Shiro grabbed her book on her desk as she stood up from her seat while Mio stood up from the edge of the bed. Shiro nodded at her friend and said. "Let's go." She led the way with Mio behind her as they quickly made their way down the stairway and looked around the empty living room. Shiro scratched the side of her head while Mio looked at the front door and thought. Outside. Mio pointed at the front door and said. "Shiro, let's check outside." Shiro had a look of confusion on her face, she thought. Why would they be-? Yuki!
Shiro quickly made her way to the front while Mio ran beside her. Mio quickly took off the white indoor slippers she was wearing and put on her flat-heeled shoes while Shiro slid open the shoe compartment as she took off her slippers. While standing Shiro tried to put on her sports shoes, she said. "Mio, go ahead and make sure she doesn't do anything stupid." Mio already put on her shoes as she placed her hand on the doorknob, she said. "She won't do anything that stupid." Shiro had a serious expression on her face while she tied the shoelaces on her left foot, she said. "We're talking about Yuki."
Mio paused for a moment and opened the door leading outside as she saw the back of Ketsueki's figure. Mio looked confused while she heard what Ketsueki said. "At least these two are enjoying themselves." Mio walked beside Ketsueki's left and looked up to her, she said. "Onee-san, what-." From the corner of her eye, she saw a faint streak of white pass down the street at high speeds. Mio moved her eyes onto the street and thought. Was that a… Baseball?
Shiro burst out the door as she saw her older sister and nervously said. "Onee-chan! Where's-?!" Ketsueki pointed to her left while she kept looking to the right as Shiro and Mio turned their heads as they saw their friend. Yuki was completely focused with her eyes calm, she suddenly turned around and took a few steps as she leaped at the middle of a light pole. At the same time, Ketsueki moved her gaze from the right to the left as she easily followed the projectile of the ball being thrown at high speeds.
Yuki landed her left foot on the light pole as she turned her head sideways to look behind her. She jumped off the light pole leaving behind a deep and visible footprint of her sports shoes on it. Yuki was ten feet off the ground as she looked like she was floating as she raised her right arm as much as possible. Mio and Shiro were completely stunned as they watched, Shiro said. "Onee-chan… What's happening?" The two of them saw a faint streak of white that Yuki barely caught as she started falling onto the ground. Yuki landed on the ground with a loud thud as she squatted down and took a deep breath. Mio's gaze zoomed in onto the baseball her friend was holding, she spoke with a hint of confusion in her voice and said. "What game is this supposed to be?"
Ketsueki kept her gaze on Yuki as she winded her right arm and threw it with all her might. Ketsueki said. "Catch, at least I think it is." Shiro stood on her older sister's right, she looked up to her and said. "Onee-chan, where's-." Mio and Ketsueki were already looking where the ball was headed. Shiro stopped mid-sentence seeing the two of them staring to their right. Reiki quickly made his way to the high-rise cement wall near the apartment complex as he jumped at it. He planted his right foot onto the wall and jumped higher as he extended his left arm and caught the baseball.

He floated in the air for a couple of seconds as he landed on the ground, Reiki thought. I've gotten used to the timing, but the impact is another thing. He spun the ball on the tip of his index finger as he slowly made his way to his home. Yuki's expression was calm and focused as she watched Reiki's every move, he let out a chuckle and said. "I think we should call it a day." Yuki was stunned by what she heard, she wiped some sweat and moved a few strands of her that were sticking to her forehead. Yuki said. "W-Why?! It was just getting to the good part!" She clenched her hands into fists as a hint of unwillingness formed in her eyes while her mouth formed a slight frown.
Reiki pointed at his left which Yuki followed with her gaze and saw her two friends and his older sister. Ketsueki gave Yuki an inviting smile while Mio waved at her friend. Shiro looked at Yuki from top to bottom with suspicion in her eyes and glanced at her older brother. Shiro's eyes narrowed while Yuki jogged her way toward them while Reiki took his time walking. Mio gave her friend a smirk and said. "Did we interrupt your fun?" Shiro glared at her friend, which Yuki ignored. Yuki flashed her friends a stiff smile, she said. "You two should've taken your time, solving homework. The assignment was quite tricky."
