《The Calamity of a Dungeon Crawl》Quest Machines

“That sucked!” Umi shouted out, we had managed to scale the mountain and was sitting against the towns wall looking over the steep mountain
“Really? I though it was fun” Vnaa said smiling
“Thats because Master Udon let you piggy back on him the whole way” That was true, Vnaa didn’t look strong enough to handle the high winds, so I strapped her to my back and carried her up the whole way, I even made her unlock her Low Cold Resistance Skill.
“We’re here, so enough complaining, you sound like whining children”
“So mean Sir Udon”
“That was uncalled for Master Udon”
“We made it up without anyone getting hurt and our low cold resistance mastery went up 2 points”
“Should we look for an inn?” Miko asked, we turned around to look at the town, it was easily the smallest town so far.
“What’s this floors specialty shop?” I asked Miko, she was the one holding the map.
“Umm, it says its the Dragon Blade shop, its also home to a lot of Snow Dragon-Kin, they are apart of the assassin Guild, they work well in the snow undetected” The Assassin Guild controlled this floor then, better keep my guard up, that ice dagger hero Kori might be around somewhere.
“We’ll look for an inn then I’m going to take Vnaa to find her a weapon, do you want a dragon blade Vnaa?” I ruffled her hair, she needed some sort of weapon, even if I didn’t want her to fight, worst case scenario she at least had a weapon to protect herself.
“Sure” Vnaa smiled back at me, so precious
“Sir Udon smiled!”
“Yes, Master Udon smiled!” Umi and Miko shouted out, that was starting to annoy me.
“Lets go” We headed into the town and to the closest inn, there was only one on the floor and it was on the other side of the town.
“We could have got a room with two beds Master Udon, and saved a bronze bear coin” We made it to the inn and payed for a three bed bedroom, Miko complained again about saying it was too much, it only cost us 3 Bronze Bear Coins.
“I would have gladly slept in the same bed as you Sir Udon” Huh?
“Why would you get to sleep in Master Udon’s bed!” What?
“I want to sleep in Papa Udon’s bed” What is going on? I watched the girls bicker among themselves, this is why I originally wanted to get my own room and they could share their own, I need another guy in my party, why did both of my familiars turn out to be girls?
“Enough! You two are fighting more than usual, do you not like each other” I spoke directly at Miko and Umi.
“Huh? Why would you say that? I like Rival Miko”
“Yes, I like Umi as well” Huh?
“Then why do you fight so much” I couldn’t understand these two at all
“None of your business”
“If you can’t figure it out then that’s your problem” What? It was just annoying me, I didn’t really care.
“Whatever, just cut back on it, Vnaa you sleep in Miko or Umi’s bed, I’m having the bed to myself”
“Sleep in mine Vnaa”
“But she’s so warm, sleep in my bed Vnaa” Umi and Miko were at it again, now fighting over what bed Vnaa would sleep in
“Uhh, I’m going to sleep in big Sister Miko’s bed” Vnaa put her index finger to her mouth trying to decide before she chose Miko, that was out of character for her, she was normally a shy, closed of girl.

“Miko, why does it say floor seven is a safe floor?” I wasn’t going to listen to another argument so I quickly changed the subject.
“You know about safe floors right? Like the first floor, it’s a safety point where no monsters are born, and cannot come down to or up to. Humans have colonised these floors quiet well, but Ancient Floor Guardians also monitor these floors so humans don’t destroy them, the floor up is a Hot Spring Town I believe, it’ll help recover players quickly” A hot spring town huh? I avoided hot springs in Japan, I didn’t want to be bullied more due to my weight.
“Interesting, Vnaa you ready to head out, you two stay here and guard our stuff”
“What?”
“Why? You always go alone with Vnaa, if you’re plan is to make us jealous your doing a good job of that” Miko and Umi puffed their cheeks up and scrunched their noses at me, heh, they are getting quite good at that, they are starting to look really cute. No, don’t go there, remember that Miko might have told Kori where I was.
