《The Awakened One, Book 1: Remnant》Chapter 53: Finalists

As the crowd continued to cheer and shout, the Finalists that didn’t have a match at that particular moment walked off the stage, exiting through one of the open archways that the competitors entered through. As the other Finalists exited the premises, the two people that were left on the stage were Nix and Lie Ren, both of whom were standing opposite one another in the central circle of the stage. Surrounding them were 4 different environments, each being filled to the brim with various ground-based Grimm, and as they stood face to face the announcer began explaining the stipulations of the top 8 matches. The man over the loudspeaker explained that the Grimm in these matches were not only more powerful but were also no longer confided to a specific area of the stage, so they could actively attack the competitors whenever and wherever. The basic rule of the pre-match tournament was that the participants were not allowed to pull their weapons/attack before the bell rang, but during the top 8 they were allowed to move around. These factors were seen almost immediately as once the announcement had been made and Nix and Lie Ren were confirmed to be ready, the Grimm immediately began attacking before the DING even sounded, giving Ren an extreme advantage as his presence disappeared with his Semblance.
The Grimm immediately attack Nix and she was forced to dodge the Grimm’s attacks until the bell finally sounded, giving her the chance to pull out her weapon and immediately eviscerate the surrounding Grimm with her dagger, but Ren intelligently coordinated his attacks with the wave of Grimm that recklessly charged at the Faunus. This gave Ren multiple opportunities to swiftly attack Nix from various different angles, but each attack he launched was swiftly deflected or dodged by the Panther Faunus. This continued for a while until Nix managed to eliminate all of the attacking Grimm all while Ren was attacking her with his coordinated attacks, and once he noticed this change, Ren retreated for the forest to attempt his usual ambush style tactics. However, for the first time, Nix switched her dagger back into it’s pistol form, aiming, and then firing directly at Ren’s back. The concentrated freezing blast of the weapon slammed into Ren’s back, the force of the attack knocking him completely off guard and left him skidding across the floor as he fell to the ground. Instead of pushing back up, Nix just ended the match with two more powerful shots of her hand cannon, each icy shot meeting its target, putting Ren’s Aura in the Red, and ending the match.
As the match finished, Nix helped Ren to his feet, giving him a handshake before the two of them walked off the stage in order to give way to the next contestants. On their way out, Nora tackled her lover aggressively, slamming him to the ground and pelting his face with kisses as she told him good of a job he did. While Nora continued to praise Ren, her name was called to enter back onto the stage as her match was about to begin, so she kissed Ren goodbye as she ran to center stage, standing happily across from Weiss Schnee. Weiss was silently standing, poised in from of the energetic, hammer wielding Huntress with Nora speaking to her with exceptional speed, saying pretty much anything that came to her mind as she waited for the match to begin. Once they announced that they were prepped, the bell sounded almost immediately, catching Nora completely off guard and giving Weiss the opportunity to create space in between them by shooting ice at the woman as she leaped backwards. The ice froze Nora’s feet for a moment, leaving her in place as the Grimm began swarming around her. Nora easily shattered the ice on her feet and began slamming the Grimm that surrounded her, even going as far as hopping on an Ursa’s back which surprised and excited the crowed, but after Weiss was able to clear the Grimm that surrounded her, she had created enough space between herself and Nora that the match had been pretty much decided.

Nora focused so much of her attention on joyfully crushing the Grimm that it seemed like she completely forgot that she was in a tournament in the first place, giving Weiss the opportunity to simply use her Semblance to launch the distracted Nora out of the Arena, solidifying her victory. After Weiss’s smooth victory, both her and Nora exited the stage to welcome the next two contestants who were Ruby Rose and Daisy Duke. The duo came out from the same entrance, which was already a bit weird, on top of that they were happily conversing with one another, laughing and joking all the way to the center of the Arena. Once the Faunus Human duo reached the center stage, they still joked and conversed as they waited for the announcer to ask whether or not they were prepared for the match, and after they confirmed yes, the Grimm began swarming. As soon as the first of the Grimm attacked, Ruby and Daisy were at each other’s backs, synching their movements and dodges as they supported one another to prevent them from being hurt, and this alliance didn’t end even after the bell sounded. Ruby immediately pulled Crescent Rose from her back and unfolded it into its Scythe form and began shooting to propel herself through cloud of Grimm, slashing and killing what she could. Daisy did the same, pulling two long, silver bladed short swords with Dust revolvers at the base of their blades like Weiss’s Myrtenaster from her back and immediately beginning to execute every Grimm in her way. The fox Faunus used the short swords as her primary attack method, skillfully slicing through the vitals of the Grimm, however she did occasionally throw small knives, darts, stars, and needles, each of them having Dust colored blades.