Shiro glared at her friend while she indifferently said. "The homework was a five hundred word essay on history." Reiki stood beside Yuki as he placed his right hand on top of her head while Shiro's eyes zoomed in on her older brother's hand on her friend's head. He said. "Yuki, we can play some other time." Yuki's eyes sparkled as she looked up to him and excitedly said. "Really?!" Shiro's gaze turned hostile while Mio and Ketsueki watched her expression change. Ketsueki thought. I need to stop glaring when I'm around her, she's beginning to look like me.
Reiki caressed the top of Yuki's head which only made Shiro's gaze increasingly hostile, he said. "Yeah, now go take a shower while Onee-chan checks these two's homework." He moved his gaze onto his little sister and noticed her hostile glare on Yuki, Reiki thought. Onee-chan has been influencing her in more ways than one… He moved his hand away from the top of Yuki's head as she wiped some sweat off her face using the short sleeve of her shirt. Shiro's gaze was glued onto her older brother's right hand while Mio faked a cough and said. "How about we all go back inside the house? It'll be better than standing outside in this heat."
Ketsueki clapped her hands which got all of their attention, she said. "Agreed." She pointed at Shiro and continued. "Shiro, lead Yuki to the bathroom so she could wash the sweat on her." Ketsueki held her palm toward them, she said. "While you're at it, give me your notebooks. I'll check your homework." Mio passed Ketsueki her notebook while Shiro glared at her friend who was constantly wiping sweat away from her face using her sleeve. Shiro passed her notebook to her older sister as she turned around and went back inside the house, she blandly said. "Yuki, follow me."
Yuki cheerfully said. "Sure!" As she followed her friend inside while under the gaze of Reiki, Mio, and Ketsueki. Mio looked up to Ketsueki and said. "Is she going to be okay?" Ketsueki waved the two notebooks she was holding with her left hand, she said. "Yuki will be fine, Shiro is just jealous." Mio gave her a nod as she made her way inside. Reiki took a couple of steps inside when his older sister placed her right hand on his shoulder. Ketsueki said. "Reiki, can you pass me the ball?"

Reiki looked up to her and said. "Heads up." He casually threw the baseball with his left hand while Ketsueki moved her hand away from his shoulder and caught it with her right. She stared at the surface of the ball and thought. From how they were abusing this, it's completely smooth now… Ketsueki felt the baseball using her fingertips as she tossed it around a couple of times with one hand, she continued her train of thought. They have a pretty good grip from using something as slippery as this to play catch. Reiki grabbed his older sister's shirt which made her look down at him, he said. "Onee-chan, let's go."
Ketsueki flashes him a smile, she said. "Good job on entertaining Shiro's friend, Reiki." The two of them made their way inside the house while she tossed the baseball at him which he caught mid-air. Reiki, he said. "It was fun." He slid open the shoe compartment as he started undoing his shoelaces while his older sister did the same. Ketsueki glanced at him from the corner of her eye and said. "The only thing that surprised me, is the fact you're not even out of breath let alone sweating."
Reiki placed his sports shoes inside the shoe compartment while he took out two pairs of white indoor slippers, he said. "You're imagining things." He placed down the slippers on the floor and put on a pair of them while Ketsueki passed him her sports shoes. Reiki took the shoes off his older sister's hands and placed them in the shoe compartment. Ketsueki placed one of the notebooks between her armpit as she opened one of them and flipped through the pages with her left hand. She said. "You've been keeping one too many secrets from me, Reiki."
Ketsueki glanced at him from the corner of her eye while he placed the other pair of slippers in front of his older sister, Reiki said. "And it'll be revealed in due time…" He looked up to her and continued. "How's Shiro's homework?" Ketsueki closed the notebook as she put on the indoor slippers and swapped the notebook she was holding with the one pinched between her armpit. She said. "As usual, she's always improving." The two of them made their way inside the house and saw Shiro and Mio sitting on the couch watching tv in the living room.
Ketsueki made her way to the armchair on the right while Reiki sat on the armchair on the left. Ketsueki threw one of the notebooks on the armrest of the chair she was sitting on while she made herself comfortable. Shiro ignored her brother as she kept her eyes on the screen while Mio pretended to be ignorant. Reiki stretched on the chair as he let out a yawn and covered it with his hand, he moved his eyes on the two girls on the couch and said. "Nice work on completing the assignment in about half an hour."
