《The Awakened One, Book 1: Remnant》Chapter 28: Jacques Schnee

The group of lovers stayed in the embrace of one another for a while, simply enjoying the warmth and comfort that they provided each other. After a bit longer, the group collectively decided to break the hug, but they decided to remain in the room for the rest of their day. The group spent the rest of the day training, as (Y/N) used his skills to restore the girls Aura’s, much to the surprise of their new lover Glynda, but just like the rest, she simply smiled and said that she knew that her love was special in some way. While training with Glynda all day and finally being able to put his skills and abilities to use, (Y/N) was able to make massive improvements upon his own strength. On top of that, he had a little surprise waiting for him at the end of their little training session.

[(Y/N)! Meta has been hiding all non-combat related alerts since you’ve been training so hard! Would you like to see them all now?]

“Meta, you already know the answer to that question, of course. You know you really don’t have to hide them in the first place, right?” (Y/N) thought as he finished up recovering the Aura of his lovers after the long training session.

[Meta understands! Meta hides alerts during battle and training because Meta doesn’t want you to get distracted and hurt yourself! But if you don’t want Meta to do so, Meta won’t]

The man couldn’t help but swoon slightly at his partners response, “awe, Meta you’re such a sweetheart! If you’re that worried about me getting hurt then I’ll oblige your request, but can you just pull up all the alerts as soon as you determine I’m safe enough to do so?”

[Of course, Partner!]

“This automatic quest thing is pretty clutch, but it doesn’t seem as though there are many basic acceptable ones.” As (Y/N) continued to search through his newly leveled up skills and the abilities that they granted him, he noticed how the vast majority of his physical skills had leveled up at least one time. With the obvious exception being his many magical skills, as he had yet to test and utilize them in combat on Remnant. “Overall, this was an amazing improvement over simply training to help strengthen the girls, as we all were able to improve rather than it just being them. They even started to get the hang of Aura Sensing and concealing which will probably help them out a lot in the long run” he thought at he watched the woman converse with one another.

As the talking began coming close to an end, (Y/N), Nix, Neyah, and Pyrrha stood up from the ground in preparation to head back to their room for the night. “Are you sure you don’t want to join us for the night Glynda?” Nix innocently asked the mature woman.

“I would love to, but unfortunately there are still somethings that I have to attend to, so I’ll have to decline. I’ll definitely take you all up on your offer at a later time, more than likely once this situation with the headmaster calms down” she said. As they trained during the day, the girls had been fully updated on the current situation between their lover and the headmaster, and even (Y/N)’s supposed nighttime activities. None of them truly knew exactly what was going on and that fact irked Glynda a lot more than the younger woman, but she accepted that her love had his secrets and knew that he would tell them once he was comfortable relieving that information.

“Damn that sucks, but I guess we’ll be seeing you later Glynda” Neyah said to the woman.

“I can’t wait to learn more from you later Miss Glynda, this session proved to be very fruitful for all of us” Pyrrha exclaimed.

Glynda smiled at the girls’ responses, “surprisingly, I find that I learned something from you all as well. Hopefully we can continue these little sessions to help you all grow much stronger for the tournament later this summer” she said as she chuckled slightly.

“See yah Glynda” (Y/N) said as he exited from his thoughts and began walking towards the exit with his other lovers.

“I’ll be seeing you my love, please take it easy on your little excursions, and remember to come to me if you ever need a rest.”

“I will!” As the words left his mouth, the group, with Byakko in (Y/N)’s arms, leaped out of the arena and exited the room. The group of lovers rushed back to their room to begin some of their nighttime activities and as they finished up the girls laid out of breath, cuddling tightly to their man’s warm body.

As Pyrrha slowly began catching her breath, laying atop his chest, she looked into her Hubby’s eyes and asked him a question. “Hubby,” she began, getting his attention, “are you leaving again tonight?” The sudden question caught (Y/N) off guard a little bit, and it also got the attention of the other half naked girls present as they wanted to know the answer to his question as well.

