《The Awakened One, Book 1: Remnant》Chapter 31: Taking Out The Trash

The man who stepped onto floor was incredibly large in stature, he stood tall at 6’ 7’’ and he was absolutely ripped. He had long, shaggy, blonde hair that hung low, draping onto his shoulders, and growing out of the sides of his head were two large, tan ram like horns that curled around his head, stopping out besides his eyes. Speaking of his eyes, they were incredibly sharp, but his sclerae were a bright brown color that contrasted well with the rest of his visage. His hair covered most of his facial features, but even underneath that he could see his strong jaw line and sharp facial features. Z wore a long black leather jacket that flowed with every step that he took, and underneath that jacket was a partially shredded white under shirt that revealed his chiseled chest. His pants were black jeans that were tightly fit to his muscular, powerful legs and on his feet were long leather boots the went up to the center of his shins. Folded up on his back was a pure black bow that looked to be completely untouched.
“Z huh, this guy looks pretty interesting, Observe”

“Oh damn, this guy is extraordinarily strong this’ll be wash” he thought as he watched the large man take the floor, sizing up his opponent. “I guess he hasn’t unlocked his Semblance yet so that’s why that didn’t show up, but why are his titles all question marks? Normally if you didn’t have any then it’d just show up plank, so why is it appearing like this? Weird.” Z was barehanded, and even as the twins prepared to announce the start of the match by walking out from the center of the stage, he didn’t make a single move towards the folded bow on his back.

“I can’t really say I didn’t think something like this would happen, but I guess things like this are inevitable when you have an overpowered ability. Aint that right Meta?”
[Yup!]
The twins leaped out from the stage, jumping back up to the top of the balcony, putting themselves in front of their specified chairs. As they softly landed, Mil turned to the giant that stood with them above the rest and prompted him to take over the announcement. “It’s your turn now Junior. Try not to fuck it up!”
Junior rolled his eyes slightly at the comment, but he did move into position, walking to the edge of the mirador in front of his seat, looking over the rest of his men. “Listen up! We all should be familiar with the rules, but for you idiots that can’t remember shit lemme repeat em. This is a battle to determine who is the strongest, not the best equipped, so Dust is not allowed. However, any weapons that you traditionally use are of course allowed. This is a single elimination tourney, so once you lose you are done, and speaking of losing, once you take a solid hit without Aura you’re finished! Now,” he began as he picked up his red rocket launcher and placed it over his shoulder, “the fight will start once this rocket explodes! So, Z, Fei, are you both ready!” As soon as he spoke, the two prepared fighters nodded their heads, letting the room know that they were ready. “Good” Junior said as he pulled the trigger on his weapon, prompting a single large red rocket to launch from it, and as it reached the center of stage it exploded in a cloud of red smoke.

Fei moved first, charging towards Z with his spiked metal bat raised high in the air poised the strike the Faunus. As the Xiong brought the weapon down onto Z’s head, the horned man swerved slightly the left, dodging the incoming attack, and he immediately followed up with a quick one two strong punch combo to the large man’s core which pushed him back slightly. Z then rushed in after his strike and went to hit the giant with a strong right-hand strike, but his fist clashed loudly against Fei’s metallic weapon, and the large man took that opportunity to bash at the man with his free weapon. Z then used his free hand to parry the incoming strike, completely bare handed which stunned some of the cheering onlookers, but as their dance of parry’s deflections, and trading blows continued, (Y/N) couldn’t help but question the integrity of the match.
“This match should’ve been over after the first two strikes that Z dealt to Fei, he is far superior in strength and endurance to him. So, why is Z holding back so much?” As the match continued on, this question stayed in his mind, and once the Faunus won in a fantastical manner, using his horns to strongly deflect a dual overhead strike from his opponent then slamming his leg against his chest to bring him down, (Y/N) believed that the answer had came to him. “Maybe he’s just a showman. I guess it would be pretty boring to watch him completely run through the competition so easily but knowing that he could take out most of these guys in a single hit makes the matches a lot less interesting.” Now that he had already determined who the winner of most of these matches was going to be, he took most of the time analyzing the types of individuals that were going to be leading his organization at the smaller levels. They were all men, which was unsurprising to him because of the Mafioso nature of the former syndicate, but he was formulating an idea of what to do to change that, and most of them seemed to be the strong willful type which meant that they’d be easier to control as long as their ideals aligned with his own, which they did. Their overall strength wasn’t overwhelming, but they were still much stronger than the others in the organization and therefore most of the average huntsman he had seen around Beacon which was about expected.
