《Omen Philosophy (Web Novel)》Chapter 22 - The Silence of the Sinners

Kensei was once a Demonic Master from days long past. Forgotten and lost through time, it is unknown to Dario or the current people of the Omen Sect exactly which era the Bushido Soul Saint belonged to. At the fall of the capital city of the Omen Nation, Kadessa, their history was burned as the floating city was effectively destroyed by the Coalition Army. What is known is that the grave of the Bushido Soul Saint, forever resting under a giant, moonlight blossom tree, was built a long time ago, and it is unknown who made such a resting place. Old and powerful beings have such knowledge regarding the mythological, Bushido Soul Saint.
Having a character of this magnitude as an undead familiar already enables the Omen Sect to compete with neighboring countries, moreover, overcoming the limitation of level 99 was something he did not achieve before passing into the spirit world. It is expected that the illustrious Kensei would become even more powerful. Soa is a planet exponentially bigger than Earth and harbors at least 2 to 5 individuals in each continent on the level of a Grandmaster or Archmage.
So far, the Omen Sect is not in the position for a sustained war. Essentially, a small quality army would get the job done. Given full jurisdiction, Dario would not be receiving the help (participation) of his Master. Though this is not to say that the Omen Sect as of right now is not in the position to take revenge, in fact, they have members who can fulfill that desire and return alive. The question is how long they can sustain a long-term war.
Fortunately, and truthfully speaking, the Omen Sect needed only one Grandmaster. Now that requirement has been fulfilled, preparations were being met at an outstanding rate. It was apparent that the Omen people were anxious to taste the sweetness of revenge. This brings us back to Mount Tian, the HQ for the fighting force of the Omen Sect.
Inside, the design was influenced by Murim China at the peak of its prime. Glorious and refined, statues and artwork carved deep in the mountain depicting angels, demons, dragons, and historical characters. The assembly room is where all the elite forces gather, a place where people on the level of Peak and Transcendence Realm are the ones chosen to enter.
A throne set up in an elevated platform was the seat for the Lord Disciple. “Lord Hades, begin the regular meeting,” said Dario, looking down from his starry throne. The great assembly hall was a finely carved room supported by gilded pillars.
“Lord Veda and I have discussed the status of internal affairs and the plans for the Dragon Campaign. Other than waiting for the next generation of our people to make their debut, the undead from Hollow World will fill in the missing quota through these rankings.”
A window screen blipped in front of Dario’s eyes which detailed the list of the total military force of the Omen Sect.

36 Experts (complete) -Special task force composed of members in the higher-ranked Peak Realm. Although the number may be small for a military force, the individual strength of each expert carries the same weight as a formal battalion. 50 Omens (incomplete) -Officially and unofficially, the Omen Sect has an elite group at the level of Transcendence Realm. It is within this contingent that a Demonic Master emerges from.

