Chapter 38 :
Episode 9 : Repay (2)
After that sudden ambush, Raiden went and grabbed the scythe.
He tightened his grip on the weapon before asking. "What would the Captain think of us if we reported back to him?"
"First of all, he won't be mean toward us-..!" Mirai was talking normally until she spotted a small portal appear above Raiden's head.
A hand poked out, touching Raiden's head before it went inside the portal.
"Huh?!" Raiden was a bit startled by the touch which made him drop the scythe.
The falling scythe was caught by the enemy using a portal again.
"You're not going anywhere!" Mirai exclaimed, releasing her strings into the portal.
Her strings seemed to hit something from the other side of the portal before it was shut closed, cutting off her strings entirely.
Mirai pouted. "Kuso! I can't believe it!"
Raiden scratched his head, looking up at the sky. "It's almost night."
"Does that mean we can go now?!" Mirai, who was angry a moment ago, switched to an excited mood.
"Do you want to go back empty-handed?"
Mirai fidgeted with her fingers. "W-Well.. Captain won't be mad at us.."
"Then shall we prepare the ingredients?" Raiden chuckled.
Mirai came closer to Raiden with her cute face being far too close to Raiden's. "That's much better! Good idea, Rai!"
"A-Ah. Well.." Raiden blushed, looking away from Mirai's sparkling face.
"Ikuzo!" Mirai quickly ran.
( ‹Ikuzo›, Japanese word for ‘Let's go’. )
"Mimi! Where are you going?! Captain's whereabouts are that way!"
"Oh..!" Mirai changed her direction to run where Raiden was pointing. She was quite embarrassed.
"Seriously. Haha!"
Raiden dashed toward Mirai before she transformed into her spider form at the right timing. Then she landed on his shoulder perfectly without a scratch.

"Let's do the usual tactic." Raiden suggested.
"If you say so." Mirai observed the surroundings while Raiden was sprinting to Captain's location.
Whenever Mirai spotted a beast, she stabbed her strings inside that beast, immobilizing it not to move. Then wrapped her strings around that beast to trap it alive inside a cocoon.
The more beasts she sees, the bigger the cocoon gets. And that cocoon was now floating on top of Raiden and Mirai like a giant balloon.
———
I was leaning on the wall next to the door with my arms crossed, planning on what to do in the next stages.
"How long do we have to wait?" Alaine grumbled.
"Could you be quiet? It has been only a few minutes since I told you about my comrades coming here."
"But I hate waiting.."
I facepalmed. "Have some patience, will you?"
Knock.. knock..
A knocking on the door was heard..
"Captain! We're here!" A voice came from behind that door.
I knew very well who it was. So I opened the door to let them in. "I'm glad you're all saf-"
I was speechless when I noticed a big cocoon beside Mirai. ‘They only do this when they don't want to come back empty-handed.’
Afterwards, I sighed and told them. "You know you don't have to do that."
Mirai pouted, mumbling. "But I don't want to come back with nothing.."
"By the way Captain, who are those two?" Raiden's eyes were staring at the resting man on the bed and the girl standing behind me.
"I'll let them introduce themselves." I looked over to HwanGi-ssi before looking back at Mirai. "Anyways, Mirai. Could you do me a favor and heal that man over there?"
"What's the problem?"

"He has been withered."
With no further explanation, Mirai swiftly went and checked on HwanGi-ssi's condition.
I watched her do her work before stepping out of the room.
But I stopped when I heard Raiden said. "Sensei, where are you going?"
"Didn't you bring these for me to cook?" I patted the cocoon.
"Oh. That's right!"
"Then watch over Mirai while I go and cook for all of you."
"Arigato, Sensei." Raiden bowed, thanking me with a happy tone of voice.
[Hidden Skill, ‘Simulation’ has activated.]
I suddenly had a gut feeling and looked at Raiden's head.
Raiden seemed to wonder what I was doing. "Sensei?"
"Tell Mirai to check on you as well."
After that, I dragged the cocoon downstairs, leaving Raiden a bit puzzled from my words.
The moment when I arrived downstairs, the people there were shocked by what they were seeing. Due to this, there were a lot of eyes staring at me with curiosity.
On the other hand, I just ignored them and went on to speak with the owner. "Can I borrow your kitchen for a bit?"
[You activated the hidden skill, ‘Skill Imitation’ Lv. 3.]
[What do you want to imitate?]
If I don't want a troublesome conversation, I'll just have to use tricks. ‘Favorability’
[The Hidden Skill, ‘Favorability’ has been selected.]
[Imitation level is Lv. 3.]
[Former level is at level 2.]
[Imitation of ‘Favorability’ Lv. 2 has activated.]
[You have 15 minutes before the imitation ends.]
The owner, affected by the skill, nicely offered me his kitchen. "Of course, young man."
I entered the kitchen and the owner appeared to ponder what I was cooking. Because the owner questioned me. "Young man, what are you about to cook?"
"You'll see when I'm done." I stabbed the cocoon using Lucifer who shapeshifted to a katana.
‘Switch imitation to ‘Fast Leveling’.." I mused.
[Imitation of ‘Fast Leveling’ Lv. 3 has activated.]
Since I knew full well that Mirai didn't kill the beasts inside this cocoon. I had to use this as an advantage to level up.
[You leveled up!]
However, after killing the beasts, I could only level up once. I expected it as such since I was at level 46. Obviously, just a few beasts couldn't just let me level up to Lv. 50 that easily.
‘I'm level 47 now. I just need 3 more levels to get that ‘achievement’.’ I thought, planning out the future’s events.
After that moment, I tore open the cocoon to grab the beasts out, placing them on the counter. Even the owner was surprised to see this as well as the customers.
Knowing that my every move was being watched by these people, annoyed me very much.
Despite this, I kept ignoring them and began cooking up the dishes for my comrades, Alaine and HwanGi-ssi.