As the matches took place, (Y/N) of course applauded whenever he saw it necessary and kept up the visage of an interested leader throughout the fights, but he wasn’t surprised when the ram Faunus came out on top, winning the tournament and becoming the fourth and ‘final’ member of the Devil’s inner circle. At his win, everyone celebrated, running into the arena and lifting him high into the air, and once most of the commotion died down the Devil himself walked down to the edge of the balcony and congratulated the man on his win, reminding him that he’d be officially welcomed into the circle the following night. Z graciously accepted his leaders’ words and took a small bow showing his fealty to his superior which the Devil waved off, telling him that they were now of the same cloth, a Clan. The rest of the night was spent in celebration, drinks were guzzled down by the Clan’s people, the dance floor was overrun with excitedly drunk men, and the music blared louder than ever before.
As the sun began rising over the city, (Y/N) and his pet made a silent exit, leaving the aftermath of the celebration to his trusted companions. Once he and Byakko got back to their room at beacon, they fell back into rhythm with (Y/N) replacing his clone and Byakko finding a good spot to lay on his resting body. After about an hour, the girls awoke from their slumber, and as usual, they showered him with their love and affection. They drowned the man in kisses, hugs, and snuggles as they asked him about how his night went with Nix sneaking in a question about when they’d be able to meet Scarlet which he responded with ‘soon’. The group of lovers spent the rest of the day hanging out with one another, with the central topics of discussion being the upcoming Summer Tournament that was beginning in two weeks. The girls already felt confident in their ability to beat most of their competition, especially since they’ve been training with Glynda alongside Pyrrha, who is supposedly the strongest incoming freshman, they felt that top 3 was assured, but they still felt inclined to train harder, not wanting to lose to one another.

The way that they explained the tournament was that it would unofficially begin with a few days of Huntsman exhibition matches to show off the strength of those that are currently defending their cities day in and out. Essentially it has a triple function as it reassures the general public by showing them the incredible strength of the ones that are protecting them, showing the official more refined version of Huntsman combatants in comparison to the amateurs that were about to be seen, and getting people into Beacon to spend their money on the other festivities that were occurring simultaneously with the event. After that, the official Summer Tournament began on the Friday of that week going all the way until the finals on Sunday. Surprisingly it was during this conversation that he finally learned the calendar system in Remnant which had striking similarities to the one on earth. Both had 12 months and about 30 days in each, except Remnant had exactly 30 in every month except the last month of the year that had 35, bringing their total days in a year to 365. Obviously, the days of the week were still the same, sharing the same names, length, and importance for the most part. The weekdays were Monday-Thursday with Friday-Sunday being considered the weekends where traditional workers have their days off. He also learned of the names of the 12 months which were: Light (January), Ice (February), Sky (March), Rain (April), Growth (May), Bloom (June), Sun (July), Heat (August), Warmth (September), Amber (October), Break (November), Dark (December).
As he learned the information, he determined that today was Thursday, the 10th of Sun (July). Which meant that the first day of the Summer Tournament would begin on Friday the 25th, giving the group lots of time to prepare for the upcoming competition. After meeting with Glynda and talking to her about this topic while they trained, he learned that Beacon’s year officially began on the 10th of Heat (August) so he kept that in mind when planning ahead for the future.
The rest of the day went the same as any other, training more with Glynda while focusing heavily on his Semblance so he could level it up to MAX and get its EX-ability, and helping the other girls improve on the skills that they’ve been focused on improving. After all that was said and done, they said their goodbyes, giving each other hugs and kisses, before heading back to (Y/N)’s temp room to rest. As the girls fell fast asleep, (Y/N) did his usual thing and exited the premises with Byakko in hand, teleporting down the massive hill that led him to his club. As he reached the large building, he saw a few differences in its design and the changes gave him a swift moment of pause. Firstly, the large carpet that rolled out from the main entrance was now black instead of red and sown into its center was his signature Demonic logo that he had become synonymous with and secondly, high above the glass door entryway was a large, illuminated billboard screen that looked very similar to the one in his office window except this one had a crimson background. The last change that he noticed was the change in window color, they were black, but now they were a deep almost bloody red.