So far, many of the important positions in different regiments were filled. It was not necessary to complete them all, however, if there was a complete set of 10 Demonic Masters, then they could immediately proceed to war.
Fortunately, Lord Vicegerent had devised new fighting forces like the Sword Saint elite unit and the Demon Lord Slayers to fulfill the missing positions for the time being. The rest of the groups like the Demonic Masters, 36 Experts, and the 50 Omens had always existed since the beginning of the Omen Sect. Now, with each seat of power comes responsibilities and privileges.
The Demonic Masters are the 1% in the Transcendence Realm, requiring them to be at least level 90 to be considered for the seat. They are the ones who effectively lead the Omen Sect and are commanded by the Lord Vicegerent alone. In addition, the Sword Saint elite unit is moved by the Lord Vicegerent and follow no one but him. In terms of political power, they rank a little below the Demonic Masters because the Sword Saints were intended to be the primary military branch that deploy in enemy territory. The Sword Saints’ sole existence is really to be a brutal mob of apex killers. With the addition of the Bushido Soul Saint, the young disciple has placed Kensei as the leader of the organization and ranked as number 1.
As for the Demon Lord Slayers which has 3 seats is also similar in power to the Sword Saint or Demonic Master. With the obvious title of “Demon Lord Slayer,” all things having to do with the Demon species is the jurisdiction of those three. Finally, the 36 Experts and 50 Omens were the formal military branches since the inception of the Omen Nation. Many members have died in these two branches during the Omen Campaign. As of now, the 36 Experts and Demon Lord Slayers are the only two to have filled the quota without requiring the undead.
“We lack those gifted in the arcane,” said Dario.
“The development of the mages is proceeding smoothly. We can deploy a third of the total magical force at any time,” Calamor responded.
When Dario saw the rankings, there was a concern about the lack of mages and sorcerers occupying any major positions. If you were to compare a Grandmaster and an Archmage, the latter always has the edge. A Grandmaster may be powerful enough to make Aura look like sorcery, but an Archmage can dominate multiple Grandmasters by themselves.
“What’s the status of the Blood and Ebony Tower and Solomon’s Tower?” Dario inquired about both the Towers’ main purpose of cultivating and producing magic casters.
“The Blood and Ebony Tower succeeded in producing a Blood Knight. And, Solomon’s Tower produced an Overlord by sacrificing Elder Liches and Bone Dragons,” Calamor replied in a praiseworthy manner. “Kekeke.” The Blood Elf began to laugh like a maniacal devil. “With the addition of the Overlord, Exion, I can focus much more on the things that I want to do.”
“Indeed, we don’t have to worry about the undead legion if an Overlord is commanding them.” Dario stood and issued the command. “Lord Hades, commence the Dragon Campaign by sending the Day Army to Demon Lord Baal.”
“By your will, young master,” Hades replied while bowing.
Dario nodded and gave orders. “Gerald Killeway, Caesar Ryozen, and Nocturne Mallory, please step forward.”

The three Demon Lord Slayers kneeled at the front, “Dual Sword Saint, Gerald Killeway, go and kill Demon Lord Malgas.”
“I hear and obey!!” Gerald proclaimed with an invigorated reply. He had always looked forward till the day would come when he would face a Demon Lord.
The young disciple smiled softly at the spectacle, expecting nothing less from the man who had fought beside him in Deluc’s Dungeon.
“Cursed Sword Saint, Caesar Ryozen, take the life of Demon Lord Yoshitada.”
Caesar replied in a calm manner befitting the temperament of a wise man. “I hear and obey. We will prove our loyalty to Lord Vicegerent.”
“Virtu Guildmaster, Nocturne Mallory, erase Demon Lord Silphy from this world.”
(Author’s note: “virtu,” Italian, meaning virtue)
Much like his character, Nocturne lowered his head signifying that the order has been received. No words were needed to be said, only action remained.
After the final order was given, a disembodied voice made an announcement. “My people.” Immediately, everyone in the room knew who it was and prostrated.
Imbued with Saihah (Dragon’s Breath) and cosmic power, Lord Vicegerent’s presence can be felt by everyone in the assembly hall. “Tomorrow is the day for war. Take it and savor the sweetness of revenge!” Words with volume and conviction made the audiences’ blood boil, pouring adrenaline throughout their body. In effect, the elites of the Omen Sect released their presence and filed the great assembly hall with crushing energy. “Remember the humiliation! Remember the traitors who we had called our own! The only thing that will be left is the silence of the sinners!!”

