《What would you do if you suddenly fell in love?》Meeting Emily

The child who came with the receptionist was the little girl from before, who was waving to them, but hid when she received the intense look of Sian.
She was no longer wearing the uniform she used to be, now she was wearing a beige one-piece dress with small brown details.
As she was without the little hat, it was possible to recognize her race. It was the same as Ophilia, a Dogkin. The resemblance between them was enormous, the only difference being the hair color that was lighter and slightly wavy, reaching up to her shoulders.
With Sian's line of sight changing out of nowhere, everyone followed.
As she suddenly got stared at by everyone, the little girl became nervous to the point of putting her tail between her legs and hiding behind the receptionist.
"Sorry for the delay, My Lady, this is the child Lord Sian and his wife wanted to see." Said the receptionist, bringing the little girl forward.
"That's what you heard." Charlotte smiled, placing one hand on the shoulder of the clearly anxious Ophilia while making a positive sign with the other.
As Ophilia still remained motionless, Sian put his hand on her back and said, whispering in her ear. "Don't worry, I'm here with you for whatever comes."
Urged by Sian, she staggered to a stop in front of the little girl, who turned on her back and grabbed the receptionist's skirt, looking nervous and afraid.
After gathering all her courage, Ophilia said. "Hi."
But as if she hadn't heard, the little girl kept her face buried in the receptionist's skirt.
'From the way her shoulders are shaking, being ignored by her own daughter must certainly be hurting her.'
Not wanting to let Ophilia suffer any further, Sian came over, crouching down beside her and said excitedly. “Hi, your name is Emily, right? My name is Sian and that beautiful lady here is Ophilia. I know that having to meet two strange people that you’ve never seen before should scare you, but don't worry, we don't want to hurt you.”
Emily looked shyly and in her amber eyes, the fear seemed to take over. Realizing this, Sian tried to calm her down. “We came here to find my old friend, Lady Charlotte. But when we were coming here, we saw you from afar and thought you were so cute and beautiful that we decided to meet you. We even prepare last-minute gifts, I'm sure you'll like it.”

Sian took out a red-haired doll who wore a princess tiara and an elegant green dress from the magic purse and gave it to her, who, though hesitant, still accepted.
"I still have one more present here." He took out a chocolate-covered cookie. "Charlotte brought this cookie and is very good. Do you want to taste it?"
She nodded sheepishly. Without wasting time, Sian took the cookie to her mouth, which took a small bite, which was soon followed by another and another, until she ate the whole cookie.
"Was it tasty?" Sian asked.
She nodded.
"If you hug this beautiful lady here," He pointed to Ophilia, "I'll give you as many cookies as you want."
Emily looked afraid, but after a brief moment looking at Ophilia, she seemed to agree.
Sian made room for Ophilia and nodded at her with a tender smile.
Wasting no time, she knelt and immediately hugged Emily.
Not long after the hug, Ophilia cried, it was probably a cry of happiness. But that made Emily, who was already nervous, almost start crying too.
Feeling that things might end up going wrong, Sian also knelt beside them and stroked Emily's head. “You don't have to be afraid, she won't hurt you. She is just thrilled to see a little girl as cute as you are.”
Seeing that she seemed to have calmed down, Sian took another cookie to her mouth, which happily accepted it.
"Do you know why your doll wears a princess tiara?" He asked, pointing to the doll that was in her hands.
She just shook her head.
Sian smiled and said, "It's because she's a princess, her name is Biona."
"But..." Hesitantly, Emily said, "I never heard her name in class."
Surprised by her answer, Sian looked at Charlotte, who just shrugged. "I cannot leave the future of the nation to children if they are illiterate and without knowledge."
"Well, I'm obliged to agree with you on that." He looked again at Emily and continued. "She is the princess of a kingdom that is far, far away, and that is why you never heard of her in class."

"Re-Really?" She asked doubtfully.
"Yes, I wouldn't lie to a little girl as cute as you." Sian said, lightly squeezing her pink cheek.
By that time, Ophilia had already calmed down a little, but her eyes were red and the tears were still streaming down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry for scaring you, it's just that I'm so happy to finally be able to see you again, that I couldn't hold my happiness." She said awkwardly.
But despite saying that, she still kept hugging Emily.
“See? She's crying with joy at meeting you.” Sian gave her one more cookie. "Are you happy too?”
She nodded.
"Since we are all happy together, I have an idea." Sian gave her another cookie. "Why don't you come live with us and become our daughter? I promise you will always have these cookies and several other types of delicious foods to eat.”
As Emily did not respond, even after a few seconds, Sian said. “We will not live far away, we are going to stay on Solaris. So whenever you want, you can come and visit your little friends here to play.”
Trying to help Sian, Charlotte approached Emily. "You can come whenever you want, you can even continue to attend classes with your friends."
"Are you going to be my daddy and mommy?" Emily asked Sian timidly.
"Yes," He stroked her head as he gave her more cookies, "I promise we will take good care of you."
"Aren't you bad people who are going to sell me?" She asked as she tightened her grip on the doll.
“Of course not, we are good people, you can ask Charlotte.” Sian said.
Emily looked at Charlotte, who answered. "He may seem scary sometimes, but he's a good person."
"Are you really going to be my daddy and mommy?" She asked again as if she wanted to be sure of what she had heard.
"Absolutely!" Sian replied.
"Do you pinkie swear?" She raised her little hand while stretching her pinky.
"I pinky swear." Sian stretched out his pinky and grabbed hers.
"Come on Ophilia, you need to pinky swear too." Sian said.
Finally releasing Emily from the embrace, she also pinky swear.
"Now that we're your daddy and your mommy, we need to celebrate." Sian turned to Charlotte. "Can I have a big dinner here at the orphanage for all the children as a way of celebrating?"
"Of course." Charlotte said.
After throwing some talk away, they said goodbye and prepared to return to the inn. But this time, Emily would go with them and when it was late afternoon, they would return to the orphanage, so Sian would prepare the celebration dinner.
But before going to the inn, they would take a break on the way to stop by the fair and buy some clothes and other things necessary for Emily and Ophilia.
As Ophilia went out with Emily, Charlotte whispered to Sian. "When I look at you two in the face, I feel a certain resemblance. Are you her father?"
"No, but from now on I will be." He replied.
"Are you sure? You two have very similar eyes."
"In a way, hearing that makes me happy, but it's just a coincidence." He shrugged. "As I said before, the first time I saw Ophilia was just over a day ago."
For a moment, Sian felt a sense of déjà vu.
‘Why do I suddenly feel like I’ve heard her name before?’
Even after struggling to remember, all he got was a vague reminder that he may have heard that name before. 'I think it must be just my imagination.'
Sian shrugged and followed Ophilia and Emily.

Voidsong (A NaNoWriMo 2018 winner)
Synopsys: The Empire thought humanity died, and forgot all about it. The Empire is mistaken. A Note From the Author: This story was written as a National Novel Writing Month 2018 entrant. As such, its entire 50,000+ word length was written between November 1, 2018 and November 31, 2018. Overall, I would consider this no more than a polished draft. In that vein, the chapters have no names, only numbers. Special thanks to Chronus on youtube for answering my questions on NATO radio procedures! My Apologies to the Finnish Language, which I have abused in (probably) unforgivable ways to create Twisted Empire names. If anyone is interested, break the names up by commas and toss them into your favorite translation program (I used Google Translate, and tried to avoid umlauts and other accents) for some semi bilingual boni. If I got something wrong (and I know I did… somewhere…) let me know over on reddit and I will see what I can do to fix the mistake. Lyrics, where included, are cited in footnotes.
