《Gaming on a MUD is difficult.》Ch.20 Street Light

All the thieves in the land suddenly wonder where Isaiah’s corpse might be found!
Again, the death cutscene rolled down the screen. Only this time there was a rather rude addition.
Bane says: “Would you be interested in the frequent diers program?”
Bane grins evilly.
Isaiah tried to say “Yes” but all that came out was.
You wail miserably.
Eventually the now-familiar death cutscene was over and the choice of which church to go back to presented itself. There were 3 places he did know: Shadow, Tharis and Azha. There were other places he had no idea where they were. Attaya? Graez? The exit back to life was one way. If he went to a place he had no idea how to get to, the only way to get back was an intentional death.
Isaiah chose Shadow city and prayed at the empty church. His character actually lost a level in each class this time.
6/5 Fighter / mage was his class and levels. His hit point max was down to 40 now too. Isaiah took a few minutes to use the ‘heal’ command to get his HP back up to max. He needed to head south back to Tharis and see how he would go about getting his corpse back from the slime that perma-stunned him and dissolved him 1hp at a time.
Isaiah continued south, no money, no gear, inventory completely empty. He left out of shadow’s south gate and followed the path where it branched to the Rhapsody Inn and then to further south to Tharis. There was a familiar elf standing in the room.
Kaarell looks you over.
Kaarell says: “Isaiah, why are you naked?”
Isaiah frowns.
Isaiah says: “. . . mistakes were made.”
Kaarell says: “Oh?”
Isaiah sighs sadly.
Isaiah says: “Well, I was shopping for components and ran into a couple of unexpected encounters.”

Kaarell hmms and nods.
Isaiah says: “There was this turban wearing guy named Al-Radin in Azha and I found out the hard way he doesn’t like people looking him over.”
Kaarell says: “Yes, you’ll find some of our adventuring peers feel the same way. A number of thieves look someone over to see if they have anything they want to steal.”
Isaiah says: “Those thieves, the same that have the backstab?”
Kaarell nods.
Karrell says: “Yes an evil enough thief will just hide in the shadows and backstab their victim if they want all of their things. Why steal if they can take everything from your corpse?”
Isaiah sighs.
Isaiah says: “I’ve been on the receiving end of one of those thieves’ daggers.”
Kaarrell sighs.
Kaarrell says: “Haven’t we all? Evils are just that, evil.”
Kaarell says: “As much as I enjoy sitting here talking on the street with a naked elf I feel that you might need aid given your lack of clothing. Perhaps I might help.”
Isaiah blushes.
Isaiah says: “I… um.. apologize for my nakedness. I was headed back to Tharis sewers in hopes that there is something left of my corpse that the slime has not consumed.”
Kaarrell says: “I can’t imagine it would be a good idea to risk that cube’s paralysis attack again. You might just be waking up in a church again.”
Isaiah frowns.
Isaiah says: “What other choice do I have?
Kaarell says: “Let me show you a bit of Lathander’s power cousin.”
You have been invited to follow Kaarell.
>Isaiah’s player typed ‘follow kaarell’.
You are now following Kaarell.
Isaiah followed Kaarrell north and stopped in the first room on the city.
Isaiah says: “I don’t think we are going the right way.”

Kaarell says: “Just watch.”
Karrell studies his environment and raises his head chanting some prayer!
You see the power of Kaarell’s god flow forth into the room!
You see street light start to move and come to life!
Isaiah blinks in disbelief.
Street light bows.
Street light says: “Lets sneak into Tharis sewers and get you your corpse back.!”
Isaiah nods to street light.
The three of them (Counting the street light) headed back south to Tharis and used the sewer entrance to the sewer. They went a couple rooms in until there was a straight shot for the ‘peer’ command to see the ‘partly decayed corpse of Isaiah’ that was in the same room with a Gelatinous cube.
Kaarell had the street light leave and commanded it to pick up the corpse. A few moments later it dropped the decayed corpse in front of the two of them. Isaiah grabbed his things from the corpse and buried it using the ‘bury’ command. How someone could bury a corpse in a flooded sewer was a bit hard to picture. However it could be done. Isaiah’s player didn’t think about it too hard.
Kaarell says: “Are you missing anything?”
Isaiah shakes his head.
Isaiah says: “No it looks like everything is still there.”
Kaarell sighs in relief.
Kaarell says: “Let's get out of Tharis, this town is not a good place for elves.”
Isaiah agrees with Kaarell.
Isaiah followed kaarell back north to the room outside the Rhapsody inn.
Kaarrell has ditched you and you stop following him.
Kaarell says: “Well I need to go meet someone. Stay safe out there Isaiah. And remember the farther away from shadow you go generally the more dangerous things get.”
Isaiah nods.
Isaiah thanks Kaarell.
Isaiah says: “Again thank you so much for your help Kaarell you and Light have been such a big help to me.”
Kaarell smiles and waves.
Kaarell leaves north.