Ruby and Daisy collaborated with scary synchronicity as they dismembered each of the Grimm on the stage, going in through each of the environments and clearing them of the Grimm before they came back to the center stage together, both completely unharmed. Amidst the silence of the crowd, the conversation between the two of them became extremely audible and it began with Ruby saying, “mission complete! Thanks for helping me out, Daisy, I couldn’t have done it without you!”
The Faunus woman raised her hand in a high five motion, her hand swiftly being met with Ruby’s own as she replied, “that shit was mad fuckin easy, so it aint no problem Ruby, I wouldn’t have been able to do this without you either though, I’m not tryna get stabbed in the back or whatever. Besides, it works out for the both of us, now we can have a completely fair match without the black beasts messin everything up” the fox said as she tapped the shorter girl on the back.
Ruby smiled brightly back at the woman, “yup! So, now what do we do?”
“Well, we walk to the center of the damn stage, separate a reasonable distance from each other, and then, well, we Duke it out, no pun intended” she said with a small chuckle.
“Yes Ma’am!” Ruby yelled as the two of them reached center stage, saying few words before they smiled for a moment, turned their backs to one another, and walked in separate directions until they were a reasonable distance away. “So, Daisy, how do determine when to start?”
The Faunus women took a moment to think about it before pulling out a small, silver throwing knife from one of the pouches on her thigh and held it out in front of her face, “Imma toss this knife in the air and we can officially start once the shit hits the floor. Aight Ruby?”

“Ok! Should I put my weapon away first to?” Ruby asked, seeing as Daisy had her shorts swords stashed away in their sheaths at her back.
“You don’t have to if you don’t wanna, I don’t really care” she responded as she tossed the knife high into the air. “It’s your choice Ruby.” Ruby began hyper focusing on the woman in front of her, crouching low with her Scythe at her hip, waiting silently for the throwing knife to clatter against the ground. At the same time, Daisy stood straight up in a relaxed position, thinking, “oh… what a nice surprise to see that this happy go lucky girl can get serious. That is quite an impressive look for such an innocent face, if only she hadn’t been matched up against me. Sorry Ruby” her thought was immediately proceeded by the clang of metal against the ground, and unfortunately for Ruby, Daisy knew the exact instant that the knife would touch the ground.
The instant Ruby registered the knife clashing against the hard floor of the stage, she pulled the trigger of Crescent Rose, practically hearing the boom of the shot and feeling the recoil shoving her forward, but as she prepared to quickly strike the woman that stood in front of her, she suddenly realized that she hadn’t moved anywhere. “Huh? What happened?” Ruby thought out loud as she pulled the imaginary trigger on her Scythe once more, and after nothing happened again, she went too check if there was something wrong with Crescent Rose. It turns out there was something extremely wrong with the scythe, it was non-existent. “Huhuhuhuhuhhuh!!!! Where’d my scythe go?!? It disappeared!!! Oh my gosh, what do I do now! Where’d it go?!!? Daisy do you… know…. where” her words stopped short as she stared at the Faunus woman in front of her. “Hey, you took my Crescent Rose! Give it back! Wait, how’d you take it?!? And give it back!”
Daisy chuckled slightly as she twirled and inspected the massive scythe that was now in her possession, “wow, this is quite the weapon Ruby, this thing is strong as hell.”
“Thank you! How’d you take it tho!”
“It’s my Semblance, have you not been watching any of my matches up til now? I’ve been hinting at it at least a lil bit the whole damn tourney. Basically, it’s called ‘Gimme’ and it lets me mark things that I want and then take them, so as long as I touch something I can just bring it back to my hand almost whenever, obviously it has some restrictions, but I ain’t finna tell what those are yet. Don’t worry tho Ruby, Imma give back after this match, just forfeit or step outa the ring or som shit so I can get my win.”