After taking a moment to analyze the rest of the building’s changes, which were minor in comparison, he teleported into the office to an interesting scene unfolding. “What about The Devil’s Sauna?”
“Ooooo so like, how about The Devil’s Lounge?”
“Yeah! Or The Ninth Circle!”
“No, no, no, it’s gotta be something more powerful than that! How about Bloodbath!”
“Like, no!”
“What about The Devil’s Scythe?”
“Fuck no!”
“Ok, ok, how about The Klan’s Killer Kegger?”
“Junior.”
“Yes?”
“Shut the fuck up.”
“Yes ma’am.”
As (Y/N) took a step further into the carpeted room, he managed to capture the attention of his companions, “How about, you all tell me what the fuck is going on here” he said.
As soon as the twins recognized his presence, their faces immediately lit up with joy and they shot up from their seats to wrap him in a hug, “Bro/Brother!”
As the twins kept their arms wrapped tightly around his waists, his lover walked up to her Honey while she began explaining their current situation. “Welcome back Hon, we were just discussing some possible name changes for the Club now that we’ve officially separated ourselves from the Xiong family. If we are going to do so physically, and we’ve already began making changes to the appearance of the headquarters, then we also have to do so in name as well. The process has been a little slower than usual, and some people have been helping more than others,” she said as she side eyed Junior, “but we should be able to come up with something decent soon enough. Do you have any ideas Hon?”
“None right now, but its not too urgent as of now anyway. We won’t be giving out the new uniforms and assigning everyone’s name and new position until tomorrow (every night you go out, unless specified, it’s passed Midnight aka 12am meaning that the next day has begun) so we still have some time to figure everything out. However, there is one thing that we have to address earlier than everything else, and that is of course our new member. Is he here?”
In that moment, Junior stood up from his spot slumped in his chair and spoke, “Yes sir. Oh, and welcome back Boss” he said as he bowed as usual. “He’s been waiting one floor down since earlier today; I had a chance to talk with him for a moment and he seems very excited to finally officially meet you. So, I told him I’d let him know as soon as you arrived so we could get acquainted. Should I call him up?”
“Yeah, go ahead,” he said, and Junior immediately exited the room to bring Z into the room, “uhm girls, Mil, Mel, you can let me go now” he whispered to the twins as he gently pat their heads.
“Like no! Never!”
“Yeah, Never!”
“Did something happen while I was gone?” (Y/N) didn’t ask the question to anyone in particular, but he did turn to Scarlet as he wondered what was up with the twins.
Hel let out a long sigh before addressing the question, “I just told them earlier about how the Clan has been coming together really well lately, and after we finish organizing everyone it will provide you with a lot of natural, full functioning, autonomy. That means that you wouldn’t have to be in office nearly as much as you normally would, so you could focus on accomplishing bigger and better things while giving orders from a far.”
As Hel finished her explanation, the twins began rubbing their heads roughly into his chest, “I know you might have to leave, so Imma get all the hugs and kisses I need now to hold me over until our next meeting!”
“Yeah! So, like we don’t die from lack of Bro support or something!”
“Uhm, well, I don’t really plan on going anywhere. I’ll always be here at least once a night to see all of you and get a quick debrief of what’s been happening since I’ve been gone. It is true that I won’t be here all night like I usually am, but I’m never gonna neglect you guys in any capacity.”
“Really/really?”
“Yes, of course. And plus, this means that there may come a time when I can finally take off this mask and hang out with you two officially! Like during the daytime and stuff.”
“Like really/really!?!?!” They squealed out with an incredible amount of excitement in their voices,
“Like, yeah! Now, can you please let go of me so I can go sit down?”
“Ok/ok!” They replied, giving him light kisses on the sides of his temples, the part where his face wasn’t covered by the mask, before letting go of him. After he had acquired his freedom, he walked over to his now empty chair and sat down, following directly after him was Scarlets fine ass plopping down into his lap. As the rest of the people in the room finished settling down into their seats, they heard a loud knock on the door, prompting the Devil to raise his voice to grant entry to the incomers. In that moment, two very tall men opened up the large doors, granting themselves entry into the Devil’s office.