Shiro kept her eyes on the tv as she indifferently said. "Yeah." As she crossed her arms and ignored the cookies and brownies on the coffee table. Mio reached her hand out for one and said. "It was fairly simple, I chose to write something during the Edo period." Ketsueki closed the notebook she was holding and picked up the one that was placed on the armrest, she said. "I believe these belong to you two." She passed the two notebooks with her left hand to her little sister who stood up from the couch and took it off her hands.
Shiro turned her head sideways to look at her friend, she said. "I'll place the notebooks in my room." She made her way to the staircase while Mio and Ketsueki moved their gazes onto Reiki. Ketsueki gave her little brother a peculiar look and said. "Reiki." He let out an exaggerated sigh and moved his gaze onto his older sister, Reiki said. "Shiro's not even mad." Mio took out a bite from the cookie she was holding, she thought. That's confusing me the most… Shiro's pretending to be mad…
Mio watched the two siblings exchange while Reiki placed his elbow on the armrest and rested his chin on the palm of his hand, he said. "Can't I just-." Ketsueki interrupted him and gave him a reprimanding look as her lips formed into a slight frown, she said. "Reiki." Reiki stared at his older sister with a blank look, he glanced at the staircase and let out a sigh as he stood up from his seat. He said. "I'll go get some ice cream and make a sundae." Reiki's hand blurred as he took the plates on the coffee table and made his way toward the kitchen. Shiro poked her head from the staircase and excitedly made her way toward her older sister.
Ketsueki had a smirk on her lips while her little sister walked beside her, Shiro said. "Did Onii-chan go to the kitchen?" Her eyes sparkled as she waited for her older sister's answer, Ketsueki said. "You did a great job, Shiro. Though it would have been more convincing if Reiki didn't notice you hiding in the stairway." She placed a hand on top of her younger sister's head and patted her. Mio stared at the two sisters smiling at each other and thought. These two planned this… Shiro waved her hand and said. "He didn't notice me." Yuki came down the staircase as she was wearing a blue t-shirt and shorts, her hair was slightly damp as she wiped some drops of water on her cheek.
Yuki was suddenly behind Shiro as she tapped her shoulder which completely took her by surprise and made her scream out loud at the top of her lungs. Shiro turned around and leaned on the armrest of the chair, she said. "Don't scare me like that, Yuki!" Yuki stared at her friend who was trying to calm herself down for a moment, she said. "Why were you standing in the staircase?" Shiro froze for a split second as she faked a cough and stiffly said. "I-I wasn't." Yuki turned her head to look at Mio who shrugged her shoulders at her, Yuki said. "Did you three already eat everything?" Mio pointed at the empty coffee table and said. "No, we still haven't gone through the pile of-." She moved her gaze onto the table and saw there was nothing on it.
Ketsueki joined the conversation and said. "Reiki took the plates." Mio's brows furrowed, she thought. When? I didn't even see it. Yuki made her way to the couch and sat on Mio's left, she moved some hair that was sticking to her forehead to the side. Yuki said. "Reiki took everything?" Shiro's mouth formed into a big smile, she said. "Onii-chan is going to give us some ice cream." Mio had a hint of confusion in her eyes, she said. "Wouldn't eating too much spoil our appetite for dinner?" Yuki smacked her friend's shoulder with her hand which made Mio grit her teeth in pain. Yuki said. "It'll be fine if we eat everything, right?"
Before the two of them could say something Ketsueki said. "You two don't need to pretend. I know how much you need to eat within a day." Mio glared at Yuki from the corner of her eye as she calmed herself down and moved her gaze onto Ketsueki. Mio said. "Are you sure?" Yuki repeatedly smacked Mio's back, Yuki said. "It's fine! Aneki wouldn't be offering it unless she's sure." Mio turned her head and glared at Yuki who laughed it off and smiled at her. Ketsueki moved her gaze onto her little sister, she said. "Are they always like that?" Shiro nodded at her and said. "Yes, so we don't need to worry about a fight breaking out."
