“Good Morning Players and Non-Players, in todays News, a small village on the 53rd Floor has been pillaged and destroyed, countless bodies of men were scattered around the streets, while the woman and children have all gone missing. We woke up and grabbed our clean clothes which were in front of our room, mine still had some blood stains on them though, we headed out of town and to the forest on the other side, on our way out of the inn the Elf receptionist handed Miko a small bowl of what I’m pretty sure was fruit, it was shaped like a blooming blue flower but had an onion shaped bulb which was purple.

“If you’re heading out you’ll need some energy to fight those monsters”

The elf receptionist told Miko, she ignored me though, did I do something wrong? Had she seen my Gem?

“Oh, these are Uccoli Fruit, thank you”

Miko accepted the fruit with a smile and walked back up to me. We made our way through the town, it was still fairly early so not many people were out and about, and the stores were just starting to set up for the day. The perfect time to get out of town before everyone comes out, Miko was feeding Vnaa some of the Uccoli fruit, she was lying on my shoulders like a scarf.

“Do you know how strong the monsters are on this side?”

I looked around the forest of Redwood trees, I could hear birds chirping and the branches rustling in the light breeze.

“If we go by the map, there are Deer-Bear, Yellow Horned-Back Wolves, Giant Toads and Pale Goblins. They seem to have a level average of 14 A”

They were weaker than that Giant Caterpillar we faced? It would be fairly stupid of me to just assume that, maybe the sizes and attributes were different and made them harder to kill?

“I don’t want to face any of those Pale Goblins and the Giant Toads could be poisonous, we should try and find one of those Deer-Bear”

I thought about what monster materials I wanted to create another familia, and besides, I had read a Manga about a high level warrior that slayed, well, lets go with perverted goblins, it really messed me up in middle school that manga and for the Giant Toads I didn’t want to be eaten like another manga I read about a perverted adventurer with a useless water goddess.

“Sounds good, we should level Vnaa up a little bit too before we head up to the fourth floor.”

Miko nodded her head as she grabbed Vnaa off of my neck.

“What party numbers do we need for the rest of the floors again?”

It had been a while and I had lost count of what floor required what number.

“We need 3 for the fourth floor, 4 for the sixth floor and 5 for the eleventh floor which is where the first Floor Boss is, once we past that floor even if party members leave you will still be able to move up floors.”

Two more floors before I need to create another familia, that should be plenty of time to organise some monster materials and boost my MP back up, it was currently on 10/57, Miko just said I could remove all my party members once I past the eleventh floor, thats the plan then, I didn’t need anyone to pretend to help me, its safer to go by myself.

“I remember Deer-Bears could be found in open areas of a forest and are solitary monsters.”

Miko looked around the forest and pointed the right of her, guess thats the way.

“You stay behind me a little with Vnaa, I’ll go ahead and check it out”

We made our way through the tall Redwood Forest and saw a small opening. Lying in the sun was a large furry brown bear, it had thick antlers and hooves.

“Master Udon, I can unlock my stealth sprint skill which will increase my speed, we would defeat it before it wakes up”

Miko had a good point, but wasn’t that skill worth 25 SP, I might need her to unlock another skill thats more useful then stealth sprint.

“Hold off on that, we’ll find another way”

I looked around the bear and saw a tree perched over the back of it, if I climbed up that and thrusted my weapon down on its head, it might work.

“Miko, you stay here with Vnaa, I’m going to climb up that tree and sink my sword into its neck”

My Short Bronze Sword mastery had hit level 2 so it had a little more power behind it.

“Please be careful Master Udon”

“Garrhh”

Miko and Vnaa looked at me worried, this feels weird, are they genuinely worried about me? No, it can’t be, I better keep a look out to see if Miko does anything, and Vnaa is just scared of what might happen to her if I die. I walked through the forest and climbed up the tree that was perching over the Deer-Bear.

“So far so good”

I whispered to myself as I prepared myself to launch at the monster.

*Crack

“Huh?”

I looked over to the large cracking sound, was that Miko!? I turned to Miko and she was looking across the other side of the Deer-Bear in fear, I turned to what she was looking at and it was a horde of Pale Green Goblins, damn it! Theres about 10 of these monsters, they either had short wooden spears with metal heads or spiked wooden clubs, they wore a leather chest plate and a leather loin cloth.

