《One Versus Destiny》Chapter 100: Terms of Ipigal

We walked through a gate, with another set of those guards. Then another. Then another. We kept going, and the outer district was a military district, and inside of that was an industrial district, which didn't produce smoke, only magic with various affinities. Inside of that was alternating residential and commercial districts, each one closer to the center more affluent. The outermost one had people who, back on Earth before magic, would have been people who lived in housing projects, and the innermost residential district housed trillionaires and richer. The second innermost district was all Worldsafers, and the innermost was a castle.

We went into the castle. The magic in the air outside was so thick it was almost tangible, but in here, the air was half magic, half air. I was breathing like a normal person, as it would help my mana regeneration. The castle's walls were made of pure wood, and not the low-quality kind, either. I sensed the frame was an alloy of gold and titanium. The carpet adjusted to the person who was walking on its weight to minimize strain on the feet. Some rooms, which couldn't be made of wood, were made of gemstones. Everything was so clean it was like it was just cleaned, to the point I couldn't see the windows.

Aryav was looking around in awe, like I was.

Soon, we got to a sealed-off room. We went in, but the ruby-categories stayed out.

Me, the king, Wopoimcl, and Aryav stepped onto the pad in the center. It teleported us to an office.

Numerous charts and things lined the wall.

We sat around a round mahogany table.

The king cleared his throat. "Wopoimcl, you wish to stay in Ipigal. This will be granted, as long as you follow these rules."

Wopoimcl answered. "Yes. Show me or tell me the conditions."

"Well," The king began, "You must deal with at least one-one hundredth of the threat to the city, should the need for help arise. You must not cause any civilian issues, besides collateral damage from high-category fights.

You must deal with at least one-fifth of jade-category threats. I am sorry, but a necrotic plague has magic-starved a lot of jade-categories.

You must comply with other normal restrictions, and direct important orders."

Wopoimcl nodded. "One thing, though, the orders must be normal and within my power."

"Of course," The king responded.

They decided to do a spar, as neither had had a good battle in a while.

Wopoimcl took us to watch.

We jogged back along the cobbled road, at Mach 5, but with none of us breaking a sweat. Magic removed sonic booms, because in big cities, people were constantly moving at Mach 3 to 10, so there would be sonic booms every second. That would wear on normal categories' hearings, and would deafen most people eventually.

Soon, we arrived at a site about a thousand kilometers from the city. We took a seat about three hundred miles away, and Aryav summoned a tornado that drew a line, where if Wopoimcl or the king passed, they lost, and another, if anyone else stepped over, the battle would be paused.
