《My Batman System》Chapter 11 - Vampire Hunter

Jason noticed that something was off pretty early in the morning. The number of enemies was pretty small… the others noticed that as well, and Mary had bad memories about that, so she decided that they should work with caution. Unfortunately, their instincts were right, and something happened at noon. An army of T-rexes appeared, and they began to run toward the walls. Their numbers easily reached the five hundred mark, so everyone around couldn't help but flinch.
"Is this kind of thing common?" Jason asked.
"... They appear now and then out of nowhere, but it is the first time since we built the walls that I see such a large number of them," Mary replied.
"So, there isn't a hunting spot nearby that we can find them?" Jason asked. "I guess that hypothesis about spatial fissures bringing them to this world is starting to make a lot of sense."
Jason had no idea how the fissures could appear without alerting the people nearby. The fissures that appeared six months ago almost made the entire world fall apart, after all.
"In any case, we can't fight them up close. We will have to fight on the walls, so we'll be counting on you," Mary said, and then she aligned many arrows in front of her.
The other awakened, and the guards of the walls that could use long-ranged attacks readied themselves while the others went to warn the people in the city. Fortunately, the three lords were around, so everyone was counting on them to prevent the destruction of the walls. Those had been built using magic, but they couldn't stop an army of that size for too long.
Although that would be suspicious, Jason had no time to worry about small stuff like people wondering how he got so strong. So, he made his magic reach the same level as his other parameters. That also increased his mana, so he will be able to use Fireball more than a few times.

It didn't take long for the monsters to enter his range, but before he could attack, Jason heard an arrow flying at insane speeds and then piercing the eye of one of the T-rexes. The arrow pierced all the way through the monster's brain, so the beast died. Mary had to charge that arrow for ten seconds, but that power certainly was impressive…
Jason joined the fray by using Fireball, and when his spell hit the face of one of the monsters, a lot of flesh and blood flew in the area, and the creature moved from one side to the other while dizzy. Their resilience was certainly something since Jason thought that he could kill them with a single Shot. Fortunately, the second did the trick.
Jason fired the spell that probably could turn upside down an entire vehicle many times in a row and killed a few monsters. Still, eventually, a group reached the twenty meters tall walls and made them tremble with a single headbutt. Thanks to those attacks, Mary had a hard time preparing her arrows.
Fortunately, the guards on the walls had a decent amount of power, and while firing small-scale spells from their hands like acid spheres and Ice Arrows, the monsters began to fall relatively fast. Unfortunately, while that wave was being killed, they soon saw another wave of enemies coming from the distance while rising a dust curtain.
"Is this normal?" Jason asked.
"How can you ask something while looking so composed… Of course, it isn't normal!" Mary replied. "Anyway, those three should have been warned by now, so we have to hold out ground in one way or the other."

Jason had used half of his mana and killed around twenty enemies. Since he didn't suffer any damage, he couldn't feel the danger properly, but when he saw the cracks in the walls, he realized that he couldn't let a single monster inside it. They would kill too many people if that were to happen.
He still has some funds to improve his magic and gain extra mana. Even increasing his Spirit would help, but Jason began to think that they would need a distraction on the other side of the wall to make the monsters stop attacking the place.
Just when Jason was about to make his choice, he suddenly felt something rubbing quite fast and jumping over the wall and reaching the area of the monsters. Jason couldn't help but frown since he saw a guy with short black hair wearing clothes that made him look like he had come from the beach. What was even more bizarre was the fact that he was carrying a katana in his hands.
That guy landed nearby a T-rex, and even without the monster, he swung his sword and cut off the monster's head. It was like a three meters radius, and he did that so easily… blood began to gush from the wound, and then that guy let it fall on him; apparently, he even drank some. Jason had heard rumors about that, but to think that they were real… he was a vampire hunter. He had the powers of Eric Brooks, the hybrid half human and half vampire hunter, also known as the blade.
"HUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH."
Many dinosaurs roared in a way that made the people around feel like their entire beings were vibrating. Still, the vampire hunter only showed a bored expression.
"You guys are so noisy… Just shut up. You are only food in front of me," The vampire hunter said.
The monsters charged toward him, but once again, the vampire hunter just swung his sword around and cut the two pieces. The more blood he absorbed, the stronger he got. It reached the point that his swings could cut down two T-rexes at the same time. The strength of that guy was almost unrivaled…

Points of Light - An Oral History of the Collapse
Humanity endures. The phrase is not only an informal slogan of the reformed United Nations, but a rallying cry the world over. Even in the face of extermination, we struggled, we fought, and we endured. But just how close did we actually come? In our darkest hour, how many steps separated our species from oblivion? And are we even safe now? Were the mistakes made by earlier generations really so obvious? Or are they only so blatent when we look back with the advantage of hindsight? If so, what horrors might be staring us in the face even now that no one has the foresight to prevent? Drawn from thousands of interviews, as well as uncorrupted contemporary recordings and source documentation dating back to the early 2000s; Points of Light is a definative look at the last half century of upheaval, prosperity and carnage. It tells the tale of what happened, how it happened, who was responsible and most importantly, what we might be able to do to prevent it from happening again. This is a rewrite of a previously started fiction under a pen-name. Chapters will be updated every two days at 6:00 EST.

A Cleric's Life for me.
This is a casually written story loosely based on TTRPG games like DnD and Pathfinder. The attempt of the story is to have a slow growth in power and comical set of characters who eventually grow close and set off for more serious adventures. There will be plenty of familiars and funny tales that don't involve combat. The intention is not to be a goody-two-shoes cleric story where nothing bad happens. The intention for this story was a slow paced grungy story where everything seemed great at first and things just kept getting worse. I learned how shitty of a story that is to write and honestly I am just not good enough to get the idea down. I plan on revisiting it later.
