《One Versus Destiny》Chapter 68: The Dome and the Vampire

I flew to the dome, nervousness coursing through my veins. I had heard that the Lithunian city of Kaunas’s commercial district had been encompassed in a purple dome at three thirty PM.
When I landed, I saw a huge mess. TV crews had come to report on it, while many magical fractions were there. The Vilnius, New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco,
London, Paris, Moscow, Pyongyang, Seoul, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Cape Town, São Paulo, and Sydney branches were partially there.
When I tried peering in, I saw thousands of hideous, sleeping creatures that were half doom missile and half human. It was all veiled under a thick, purple, barrier.
Media crews were trying to peer inwards, but didn’t have the perception power to see inside. I was cracking up at normal-categories trying to see through a ruby-category veil.
“What do you see?” Asked one reporter. “I mean, you are a superhero that I heard has a perception power.”
I summoned Abjwe. The news team scrambled with shouts of fear. I said, “Don’t worry, this is Abjwe. He’s a friend of mine.” I used a natural gold-category ability, Pefighic Telepathic Imagery and Communication, or PTIAC, for short.
Abjwe took the shape of what the inside of the dome looked like in miniature. Media crews gasped as I said, “I used an ability to make them look like a model of the inside of the dome.”
As we waited outside the dome, the humans turned more into doom missiles. Abjwe kept shifting correspondingly to the scene.
When I went to have breakfast after pulling the night watch for the Chennai branch, I sensed a powerful soul in the café. As I sprinted in, the soul got even more powerful. I saw a corpse slowly getting out from under the ground. I ran straight over to it to investigate. I sent a powerful blast of soul out, blasting all the normals out of the café.

The diamond-category vampire arose. I jumped over a table to meet its skin-piercer with my sword of death with a mighty clang. We started sword fighting (or sword-blood-sucking tube fighting, whatever you want to call it) at an alarmingly fast pace. I held out my right hand. The vamp tried to cut it off. That was all the opportunity I needed, though. “You will die,” I whispered in an eerie voice as I channeled extreme mana into my sword.
I stabbed the vampire right through the head. It started bleeding out, but my sword was lodged in its head. I jumped away and served the soul tie as the gray interior of the café exploded in a shower of stone. There was a vampire corpse with a half-exploded sword sticking out of its head. “Explosive blood,” I heard a centaur mutter. “I hate that freaking stuff.”
Normals started swarming the café’s ruins, but a police officer held them back. “There was a magic fight in here. Looks like the vampire lost, but I’m not sure it would be safe to go in,” Announced the officer. I was standing on the only remaining balcony of the nearby townhouse. I vaulted down as I activated the cloak. I created a crater with the superhero landing, and the dirt kicked me into the air, where I started hovering. “I fought a vampire. It should be safe to go in, but stay away from the wall and part of the ceiling that remains. Don’t touch the sword, I put so much magical energy in it that killed the diamond-category.”
I sensed another explosion coming on, which I softened with a rainbow wall. “That should be the last of it.” I swooped down and dug under the café. I saw a sixteenth century graveyard, with corpses coming up, so I made the ceiling of the whole place crash down by kicking the pillar that held up the café. It crushed the graveyard, which then exploded when I kicked the ground. “It should be safe if you wear a harness, as the ground is unstable.”

I saw the dome start to open. I peered inside and saw the pebbles that littered the ground sparsely on things. The newly-transformed doom missiles were contentedly snoring away on the stone. The factions were swarming over the cores, but I was trying to investigate.
The area had been transformed into medieval castles with electricity. I called Wopoiemcl.

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
