RB Chapter 45 Energy Channeling
"So...Baguma, what brings you here?" A puzzled note could be heard in her boisterous voice.
"I am heading for the wilderness. I was hoping to borrow the secret tunnel." He answered in a calm voice.
"Oh! You've never used it, what brought this on?" She asked.
The two boys were wondering what Baguma was talking about.
'We are already in the wilderness. What does he mean?' Eric wondered.
"I have found a breakthrough in our previous conversation." He held out his right hand and something amazing happened!
Electric arcs formed in the air around his palm. The air around his palm shimmered with a blue color which was coating it like a glove.
Eric and Elec widened their eyes!
What was this!? Without taking any ATP shot, something like this was possible!?
'I will most definitely die if he touches me with that!' Eric judged!
"Wow!" Amazement leaked out of Elec'mouth.
"Ah! So you have managed to get a rudimentary mastery of energy channeling!? Interesting! Interesting! Interesting!" Summer nodded her head and clapped her hands excitedly.
"So I bet you want to test it in the wilderness, yes?" She mumbled to herself.
"What is this?" Eric couldn't hold back the water that was his curiosity, so it spilled out with that question.
"This is something only a handful of people can do currently in our city. But I heard that in the other continents, many can already do it!"
"Let me explain it in simple terms..." She was clearly excited. Spittle was flying out of her mouth.
"...imagine, that you could order your cells to transfer energy to the parts you want instead of every cell absorbing it and spreading it evenly around your body...
Imagine that you would order your cells to transfer all the energy they are storing to cells that you want them to...
Imagine that you want your hand to move way faster than it is meant to, I mean so fast that it breaks the sound barrier! That is only possible if you have the genes of animals with speed, but, with energy channeling, anyone can do it!" By the time she finished, she was breathing heavily.
But all that she had just said was causing Eric's heartbeat to accelerate.
'Hoh! I can get stronger without waiting to fill out my genetic slots!' His young looking face was filled with excitement.
"How can I acquire it?" His eyes shifted towards the plasma glove that had formed around Baguma's palm. It was shimmering with a bluish glow and even Eric was wondering how Baguma was going to dissipate all that electrical energy without losing his palm.

"It requires training and a powerful will! If you slack off, you risk the energy being reabsorbed into the cells its supposed to pass through." Summer explained.
"Enough talk! I need access to the tunnel." Baguma interrupted as the electrical energy concentrated on his palm dissipated.
The super heated gases which had been enveloping his palm also naturally cooled down. His palm looked a little charred but that was a minor wound. Cracks started to form in the charred parts giving a glimpse of healthy skin.
"Sure!" Summer walked out of the tent and the trip followed behind with Baguma leading the way.
'So, my father was this strong all along!' Elec had that thought running circles in his mind.
Even with his limited understanding, he knew that that had been plasma coating his father's palm. If such an attack landed, he didn't think even the clan leader of the Mpologoma clan could walk away unscathed.
They exited from the opposite direction of the massive building from the one they came from. They continued along a path in between the coal black trees.
Where the bark was split, a lulittle yellow could be spotted. It was the sulphur.
No other person could be seen in this part of the field and they continued all the way to the end.
A soil wall-or you could say the end of the cavern appeared in their eyes.
Summer placed a palm on one part of the wall, it sunk into itself and a rumbling was heard as the stone wall sunk.
The sinking part was about 5m wide and 10m tall. It was in a rectangular form.
The trio entered the tunnel that had appeared. Summer waved to them before the wall once again rose and sealed them inside.
It wasn't as dark as the boys had expected. Florescent moss was growing along the walls of the wall releasing a soft light.
"After we exit this tunnel, you must stay within 10m of me at all times!" Baguma exhorted with a grave look on his face.
The two boys acknowledged seriously. They could feel something from Baguma. It was like a slumbering beast was waking up with every step he took.
By the time they reached the end of the tunnel, the atmosphere surrounding Baguma had reached the peak! The two boys felt as if their breath was caught in their lungs.
A massive set of doors appeared infront of them. They were glistening silver and they had a single eye like object atop them.

