《Rubik’s Man: I’m Rich & You’re Dead》Chapter 23 - Girlfriend Killer!

‘Boom!’ My bare fist exploded a large chunk of the concrete wall. The dust particles that formed scattered everywhere and almost got into my eyes.
“Wow! That was amazing, Smoke Pac!” Himeko came by my side to offer her input on my destructive physical abilities. “We should try a bigger target.” She started pointing to a thicker wall frame close by.
We were at a partially demolished structure not too far from where Himeko’s flat was. We’ve been there for roughly 40 minutes testing out the Rubik’s Cube System’s power. I discovered that a percentage of my Blood Bank depleted with every use of my abilities. But thanks to the attributes of the Strongest Chest Opener Title, I didn’t have to be much concerned about finding another victim to replenish my health soon.
With my increased agility, I could run up walls longer without falling over. Additionally, due to my stamina being 8% above average, my exhaustion threshold was very high.
Another thing I learned was the use of Skill Points. I had 65 in total. They could be spent in the Rubik’s Store to purchase upgrades and miscellaneous items. Only the products in the first tier were currently unlocked, the other tiers were off-limits until a certain condition was met.
I browsed through the first tier for a list of items I could afford. While doing so I came across an array of killer weapons and abilities as well as their special effects.
--Rubik’s Store--
Tier 1:
Shatter Grenade Creates a 9metre square explosion that fragments solid matter into triangular polygons.
Dinosaur Shotgun A psychopath’s ideal two-handed weapon, capable of creating widespread carnage to your adversaries. Required Rubik’s Blood Cube to operate.
Butcher Chainsaw Unleash a stream of cutting terror that absorbs the blood of your victims while their guts are dancing on your chains. Required Rubik’s Blood Cube to operate.
Thirst Knife Inflict wounds with blood draining advantage.
Neck Strangler Cast an invisible noose around the neck of your targets and watch as they are strangled to death.
Fire Sight Produce an infernal blaze from your eyes that can sear the bones of your target.
Blood Viper Conjure a special serpent that can create multiple Rubik’s Blood Cube after ingesting the life of your target.

FPS Searcher Temporarily gives you a heightened vision to perceive your environment in extra sensory increments or frame by frame.
Crafting Window A function that allows you to merge various sets of Rubik’s Cubes to produce new elements.
Value Metre A sophisticated system that can determine a person’s wealth, health status and numerous intricate attributes that are often hidden. This functionality can also transfer the targeted wealth into a manifested Rubik’s Cube when certain conditions have been met.
Enslavement Rubik’s Cube Can force anyone to submit to your will.
Prosopagnosia Camouflage Disguise yourself as any other human being.
A Pack Of Sunflower Cigarettes Access cigarettes with special character boosters.
I became entranced by all the items listed above. Every single one of them made my boner extend an inch. I had to quickly settle my excitement so that Himeko wouldn’t misread the situation and thought that my growing erection was due to her lasciviousness.
Now that adequate blood had returned to my main head, my thinking became clearer. I browsed through the items listed in Tier 1 again before deciding what I wanted to purchase.
“Yes, where is it?” I was thirsting for a smoke for so goddamn long that my lungs were starting to recover from their vaporous abuse. My urgency allowed me to quickly locate the pack of Sunflower Cigarette in my inventory window.
“Now how do I take it out?” As I thought about this, a window popped up that asked me if I wanted to equip the item. “Of course, I want to. Now hurry and give me my smokes!”
“Smoke Pac, what’s wrong?” Himeko overheard me shouting at myself and became concerned for my sanity.
“Himeko I…” As I was about to explain my situation to her, I saw Himeko collapsing to the ground while gripping her chest in pain. Soon after this unexpected situation occurred, another message popped up in my field of vision.
“What the fuck?” I was alarmed by seeing this message coinciding with Himeko’s abrupt ailment. “Don’t tell me that it is manifesting inside of her chest?” This was exactly what was happening. The damn System was ripping apart Himeko’s heart to produce the pack of cigarettes I desired.