“It’s because Vnaa doesn’t complain like you two, now just stay here and make sure no one steals out stuff, go grab lunch or something” I headed out the room with Vnaa and into the town, Miko and Umi weren’t very pleased with me, Umi even stuck her tongue out me like a child when I left.
“The store should be just up here Vnaa, are you excited” We walked the cobblestone streets, snow was piled up on the sides, it looks like clearing the snow off the street is a daily activity here.
“Yep, I’m going to get a green one” Vnaa was still a kid, as long as it was her favourite colour she didn’t care what it was
“Hey Papa Udon, there are a lot of dragon people here” The town was full of White Dragon-Kin, some let their wings out, others their tails, they all had dragon horns on their head and some even had scales on their arms, but their main body was of a humans appearance.
“Sure is, I’ve never seen any before, come to think of it, there are quest boards on the side of the path, what is that next to them?” I walked over to one of the many quest boards lining the streets, next to it was a machine, it looked like an ATM Machine, is this a bank or something?
“I don’t know what that is” Vnaa told me, she didn’t know either then, I’ll have to ask Miko.
“‘Dragon’s Blade’ here it is, hello?” Vnaa and I walked into the shop, its exterior design was a white dragons foot with light blue scales, it looked pretty cool to be honest.
“Hello, welcome to Dragon’s Blade, the specialty shop of the sixth floor” That sounded rehearsed, did he have to say that every time someone walked in.
“We are just after a blade for this one here” I put my hand on Vnaa’s shoulder, she was staring at the Dragon-Kin, he looked like a normal everyday human boy except for the snow white skin with light blue scales on his arms and the two Icicle looking horns coming from his forehead.
“Hmm, you’ll want a small blade, have a look over there, if that’s not what you’re looking for we do have some larger blades over here, but it all depends on what the little one can handle” He pointed to the left wall of the shop that held small blades with encrypted blue writing on them.

“What’s this language?” It had strange characters, shouldn’t my Ice Talk translate that for me, or was it only helpful in speech?
“Thats Dragonair Language, I’m surprised you can’t read it, you are speaking Dragonair right now” The Dragon-Kin explained to me, so it did just work for speech only
“I have trouble reading the language” It wasn’t unheard of back on earth, people being able to speak a language but had trouble reading it.
“Allow me to help, the top row blades are encrypted with attack boosts, then below that is defence, then speed, then MP boost and lastly Stamina and Focus boosts” Hmm, Vnaa wanted a green one but I could easily change the colour with my skills, I don’t know if a sword or dagger would suit Vnaa though.
“I like this one” Vnaa pulled a blade off the wall, it was fairly long, almost half the size of her
“That one will help you with Stamina and Focus” That suited Vnaa, those were her weakest attributes.
“Can you make this green Papa Udon” Vnaa held the blade up to me, I could probably cut this into three blades a make a sort of claw gauntlet for her.
“How much?”
“The blade alone is 1 Silver Shark Coin but if you would like us to make a sword or spear or dagger out of it, it will cost 3 Silver Shark Coins”
“I’ll just take the blade then”
“Certainly, 1 Silver Shark Coin thanks” I handed over the Silver Shark Coin to the Dragon Kin and left the shop, Vnaa was humming as she walked down the street, seeing her happy brought me the little joy I feel.
“Oh, Master Udon!” I heard a familiar voice shout out to me, it was Miko, she was with Umi walking the streets
“What are you two doing here? I thought I said watch the bags?”
“We are Sir Udon, look” They had slung the bags on there shoulders
“That’s not exactly what I meant” At least they seem to be getting along,
“We got bored so we wanted to explore” Umi told me
“Fine, as long as you two are here can you explain to me what those things are” I pointed to the quest boards and the ATM looking machines next to them.
“It’s a machine that you accept the quest from and once you complete it, you put the required materials in it and then your Guild Gem under the scanner and it rewards you with the quest completion, not many floors have them but I heard they are becoming more popular that guilds are getting them built specifically for their own quests and players.” It was similar to an ATM I guess
“Should we look at some quests then?” I did want to unlock some skills my gem had
“Sure, where did you want to start” Miko asked, the streets were lined with quest boards, it would be smart to look around
“Umi you take Vnaa to check the boards on that side, Miko and I will check on this side” Miko was the one that knew the most about the dungeon, she could answer any questions I had
“Sure, lets go Vnaa” Huh? Umi didn’t complain? Thats odd.