Mio ate the last bit of the cookie she was holding while Yuki looked up to Ketsueki and said. "Aneki, what kind of training does Reiki do?" Shiro made her way to the couch and sat on Mio's right, she had a pondering expression on her face. Shiro said. "Now that I think about it… I don't know what kind of training Onii-chan does." Ketsueki kept a straight face, she thought. Hell, I've watched his training the day it started and I can confidently claim. Adults would have broken themselves on the first day. Ketsueki pretended to think for a moment as she placed a hand on her chin, she softly said. "... Hmm…"
Ketsueki continued. "If I were to simplify it, he's trying to break his limits." Yuki and Shiro's eyes sparkled while Mio kept a calm head. Yuki grabbed the cushion she was sitting on with both of her hands, she excitedly said. "That sounds so cool." Mio thought. It can't be that bad. A proud smile formed on Shiro's face, she said. "I knew that-." Reiki made his way from the kitchen as he was carrying a tray with four large bowls of ice cream with a spoon buried in them, he said. "I'm back, sorry it took so long." The four girls moved their gazes on the bowls of ice cream as he picked one of them up, he continued. "Strawberry for Onee-chan." While saying what type of flavor it was, Reiki passed the bowls around.
He said. "Chocolate for the little ones. I'm sorry about that, I don't know what type of flavor you prefer." Mio and Yuki took them on at a time. Mio picked the spoon up and said. "It's fine, I liked the sweets you baked." Yuki pursed her lips into a straight line as she picked the spoon up and mixed it around. Shiro, Ketsueki, and Mio started enjoying their ice cream while Ketsueki turned the tv on with her left hand. Reiki held the tray with his left hand as he placed his right on top of Yuki's head, he said. "Yuki, what's the problem?" Yuki swirled her spoon around the bowl, she looked up to him and said. "Do you have anything that's a lot less sweet?"
She scooped some chocolate ice cream with large chunks of brownie and cookie mixed in it as it fell back into the bowl. Yuki continued. "I've already filled my stomach with enough sugar for the day, any more and I'll end up sick." Reiki took the bowl off her hands and placed it on the coffee table, he said. "For now, let's place the bowl there. The three carnivores are already eyeing it without going through half of what's in their bowls." Shiro, Ketsueki, and Mio's eyes were glued onto the bowl of ice cream on the coffee table while they ate the contents of their bowl.
Shiro glanced at her older brother's hand that was on her friend's head. Reiki patted Yuki on the top of her head, he continued. "How about you follow me to the kitchen and I give you a bowl of plain vanilla like mine?" He made his way to the kitchen while Yuki looked at his back with a hint of confusion on her face, she stood up from the couch as she ran at him. Shiro ate a spoonful of ice cream and was surprised by her friend's actions as she abruptly stood up and went after them.
Mio gulped down a mouthful of ice cream and said. "Is this alright with you?" Ketsueki scooped a large spoonful of ice cream, she said. "It'll be fine, Shiro is at the age where they'll say anything. When she grows older she'll be embarrassed by it." She ate the large spoonful of cream and wiped the corner of her lips with her thumb. Mio moved her gaze onto her and said. "And on the off chance, she doesn't?" Ketsueki reached her spoon out to the bowl on the coffee table and took a scoop and stared at her spoon. Ketsueki thought. … I'll be willing to share him with Shiro… If she's on the same wavelength as me… She said. "Shiro either moves on or she waits until she's of age."
Yuki and Shiro walked from the kitchen as they made their way to the couch. Yuki was carrying a bowl with vanilla ice cream and a spoon in them as she sat on Mio's left while Shiro sat on her friend's right. Reiki made his way from the kitchen while carrying a tray with tall glasses of water along with a stack of coasters. Yuki placed one of the bowls on the coffee table and picked up the spoon as she tasted it. Her eyes sparkled while Reiki placed the glasses around the coffee table. He said. "Better?" Yuki nodded at him as she scooped a large spoonful of ice cream. Reiki made his way back to the kitchen while Mio glanced at him. Shiro swallowed and said. "Onii-chan, aren't you eating with us?"
Reiki let out a yawn and said. "As much as I would love to, I need to start making preparations for dinner." Ketsueki scooped some ice cream and said. "What's on the menu?" He spun the tray on the tip of his finger and said. "Hamburger, pizza, and french fries. I need to start now unless you four are willing to eat store-bought bread."

8 99A Dungeon Tested
Its a hard life balancing all the things a successful dungeon should be doing. Will our newest addition to the dungeon race even survive let alone make it to the top where dungeons such as the megafauna roam? Or will our main character suffer in the dust till some inauspicious and ignoble death at the end of some F-rankers sword? Note this is me having some fun while I wait for new releases of dungeon stories. Feel free to comment on that basis. I will be keeping the first few chapters slow so as to give me plenty to build upon later. I have tentatively given this the gore tag for now. With that in mind "Let the games begin".