Thomas the Brawler
Thomas doesn't remember what his last name was, before it became Bluebrim, a name belonging to another universe. He's also pretty sure he wasn't this stupid before he arrived, but what can you do, when a day that was supposed to begin with an interview to set your life back on track instead begins in a universe that makes no sense, with rules you can't begin to understand? Maybe he should have paid more attention to the avatar creation screen ... Content warnings: All of them. Seriously. Expect lots of blue screens to begin with. Don't expect a power-leveling fantasy, in which the lone hero beats up all the bad guys, and gets a harem of women. There's just a guy who treats character creation like an annoying series of pop-up advertisements, and the story is basically the ramifications of that. The main character has to learn to take the world he's found himself in seriously, and he'll learn the way most of us do, by doing it wrong first. This is, insofar as it is successful, a dark comedy fantasy. Also a bit of horror, particularly but not exclusively body horror. I'm pretty sure I've earned those Content Warning tags, so, uh, yeah. This is practice. Hopefully things improve as I go, and figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I make no guarantees things will ever get better. I've already made mistakes, I'll make more, and I'm happy to notice them each time I make them. You don't improve unless you fail. (On the plus side, it probably won't get much worse.) Feel free to point out anything you think I'm doing wrong; I don't promise to change anything, particularly if it's a matter of taste, but I am looking to improve, and figuring out what I need to improve goes faster if I don't have to try to figure it out myself. I've updated the earlier chapters for formatting, in the hope that it would make everything easier to read on mobile devices. Hopefully things work slightly better now, but please let me know if there are any issues anywhere.

A Merchants Tale
Legends rise. Country’s fall. Empires wage war. But what supports these great powers, allowing them to function as a single organism. Is it the common man, Farmers and Millers forming the backbone of the land? The Soldiers and Guards keeping public order? The Wives and Widows supporting from the side-lines? The Nobles from their seats of power? Or the elusive Sorcerers who wield power untold? And what maggots crawl in this great creature, all trying to get a piece of its slowly decaying flesh. The gangs of the Underworld hidden in the shadows? The Bandits and Deserters hiding at the edges, ready to pounce on any weakness? Witches and Warlocks working their dark art? Or other Nations clawing at their neighbour’s, salivating over the riches they stand to gain from another’s demise. There is one group that belongs to neither group. They thrive on others misfortune and bring with them salvation and destruction in equal measure. They can raise a kingdom up or tear it down screaming and kicking. These are the merchants, the lifeblood of kingdoms, because what is the one thing above all else men crave. Is it Love? Power? Destruction? All these things can be acquired with one simple thing. Wealth. Wealth is the true power behind the world. Wealth can buy army’s, strangle kingdoms, and turn even the most devout man from his faith. Merchants come in many forms, shapes and sized, some gaudy, bleeding the people for all their worth, some tricky, preferring to make contracts and debts to trap men. And some desperate, doing all they can to sell even the most worthless of junk. This is a story of one merchant who goes against all a merchant stands for. He works not for profit but for some unseen goal, a prophesy aeons old. He comes and goes like a ghost, bringing with him hope and victory. All pray for his arrival to spare them from despair. But what about when he doesn’t show? What about the people he doesn’t save? For this man is no angel, no saint sent to save the masses. His goal was never to deliver hope. It merely isn’t time for their destruction yet. For nothing is eternal. And all things must end. But what comes after? Quick disclaimer in response to the review I got, this is my first story and somewhat of an experiment for me, hopefully my writing will get better the more I practice. Thanks for any helpful advice :)

Supreme Formation Immortal Sovereign
Falling under the Heavenly Tribulation, Ascending Celestial Oalur Kang finds that he's back in the past. Watch him pursue the Heavenly Path of Formations and rise to the peak of the Immortal Path! . . . . . . . . . Hello, this is F-Rank! This is my take on writing cultivation stories. Though I'm sure nobody cares, the intent behind this story was focused on creating a more or less logical cultivation system. I read several stories where the mc transmigrated to a cultivation world (not calling names to avoid unnecessary angst) and was able to completely break the cultivation system and the logic of the world because they had the power of science on their side and were able to think more logically than everybody else. Despite the fact that some characters in those stories were older than the scientific method of thinking and even the human civilization as we know it and the whole society was older than our human race. So I decided to write a story where things about cultivation make sense (as far as a magical world full of super magical people can make sense), so here we are. I don't know if I will be able to fulfil this purpose but I hope that the story will end up enjoyable. Can also be considered a prequel for my other story "Wasn’t my new life in a magical world supposed to be easy?" but has very little overlapping content and can be read as a stand alone story. Also available on Scribble Hub.