“Yeah, I have to, there is a lot of things that I still have to get done before I can rest up some more. Trust me, I’m doing this not only for you all, but also for the survival of the rest of Remnant as a whole” he whispered in response to his lovers.

Neyah then decided to speak up as she cuddled closer into her Darling’s embrace, “I know your gonna say no, but don’t you think that we could come with you? Even though we don’t know what you're doing, I think that we could help you. At least, we could help keep you safe and stuff” she whispered softly into his ear.

(Y/N) took a moment to think about their proposition, “it's not exactly too dangerous, but having them around me at night all the time would probably fuck up their performance at the academy, and plus having this many companions not privy to the underworld would be more of a hinderance than a help.” As if sensing her Baby’s internal conflict, Nix chose to join into the conversation at that moment.

“I believe that we should allow (Y/N) to do what he is required to do, I’m sure that he would include us whenever he feels necessary. The only reason he hasn’t so far is because he’s looking out for our safety, and we’d more than likely be more of a hindrance than a help.” At Nix’s explanation, the other lovers chose to let the topic go as they felt in their hearts that their sister in love was correct. However, that fact didn’t stop the worry from forming in their hearts.

“Be safe Hubby/Don’t get hurt Darling” whispered Pyrrha and Neyah as they eased back into their lovers embrace.

“I’ll be fine, just make sure you all get some good sleep. Neyah, you still have 4 more opponents to destroy tomorrow, and you two must rest your vocal cords cuz there will be a ton of cheering that gotta be done.” The girls laughed at their man’s little joke as they snuggled even deeper into his naked embrace. “As always, I’ll stay with you all until your deeply asleep, so feel free to fall asleep at your own discretion. Goodnight you little worrywarts.”

“Goodnight Hubby/Night Darling/Safe travels Baby” at their final goodnights, the girls clung heavily onto (Y/N)’s warm body, fighting sleep for every moment they could, but eventually their man’s warm, comforting scent and body overtook them, and they drifted back into a deep, comforting slumber.

(Y/N) allowed himself to be cuddled by the woman for a while after they had fallen asleep, but after about an hour of the embrace he decided it was time for him to leave. Following his usual routine, he called off from his sleeping shift, and teleported out of place, leaving the girls cuddling his perfect clone. Since the clone had since leveled up, he gave it the order to cuddle and never let go of the woman that clung onto his body even as he left their embrace. Even as he put his clothes back on, he could still feel the tingly sensation of Nix and Neyah’s soft breaths on his neck and ear, and the soft mounds of Pyrrha’s breasts on his chest. It was like an odd reminder of what pleasures he got to return to at the end of every night and he was thankful to this ability for it.

As he finished silently redressing, Byakko hopped back into his arms and him and his furry companion teleported out of the room as they usual did at night. Tonight, he found that there was no surprise visit from the good witch, so he traveled unbothered across the campus and into the city. As he opened his mental map, he noticed that Scarlet was completely absent from her establishment, so he skipped the store and headed to Junior’s instead. As he teleported from roof to roof, he turned his appearance back to the Reaper’s and he watched as Byakko did the same. “I wonder if we’re gonna end up changing the name of the Club, I mean Junior’s is a staple nightlife establishment, but Junior doesn’t exactly run the place anymore.” This was one of the thoughts he allowed to linger in his mind as he reached the large club, and swiftly teleported inside.

The moment he entered; he was greeted with an interesting view. Scarlet in her Hel garb was sitting behind the large glass desk with 4 large holographic screens active, completely surrounding the top of the desk. In front of the glass desk was a different chair layout from how it was the night before, as three seats of the same design as the others, were now in a half circle facing the desk with a small, knee level, black marble coffee table in the center of the three-chair formation. In each of these new chairs were, from left to right, Mel, Mil, and Junior. And each of the chairs were of different designs, Mel’s was pure white with icy, light blue, lacey designs across it, Mil’s chair was bright red with black designs across it and a large black bow ribband on its back, and Junior’s was the same chair that he sat in when (Y/N) sliced his arm off. Speaking of Junior, he already got his prosthetic replacement, and it was showing from his cut, short sleeved, left arm. Each of the chairs had black circles on the bottom of them, allowing the chairs to spin and turn at their will.

