RB Chapter 47 Lucky
A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the trees in the grove. The temperature was high as the sun was dishing out its punishment across the land.
But that was the last thing on the minds of the two boys who were a bit behind Baguma.
They were tense, and waiting for something which was gradually coming out of the grove.
Arcs of electricity were racing around Baguma's body signifying that he was in a tense state.
Finally it walked out! It was all black from its front paws to its head.
Even its eyes were like two black holes swallowing all light. Its fur was a silky oily black.
The trio got the impression that it was simultaneously looking at all of them at once with those black holes.
Standing there in all its glory facing Baguma, it was unfazed.
It was as tall as Baguma when standing on all its four legs. Black spikes ran along its back bone and ended at its spiked tail.
"A human, how rare!" They were shocked to hear sound leak out of the beast's opened mouth.
"So, are you here to challenge me?" It continued. Its voice was calm, almost bordering on emotionless.
"Yes!" Baguma answered simply. The right palm had tightened around the hilt of his sword.
"How can you talk?" Elec, for some reason, managed to have his curiosity overwhelm his fear.
"Its simple. I have eaten a lot of humans, assimilating their genetic code isn't that hard." The way it answered had chills run down the spines if the two boys.
Baguma moved! Electrical arcs covered his right arm as he activated energy channeling and his fastest slash yet!
The wolfish beast was about five meters away but he decided to slash.
'That is outside his reach!' Eric thought as the slash sailed through the air. Of course he couldn't catch it in his vision with the speed that it was travelling at.
The wolf vanished only to appear behind Baguma as the slash missed. The trees at the edge of the grove had a thin black line appear horizontally on their stems. Smoke was even rising from the blackened parts.
The wolf had appeared between Baguma and the two boys but its face was facing Baguma. It didn't consider the two boys as threats to itself.
Its left paw swiped horizontally at Baguma! The speed had surpassed the one it had dodged the slash with.
Baguma too vanished to reappear on its left side and slashed vertically...
Afterimages were the only things the boys saw as Baguma and the wolf rotated around the two boys clashing with each other.

The occasional attacks of the wolf clashed with Baguma's sword eliciting sparks but it didn't allow any of the sword slashes to touch its body. Only the claws got into contact with the sword.
Gashes appeared in the earth and sliced vegetation fell to the ground every time Baguma and the wolf slashed and swiped. Some of it even burned!
The boys were simply paralysed in place as a hairline gash had appeared only millimeters away from Elec. They made sure not to take a step and they even feared breathing as that would allow their chests to puff out! What if a piece of the chest was sliced off in the middle of taking a breath!
'So this is how powerhouses fight!' Eric tried everything he could to follow their movements but to no avail. Of course there was something he could try other than energy channeling but that was risky!
He could speed up the movement of his eyes by directly taking control of the muscles and forcing them to move fast with electricity. It was similar to that battle with those lion cubs. But the consequences would be detrimental in this situation.
'This wolf has fast reflexes! It also has a keen sense of danger! It doesn't want to defend against my clashes.' Baguma was almost cursing at this point! He was currently in the midst of parallel processing. He was attacking, while also speedily channeling energy to places that needed it!
An arm needs energy to increase its speed...check!
A leg needs energy to Dodge an attack...check!
Energy was being consumed at a very high speed!
At this rate he was going to run out of energy.
Energy wasn't infinite, battles had to end at a fast speed or else, the one with energy remaining would kill you at the end of the battle.
A blast of wind caused by a swipe of the wolf's claws grazed Vaguma's left arm causing a bruise to appear. Gushes of wind caused by an opponent's attacks were also something to watch out for!
Baguma's eyes lit up as the wolf pounced another time, he pumped massive energy in his arm and performed multiple slashes, horizontal, vertical and diagonal forming a shield around himself, forcing the wolf to back off.
He was back I'm the same position before the battle, in front of the boys.
