RB Chapter 14 Splintered Family

Elec had an awkward smile plastered on his face.

The adults were not intervening, so it had to be him.

His wishy-washy personality made it so that he never got in between any arguments.

Mustering his courage and his resolve to change, had pushed himself to come to the fore.

"Weakling! You should keep quiet and leave the rest of us with the guts to decide our futures to solve our own problems!"

Elena turned her vision diagonally towards him. Her eyes were glinting dangerously.

Since she was worked up, the psychological pressure of being in her presence caused Elec's legs to start quaking. It was her aura...something in her lion genes...the majesty of a predator king!

He shut his mouth and lowered his head. Even the awkward smile was withdrawn.

Tiny frowns had appeared in Baguma and Lisa's faces upon Elena's rude remarks towards their son, but they didn't chasitise her.

'I knew he wasn't suited to be with my daughter!'

Ivy snorted with dissatisfaction.

"What! Could it be that we can't air out the negative things about you?" Leah was getting worked up. Her nails were starting to dig into the wooden table. Even though it was harder than steel, it was like paper beneath her sharp nails.

"This is a meal! If you want to enjoy my food, then I suggest all of you shut up!" Lisa stood up and reprimanded all of them. She had gotten tired of listening to their drama.

Leah apologised but Elena simply picked her cutlery and proceeded to enjoy her food.

The sound produced when her cutlery hit the plate, showed that she wasn't calm.

She even refused to look at her parents.

The twins had been at loss as to what to do, and had wisely chosen silence.

For Eric, as long as his master wasn't under any form of physical threat, enjoying Lisa's home cooked meals took preference.

-------

It was currently 2:15pm.

The moment Elec entered his room, he collapsed unto his bed.

His right hand covered his eyes horizontally as he let out a deep sigh.

'I chickened out! A simple gaze made me terrified! It was utter humiliation! So much for trying to change myself! That woman has serious issues!'

Such thoughts were swimming around his mind. Eric had followed him inside and was casually seated on his bed.

"Master! It seems every family has its problems! You shouldn't have jumped out like that." Eric was offering advice while also trying to console him.

"Yes, it was me seeking my own destruction! That wasn't the moment to try and engineer my change." Elec agreed.

"That woman is clearly off the rails! I got to stick with Leah!" He sat up as he said.

Eric sighed in his mind.

'You want to change because you want popularity with girls, there is fundamentally no difference between you and Elena.'

---------

"Leah, my daughter! Why did you get involved?" Ivy asked as soon as they entered the car.

"That woman infuriates me!"

"Hoh! But I can see it! You want...you desire to be at the top just like her!"

Ivy was looking into her eyes as she said that.

"You are jealous because she has every thing you want! Isn't it? Jealousy...a very good motivator. You see Leah! There is no point in your childish jealousy! If you were jealous of someone with real power, that would be okay! But being jealous of someone with absolutely zero influence upon the bigger picture...let's say this entire city, is pointless! Her power will vanish the moment she graduates and integrates into society."

She poofed a non existent thing in her left hand while running her fingers through her daughter's hair with the other.

"But she comes from the strongest clan, they might raise her up into a high position even outside the school, increasing her influence!" Leah still mumbled in a soft voice.

"You don't understand that man Leo! That will never happen!" Ivy denied it with a shake of her head.

------

It took sometime to arrive back home for the Mpologoma clan. The car was enveloped in silence.

They lived in the western side of the city.

The building like all the others, had a very prominent clan logo emblazoned on it.

All the ten powerful clans had a logo emblazoned on the building which acted as the clan leader's residence and headquarters.

It is like they wanted to show the normal citizens the difference between them.

Elena raced out of the car the moment it arrived and knocked over any employees in the way to rush towards the elevator.

Luckily no one was inside and she had only to only wait a little before boarding.

Her expression was like a volcano waiting to unleash its fury!

Her eyes hidden beneath her hair were glowing menacingly. It was something she did when she was furious.

She tussled her hair and made some of it cascade down the front of her face. It made her intimidating.

The male lion...her favourite beast. It had everything, someone hunted for it...it got the first pick of any prey the lioness took down. Those were the traits she liked about it.

It was the life she was currently living! But it was about to be taken away by her father.

What! Travel the wilderness! What is there! There are no subjects to rule! Someone to order around!...how can she accept that!

She shrieked and hurled objects across her room.

Her favourite books...knocked over, her figurines...pushed from the shelf onto the floor, some were even broken into pieces.

After venting her rage, she sat on her bed surrounded by the mess in the room.

------

"I agree with Elena." Leo's wife said the moment they were alone.

The two cubs had been given to a trustworthy person, so that they could go out to escape from the gloomy atmosphere at home.

Leo had just plopped down into his chair in the study when his wife dropped that statement.

He raised his eyes towards her face and saw something had changed from when they first met.

Her name was Lena and she wasn't originally from inside the city.

Not all the population managed to enter the city, some of them had formed tribes which occupied the wilderness.

He had been wondering towards the extreme east of the wilderness when he saw her. It had been at the former border of Kenya and Uganda.

A pride of lionesses were surrounding her. She had been like a lion king...in this case a queen to them. She was simply clad in a very short skirt formed out of brown fur and a cloth holding together her breasts...they were the only clothing on her body.

"What do you mean?" He asked as he crossed his palms and placed his head on them. The elbows were placed on the desk in front of him.

He had roused himself out of his reminiscence.

She had the genes of a male lion, something which shouldn't be compatible with her. It was a secret only the two knew. Not even their children knew.

"We need to stay in power! Those people who approached you, we shouldn't trust them!" Her eyes were glowing with something as she looked into his.

"You have changed!" Leo simply said that and leaned back into the chair.

"You would too if you had to manage the lives of hundreds of people!"

"Why didn't you side with Elena at the luncheon?"

"Because that would have been a humiliation to you! I am a mature person. Not the same as I was when you first met me." She answered calmly.

"If am not mistaken, you would fight me if I tried to go along with my decision?" He asked as his eyes narrowed.

"Yes."

The people holding such a conversation were so calm. It was like they were chatting about the weather.

"What if our children die because of you wanting to cling to this power?"

"I will make sure that doesn't happen!"

"I hope so! I won't interfere, so you can do whatever you want!" He stood up and walked out the moment he said that.

Lena held her chest the moment he walked out. She knew that their relationship had ended.

'I love you but...I love being on top more than anything!' That thought once again reaffirmed her resolve.

-----

'Should I go to the wilderness?' Leo felt as if even the wilderness, which he loved couldn't do anything to soothe the pain in his heart.

Some people who merged with the genes of beasts had their emotions altered.

To Leo, his children weren't as important as his wife. Even if they died, it wouldn't be that painful.

But currently he saw no path to saving her.

He knew she was as powerful as him but, those people had prepared extensively.

It had been years in the making. They had ears and eyes everywhere! It wouldn't surprise him if they knew his wife's secret.

He was currently outside the building staring in space. He had lost his drive.

'Should I really go to the wilderness, or should I stay and protect her?' That was dilemma currently plaguing his mind.