As soon as he entered, his presence was immediately acknowledged by Junior, who stood up and bowed to the boss man. “Welcome back Boss!” he announced as (Y/N) entered into the office.

His sudden announcement brought the attention of the other woman present onto him, and once the twins noticed he appeared, they immediately leaped from their new seats and clobbered him with hugs. “OMG Bro/Hey Bro!” Scylla immediately leaped from his arms as the girls surrounded him in their arms, forcing him into a warm hug. Hel also looked up from her work and stood from her desk to join in on the embrace.

“Welcome back Honey, I missed you!” The Devil returned the girls hugs with one of his own, but after a moment of affection, he broke the embrace and turned to his partner.

“I missed you too,” he began “but why are you still here? Did you even leave?” As he whispered the question to his mistress, she couldn’t help but smile through her mask.

“Of course, I didn’t leave Hon, how could I when such a major development has happened. Don’t worry I did get some rest throughout the day, so tiredness is a non-issue.”

Inside his mind, (Y/N) looked questioningly at the woman, but on the exterior, he displayed no emotional change. “What is this, ‘Major Development’ that you’re talking about?” As the words left his mouth, Hel grabbed onto his hand and dragged him behind his desk, much to the dismay of the twins who chose to sit back down in their chairs and await the exposition.

“Sit” Hel said as they reached the back of the desk, and as (Y/N) sat down, Scarlet immediately followed suit, sitting in his lap. “I knew that you were insanely smart, but even I underestimated your ability to think this far ahead” she said as she pulled up the screens yet again. “The reason I was unable to leave the office was because after you left, we were contacted by a little company by the name of Schnee!” As soon as she said it the gears in the Devil’s mind began moving, and the dots immediately began connected in his head.

“The Schnee Company already called about a Dust offer?” He asked the woman that sat comfortably on his lap, and to his surprise she immediately lit up in joy.

“Exactly! Who would’ve thought that you orchestrated all of this so precisely! Sending the cards to get businesses attention, paying them for their Dust so they don’t feel the need to report it as stolen and claim insurance, giving the owners more Lien than the retail value as an incentive to immediately deposit the money in a personal account instead of electronically paying so the Schnee’s can’t take a premium, and taking over most of the Xiong Family crime syndicate all in a single night, all to force the Schnee corporation into negotiating a deal with you out of fear that you’ll continue to cause their profits to dwindle by out biding them in the local Dust markets! So, this is what you meant when you said don’t worry about the Dust for the tournament’s rewards! After making a deal like this you’ll be able to substantially increase the strength of the organization, making even the weakest members much stronger.” As she finished her incredibly ecstatic explanation, all the eyes in the room were completely on her and the twins and Junior jumped out of their seats with fantastical gleams in their eyes.

“Oh my god! Like I knew you were like, super strong, and like super smart, but I didn’t know you were like super ultra-smart!”

“I know right! Bro is probably the most smartest guy on the planet or something!”

“As expected of the Boss, your intellect far surpasses ours!” As the trio of companions finished their sudden bouts of praise, all the attention fell back on the Devil.

“I mean... I didn’t really plan all that specifically and I definitely didn’t think that the richest, most powerful organization would react this fast to me fuckin around in Vale, but I guess they are really about their paper. Thanks for all the praise, but I really didn’t do anything that great honestly, I got very lucky so all the credit shouldn’t go to me. If anything, you all have done much more impressive, noteworthy things in the short amount of time I’ve been working with you, so you should probably applaud yourselves if anyone” the Devil said as he waved off the praise.