Ruby thought about it for a moment before yelling, “no! I’m not giving up yet!” Ruby then sprinted as fast as she could at the women, quickly dashing across the ground, and appearing right in front of her, “take this!” Ruby shot her fist forward as fast and with as much power as she could, but once her fist connected with the woman’s chest, absolutely nothing happened. “Crap. Then take this! And this! And this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this!” Ruby rapidly punched and kicked the women with all her strength but to no avail, none of her attacks had any remote effect on the fox Faunus.
“Sorry Ruby, but your done” Daisy said as she grabbed Ruby from her hood and began leisurely walking towards the edge of the stage. “You should really do some training without the Scythe, what happens if someone else has the ability to take your weapon easily? You’ll be screwed.”
Ruby thought back to what Redman had told her before and she slumped down slightly, mumbling, “I know. But how did you even take it? I thought you had to mark the things that your gonna take first?”
“I do, I just did it while we were walking back to center stage. I kinda cheated on the knife toss to, I use them so of course I’d know the instant it was gonna touch the ground, so I activated my Gimme damn near the instant it hit the ground. Sorry Ruby, but I kinda tricked you. But it was really fun talking to you, so I hope that we can still be coo after this” the fox said as the two of them made it to the edge of the ring, dangling Ruby over the edge of the stage.
“Yeah, we can still be friends! Your super cool! But…”
“But what?”
“It’s my win!” Ruby quickly gripped her hand around Daisy’s wrist and immediately activated her Semblance. The two of them then bursted into thousands of red and orange petals, shooting forward off the stage and bolting straight for the floor of the Arena. Right before they slammed against the Arena’s ground, Ruby deactivated Petal Burst, maneuvering her ability to have herself come out of the spiral on top, having her hands pinned to Daisy’s chest as she pushed her closer and closer to the ground. “The floor is lava! Whoever touches the floor first dies!” It felt as if time had frozen for a moment as the two slowly fell towards the cold floor and it seemed as though it was over, Daisy’s back came closer and closer to the floor until they were basically touching. However, in seemingly the last possible moment, with inhuman speed, and insane precision, Daisy suddenly shifted the entirety of her body using Ruby and her scythe as her aerial anchors. The insanely quick shift forced Ruby off of the top of the fox’s body, making it so she could turn mid-air and force Ruby roughly into the ground directly before herself.
Time resumed for the two of them as they felt the force of hard floor echoes through their bodies, forcing their attentions onto one another. Daisy exhaled a massive breath, “oh my fucking god you almost had me, if you didn’t announce what you were about to do, I might’ve been fucked! Damn, sorry Ruby but I can’t lose just yet I got someone I gotta meet” the foxy woman said with a bright smile.
Ruby was shocked for a moment, never seeing anyone do something like that before, but as Daisy’s words were registered in her head, her usual lovable smile grew across her face, “yeah!” The crowd lit up in celebration at the incredible showing, seeing the amazing replay on the screen to confirm who the winner of the match was, and Ruby walked happily out of the arena with Daisy at her side, smiling as brightly as she did when they first entered. The announcer took a moment to ‘deeply’ analyze what happened during the match so that the civilian crowd could understand and after he finished the explanation, it was time for the final match of round one of the top 8. Both Yang and Neyah were given their glorified introductions, they both walked leisurely to the center of the stage, and unlike before, had slight smirks on their faces as they faced off against one another. No words were exchanged but through their faces alone they could tell what the other was thinking and (Y/N) all the way up in the stands caught on to the same thought. “This is gonna be a close match” he thought as he watched Neyah and Yang get into their fighting stances, Neyah immediately splitting her Spear into two’s as she prepared for the incoming battle with Yang. “On pure stats alone, the match would definitely go to Neyah, her strength and speed are higher than Yang’s so she would be able to slowly whittle her down until she wins, but since Yang has an incredible Semblance and she’ll get stronger the more she gets hit, this match will be extremely close. If Neyah wanted an easier win, she’d just use her superior speed and range with both her Bow and Spear to keep her at arm’s length, from there she could just hit and run till Yang’s in the red, but she already split her spear so she’s clearly taking her head on. I guess we’ll just see how this plays out” as he finished his thought, the announcer asked the duo if they were ready, to no response, so he took it as a yes and the Grimm began their hounding.