There are many countries that the Omen Sect wishes to destroy. From the west of Mount Tian lies the continent of Superbia. Thanks to the 100,000 mountains blocking the passage to the Demonic Lands, the Omen Nation fled to their ancestral homeland to avoid total annihilation. Disgraced from being the top superpower in the world to a debased society made the Omen people regret ever being arrogant. After all, the reason why the Omen Nation crumbled in such a way is because of arrogance. And now, the opportunity for redemption was nigh.
Their first target was the country of Carugonia ruled by Demon Lord Baal, one of the four pillars of the Demon society. Amongst the coalition that banded together against the Omen Nation, the Demon species were among them. With their talent in both combat and the arcane, the Demon species were on par with the martial practitioners of The Omen. However, that was the past. The current people of The Omen learned from their mistakes.
Going through the nation of Carugonia was necessary since it was right next to Mount Tian and the Demonic Lands. Therefore, the decision was easy to make regarding which enemy to destroy. No time was wasted and the time for D-Day began today.
“Lord Hades, open the gates of hell,” Dario expressed. His words weren’t meant to be taken literally as it was a figure of speech for Lord Hades to activate his spell, Gate, the highest tier of teleportation magic. What would come out of the Gate would be the Day Army which could be described as, “hell.”
The Day Army of the Omen Sect is the second-half of the military branch that chiefly operates during the day. They were at Mount Tian, waiting to cross through the teleportation portal into Carugonia.
“By your command, young master,” Hades acquiesced by instantly activating the arcane spell. The space inside the heavenly mountain cracked and a massive dimensional portal appeared.
All of the Day Army had mounts and the majority of them were undead. They wasted no time and Dario lead the charge. To his right was Calamor, and to the left was Azad, those two were Dario’s trusted familiars on the level of Grandmaster and Archmage. Alongside them were the first line of cavalrymen was the elites of the elites, Demonic Masters, Sword Saints, and the Demon Lord Slayers.
Carugonia’s capital city, Obviam Deis, meaning “Kingdom’s Eyes,” was given to Demon Lord Baal from the Coalition Army to forever monitor the remnants of the Omen Nation and wipe them from existence. Ironically, Obviam Deis’ purpose of monitoring the Omen Sect was inconsequential because the Demon species could not see this coming.
When the portal opened and displayed the grand gates protecting Obviam Deis, Dario destroyed such a grand gate with the technique, Palm of Buddha.
Aura Techniques: [Skill - Flurry of Styx] Rank: EX Proficiency: 100% -Release a consecutive series of palm energy condensing into one giant palm of pure destructive power.
Before, it was a technique Dario could not fully practice since he was not a true Heavenly Demon at the time, but now, the difference is staggering. A giant palm disintegrated the gates of various metals and the Omen Sect began the slaughter.
A total of 50,000 undead were deployed as they constantly kept pouring in from the dimensional crack. From low-tier to high-tier, the undead of all kinds wreaked havoc in the capital city. Not all of the Omen Sect’s troops (undead) were deployed for the obvious reason of overkill. The frontline of the cavalry was already on the level of hundred-thousand troops.
“The Omen Sect has returned!!” A pulse wave of sound reached the entire capital. Imbued with Saihah (Dragon’s Breath), Dario shouted as they cleaved through the Demon species like they were nothing.
Suddenly, many figures were seen flying from the sky and landed in front of the Day Army. They were the generals of Demon Lord Baal. A total of four were counted on the level of a Demonic Master.
“You dare sneak into our country!” Yelled the Demon General.
“The Omen Nation should have been destroyed! How can they have so many soldiers on their side?! Another Demon General interjected.
“Enough of this! We will extinguish them from this w-w-” The Demon General didn’t have enough time to say what he wanted as his head could be seen falling from his shoulders.
“You talk too much,” Dario said. “We will take Carugonia from you filthy thieves and return it to its rightful owner!”
After those words were said, a bloodbath and carnage ensued to the point that was never witnessed by the Demon species. Only fear remained in their eyes as they were helpless to fight against the top-tier members of the Omen Sect.

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

Sacrificed in Thirty Seconds
A somewhat unusual reincarnation story, where the main character is thrown into a new world and tries to survive. It is a combination of survival/adventure. I wrote it as a fast-paced, action driven story. If you like slice of life, or extensive descriptions, it is probably not for you. This is my first book here, I will not remove it, but do not expect anything special.