“No need to be so humble Hon, you have truly done something amazing! And because of your amazing intelligence, the Schnee Company contacted us earlier” Hel said as she began navigating her way through the computer.

“So, how’d that conversation go?”

At the question, Scarlet took a moment to pull up the messages that she they had received from the large corporation, “well, the exchange was… interesting to say the least” as she began, her mood dampened slightly. “We initially received a message directly from the corporation alerting us that they wanted to have a meeting about the current state of Dust affairs in Vale, and in this message, they gave us some contact information that we should contact whenever we wished to begin the meeting. So, I naturally contacted the number to begin introducing ourselves and establish terns for negotiations, but I was met with a secretary who, after I introduced myself, refused to let me through to the Schnee’s.” At the comment, a questioning look found its way into the Devil’s mind, but he chose to stay quiet and continue listening to his woman’s explanation.

“After a few threats of violence and things of that nature, the lady finally patched me through to Mr. Schnee. The first thing he said was that he refused to speak with a secretary, and that he would only speak with the head of the organization. I, of course, screamed aggressively at the prick telling him that we are equals, but he refused to hear any of it. He essentially said in very crude language that he wasn’t going to negotiate with an assistant, and before hanging up, he said to call him back once ‘the headman is available.’” As she finished her story, her hands were clenched into fists, and she shook with anger. (Y/N) immediately went to comfort the woman, gently rubbing her back and shoulders to calm her down.

“Oh, so, he’s a piece of shit” (Y/N) said matter of factly. “Can’t say I didn’t expect that much, but that disrespect won’t last much longer, I promise” as he finished comforting the woman, she calmed down completely, and snuggled into his touch. “Before we get started with this whole Schnee business, can you all update me on our current situation? Junior, has there been any updates on Roman and Cinder’s activities?”

At his boss’s question, Junior perked up slightly and readjusted his seating position, “uhm yes boss. There has been a sudden increase in noise surrounding the incoming shipments of Dust from offshore companies, more specifically the SDC (Schnee Dust Company). I suppose this factors into your plan as well, so I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that a massive influx in Dust will be shipped into Vale this upcoming week. Apparently, the SDC had a massive backlog of shipments, causing them to be slower on the pick-up and drop-off. Basically, there’s a massive shipyard filled to the brim with Dust that the SDC keeps filling and can’t move due to the amount orders they’ve taken.” As he finished with that segment of his explanation, an imaginary light bulb lit up in Melanie’s head as things began to click.

“Oh my god! So, like, when Bro bought all the Dust from the, like, normal people, they kept ordering more which fucked with the SDC!”

The moment her sister began speaking, Miltia’s lightbulb went off as well, “right! Since they kept over ordering shit, everything with the SDC got messed up which is what caused the back-up in the first place! Bro is the reason that all this is happening! Bro is amazingly smart!”

The gears in the trio’s minds were now turning, spinning at maximum speed, and Junior soon caught up to speed on everything that the Devil had done thus far. “All that is incredible, but that’s not even the most impressive part” as the words left Junior’s mouth, the twin’s full attention had fell onto him. “As I was saying, by the end of this week the shipyard is going to be packed to the brim with Dust that will be ripe for the taking. The defensive measures would be insane since it’s the SDC’s Dust, but if someone was able to, somehow, take all that Dust, they’d easily be able to finance and strengthen an entire army of soldiers.” Junior then looked up to face his Boss, “I am sure you know where I’m going with this Boss, there is a man who’d most definitely risk it all to get his hands on that Dust.”

Everything immediately clicked in the twin’s minds as Junior finished his debriefing, “Roman/Torchwick!” The girls spat out the name as if it was a toxic substance that needed to be released.