They released a beam of light which scanned them before opening into the sides a little. They left a space of only a person to pass through.
With Baguma at the front, they formed a line with Elec bringing up the rear.
A burst of refreshing air hit them the moment they walked out. It was currently 9:00am. The sun had just started to rise from the far off horizon.
The massive doors behind them closed.
The path inside the tunnel had been sloping which had made the two boys who had come here for the first time to know that they were heading above ground.
The land was flat for as long as their eyes could see.
Waist tall grass was also the other thing to enter their vision. A human could hide in this grass and no one would know unless, he was in the sky.
Glistening dew drops coated the grass and created a stunning view when the rays of the sun hit them.
Eric breathed in deeply. Such clean air was a rarity in the city.
Elec was about to talk when Baguma put a finger on his lips upon turning around.
"In the wilderness, never shout. Always talk in whispers." Baguma whispered.
Eric and Elec nodded. Baguma once again turned to look in front of them.
His eyes were scanning the tall grass for any abnormal signs. Even his ears were twitching a little.
Seeing nothing out of the ordinary, he led the two boys through the tall grass, his direction, the east where the sun was rising from.
Baguma walked at a slow pace which caused as minimal russling of the grass as possible.
Elec and Eric watched everything and imitated Baguma. They also moved at a slow pace.
'How long will we exit this savanna of we walk this slowly?' Eric thought. He was very vigilant. Right now he was bringing up the rear. He had to as he couldn't possibly let his master do such a task.
Baguma was still on the look out for any signs of trouble. He even occasionally paused.
Eric was wondering what was up with the man and decided to activate his all spectrum eyes.
That's when he saw it, something was underground to the right of them.
It was cautiously moving towards them. It was long, making Eric suspect it to be a snake. His all spectrum eyes weren't omnipotent. They couldn't pick out the features of the creatures he saw. They only caught the glow released by the creature when it was carrying out its metabolic processes.
The moment Baguma placed a foot on the ground, it moved a little, like it could sense the vibrations. It was also making sure to coincide its faint tunneling sound with that of the trio placing their feet upon the ground.
4m, 3m, 2m, the distance shrunk with every step the trio took. Only Baguma and Eric appeared to have captured the creature in their senses as Elec was simply looking around restlessly.
He could sense that the atmosphere was somehow changing, but he didn't know what was the cause.
One meter, that one gap was the point where each felt that they were going to strike! Even the creature felt it!
'I should see how he handles it.' Eric knew of his inexperience. This was the wilderness, not the virtual city. A single mistake might cost him his life, so he opted to leave everything to the expert.
Baguma crouched low, pretending to be looking in front, but! All his senses were focused on his right!
A swoosh was heard as something long and white launched towards Baguma.
Elec failed to capture it as he was still an amateur. Of course, that didn't mean that Eric was better. It was the result of his eyes coupled with him paying attention to Baguma's actions.
The thing which had launched resembled a snake but it was white, almost bordering on transparent. Its few organs and blood vessels could almost be observed from outside.
But don't be mistaken because of its fragile look! It was around a meter wide and ten-ish meters long!
Its cavernous mouth was widely opened, aiming to swallow the whole of Baguma!
It made you wonder how something that big could move that softly through the soil!
TRIVIA
Energy channeling;
Its something which can only be achieved through intense training.
It entails transferring the stored energy of cells not in use to those which are in urgent need of the energy. In case of ATP shots, you can transfer all that raw energy towards a designated area without allowing any of the unneeded cells from absorbing it.

Esper: Search for Power
Dan Martin has a good life. He's respected at his job, and enjoys his work. He is close to his family, and they love and support him. With engaging hobbies, relative financial security, and freedom to learn and pursue his interests, Dan is happy. So it's not particularly welcome when he's selected by an inscrutable and seemingly omnipotent System as a test subject. The downsides: All of this is insane and by any rational analysis he's gonna die. The upsides: Super powers, a cure for a physical disability that had limited him, and above all, so very much to learn (for as long as he can avoid dying). I am very much a beginner as an author, and any feedback or suggestions on how to improve would be deeply appreciated. Chapter releases should be daily for the first two weeks and sporadic after that as I use up my buffer. Please consider this work as a rough draft subject to revision and/or retcon. It is not only my first attempt at original story telling, but at world building and RPG style system design. The latter has been very difficult, even drawing on the brilliant work of many RPGs and LitRPGs for inspiration. Thank you to any willing to give a new story and a new writer a try!