Z wore the same thing that he wore the previous night with the bow still folded up onto his back, and he walked further into the office until he was standing in front of the Devil’s desk, right in front of the still three chairs. “Welcome to the top Mr. Z” (Y/N) said, welcoming their new accomplice.
“It’s about time I get to meet you, I’ve waited what feels like an eternity for this moment!” Z had a softer voice then what you would expect from a man with his frame, it wasn’t high pitch, but it didn’t grumble and rumble with deepness either. It was just soft enough that his voice always came off in a very friendly manner, and even without his voice his entire stature gave off a very friendly vibe. His smile was ecstatic when he spoke, and he stretched his arm out towards the center of the desk to shake (Y/N)’s hand. “Oh, and please, call me Zeb, I only really tell people that I don’t know that well, or don’t respect to call me Z.”
“Alright then Zeb,” he said as he shook the man’s hand, “it’s nice to meet you as well.” The two clenched one another’s hands in a strong handshake before letting go, allowing Zeb to return to his idle stance with his hands behind his back. “So, we don’t exactly have everything prepared for you just yet as you still have to tell Hel and Junior how you want your chair customized and what not, but as of this moment you are still a part of the Elites. Do you think you could tell us a little bit about yourself?”
“Yeah sure, uhm where do I even start? “He said out loud, taking a moment to think before he began explaining, “so, as you can see, I am both a ram and bear Faunus. My mother was a short, stout ram Faunus and she gave me my horns, but my father was a big, burly, seven-foot bear Faunus which is where I got most of my physique and strength. I say was because they died about half a decade ago, and after that I left menagerie to look for something to do with my life” he explained as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“Sorry to here about your loss, I know going through shit like that is hard” (Y/N) said, comforting the new addition.
“Nah don’t worry about it, I’ve already gotten over it since then, and plus, they wouldn’t have wanted me to dwell on it anyway. As I was saying though, after I left Menagerie I wandered around this continent for a while, using my natural strength to make myself useful to some of the more protected villages in the outskirts of this city. You know, just getting rid of Grimm, physical labor, protecting against bandits, and things like that. Eventually I finally got to Vale, and when I got here, I started hearing rumors about a new crime lord in the city, running the Xiong Family. I didn’t really understand what all that meant since I’d never been in Vale before, but after asking around a bit, I learned that you cut Hei Xiong’s arm off cause he was talkin shit about the Faunus. I don’t know if your aware of this, but in the Faunus community you’ve lowkey become something like a legend because of it, so I determined that if I was gonna do something with my life, I’d work for you. So, after I saw that you were hosting a tourney, I had to join in and prove myself strong enough to work with/for you Chief. And you know the rest.”
“Well, I can say that you’ve found the right place to be, we’ll be doing some good in this Clan, so I hope that you’ll stick with us through thick and thin.”
“Of course, Chief! Imma be with you from today until the end of the universe, you can trust that” he said as he gave him a small thumbs up.
“I’m glad to have you on board Zeb, you’ll be a real big help going forward. I planned on getting you a weapon at some point, but… it seems you have one” he said as he pointed in the general direction of the bow on his back.
It took a moment for Zeb to realize what his Chief was referring to, but after he did he explained his current weapon situation, “oh the bow! This isn’t a weapon that I actually use, it’s something like a family heirloom, so I just fight with my fists mostly. I could definitely use a weapon though if you could make me one, that’d be really clutch.”
“Yeah, all that will be arranged in the recent future so don’t worry about it, just let me know what kind of weapons you’d be most comfortable using and I’ll get on it. I mean your definitely an amazing close quarter-“
[Partner! You’re receiving a call from Rouge! Should I answer it?]
Meta’s sudden message gave (Y/N) a moment of pause, “Rouge? It seems a little weird for her to call me at a time like this. Yeah Meta, please answer the call. Excuse me a moment Zeb, it seems that something has come up.” (Y/N) then used his short-range teleportation skill to move out from under Scarlet, moving himself to the corner of the room where he could speak semi privately on the phone. Hel quickly took over the conversation with Zeb, not wasting a moment to gather info on what kind of weapon would work well with him. “Yo Rouge what’s up?”