Neyah and Yang continued their stare off until the Grimm got to close and then Neyah leaped up in the air, out of the way of the beasts, keeping her distance as close to Yang as possible as she hopped on the heads of the Grimm, waiting for the bell to ring. Yang on the other hand stood completely still, watching as the Grimm swarmed her, clawing, slashing, biting her entire body, all while making no sound. The sight shocked the audience and the broadcasters, however everyone that knew Yang knew exactly what she was doing, she took each of the hits on like a champ and once the bell sounded, she practically exploded in flames , hair glowing, eyes burning, body flaming. The Grimm that surrounded her were killed by the power of her simply activating her Semblance, and due to the nature of her transformation it was very clear how much she had truly powered up. She had definitely sacrificed a good portion of her Aura to boost her strength up to or more likely far beyond Neyah’s, putting the girl in a dangerous but advantageous state over her opponent. Yang wasted no time after her burn activated, immediately shooting her explosive shotgun shells in Neyah’s directly, which the Faunus easily avoided, not bothering to kill any of the Grimm even after the bell rang.
After firing off two shots Yang stopped her ranged pressure for a moment, instead opting to rush the woman down, running towards the horde of Grimm as she stared down the Faunus that was leaping above them. Fortunately, Yang didn’t have to rush the woman down anymore as Neyah leaped from the top of the Grimm and wildly slashed her dual spears at the approaching hot head, but her attack was met with the clash of metal on metal as Yang’s powerful punch clashed with Neyah’s attack from above. The weapons scraped against each other for a moment before Neyah pushed off of Yang’s attack, sending herself higher in the air then forming a white, Aura made arrow in her hand, and throwing directly at Yang’s face, forcing her to block the incoming projectile. That gave Neyah the opportunity to land freely and begin her attack on Yang, beginning her offense with low kick to her feet, which Yang was forced to step back to dodge. Neyah immediately pressed the woman harder than before and what ensued was an intense, intricate display of highly skilled close-range combat. Neyah pressed hard with her weapons, rapidly slashing at any openings she saw, but at the same time she was purposefully avoiding attacking Yang’s upper-chest area due to the fact that it was her central strike zone, and the fiery woman could easily parry with her gauntlets if she attacked in that range.
This continued for a while, Neyah using her speedy attacks to her advantage and pushing Yang back, more and more towards the open, ice plain environment, but as they got closer the Grimm began closing in on the duo. Neyah was fully aware of this fact and allowed Yang to powerfully punch away one of her spear attacks, giving her the opportunity to switch from defense to offense, and the instant she achieved the advantage she began barraging the Faunus with a hail of powerful blows that she was forced to dodge. Even with her superior speed, Neyah was still forced to take a few light hits, mostly shaves as she tried her best to mitigate the incoming damage and attempt to take her turn back., but at this rate her lose was pretty much ensured. Yang’s Aura was incredibly low but that meant that her strength was incredibly high, Neyah’s Aura was at a level in which a single attack from the powered-up firecracker would bring her down into the red, and because of Yang’s already established offense there wasn’t much that Neyah could do to get out of her current situation. However, as the Grimm horde closed their distance, becoming almost close enough to land an attack on the duo, Neyah suddenly formed a massive white shield out of her Aura and shoved it forward, putting it directly in the path of Yang’s incoming punch.
Yang didn’t attempt a counter, instead she only increased the speed and strength of her strike, and once Ember Celica contacted the white round shield the Aura made defensive equipment completely shattered like glass. The CRASH of glass shattering echoed throughout the stadium as the Aura shield shattered into hundreds of shards that spread out into the air, skewing Yang’s vision for only a moment before she swung hard with her free hand, crashing her fist into the face of something and causing it to explode under her fists pressure. Unfortunately, she soon became aware of the fact that her fist didn’t crash into Neyah’s face, instead she had just completely irradicated one of the approaching Beowolves, but before she could check to see where her true opponent disappeared to, the Grimm were on top of her. The Grimm were exceptionally weak, not even having a hint of an opportunity to land an attack on the fiery woman, but as she stood her ground and defended her position against them, she forced herself to focus all of her attention on finding where Neyah was going to appear from. However, as she finished off the remnants of the Grimm horde, she saw that Neyah was on the other side of the stage, finishing off the group of Grimm that had also attacked her.