He was panting a little, but the beast opposite him was calm as if it hadn't wasted any energy.
Beads of sweat were clinging to his face, electrical sparks were still coursing along the surface of his skin, but steam was also visibly escaping from his pores.

'Baguma is not going to last! What will now determine the fight will be the unique genetic abilities possessed by the wolf. So far it hasn't shown any.' Eric was staring at the seemingly calm wolf. A stream of bright energy was moving around in its body.
The energy had diminished a little from the first time that he saw it.
Its dark eyes were staring directly at Baguma. That was the feeling that he was getting.
'It has a greater mastery of energy channeling than me.' Baguma observed.
He took in a deep breath before his left hand blurred towards his mouth. Something like a capsule had been thrown into his mouth.
"So, those are the energy replenishment capsules of the humans!" The wolf's voice was once again heard more as if it was talking to itself instead of as a question.
It opened its mouth after talking before something fast flew towards Baguma, he hadn't managed to react! It connected to his chest before pulling back towards the wolf without losing speed.
Baguma was still attached to it! It was dragging him towards the wolf's body.
He managed to channel enough energy to see that what had stuck onto him was pink and slimy, a tongue with a suction cup like formation at its tip which it had planted onto his chest.
'You were careless!' Baguma didn't panic but instead grinned as if a weight had been lifted off of his chest.
He was happy that it had just used a genetic ability which was going to seal its fate! That was the world for you! If you had no idea about the genetic abilities of your opponent, that was bad for you!
It had probably thought that the minuscule amount of electricity he was releasing had just been a side effect of his speed.
Baguma channeled so much energy to his skin and released it into his electrocytes. Large arcs of electricity were created as the cells rubbed against each other.
The charge was transferred down the wet tongue into the wolf's body causing it to growl in pain and dislodge its suction cup.
Baguma was still heading towards it and raised his right hand performing a slash which bisected the wolf vertically from its head to its tail!
The two halves fell away from each other exposing blood and guts!
Elec once again tried to empty his stomach.
'Battles also rely on luck!' Eric realised. He was sure Baguma never knew the genetic abilities of the wolf.
Baguma's body, which had been sailing through the air, landed at the back of the place the wolf had been standing on.
He was panting heavily and smoke was rising from the place The tongue had been in contact with his skin. It looked like digestion started at the tongue for the wolf!
His clothes had been destroyed only leaving him with his symor which was a little bit corroding/melting.
"Elec and Eric bypassed the wolf's carcass to head towards Baguma.
Elec tried as much to avert his head from the gruesome sight.
"I was lucky." That was the first sentence that came out of Baguma's mouth.
"I brought you both here so that you can try to learn energy channeling with me. So am going to start teaching you!" Baguma revealed.
"I thought I was about to be killed in the near future, so why do I need to learn it?" Eric was suspicious.
"Mmm! You were about to be killed, but that has changed." Baguma affirmed.
"Why?" Eric pressed.
"Its a long story which can't be told in this place." Baguma said.
"I will tell you once we are safely back in the city. Now let's go! We need to reach that stream before nightfall." Baguma continued.
He led the way with the boys following into the grove.
"Won't the wolves attack us?" Elec asked.
"No, they have a keen sense for danger." Baguma cut through the undergrowth blocking their way with his sword, making a path for his two boys to take.
He was still vigilant. He could sense tiny electrical signals in the air after stimulating his brain to sense any lifeform within a certain range.
The grove was dark because the trees in it had wide leaves. Their width was equal to the length of a human's forearm!
The grove was quiet probably brought on by the wolves which had scared all the other creatures away.
TRIVIA
The tip of Baguma's blade can eject electrons at a fast speed. The electrons aren't lethal in tiny quantities, but with the volume of electricity created by his body, the electrons become so many that they turn into a lethal beam which ionises the air as it passes through it. It is so hot, that it can melt the surface of a substance even if it comes into contact for less than a second!