“Ah! It hurts!” Himeko started hollering at the top of her lungs in the dead of the night. It was a good thing that no one else was around, otherwise, they would have thought that I was the one killing her. Technically I was responsible but I wasn’t causing it of my own volition.
Without hearing Himeko’s terrifying voice, I could tell that she was experiencing excruciating pain just by assessing the contorted expression on her face along with the red glow coming from her swollen chest.
“Smoke Pac! Make it stop! Please… I’m…” Himeko's cry for help was cut short when she suddenly started coughing out a mouthful of blood. My bare chest was splattered with her life essences.
“Himeko hold on! I’ll see what I can do!”
This fucking system almost made me pop a bloody head vein. I had no idea why it chose to manifest the pack of smoke inside of Himeko’s chest. I thought it was going to be as simple as taking the item out of my inventory and having it magically appear in my hand. At least this was what Himeko said would happen based on the numerous novels she had read, but both of us had miscalculated. Himeko was about to die if I didn’t put a stop to the System’s inexplicable actions.
I began screaming madly at the System for it to comply. “Cancel the manifestation of the Rubik’s Cube! Do it now!”
“No, you piece a shit! I said stop! Do not kill her! Get the fuck out of her chest!” My mental state became so unstable that a bunch of random shit started popping up in my vision.
“Goddammit, you’re driving me insane!” While I was suffering from acute temporal dementia, Himeko’s life was slowly slipping out of her body due to her swollen chest area that started producing visible crimson steam.
I tried to calm her down the best that I could but nothing worked. How could it, when she was the one slipping into the unrelaxing embrace of death due to my foolish decision?
After the last message popped up, I felt an intense strain of muscle contraction occurring at my midriff. I observed the quick opening of my chest area. My skin was collapsing internally until the original Rubik’s Cube was revealed along with my beating heart.
Due to my neck angle, I couldn’t exactly see what was taking place inside but surely, something was moving around in there, because moments later, I witnessed the birth of a 3x3 Rubik’s Cube that had binary faces comprised of zeroes and ones. It shot out of my chest and landed in the palm of my hand.
The Rubik’s Cube spun around on its own briefly until the blocks separated and created an opening whereby I began to see a pack of Sunflower Cigarettes sitting in my hand.
“Seriously?” Even though I was pissed off, I was mentally drained by the stupidity of this Rubik’s System.
“Couldn’t you have done this from the begging instead of killing her?” I cursed this piece of shit system before redirecting my eyes onto Himeko’s corpse. She was staring at me with those widely open eyes of terror. I couldn’t stand it anymore so I moved my hand over her face and closed her eyelids.
“Forgive me Himeko.” This Asian chick was dead as a sewer rat and it was all on me. “Fucking hell! Ever since I crawled out of the grave, I have become a magnet for death.”
I couldn’t leave Himeko’s corpse lying there on the cold ground fearing that stray dogs might come to gnaw at her flesh and bones. Out of all the lowlifes that I’ve affiliated with, I considered her to be a true friend of mine. Therefore I picked her up gracefully in my hand and stared at the night sky with a bit of anguish.
“If this is how you want to play it then I will gladly accept your challenge. No matter what you toss at me. I shall have my revenge!”
This System comprehended my emotional state and decided to piss me off further with its next popped up.

Primacy Online
Life on Earth was nearly eradicated in World War III, but using alien technology, the Patriarch of the Church of the Resurrection built a new society from the ashes. He created what he called the Constructed Reality MMORPG, Primacy Online, a world so real that the players could not distinguish it from reality. After outlawing wars between the city-states on Earth, he declared that all wars would be fought inside the world of Primacy Online. Thirteen hundred years later, the release of Primacy Online VI: Legacy of Balor signals the beginning of World War IX. Players from Earth's city-states will be locked in cryogenic capsules and play Primacy Online in War Mode. Their achievements in the game will determine the victory rankings of their city-states, but if they die in the game, they will die for real. Patrick Armagh found flaws in the game mechanics of Primacy Online and exploited them to rise to the peak of the game. But when the Church declared he was cheating, he was perma-banned from the game. Now, the Church has declared that Patrick and all the other perma-banned cheaters will be included in a special Church group for World War IX, where they can earn redemption for their sin of cheating. However, Morgan Danan, Speaker of the City of Mann, and the generally acknowledged number one player of Primacy Online, has a deal for Patrick. With her help and his method of cheating, he has the chance to become a virtual god within Primacy Online, but by taking up her offer, he will become an enemy of the Church. Like a significant percentage of Primacy Online players, Patrick suffers from an ultimately fatal, degenerative nervous system disorder. He has less than five years to live. With death staring him in the face and nothing to live for, he accepts Morgan Danan's offer, and once again, enters Primacy Online as Crom Cruach, a disgraced legend. Will Crom Cruach, once again, become a legend, or will he be destroyed by the Church? What secrets has the Church hidden inside the game?

Cast Under Ellitis
Ellitis, a world of sword and magic. Massive in size, with most of its surface unexplored. Where dragons and spirits dwell amongst men and demi-humans, where gods and devils alike barter with mortals and immortals. Beautiful as it might seem, mystical even, Ellitis is not a world for the frail. It is a place where the strong prey upon the weak, and where the weak struggle with every fiber of their being to overthrow the strong. It is here, in an unsuspecting corner of this world, that an unfortunate soul was born an orphan by the mischief of beings untold. Eliot Wyon, formerly known as Eliot Alderman, was just a mediocre engineering student in his past life. Perhaps without any help, this life of his will be just as boring as his last. But throw in an impish ex-goddess to help him along. Maybe, just maybe, he could make this life a bit more interesting. ----------------------------------------**Author's Note**---------------------------------------- Hello Everyone, I am Vi, Cat Vi. This is my first attempt at writing a story. I am a complete beginner at this. The closest thing to an organized story I’ve ever written is essay reports back in high school. There might be syntax errors and weird language all over the place. So, apologies in advance. I’ll be trying my best to make this story as interesting as possible, and with your feedback I am sure I can make something nice out of it. Constructive criticism is appreciated. And you are welcome to comment any errors you might notice. I’ll try to fix them up as soon as I can. For now, I don’t have a schedule. But if the story gets traction, I will try to work something out. **Cover Image Drawn by me.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