Yang smirked slightly thinking that Neyah’s plan to use the Grimm to her advantage failed because she was attacked as well, however what she failed to notice was Neyah’s chosen weaponry, at her hip were six Aura arrows and in both of her hands was her ‘Purposeful Brightness’ spear however it was made completely from her Aura. Neyah’s Aura at this point was practically nonexistent, it was only yellow by practically a pixel with Yang’s being similar but still clearly slightly higher than hers, and because of that the match seemed to be decided. Yang clearly noticed this and rapidly launched herself forward using her shotgun shots to boost her momentum, but as she approached the Faunus, she began throwing her hand arrows at the woman but because of the speed that she was approaching, and how fast Neyah threw them, Yang was only able to dodge one, forced to take the other hits to her Aura, putting her closer to red, but not enough that she’d lose to the hand projectiles. After taking all five she was on top of Neyah, the Faunus being able to easily dodge her first powerful attack and thus putting them in a similar situation as before. The Panthera Warrior was forced to dodge each and every incoming attack that her opponent threw, and Yang was not holding back in the slightest, knowing that a single blow would put Neyah into the red, Yang purposefully enhanced each of her attacks with an explosive shell so that if her opponent didn’t manage to completely dodge each and every one of her attacks, nicking her with the explosion would give Yang the win.
However, as Neyah dodged Yang’s attacks in a trance like state, she focused all of her attention on the single arrow that she purposefully threw slow enough for Yang to dodge, and as she did so the arrow suddenly came flying back towards the duo, aiming straight for the back of Yang’s head. The arrow flew through the air at an incredible speed and as Yang’s attention was focused entirely on hitting Neyah, the arrow careened itself into the back of her head, shattering the object on impact and leaving her off guard just enough for Neyah to find an opening. The arrow wasn’t strong enough to bring Yang’s Aura into the red, but it was noticeable enough to catch her off guard, and Neyah saw that opportunity to wildly stabbing her spear in a piercing attack at Yang, aiming for her open chest. Yang’s focus was broken only for a moment and as she saw Neyah’s attack incoming, she refused to give up her offense, so instead of defending the attack she dipped to the side to throw all of her strength into a powerful straight at the incoming spear. Yang knew that her strength was far beyond Neyah’s and because of that her attack would easily overpower hers, but as her gauntlet clashed against the spear, the Faunus’s weapon shattered like glass. The two competitors momentums were carried fully through the now destroyed spear, Yang’s fist carried forward without stopping as she had put all of her strength into the swing while Neyah’s body continued to close the distance between them as her forward momentum pushed her towards Yang. Neyah immediately recognized her current situation and turned her open hand into a fist as she bypassed Yang’s attack and shoved her fist with all the strength she could manage against Yang’s open chest.
Once the punch connected against Yang, the attack itself didn’t do much only managing to push the woman back slightly and stop Yang’s attack from hitting her, but it was just enough to push her Aura over the edge of yellow and into the red. As the attack connected, the horn signifying the ending of the match sounded, leaving Yang slightly down but overall satisfied in how the match ended, giving Neyah a strong fist bump to push her Aura into the red as well before they both walked off stage, side by side, a bit closer than they were before. The crowd was ecstatic, and it was clear that Yang and Neyah’s match was by far the most exhilarating match of the tournament thus far, and the announcer didn’t miss a beat as he announced the same information, and while they were going over the match in its entirety, he gave immense praise to both competitors explaining how this match could’ve easily gone either way. The duo received heavy praises all the way up until the next match sounded, being Nix vs Weiss, another very intense match up between two similar fighters.