“(Y/N)? Thank god you answered the phone!” Rouge whisper yelled on the other end of the line. “They’re in the store a-a-and their destroying everything! A-a-and I think their stealing stuff a-a-and I-I don’t know what to do!” The woman was absolutely frantic while explaining what was happening, and simultaneously in the background of the call, (Y/N) could hear the shattering of glass and multiple voices yelling in the background.
“Hold on Rouge, calm down. I need you to take a deep breath and explain who ‘they’ are and what ‘they’ are doing. Are you safe?”
“Uhm o-ok” she took a moment to take a deep breath as she heard (Y/N)’s soothing voice to calm herself down slightly. “Ok, I think that there are Xiong men in the store, but I thought that you had already taken everything over so I’m a little scared. I don’t think that they know where I am because I’m in the office, but their making their way through the shop so they’ll eventually find me.”
“Why the fuck are Roman’s men active now? Shouldn’t they be preparing or something? Or maybe… this is them preparing. Don’t worry Rouge, I’m on my way right now, just hang in there and do not hang up the phone ok. I promise you’ll be just fine.”
“O-ok (Y/N), I trust you. I-I’m scared (Y/N). Will they kill me?”
“There is nothing to be afraid of sweetie, they won’t be killing shit once their six feet under.”
At his answer, Rouge couldn’t help but chuckle a little bit, “that’s oddly reassuring.”
“Hang tight Rouge, we’re on our way” he said as he turned to Hel who was talking to Zeb. “Hel we are leaving now! Rouge is in trouble.” Scarlet didn’t question anything and immediately jumped out her seat to grab onto her lover’s arm, prepped to teleport, and Scylla quickly followed after her, jumping into her master’s free arm. “Junior, Mil, Mel, talk with Zeb while were gone. We’ll be back soon enough. Demonic Walk” in that instant he, and his companions began rapidly teleporting at a speed they never have before, as (Y/N) hurriedly made his way through the night lit city of Vale trying to protect an important person to him.
With each teleport, he heard more and more footsteps, crashing of glass, tearing of walls, all through the Scroll that was plastered to his ear, and as he got closer, he heard a sound that pissed him off. Knock, knock, knock… Crash SLAM “(Y/N) their trying to get in! They-they-they know I’m here! W-w-what do I do?”
“Just hide! I’m almost there! These fuckers will PAY FOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING!” In that moment he teleported as far as he could and stopped for an instant to place Hel on the street before he activated some skills “Berserker Mode, Above All, Demonic Speed (Super Sonic), Perfect Control, Beyond The Limit (OD), Humanity’s Encouragement” as fast as he placed Hel on the street, he shot forward at an unbelievable speed, screaming down the street as if he hadn’t been there in the first place.
Scarlet stood alone on the street in a moment silence, before a massive BOOM shot through the streets and a massive shockwave of torrential winds shot through the air, forcefully lifting Scarlet off her feet and sending her flying down the street, landing harshly on the ground. At the same time, the various buildings surrounding Scarlet buckled heavily, and the glass panes in the shop’s fronts creaked heavily, bending inward and outwardly for a moment before they settled. For a moment, Scarlets ears rang before a blissful sensation overcame her body and healed any of the discomfort she felt in that moment. And once she recovered from the disorienting experience, she was left sitting in silence in the middle of the street until she heard a tremendous roar coming from the end of the long road. Undeterred, she immediately got up from the floor and began sprinting down the street as fast as her legs would carry her, trying to reach DTD to ensure her daughters safety.
(Y/N)’s feet carried him at a blinding speed, it was only his mental quickness that allowing him to recognize his surroundings as he flew through the streets. With the Grimm Byakko tucked tightly under his arm, his feet barely touched the ground as he came to an instantaneous stop in front of his desired location. The moment he stopped, the immense momentum that he carried down the street continued, and another massive BOOM shocked through the streets of Vale, and underneath his feet, the ground crumbled into a deep crater that spread cracks through the street like spider webs. (Y/N) stood silently as he watched the windows of the surrounding buildings bend, wobble, and then shatter under the incredible pressure of his sudden presence. “Intimidate, Angered Roar, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING!!!!”
As his tremendous voice echoed throughout the city, the suited men in the now wrecked shop were completely overcome by fear. The shops windows were shattered, revealing 10 men dressed in the traditional Xiong suits and ties on the inside of the store, and every single one of them were stricken by pure terror. As he saw this, he placed Scylla gently on the ground and spoke softly, “none of them leave alive.”