“Exactly” Junior began again, “this is the move that Roman has been planning to make all this time, and the Boss somehow set it all up in a single night, with a single move. Roman has always wanted to break away from my influence in the family, I don’t know why I was so blind to that fact before. Boss, I’m glad that you opened my eyes to Roman’s true goal” Junior bowed to his boss in appreciation before he continued. “Roman will be making a move at the imported Dust, and he will only make his move once the shipyard is completely full so he can maximize his profit. I don’t know if Cinder will be there, but Roman will.”

His words floated in the air for a moment, as everyone allowed the information to sink in. Hel was the first one to break the silence, “Honey, you truly are remarkable. Everything thus far has been swirling in the palm of your hand, and I now see that all of your actions are inconceivably calculated. Starting an in-family tournament was not only to identify the strong and better organize the members, but also to find those that are loyal and are willing to work hard to achieve results.” At Hels sudden epiphany, the trio sitting in their custom chairs suddenly became a little confused, and Mil was the one to voice her confusion.

“Like, how?”

Mil’s question made Hel chuckle a little bit, “it’s pretty simple actually. Roman cannot make a move on the SDC’s Dust without help, and he will need a lot of it. So, he will essentially be advertising this ‘job’ to any and all that will listen, promising them tons of Dust in return for their efforts. This invites strangers who are only loyal to money and power onto Roman’s side, who will only assist him with the promise of money. My Honey on the other hand is holding a tourney which will only grant the ones that proves themselves worthy with strengthening Dust, and any of those that stay without receiving any rewards are proven to be incredibly loyal. In other words, after this event we will truly know who is loyal and who is not. I suppose that Juniors estimate will be very, very far from the truth after Roman makes his move.” As the Mistress finished her explanation, the twins looked at the pair of lovers in awe, completely enamored by their intelligence and understanding of one another.

Hel then continued, “starting a civil war to weed out the bad apples and reward those that are loyal. While forcing Roman to make a dangerous move that’ll put him in a position where you can easily end him and put us in control of all the SDC Dust. From there, anything is possible.”

Junior kept his awe on the inside as he looked to his superiors, “Boss, Mistress, what should we do to prepare?”

As the duo heard his question, they looked at one another for a moment and then turned back to Junior. (Y/N) was the first to voice his orders, “there isn’t much you can do in this scenario. However, I need you to determine the exact date and time Roman will possibly make the move on the shipment, I will handle the rest while I’m there. The other thing that needs to be done is ensuring that the tournament will be completed by that date. This step is essential to ensuring the loyalty of those that will be in our new, refined family.”

Hel then quickly followed up after her Honey, “I’ll give you more specific instructions on how to accomplish this later, but for now simply follow my Honey’s orders should suffice” as Hel finished her orders to the large man, Junior bowed in acceptance.

This reaction prompted the Devil to turn his attention back to his lady, “I believe that takes care the basic business that needed to be address and anything else we need to discuss can be done later. So, let’s hurry up and get this bullshit meeting over with, Hel would you please contact the Asshole?”

“Of course, Hon” as she spoke, she began tapping keys on the computer yet again, and as she finished up the lights in the room dimmed slightly. The call sound didn’t last long as it was immediately picked up by a sweet-sounding woman on the other line.

“Hello, you have reached Master Schnee’s personal obligations office, how may I help you today, Sir?”

“Get Me Jacques. Now.” The instant the command left his mouth, the woman on the other line went silent for a moment.

Her breath hitched in her throat and fear shot through her body, “y-yes s-s-sir, I’ll t-transfer you through i-i-immediately!” She yelled the comment nervously as she scrambled to patch the demon through to her boss.

Hel stood from her position on her man’s lap, moved to stand tall by his red chair, and stood with her hand gently placed on her Honey’s shoulder. She did all this to appear more professionally while also showing her power over the others in the room, representing herself in manner fit for someone of her position. The others in the room followed suit, Miltia, Melanie, and Junior all turned their chairs to face the large screen, centering them all in frame. The group waited patiently for the man to appear on the screen, and they didn’t have to wait much longer, a moment later a pale white man sat before them. Sitting pompously in a brown, leathery seat was an older man in a white suit with a glass of red wine place next to him. The moment he appeared; his face turned from stoic to fearful as he looked at the intimidating figures in the room.

