RB Chapter 34 Lesson
"We are cornered. Right now no one will care about the truth. All they care about is vengeance." Lena started calmly.
"First, we need to find a way to rescue my daughter. Those people will tear her apart once they find her. But, as you can see, we are confined to this building. Its even possible that some of our secret tunnels will be discovered. Station people at all the entrances!" She ordered.
"Yes, ma'am!" One of the five, a man with yellowish hair hurriedly stepped out of the office to carry out the order.
"I need ideas! How are we going to save my daughter?" She asked as her eyes bounced from left to right as she stared at the remaining four.
"Queen! Let's try the people who are still outside." One suggested. She was one of the three females among the people standing in a line. Which meant that only one male was left in the room.
"Am pretty sure, some certain old geezer has people spying on them." She answered as an image of the elder appeared.
"I will try to contact Leo. If he is still in the city, then he will save her." She answered before chasing all of them out of her office.
She had seen that no other method would be viable method.
But she was currently hesitant. She had chosen power over that man and she also knew that he cared more for her than the children. To him, children can always be produced, but she was the only one for him.
She had chosen power instead of the man who cared about her the most. It was also mostly because she cared about her children. She knew that the man would choose her over the children in a heartbeat. If they went into the wilderness and something powerful attacked them, he would even sacrifice the children. She had wanted power because she saw it as the only way to protect them.
'But I need his help if I want to save my daughter. He is powerful enough to intimidate them.' She thought.
She ultimately extended her hesitant hand towards her mobile.
"Hello." A gruff voice was heard the moment the call connected.
She almost felt her heart melt. She felt as if a long time had passed since had last heard it.

It made her feel as if the burdens she was carrying were nonexistent.
"I need you to save our Elena." She collected herself and said in a cold voice.
"If am not mistaken, you are still in the city." That came out as a statement because she was sure of it.
"Why should I save her? As long as you are alive, we can have more kids."
"Leo!!! You will lose my love if you don't start caring about the children!" She shouted at him. She had clearly been flustered by his nonchalance.
"What if I die? There will be no one whom you will be able to look at and remember me!" She continued.
"You are right. But still, I will only do it because I don't want you to hate me for the rest of your life. I have already picked up her scent and the one of the vermin who caused all this. I will exterminate him and also take care of the problem in front of the Mpologoma tower." He cut communications once he had finished.
'Heh! You think I will just obediently go to the wilderness? You are mistaken, Leo! I must first teach these betrayers a lesson they will never forget!' A sharp glint appeared in her eyes with that thought.
--------
"Why did you kill us! We will never let you sleep! We will haunt you forever!" Voices were constantly whispering in Elena's ears the moment she closed her eyes. She wanted to really rest. She felt as if her body would give out and die if she didn't. Every cell in her body had entered a weakened state.
As she was fighting to close her eyelids which occassionally peeled back due to the voices, her ears moved.
A certain rhythmic vibration had entered her ears causing her drooping eyelids to draw back. She had entered an alert state!
She slowed down her breathing and even took silent breaths. She squeezed into herself. She focussed her eyes out and her vision passed through the gaps in the stairs to see what was coming from the direction the footsteps were heard.
Her heartbeat increased with every step the person was taking. She had gotten tense. All her weak muscles were trying to tense up, ready to spring! But, she didn't have any energy left in her body and also they appeared yo have been overworked.

Everything was monochromatic in her vision. She had activated night vision. She was pretty sure that her eyes would glow the moment any beam of light, fell on them.
What looked like a long leg was the first to enter her vision. It was supple and tempting. Drool almost leaked out of her mouth! The beast inside her, which had been stimulated was still around.
She forcefully resisted the urge to swallow. After the other leg caught up, she instantly understood that whoever had arrived was wearing a long slitted dress. She couldn't tell the color since everything in her vision was white, black or inbetween.
'What is that woman doing here?' She wondered. She had managed to pick out the woman's unique deadly sweet scent over all the perfume she had put on.
As the face entered into view after she had raised her vision, her suspicions were confirmed!
It was Ivy Musota Butwa! The matriarch of the Musota Butwa clan!
"Hey there, little lioness!" Ivy's vision turned to her causing her to almost have her soul jump out of her skin.
'How did she know?' She wondered in her mind. But she was cautious enough that she didn't leave her hiding place.
'How come all those people with the genetic traits of animals with sensitive noses didn't find me?' A thought passed through her mind but she had to focus, so she ignored it.
"Haaaa...even though I started all this, even I didn't know that someone would use you to escalate matters!" Ivy sighed as she squatted down.
"H-how...?" Elena wanted to ask but found that even her vocal cords were in pain.
"How I found you...," she placed her body palms on her cheeks.
"...the powder you were sprinkled with has a distinct smell! It masks you from the noses of others unfamiliar with your smell, but it makes me more sensitive to it." She answered. Her tongue was flicking in and out of her mouth..
"You have truly had a bad day!"
That statement almost caused tears to fall from Elena's eyes but she held them back. Now was not the time to show weakness, especially to this woman who was her mother's rival in love!
"I want a clean conscious. So l came here to rescue you. We can't allow you falling into the hands of these riffraff, now, do we?" She appeared to be calm. It was like all the events which had happened to Elena were small.
Elena felt something stuck in her throat. She wanted to shout at the woman. To tell her that everything that had happened had weight! But she also knew that that would be pointless, so all she could do was glare at her.
"Don't look at me like that! You started it! You insulted both me and my daughter! If you had just insulted me, I'd let that pass! But you just had to go and insult my daughter!" Ivy lost her temper when she looked into those glaring yellow eyes. It was like they were silently blaming her of everything.
She had even stood up.
"Pathetic plotting weaklings! They took advantage of my prank! Now look at where we are?" She cursed.
"Was...I...meant to...slaughter those people?" Elena had forced herself to ask.
"...oh! You mean the first ones! Of course! That was my punishment to you! I wanted you to learn that everything can crumble in an instant! Fame, power, reputation! All these are useless if you aren't strong yourself!" She lectured.
"Look at your father! The people tremble just by hearing his name! They wouldn't dare to try and attack him! That, my dear! Is! Power!" She had spread her arms wide.
"Why do you think the people revere the ten of us and not you, our descendants? Our strength alone made us legends!" She continued.
"But! What do you have to show for yourself, except for an inflated ego and pride to be related to us! Huh? You should learn your place! If you want to be revered, you have to work hard and attain everything by yourself!"
By the time she had finished, she was breathing heavily.
Elena had been struck in a daze! She had heard everything and she had lacked something to refute it with!

I hate being summoned. _________________________________ updates once a week until I get more time The idea for this story began in two places. One was the ridiculously rapid pace of gaining power in many novels. Both in games and in novels, I enjoy the struggle of the beginning character, why always the rush? The other was the way many monster or non-human MCs always seem to hurry to become human (again). It always felt like a cheap way to grant the character extra powers without the difficulty of writing a non-standard thought process. Thus I wanted to write the slow(ish) progression of a monster character gaining strength and intelligence, while remaining distinctly non-human. There are no stats, xp or systems, no reincarnated soul or completely formed being to start with - unless I want to make fun of those. While the MC 'evolves', the process takes months if not years to proceed step by little step. Sit down with me and imagine, what would it be like if...