Without even looking back at his partner, he activated Demonic Walk and teleported up to the second floor of the building placing himself in Rouge’s office on the second floor of the building. As she watched her master disappear, Scylla turned her attention to the ones that pissed her master off, and angrily roared at them. “GGGGGGRRRRRRWWWWWWAAAAHHHHHH!” In that moment, the men knew that they were dead, so in a last-ditch effort to survive they dropped the Dust they were carrying and recklessly charged at the large tiger Grimm in hopes that they could miraculously survive the encounter, but they weren’t that lucky. The first suited man that sprinted at Byakko met the best end, as Byakko immediately leaped at him, catching his neck in her massive jaws, and immediately crunching down separating his head from his body and completely removing his neck from existence. As the man’s body was falling to the ground, she leaped off his chest and used her massive claws to slice another approaching man into mincemeat, while simultaneously using her forward momentum to send her spike tail crashing into the skull of another Xiong man, killing him instantly. As the other men saw how quickly their members were dispatched, they were completely paralyzed in fear and in that moment of stasis, the demon beast leaped into action, quickly dispatching all seven of the men using her teeth, claws, tail, and spikes to utterly decimate the men that angered her master. As she was finished, the entire street was covered in blood with the same being said about Byakko who intently cleaned her fur with her tongue, removing the vile blood from her pristine form.
At the same time that this was occurring, The Devil appeared in front of ten men who were moments away from tearing down an office door. As soon as the demon appeared, none of the 10 men that were present even attempted to move. Their breaths stopped in their throats, sweat poured from their bodies, and their hearts completely stopped in their chests. They all simply ceased to exist the moment that the Devil walked in, and they stared at his immensely intimidating form, waiting for the punishment that they were about to receive. “You All Frightened, Scarred, Terrified A Woman That Is Important To Me, And For That All Of You Will Die. That’s Truly Unfortunate, But That Is Simply How The Cookie Crumbles. However, You All Are In Luck” he said in a monotone voice as he walked to the center of the massive group of people. “I Would Take Out My Scythe And Slowly… Mechanically… Periodically…” he spoke incredibly slowly as he paced in between each of the men,” Dismember Each, And Every, Single, Limb, On Each Of Your Bodies In Painstaking Detail,” he said as he continued pacing, “But One, That Would Take A lot Of Time That I Do Not Have, And Two, That Would Make A lot Of Blood That Someone Would Have To Clean Up In This Room. So, Rejoice At Your Luck, You’ll Die Quick And Painfully.” He then quickly rose his hand and spoke a skill into existence, “Merciless.”
As soon as the words were spoken, an immense amount of physical, invisible pressure filled the room as (Y/N)’s mana instantly formed around each of the men. It as if gravity itself had turned on them and chose to converge on their bodies like they were the largest center of mass in the universe. The converging forces continued to push further and further onto their bodies until their bone structures could no longer withstand the massive pressure, and they began crunching, cracking, and molding to accommodate the incoming forces. It began at their feet, crushing their legs up into their pelvises, but once that wasn’t enough what was left of the lower body folded in on itself, crushing the body like a condensing accordion. This process continued until their bodies were crushed completely into small one-inch cubic masses of blackened flesh that soon exploded into a shower of blood that was quickly absorbed into the Devils body, restoring some of the mana that had been draining from his body.

“What the fuck is all this? This never happened before… well I guess I never killed a person before either. But now’s not the time to think about shit like this, I gotta make sure Rouge is alright!” After taking a moment to calm himself down, (Y/N) took off his mask and knocked lightly on the door that led into the small office at the back of the room. “Hey Rouge, it’s me (Y/N), the men are gone. Do you think you could open up?”
After a moment of silence, (Y/N) was able to hear a little bit of rustling before a cutesy, shy voice quietly spoke up, “(Y/N)? Is that really you?”
“Yup!”
“So, all the Xiong guys are gone?”