After taking a moment to recover from the shock, he began to speak “Ha, you name truly does proceed you Sir Devil” he said with a nervous smile.

At his small, jokey comment, no one in the room reacted in the slightest. The comment rang awkwardly in the silent air before the Devil grimaced behind his mask and leaned in forward to respond. “Jacques Schnee” was all the Devil said, but the words spoke wonders to those present. The tone in which he said the name was so demeaning and toxic that it was almost as if the name itself was a slur, or curse of some kind. Jacques reeled backwards slightly as he heard the Devils rumbling voice, but he attempted to recover by shakily taking a sip of his wine.

As he finished his shaky sip, and wiped his pasty lips with a white cloth, he recovered enough to begin talks with the demon in front of him. “Now, I have to say, it is very impressive of you to conquer the strong Xiong Family in a single night! You were even capable enough to get my attention” he finished with an arrogant grin.

“Do Not Try To Butter Me Up Jacques. If We Are Going To Talk Business, Let Us Talk Business” At the Devil’s comment, the Schnee couldn’t help but flinch at the way the hooligan addressed him.

The fear that lingered in his mind immediately left, and it was quickly replaced by irritation and anger, but in this moment, he recognized that appearances were important, so he approached the topic ‘softly.’ “Uhm, Sir Devil, I know that you are probably not familiar with proper business practices and general formality, so allow me to give you a quick lesson.” As the comment slipped through his lips, he was immediately glared at by the rest of the individuals in the room, but he ignored the looks and continued. After quickly clearing his throat he continued, “when addressing ‘other’ powerful individuals, it is proper to use their associated title. Since you are the leader of a strong organization, to show my respect I address you as Sir. I am the Master of the most powerful and wealthy company, in the most powerful and wealthy country in all of Remnant. I am a Schnee, not only that but I am also the Head of this family so I am THE Schnee, and you will address me as such!“

Towards the end of his explanation, his anger got the best of him, and he elevated his voice far beyond what was appropriate for this exchange. He quickly recognized this and cleared his throat and took a sip of his wine to calm himself down, “Excuse me.” He then continued, “you may address me as Master Schnee and only Master Schnee. Usually if someone addressed me like you have, I would immediately punish them as I see fit, but seeing as you probably do not know better and I am in a good mood, I’ll let it slide this time.”

After he finished blabbering, the Devil’s office was completely silent and everyone in the rooms anger had peaked. However, they all knew better than to openly react, so instead they internalized their anger and waited for their Boss/Honey to respond to the disrespectful comments. The Devil sat comfortably in his chair for a moment, allowing the words that he had just heard to sink in, and after that moment of calm the Devils, posture shifted slightly. His head slowly tilted one way and then back the other, gaining the undivided attention of everyone present.

After this eerie movement, the Devil lightly glid his hands across the glass desk and used them to push his chair backwards and steadily creep up to his full height. As he stood up, he leisurely stepped passed his lovely partner and ominously made his way towards the massive screen where Jacques was patiently waiting eagerly for his response. The Devil stood centered on the screen in silence, staring down the pompous piece of shit that sat before him. The silence rang loudly through the room as the tension rose between the ‘two’ powerful individuals, and as the tension had reached its peak The Devil made his move. “Jacques.” The Devil spat out the name with toxicity and in response, the Schnee opened his mouth to speak, but before a single word could reach his mouth, all of his bodily functions ceased as the figure in front of him suddenly took on the full aura of the Devil himself.