Due to the stat differential and the nature of the competition, (Y/N) gave Weiss the overwhelming edge in the match up, thinking that with her superior INT, their similar speeds, and especially the versatility of Weiss’s semblance, she’d be able to clutch out the win with a bit of difficulty. However, it seemed as Nix had a clear strategy for the match up as the instant the match began, she pulled out her Bell for the first time in the tournament and rang the object loud enough for the somber sound to echo throughout the entire stadium. Something extremely surprising then followed, Weiss clearly felt her own ability being weakened, but the Grimm on the other hand seemed too only increase in strength as they speed up and went berserk on both Nix and Weiss, but once the Grimm reached Nix, she simply rung the bell again and they were then frozen in place. Weiss was clearly retreating to the icy tundra environment that was flat and void of Grimm, however the Grimm didn’t let up their chase, in fact, neither did Nix. After freezing the Grimm in place with her Bell, she changed her Bell to it’s dagger state and dashed across the field towards Weiss’s retreating form, and during her sprint the matches DING rang through the stadium giving her opponent time to begin her attack. Although the Grimm were powered up, they were still no match for Weiss’s ability, but instead of dashing in to finish them off, she stood in place with her sword straight up and her hand on her Dust chamber and formed a yellowish-white clock Glyph underneath her feet.
Weiss was then cloaked in a blurry Aura before she dashed backwards with incredible speed, putting herself clear from harms way from both Nix and the Grimm, and once she reached that distance, she resumed her former standing position and formed multiple sky-blue Glyphs in the air. Out of each of the Glyphs, ice shards appeared and shot at an insane speed at the horde of powered up Grimm, each icicle that contacted a beast tore it asunder, instantly killing the being and giving Weiss the opportunity to reapply her speedy enhancement. The approaching Nix saw what she was doing and converted her dagger to its pistol form to fire off pop shots in order to silence Weiss’s attack. The attempt worked, forcing Weiss to use her sword to nullify the icy beams before pointing her weapon forward with her hand lining it’s blade, and forming a quick Glyph beneath her feet. With incredible speed, Weiss shot herself forward into the crowd of Grimm, not worried about their presence and instead focusing on the Panther Faunus that was creeping her way through them. Seeing Weiss rocketing towards her, Nix rolled out of her trajectory, turning her gun to its bell and immediately ringing it to keep the Grimm in place. Weiss didn’t let up her attack as she stopped her forward momentum and turned to the rolling Faunus with a piercing stab that was swiftly met with the ring of a bell and the transforming of the object to a dagger. As Nix defended Weiss’s strike, she turned the bell into a dagger and dashed low towards her opponent with her weapon down to her hip. Seeing the attack coming, Weiss took a small step back to get out of its range, preparing to counterattack the girl’s whiff, but something that she didn’t calculate occurred.
Nix’s dagger began glowing a bright blue and as she slashed across her hip, horizontally, the blade whiffed as expected, but through the motion of the slash an extra light-blue blade like projectile formed in the air, and that aerial blade shot forward into the unsuspecting Schnee. The sharp projectile blade slammed into Weiss’s abdomen, forcing her off her feet and sending her soaring low to the ground far out of the ice biome as she attempted to regain her balance, and mid flight she managed to find her balance to land on her feet. As she caught herself, she noticed that Nix was already ringing her Bell again, letting loose the Grimm that surrounded her as well as the ones that were much closer to her in the center of the stage, she then understood the general plan that Nix had to defeat her. Weiss deduced that Nix’s plan was to simply overwhelm her with both her own attacks and Grimm in order to keep her from activating her Glyphs, so in order to counter her plan Weiss decided to charge into the Grimm that were farther away from Nix and irradicate them as soon as possible. The idea she had was eliminating the Grimm as fast as possible so Nix would lose that factor of pressure on her, and as she launched herself into the group of Grimm and began slaughtering them with extreme speed, her planned seemed to be working.