We spent probably an hour checking the quest boards, they were all high levelled quests that involved killing high level monsters.
“Over here Master Udon” Miko called me over
“It’s a quest to kill 3 Nykur, they are demonic Ice horses” I had heard of Nykur in fairytales back on earth.
“Seems easy enough and not to far, lets accept it”
“We just need to bring it to a machine, once we insert it and scan you Guild Gem it will accept the quest for you” We called Vnaa and Umi over and headed to a Quest Machine.
Quest Accepted
Nykur Quest:
Nykur have been terrorising the town watch guards and destroying the town walls. The Town has sent a request to exterminate the Nykur pack and use their ears for a warding accessory for the Towns Wall.
Objective-Kill 3 Nykur and return their ears, 6 ears in total.
Location-The bad side of the mountain, on the peek.
Time Period-3 days
Reward-3 Silver Shark Coins, 100 Experience Points per party member and 5 Guild Points per party member
“All done, we’ll check out the area and then get some dinner, we’ll go and finish the quest tomorrow” I explained to the girls, it was getting late, I wasn’t going to hunt monsters at night, that’s just stupid
“Sounds good Sir Udon” The girls nodded in unison. We headed to the area the quest said, the bad side of the mountain was just on the other side of town, the stairs to the upper floor was in the middle of the town so not many players adventured to this side of the mountain, causing the mounters to grow stronger.
“Found you”
“Huh?” I turned around to see a bunch of merfolk standing there
“You’re little trick you pulled, more than half of our men died” Little trick? Oh, they must be talking about that fake Ice Chimera’s head, wait, half of their men perish? Did they go to the Ice Chimera’s cave
“It’s not my fault you aren’t strong enough to sense illusion magic” I mocked the overgrown squids
“We’ll make you pay!” The group of merfolk charged at us, yep, not doing this.
“Run!” I screamed out to my group, I wasn’t going to take them on, they had at least 10 in their group.
“No, my dagger!” Miko dropped her dagger while she was running, damn it!
“I’ll get it” Umi turned around and knelt down to pick it up
“Take this”
*Bang
One of the merfolk man kick Umi hard sending her to fall over the town wall
“Umi!” Miko shouted out
“Ha! What a puny dagger” The merfolk man picked up Miko’s dagger and tossed it over the mountain side
“The hell!” I shouted out, I unsheathed my sword and prepared to fight
“Whats going on over there!” The towns guards heard the commotion and started coming our way
“We were told not to cause any trouble for anyone but these scum, lets get going” The merfolk man that kicked Umi and tossed Miko’s dagger over the mountain side called for his men to run away
“Get back here you cowards!” I shouted out watching them run into an ally, damn it!
“Master Udon, Umi is hurt” Miko jumped the small wall and tended to Umi, the kick must have bruised or maybe broken some of her ribs, pieces of shit, hurting Umi like that.
“What about your dagger?” I jumped the wall and applied the hemp bandages soaked in Chamomile Flower Medicine I had made earlier in the room
Basic First Aid Mastery-3/10
“I’ll go get it, its to dangerous if we all go” Miko told me, she looked scared herself
“Is that better Umi?” I asked, the pain must have eased up, she stopped clenching her ribs.
“Yep, thank you Sir Udon” Umi smiled at me, Miko looked down at her, you could easily see the guilt she felt, if she didn’t drop her dagger Umi never would have been kicked.
“We’ll get the dagger together, it’ll be quicker don’t worry” I helped Umi up and nodded to Miko
“But Master Udon”
“No buts, you’re apart of this team, we need to help each other” I still needed Miko to move up the floors
“Ok, thank you” Miko nodded at me, we made our way down the bad side of the mountain, it wasn’t as steep as the other side and there was snow gum trees scattered around, but you would still get hurt if you lost your footing.