Heart of Cultivation
Book one is now available for purchase or download through Kindle Unlimited! Jian was a prodigy, at least until he discovered that his path of cultivation had hit a dead end almost as soon as it began. That was all years ago, though. He has long since resigned himself to his fate and prepared himself for a dull, ordinary, but happy life. Stunted cultivation or no, he's clever enough to carve out his own comfortable niche. Unfortunately, not all of the matters from his past have been settled. When a reckless mistake threatens to cost him everything, Jian will have to prove that he's desperate enough to rise to the occasion. Or that he's capable of avoiding the consequences. This is an affectionate reconstruction of the xianxia genre. I will be deploying the tropes from the genre that I enjoy in a framework that I think makes sense. The story updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sometimes other days.

The Trespasser
Synopsis Following his di—instincts, David finds himself in a weird situation; the next thing he knows, he's in a different world, dying, and manhandled by a big-ass alien. When the Source comes to his aid, granting him the access that—like every other sapient—he's due, David barely manages to get out of the fight with his life intact, but is that enough? Of course it isn't. The very Source giving him powers is also poisoning him to death. Oh, there she is, the petite female alien. Will that be enough to save him? Of course it won't. If he wants to be saved, he has first to save himself. The only way to do so is by getting to know the world around him, but even before that... Why the bloody hell did I have to be called Deviant!? *** Blurb? Blurb. The Trespasser starts slowly, I believe I've written a decent world, and I want you to find out what it's all about, won't just throw it in your face because of *levels*. I do not like stories that don't make sense. David is not a murderhobo, he respects life and answers to the world and the weird situations thrown at him with irony and sarcasm; so you are looking for easy killing streaks, you will not find them here. So, a man finds himself into the wild? It's a different world, and yet he can breathe its air? Finds himself in a lucky-low-level zone? Oh, look at that, people speak English—how likely is that? So, nope, not for me, gentleman. You won't find anything of the likes here. Again, a man finds himself in a new world but only thinks about the system? Yeah, that's not exactly how it works. David will try to find out what it's really all about, what the aliens want, how they work, why is that Fay really helping him? You can kill somebody to get levels, and yet there is not even a form of police? Not gonna happen here. Man becomes suddenly overpowered in a world where people can live for thousands of years by having enough luck to face only lower-level people? Hahaha—nope. Lastly...Spaceships and fantasy with LitRPG... say what!? Well, what's wrong with that? Let's make it happen, shall we? *** You want even more info? Really? Alright... David will start from the very bottom of the food chain, so there will be a settling arc—it's inevitable. David will find true companions, with personalities and backstories, and they will have a life of their own. There will be enemies, and those enemies will have a life of their own, too; there will be no evil just because. The world-building will have true depth; it will not exist just because the protagonist visits it. There will be both Fantasy and (Soft) Sci-fi—yeah, you heard that right. There will be rationality to every action taken, as long as the characters are aware of what is going on. There will be a godly system. You will come to read because of the world-building, but you will stay for the characters. The dead stay dead, and you will weep for them. There will be no action without a reaction. Lastly, there will be laughs. Are you still up for it? Then get in but fasten your seatbelts because it's going to be a wild ride. *** Release Days: Twice a week Release Time: ~09:00 PM UTC Words per chapter: ~3000 This web novel is also available on other platforms.

Permanight (Hiatus)
The world of Mecc has fallen into permanent night. Monsters roam the countryside, the sun refuses to rise, and towns and cities alike are falling into disarray. Their only hope is the ancient prophecy, which says a hero of light will emerge to save humanity in their darkest hour... 20 years from now. Too little, too late for those living now. In the midst of the the apocalypse, college student Oscar McAllister finds himself out of a job and out of luck. After accidentally ending up slaying a daemon on his way to get the groceries however, Oscar is haplessly drawn into the world of adventuring and questing, and with the old world falling apart - Oscar becomes one of the many tasked with trying to hold everything together. As he fights however, he is forced to face not just the evil that lurks in the shadows: but the indifference that lurks in people’s hearts. The world is playing a waiting game with human lives, and Oscar is caught right in the middle of it. Note: This is a dark LitRPG story, with dungeons, levelling, and quests in a contemporary setting. Permanight is currently on hiatus while I prepare a rewrite based on the current feedback I've recieved. I'm sorry for the bad news, but I want to bring the world to life in a way that feels real, and at the moment - I'm not entirely convinced that I'm doing that.