Once Nix charged into Weiss once more with her dagger, she utilized the extended projectile range of the weapon to keep Weiss at a reasonable distance away while continuously dodging the Grimm that surrounded her, keeping Weiss pinned down as she had to defend against both Nix’s attacks and the Grimm’s attacks, but with the rapidly lessening amount of the beasts, Weiss was given more and more breathing room. Weiss then took advantage of an opening she noticed to catch Nix off guard and stab a powerful strike into her chest, pushing her deep into the Grimm that she was ‘controlling’. The sudden attack caught her by surprise and as she was surrounded by the Grimm, she was forced to slaughter them to prevent taking any more additional damage, and as she was busy with that Weiss was given the chance to activate her Glyphs once more and formed 5 red glyphs that shot fireballs form each of them at Nix. The fireballs quickly reached the woman in her distracted state and the Faunus only had enough time to put up her guard as the fire Dust exploded around her. The force of the explosions sent her soaring backwards through the air, but she was still able to recover mid-flight and land on her feet with her handgun active.
Weiss wasted little time, reactivating her Glyphs and forming a barrier in front of herself to prevent the Faunus’s bullets from hitting her, and after the barrier Glyph was formed, she created the time dilation one beneath her feet once more, enhancing her speed and perception once more. Seeing this, Nix fired off a few shots from her pistol before tuning The Lady of The Snow back into it’s central bell form, ringing it to reapply the debuff. Weiss completely ignored Nix’s antics and behind her barrier she pointed her Myrtenaster forward at her target, putting her free hand on the chamber of her weapon, and prepping to launch herself towards the Faunus. However just before she did, Nix made a beeline for the open ice biome, and seeing how far she was able to move in such a short time, Weiss activated another of her Glyphs and a five black circular Glyphs that decreased in size as they got further from her rapidly formed from her feet to Nix’s general direction. In the time since the Glyphs activation, Nix had reached the biome and was very far away from Weiss, but she was still a straight shot from the Schnee, and not only that but the princess was more than confident that she would reach her Faunus lover.
With her target in her sights, Weiss dropped her barrier and was about to shoot herself forward at an incredible speed to stab her opponent and win her match, but right before she launched herself, she heard a familiar noise. Nix had rung her bell loudly as she stopped running to turn and face the Princess, and the instant Weiss heard the bell echo in her ears an incredible feeling filled her body, and her Glyphs suddenly grew much larger than before. She immediately knew what just happened, but Weiss’s finger had already pulled the trigger, so she launched forward at an insane, uncontrollable speed, flying far past her intended target and heading straight for the edge of the Arena. Nix had enhanced Weiss’s stats at the last moment, forcing not only her speed to become much, much higher than before, but also increasing the strength of the effects on her Glyphs, resulting in Weiss flying, uncontrollably, unstoppably towards the edge of the stage. However, because of her extremely enhance perception of her surroundings, Weiss was able to counteract the uncontrollable speed that was about to send her flying off the edge of the stage, and her counter solution was simple, she used her enhanced, time dilated speed to form a powerful barrier directly in front of her, slamming her body into the strong Glyph and stopping herself just at the edge of the stage, preventing her ring out loss.
The crash was insanely disorienting, knocking the wind from her lungs and spinning her brain as she tried to make sense of her surroundings, but before she was able to get back into the fight, she felt a dull stabbing feeling at her back. Turning to face the cause of the feeling, she looked up from the ground to see Nix slice her blade across her back, bringing her Aura down into the red, and sounding the match ending horn. Instead of celebrating her victory in anyway, Nix bent down to check on Weiss’s health, making sure she was okay in every way before the two of them walked off the stage with Nix supporting Weiss the entire way. Seeing Weiss in her state, Winter and Willow chose to go down to go check on their family before eventually coming back with Weiss in tow, and (Y/N) took that opportunity to heal up both her Aura and HP since she took most of that damage to her HP rather than her Aura which was a bit odd. But after everything calmed down and the crowd finished giving their props to both of the competitors, the next match was announced, and Neyah and Daisy took the floor.
Once the two of the Faunus met in the center stage, Daisy excitingly said, “nice to finally see your cute ass face again Neyah. It’s been a long ass fucking time for real” she said as she stood with her hand on her hip, staring deeply into her eyes.
Neyah looked confusingly at the women, “who the fuck are you?”
The woman’s face scrunched up slightly and she began glaring at the other Faunus, “what the fuck to you mean who the fuck am I? You tellin me you don’t remember me?”
“That’s exactly what the fuck I’m sayin fox, you got a problem with me?!?” Neyah stared daggers into the eyes of the fox Faunus, gripping her spear a bit tighter and taking small step towards the woman.