“Grrrr”

The Deer-Bear woke up and growled at the Place Goblins, they hadn’t spotted me or the girls, I waved my hands for them to take cover, Miko saw and hid behind a thick Redwood Tree.

“Tarrr Tarrr”

The Pale Goblins shouted out some weird sound, I guess thats their language, they charged at the Deer-Bear, some launching their spears into the other monster while others slammed their spiked clubs into its legs. The Deer-Bear stood up on its back legs and swiped at the Pale Goblins, but as he stood up he hit the tree I was holding onto and I fell out with a hard thud.

“Tarr?”

One of the Pale Goblins noticed me and gave a wicked smile and made its way over to me. The Deer-Bear had managed to kill 5 of the Pale Goblins already while the other 4 were keeping their distant.

“Come on!”

I shouted as I regained my feet and unsheathed my sword, the Pale Goblin just smirked and waved its spiked club at me, I managed to dodge and sliced its right arm. The Pale Goblin stepped back in pain, that smirk turned into rage and it charged for me now, it must not be a very intelligent monster if it’s just charing in without thinking.

“Dumb-ass”

I side stepped to the right and tripped the dumb monster in the process.

“Take this”

I thrusted my sword deep into the Pale Goblin’s spine and it let our a satisfying scream.

I let my guard down and looked at the new skills Vnaa had unlocked

“Master Udon!”

Miko ran out behind the tree and shouted my name pointing behind me

“Huh?”

I looked at her and in an instant I was smacked against the tree I was perched on.

“Arrrr, w-what?”

I felt all my ribs break and at least an arm, I was lying flat on my stomach and didn’t know what had happened.

“Master Udon! Get up!”

Miko was shouting as loud as I’ve ever heard her, something’s wrong, I felt a powerful presence above me. I managed to flip myself over and saw the Deer-Bear looking down at me, green blood dripping out of it’s mouth and small chunks of the Pale Goblins caught in between its hooves and teeth.

“M-my sword”

I said faintly, I felt my right eye swell over as I tried to find my sword, I dropped it when I got whacked into the tree, it was now behind the Deer-Bear. Damn it! I’m going to die here! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!!!

“Master Udon!”

Miko started running towards me, she put Vnaa down next to the tree she was hiding behind. The Deer-Bear bit down hard onto my legs.

“Arrrr!”

I let out a scream of pain, I felt my bones crush in the monsters mouth. The monster started shaking me side to side like a shark trying to rip its prey into little pieces.

“Let him go!”

Miko managed to stab the Deer-Bear in its back leg but it didn’t do much damage, Miko got a kick in the process sending her back next to Vnaa. The Deer-Bear did throw me when it got stabbed and I was lying as beaten and bloody as I’ve ever been, I was going to die here, no doubt about it. I saw the outline of the Deer-Bear make its way back over to me, its jaws opened wide, its teeth were as sharp and kitchen knives, it was going to bite me in half.

“Hear my words dungeon, I ask to be surrounded, filled and illuminated with the dungeons flowing energy, hear my plea ‘The Power of earth’ Pit Fall”

“What”

I swear I heard an earth spell being incanted, the Deer-Bear fell into a deep hole in the ground and disappeared from my site, but it wasn’t over yet, I could hardly feel my body, I could see my blood just pouring out of me, I was still going to die, I need to stay awake!

“Master Udon!”

Miko limped over to me with Vnaa crawling behind her, they both looked petrified, ha, can’t back-stab me if I’m already dead.

“Please hold on!”

Miko made her way to me and lifted me on her shoulders, but that was all I remember, I had once again blacked out.

“All this pain, all this torture, when will you succumb to the true monster you are? Kill anyone and everyone that will stand in your way! Make a mark on this world! Slaughter them by the hundreds, by the thousands, by the millions, make sure everyone knows the name Udon Kubo and let it strike fear into those who say it!

That voice again, whose is it? I only started hearing it once I got to this world, is it my conscience? It wants me to kill, to slaughter those who get in my way, I haven’t listened, and its caused me so much pain! No more being weak, I will kill! I will kill everyone who stands in my way!
