《This Story Writes Itself [a chain writing game]》> Teleportation is Nasty

"A Necromancer? And you're being chased by the King's men?." Adrian freaked. Countless dreadful scenarios ran through his mind. He began to sweat, thinking about the consequences of his action just now.
"Stop your useless ramblings and run. The spell won't hold for long." The traveler shouted at him, waking him up from his horrors. They were out of the old house, but it would take a while before they could reach the forest for cover.
If he wished to escape this time, he would have to sacrifice a little. But as long as he could bring back the secret he held, any sacrifices would be worth it. Samuel glanced over his shoulder, looking at the old house, which was in ruins now. Smoke wafted out of the windows and he could barely make out the sound of sobbing and another voice that roared in anger.
He knew his spell would not hold any longer. Without anymore hesitation, he pulled a scroll from his sleeve.
"Kid, come here. We need to get far from here or that vicious dog is going to be upon us. If I duel with him here without thinking about the consequences, the whole town will be destroyed. Remember, these scheming bastards care nothing about the lives of the commoners. If you want to save your siblings, then we need to get away from here. He is definitely going to come after us." He spoke hurriedly, while his hands weaved countless runes on the scroll he held.
A glow appeared on the parchment, outlining the countless symbols that were arranged in a strange pattern on it. Adrian could recognize this was an extremely profound implementation of the magik hieroglyphs. But when he heard what the old fool had to say, he erupted in anger.
"Dammit you old fool, it's all your fault this happened. You brought the King's men at our doors and now turned me into a convict. I should just stop you here and hand you over to that man." He brought out a wand and pointed it at Samuel.
"That won't do you any good boy. That conceited dog is out for blood now. If you went to him now, you would only be walking to a cruel death. Trust me for just once more."

"If you had been honest from the beginning, it wouldn't have come to this at all. We would have never allowed a Necromancer to take refuge at our place." He yelled out. He felt scared, frightened of all that was occurring. But he was even more concerned and worried about his siblings who were still in the house.
"Adrian, I do not ask of you to run away with me and live like a convict. I am trying to save your life right now. We just need to bring that fool away from his group and I can handle the rest. Once I deal with him, I will return with you to take care of the rest of the dregs and you can go back to your old life. But if we do not move out now, I will be forced to face him here and the whole town will pay the price." By now the scroll was floating in air, shining brightly with yellow light that spewed out of it.
The symbols that were arranged came to life and sprang out of the scroll, quickly arranging themselves in a magic circle in midair. A powerful suction appeared from the portal that had appeared in front of them. Adrian gasped in surprise as he finally recognized what this scroll was.
It was a legendary teleportation scroll. This was real teleportation he was talking about, unlike the instantaneous movement that most people believed to be teleportation. Entering the portal would move them to a totally different location at random.
Right then the ground trembled. From the direction of the old house, a large column of flames arose. The Herald was free and would arrive here in an instant.
The two of them had moved fast and left the farm behind them, arriving at a stream. But the distance was negligible for an Archmage. The Herald was not going to underestimate them again. The secret that Samuel carried was so important, the Order Of Time would not mind massacring a small town to make sure they got it.
Aware that he could not dally any longer, he grabbed the kid by his shoulder and rushed into the portal that he had activated. The Legendary teleportation scroll was a one-time artifact. He was supposed to use it when crossing the border, but this situation had forced him to make use of it in advance. Now he would have to find other ways to secure his passage across the border.

As the two of them fell into the portal, Adrian could feel himself suffocation. He felt as though the air was pulled out of him and he was shoved into a narrow tube. His whole body ached in terrible pain, as if he was diced into small pieces and then passed through the tube.
And then he was falling through sky, Samuel right above him. He noticed they were not high above and there were trees below. Slamming into the greenery, they both fell to the ground. Adrian was aching all over. The exertion from teleportation was anything but comfortable. The only solace was the soft ground below him, littered by leaves and grasses. He relaxed as he laid there.
"Get up now. We need to keep moving. The Herald will be able to trace our general location from the traces that were left at the site of portal. We are right now in Southern regions and a day away from the border. I need to cross the border before he finds us. Once we are out of their territory, it will be lot more easier to travel." The old fellow groaned. He did not look as bad as Adrian, but no one gets used to the effects of teleportation. It was a nasty feeling.
"What do you mean cross the borders? You said we were going to fight the Herald and I could return home once you dealt with them all." Adrian cried in exasperation.
"Hah, kid you actually believed the words of a Necromancer. I would only ever fight a battle at a graveyard site and even if I could lure that dog towards one, there is no need for me to do so. I got away from him and now I just need to get out of this country. You can follow me back. Once I have completed my mission, I will help you save your siblings and find you another place to live."
Adrian was stunned. He was right. How could he believe the words of an evil necromancer. Deceit and lies were their daily bread. Their tales of evil could build a huge tome. He had landed himself into the hands of such a character. His own actions had doomed himself and the fate of his siblings was unknown. A grave feeling of despair overcame him and he could only remain rooted on his spot.
Samuel sighed as he looked at his reaction. He had to act the villain here. If he wanted to cross the border using a disguise, he would need the cooperation of this kid. Even though he was a Necromancer, he was a member of the Tower of White. They were unlike the Necromancers from Tower of Black, who only knew to slaughter and raise monsters. But his mission held priority and he had to involve an innocent this time.
He raised his hand to pull the kid along when a fluctuation arose from nearby. His eyes constricted as he realized danger was approaching. How could he be so unlucky. The Herald had teleported near them. Realising the situation, he made up his mind and shoved a jade ornament into Adrian's hand. Then he waved his finger as countless tadpole like symbols appeared out of thin air and drilled into Adrian's head. Once he was done he pushed the kid away and activated another spell.
"Adrian, you need to get out of here quick. I'll help you buy some time, so get out of here without alerting the Herald. You need to find your way to the Tower of White. Pass that jade to the Tower Master and no one else. I promise that I'll meet you again if I can escape here, but you need to make sure to get away. This cannot fall into the hands of Order of Time. The fate of a million innocent lies with you. Do not worry about your siblings as they will be fine, I left a charm back at your home that should buy them enough time to escape. Now move quickly, the invisibility spell I used on you won't last longer than five minutes." A voice resounded in Adrian's head as he looked up. He turned his head but Samuel was not looking at him. He faced the dense outgrowth of trees, aware of the approaching hunter. A shadow walked out and laughed at Samuel.