“Yeah, I got a problem, a problem with your shitty ass memory” Daisy said as she took a large step towards the Panther Faunus.
“Oh, well my fuckin bad, I’ve never heard of a Fox Faunus named Daisy and I damned sure aint never seen someone like you before! Trust, I would never forget a Faunus that looked even half as strong as you, so clearly your just fuckin trippin!”
Daisy chuckled slightly and responded with, “I guess Imma just beat your fuckin ass to jog your memory a little bit then, Neyah” she said as she pulled her swords from their hilts and stood with the both of them to her sides.
“Heh, you can try if you want, but Imma have to beat the delusion out of your empty fuckin skull to prove to you that I don’t know you” Neyah spoke as she split her spear into two, holding each of the blade heads at her side.
The announcer then saw the opportunity to see if the two of them were ready and he shouted, “okay, are both of our contestants ready!”
“Hell yeah/Hell yeah!” In response to the girl’s ‘hell yeah’ the Grimm were unleashed onto the duo and the DING of the match came soon after, but instead of attacking one another, the both of them immediately glid through the horde of Grimm, slaughtering each and everyone until there was none left, in a very similar fashion to Daisy’s previous match. However, Neyah and Daisy did not cooperate, and they simply killed whatever Grimm they came across as fast as possible as if it was some kind of competition, and once the final Grimm went down, they attack each other without notice. Daisy started off the attacks in the forest, leaping from tree to tree, raining down Dust powered blades from the treetops as she tried to target the allusive Panther Faunus. However, Neyah easily dodged and deflected the incoming attacks with her weapons and watched as the projectiles that she defended against disappear back into the Fox Faunus’s hands whenever she wished. Eventually she was able to close the distance between the two of them and they began attacking one another in a beautiful, speedy dance of incredible proportions. The audience watched in awe as the Faunus duo, threw blinding attacks at one another, each going back and forth through the tree’s as they tried to get a one up on each other. Daisy often leaped away from Neyah in an attempt to sneak up on her from another direct but to no avail, Neyah’s senses were far too great and because of it the Faunus practically never lost sight of her.
Eventually, Daisy began hailing her throwable weapons at Neyah, shoving her Aura into each of them to activate their special properties, allowing the red knives to fall like fireballs, the blue stars to glid with ice, and the yellow needles to glow with paralytic electricity. However, in front of Neyah all of those weapons failed as the Faunus easily maneuvered her body through the attacks and forced the woman into a close-range situation where she needed to beat her in sword to spear combat. The two Faunus’s fought for a long time, easily matching each other in both speed and strength, however once Neyah had the advantage since, she wisely conserved her Aura instead of burning it on her Semblance, and once Neyah managed to throw Daisy out of the forest and into the jagged mountains the match was done. Neyah combined her dual spears back together into one and utilized the mass open space of the biome to compliment her extended reach. From there, Daisy had no where to run or hide and she was forced to take nick after nick and stab after stab until eventually Neyah ended the fight by knocking her off balance and launching an Aura spear at the Faunus, declaring her victory. After the match was done and the crowd began clapping, hooting, and hollering at the impressive showing of skill, Neyah helped up her fellow Faunus and they had a short chuckle about how maybe Daisy didn’t know Neyah since, ‘the Neyah I know would never beat me in a fight’

8 69Hell Jumper
(This is a sort of public first draft of the story. Constructive feedback is appreciated.) The year is 2510, and the world has gone to shit. Thanks to centuries of climate crisis and global instability, Amber is one of billions of people who lives out in the barren and dangerous wastes, struggling to survive day to day. Meanwhile, the elite live in utopian cities. Behind their steel walls, they want for nothing and their lives are that of luxury. For anyone unfortunate enough to be born outside of these paradises, they can undergo the Gilding Trials. A dangerous competition that can earn the winners a better life. Amber had always considered this a scam at worst, or a pipe dream at best. Fully believing that there would be no way the elite in the city of Aurum would let outsiders join. Despite her worries, her wife’s fatal injuries reveal a grim reality: there is only one place for her to get the care she needs. Aurum. And the only way to get in is to sign up for the Gilding Trials.
