the usage of all the equipment in the lab.
"Your body has a lot of mysteries. I have never seen such an exquisitely designed genome! This surpasses all our current attainments!" Dr. Marcus, who was in the seat opposite him continuously praised, with amazement thick in his voice.
"The person who created this genome was literally trying to create a genuine dragon, a creature of myth!"
"The genome contains, the horns of a cow, the mane of a lion, the scales of a snake...and many others! You said that your transformation causes horns to grow out of your forehead, and scales to cover your body?" Dr. Marcus asked. Eric hadn't hidden anything. He had gotten the doctor to become privy about himself, except for the information about his mother.
"Yes."
"And the person who did it, also altered the individual genes themselves, making the snake genes to express themselves in a rhombus pattern instead of the semicircular pattern! Genius! How I want to meet him or her!" Dr. Marcus had glowing eyes.
"I doubt Baguma had such expertise." He tried searching through his mind to see if there were any suspects. But he eventually shook his head. No one that he knew had such attainments.
"I have also been working on that project. So far the results haven't been satisfactory." Eric changed the subject.
"You still haven't found a suitable RNA to carry your created bases into the DNA? That's what experimentation is for, there is no need to be frustrated. All scientists have to be patient. Results don't just come from the sky." Dr. Marcus lectured.
"If only, we had a quantum computer." Eric said.
"Yeah. Even I would love to have such a machine, but they are too expensive, the reason being that some of the material required to make them can't be synthesized in a lab. It has to be dug from mines." Even Dr. Marcus found it to be a pity.
Both men, old and young sighed heavily at that.
"I also have to participate in the war, and by then, I won't have time to experiment." Eric lamented.
"Too bad you are just an apprentice. If you had been a fully fledged bio-engineer, it would have been too easy to revoke your participation." Dr. Marcus revealed.
"There is such a thing!" Eric exclaimed before sighing heavily and collapsing back into the chair.
"There are going to be plenty of samples flora and fauna from the frontlines that even I won't be able to help with your experiment." Dr. Marcus was also going to be very busy.
The underground cities were going to be providing support for the cities aboveground. City 72 was going to provide aid to Kampala city. All the branches of the super organisations were channeling their resources into Kampala city on a daily basis.
Everyone with a little bit of combat expertise had been drafted, except do the high executives of the branches, like Mugumivu. Eric had even heard from Elena, that he had used some of his priviledges to make it so that miss Njibwa wasn't going to participate in the war.
"A war is a very terrifying thing. If you become careless for even a moment, something or someone weaker than you can take advantage of that and end your life." Dr. Marcus said.
"Have you ever been in a war?" Eric asked curiously.
"During those tumultuous times when the cities hadn't yet been built. That was a time of chaos. We were being driven by the instincts of our cells, to feed and to reproduce. We were like those savages, but even more ruthless, sinister and ravenous! The beasts, too were in such a state. If they met with a human, or another beast, not of the same species, a battle broke out instantly. Even those herbivores attacked on sight. It was like the prey mentality had vanished and every beast was a predator. Lions could be killed by zebras!" Dr. Marcus entered a daze while talking. His mind had taken him back to those times.