At her question, (Y/N) instinctively looked behind him to see if any traces of the men he had just irradicated had been left and after he found none he turned back to the door, “yeah their all gone.” The girl behind the locked door remained still for moment, before some more rustling and footsteps could be heard. Then the click of the door unlocking was heard, immediately followed by the door swinging open and a red-haired girl flying into the safety of (Y/N)’s arms. The man immediately began comforting her, rubbing her head gently and whispering sweet words in her ear. “Don’t worry, your safe now. You did a great job” he whispered softly into her ears. After a while of them standing there in the doorway, they heard footstep coming up the stairs, but (Y/N) reassured the girl that it was just Scarlet, and sure enough Scarlet quickly ran up to the girl and wrapped her in a warm hug.
“Are you okay Rouge?”
Rouge let out a few sniffles before she responded with a nod, “yeah, I’m fine Boss woman. I was just a lil scarred when they started banging on the door and stuff, no biggey” she said with a light smile, trying to reassure Scarlet and herself.
“Hey honey, I’ll take it from here, you may want to go back outside and check on Byakko. She’s doing something… uh interesting to say the least.”
“Interesting?” He asked questioningly, wondering what exactly she was talking about. He quickly figured out that it was something she didn’t want to mention in front of Rouge, so he simply nodded to his lover and teleported back outside to see what she was referring to. “Let’s see what is so interesting about… Byakko…” as he took a few steps outside he immediately knew what she was talking about. “Byakko, why are you eating the corpses?”

As she heard her masters voice, the adorable black tiger lifted her head from the inners of one of the various corpses sprawled out in front of the store and instantly bound her way towards him. “Mwrah!” She grumbled adorably as she contacted her master, purring and rubbing herself against his legs in affection.
“I love you too, but why are you chewing on human remains, that can’t be very sanitary” he said as he bent down and gently pet his adorable companion. “Unless Byakko, were you eating the Human essence in their bodies?”
“Mwrah!”
“Oh, you were, that makes a lot more sense. People corpses don’t disappear like Grimm bodies do, so of course Byakko would have to dig through their dead bodies if she wanted to munch on the Essence. So, I guess that also means that Essence functions like Cores and Byakko can assimilate them, but then what would she turn into? And can I use this Essence to make another person in the Beast Tamer menu, probably not, but there’s no reason not to try.” As he thought up his own question and was about to ask Meta to pull up the menu, something completely unexpected caught him fully off guard.
“Hey you! What do you think you’re doing?!?!”

Changing My Life with A Level System
As years went by and Earth evolved into a foreseen futuristic, sci-fi world, everything went through changes; the buildings, vehicles, weapons even the vegetation and animals didn't remain unscathed. Yet one thing stayed the same throughout all history, something indispensable for the human race, something no one could ever think of leaving out in their daily lives and yet being the very cause of human demise, work.During the whole change process not even once was the human work ethic thought of as a problem causing a rise in the demand for entertainment and distraction from the daily routines. Those a new game system called Virtual Reality was created, giving everyone the possibility to fully immerse in other worlds and escaping the trials of life. Bao, threw himself in such a world but without thinking of the consequences of such a deed, for nobody asked themselves, what if life in this virtual world is better than reality and even worse what if the boundaries between the two become indistinct? © 2021 All rights reserved to the author under the pen name Q_Yuumo.

8 146The Legion of Nothing
Nick Klein is your average high school geek--if you can still count as average when your grandfather is a retired superhero, and you've been trained in the martial arts by his friend, a mysterious, immortal mercenary. After his grandfather dies, Nick inherits the last version of the Rocket suit, powered armor that allows him to shrug off bullets, smash through walls, and manipulate sound. Along with it comes the base of his grandfather's superhero team including the team's jet and trophies from forty years of fighting criminals and aliens. Together, Nick and his friends, descendants of his grandfather's teammates, attempt to bring back a superhero team that was originally formed during World War 2. Along the way they'll face the normal problems of high school (bullies, homework, and dating), and the less normal problems like supervillians and mysteries leftover from their grandparents' past. As a story, it uses the conventions of all eras of comics from the 1940s on, ranging from serious to silly. If you're hoping for a grim and gritty story, this isn't it. The Legion of Nothing first debuted on my website legionofnothing.com in 2007. In that period it's updated more than 900 times, is still running, and has had millions of pageviews. The first two years have been released as an ebook, receiving good reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. I hope you'll enjoy it, and that you'll review it and comment. You can also vote for it on Top Web Fiction and rate it on Web Fiction Guide. Member of The Order of Phantasmal Architects.