“Intimidation. I Don’t Know Who You Think You Are Jacques, But Allow Me To Remind You Of Your Place When You Are In Front Of Me. You Are Nothing But A Tool, A Stepping Stone I Step On To Climb Towards My Ultimate Goals.” The Schnee couldn’t help but be paralyzed in fear as he listened to the Devil speak. He had never experienced such an overwhelming feeling of pure terror before, and in response to the horror all he could do was listen. “I Have No Respect For You, Nor Do I View You As a Powerful Individual. Jacques, You Are Trash That Has Been Handed Everything On A Silver Platter. You Are Nothing. You Are Lucky That I Even Address You By Name.”

As he continued to listen to the Devil’s deliverance, unbridled rage built up in his heart, quickly replacing the terror that he was feeling. The rage that he felt far surpassed the fear of possible death and that feeling carried him to harshly slam his fists against his wooden desk. The sudden strike sent a loud boom through the room he was in, and the sound even echoed through the speakers that surrounded the Devils office, and it caused his red wine to spill over, pouring all over the desk. In his blinding rage, he completely ignored the effects of his attack, “listen here you HOOLIGAN! You wanna be GANGSTER! I am THE Schnee! And You will respect me for the great things I have accomplished! You are the one who is nothing! The only reason I even bothered to contact a nobody like you is because of the minor inconvenience that you caused me in Vale! Remember that. You need me! Not the other way around! I AM IN CONTROL!”

As he finished erupting at the gangster, the Devil remained completely calm, being almost unreactive to the Schnee’s sudden sermon. Instead, he leisurely walked back to his chair, sat down, and pulled his mistress back into his lap which surprised her slightly. He then looked directly into the nobody’s eyes and spoke, “Apologize.”

As he heard the word that the Devil had spoken, Jacques couldn’t help but feel fearful, but the fear was smothered by anger, “what the fuck are you talking about?!?! I, Jacques Schnee, do not apologize! For I have never done anything wrong!” He yelled his response, trying to hold onto whatever pompous dignity he held so near and dear to his heart.

At his question, the group in the Devil’s office remained icily calm and the Devil himself chose to speak up to answer the frantic man’s question. “You Will Apologize To Hel, My Women, Immediately For The Disrespect You Showed Her Earlier. Or Else.” The Devil’s tone of voice demanded obedience, but the Schnee’s anger far surpassed reasonability.

The rage filled man looked around the room before his eyes quickly settled on the woman in red that “Why the fuck would I need to apologize to that bitch of a cock sleeve! I refuse to converse with a woman that is less than, I barely even decided to approach you!” The more he spoke, the angrier the people in the room became. It was becoming more and more difficult for (Y/N) to remain calm and in control as he began shaking furiously with anger. The woman on his lap noticed his apparent anger and gently stroked his thigh in order to calm him down, and the comforting action worked, allowing him to pay attention to the lunatic in front of him. “And then you say or else. Or else what? Clearly you don’t fucking listen, so allow me to remind you, I am in control! You need me!”

After the Schnee’s monologue, he was left completely out of breath, deeply inhaling, and exhaling in order to catch is breath and retain his stature. The Devil on the other hand appeared completely calm, and the only sign of response that he gave was a sudden exhale of breath. “I Don’t Know Where You Got The Idea That I Need You Because That Is Simply False Information. I Don’t Need You For Anything.” The Devil’s response to Jacque’s outburst made his face scrunch up in irritation, “Since You Refuse To Apologize And Give My Woman The Respect That She Deserves As My Equal, I No Longer See Any Use For Your Existence. Goodbye Jacques, The Next Time We Meet, I Will Remove Your Head From Your Body.” As soon as the words left his mouth, Hel ended the call, leaving Jacques alone in his office once more.

After a long moment of empty silence, a single thought had made its way into Jacques’s mind. “Did that plebian just threaten me?” He stared at the ceiling as he thought. The Devil had clearly just threatened to kill him, but for some reason it didn’t feel as if he had been threatened at all. Instead, it felt as though that man had simply told him his future, what was fated to occur. Not a threat. Not a promise. The truth.
