《Heroes Vs. Villains》Part 3.3 - Demons ~ It's where my demons hide.

Sara waved out her hands, letting her powers slam against the demons. Waves of the demons that circled her, flew away from her friends, crashing out the windows, plastering through walls, and smashing on the elevators' doors. A surge of relief came over her as powers were cast out of her fingertips.

Sara picked up Kate’s head, knowing that she would have to heal her friend now or her friend would be gone forever...but as Sara looked down, Kate’s neck began to knit together and her bruises vanished as her own powers were healing her.

Sara scoffed in astonishment, feeling dumb for knowing Kate was a powerful being. Katerina wouldn’t die that easily from the low-ranking demons. Sara whirled up, grabbing Demetrius’s and Ricky’s arms, yanking them to Kate as demons unmercifully came and started to use their demonic powers, blasting their powers at the heroes, but Sara unleashed a protective dome; hatred growing inside her like an oncoming tremendous storm.

“You want all these demons to die?” Sara hissed between her teeth, feeling the dome weakening with each precious second.

Ricky growled, “Yes. Look what they did to Kate.”

Sara flinched as she felt herself let the demons hurt her friend. The bodyguard made herself look down at who she was protecting, Kate hurt and wounded, but thankfully healing. Sara should’ve been good enough to stop the pain from coming to her friend. But she wasn’t. Fury erupted inside her, her powers rocketing through her in a pleasurable feeling.

She slammed the Portable Port into the ground, pushing Kate, Demetrius, and Ricky inside it, her friends falling with befuddled screams, Kate yelling, “Sara, no!”

Sara whirled back around to see demons snarling at her, revealing their pointy shark teeth, they squatting down and examining their prey.

The demons lurched their powers all at once, shattering the dome with loud shattering sounds.

“I dibs eating her,” a demon remarked. “I beat you taste delicious.”

Sara smirked, making the demons freeze in their spot, all thinking the same thing. She let her eyes start swirling red, biting down her lips as her grin promised an element of surprise.

Some demons backed away, others stood on their ground, but all felt intimidated by beautiful, infuriated face. She couldn’t bat the feeling that she had disappointed her friends, and certainly herself.

The image of Kate’s neck gashed open, her friend’s face in a horrendous look.

Sara took a step forward, wearing her usual black: black tank top and her leather skirt flowing underneath her. Then, as fast as that magnificent smirk appeared, it vanished into a despised glare, “No one fucking hurts my friend without punishment by death.”

Her short temper had been provoked much by this late afternoon, and there was nothing reducing the raging that fueled her anger inside her. Tears stung her face, picturing her friend over and over again with that anguished face. She spread her hands as demons raced at her, ready for a delicious onslaught.

Powers coursed through her; the screams of delighted demons bounced off the walls.

Half red and half gold swirled in her eyes as her powers boomed up and down the skyscraper, the building prodigiously quivering as if a disastrous earthquake began out of nowhere.

Sara screamed all of her shame and rage as golden heavenly spears came out of her, striking each demon, not missing any of them. Tears ran profusely down her gorgeous face as she fell down to her knees, letting the building start to crumble down.

Kate’s body smacked against the roof of a building that was on the run-down side city of San Francisco. Kate went up on her feet. She saw Demetrius and Ricky standing, looking around. They ran to Kate and hugged her, glad she was alive.

“We’re safe,” croaked Ricky in a heartbreaking, with an amazing smile.

Kate stared at her brother, “Where’s Sara? What did you say to her?”

Ricky saw Demetrius’s and Kate’s faces torn at him. A delirious look crossed Ricky’s face, “She asked me a question.”

“What did she ask?” pressed Demetrius, his hands clutching into sweaty fists, breathing hard as fear leaked inside him.

Ricky answered with a scoff, “’ You want these demons to die?’”

Kate’s eyes peeled wide as she said with the most utterance of dread, “Oh fuck.”

Just on the cue, the ground shook slightly, and Kate, Ricky, and Demetrius looked up, seeing that they were in a different building, with a clear view of the skyscraper.

“Oh, shit,” gasped Ricky, not sure if his eyes were seeing realistic things.

The skyscraper office building that housed a thousand demons, shook underneath itself. Swarms of dust puffed out in like a small sandstorm around the building, blowing out, making Kate and her brothers cough, the Dixon covering their mouths.

As the dust started to barely subside, a blast of golden ball darted from the building to the sky. The blast burst like a firework, making a huge pair of golden wings spreading out an illusion above the building; and hung in the air with a beautiful stance.

After a second of incredulous silent beat, the wings folded on themselves and dove into the building. Nosily, surprised screams from demons shuddered through the air as the wings boomed inside the office building, and in the next split second a golden dome formed in a blink of an eye and was gone.

The demons, all of them in that building, were dead. No doubt about that.

Then, the building collapsed on itself into a huge loud crash, forming another huge dust wave, shaking the ground. Kate, Ricky, and Demetrius almost fell down from the building they were standing on, as it shook.

Kate’s and her brother’s eardrums started to rung as silence stilled the air.

“What was that?” exclaimed Ricky, staring dumbfounded at the destroyed building.

Kate swallowed as the powers of her friend lingered in the air, Kate’s powers shrinking inside her as they sensed something so wrong and dangerous. Kate heard the flapping of many wings and the heroes looked up, seeing an army of angels headed toward them.

Michael spotted them, his white wings were massive and glorious. He pointed his sword at Kate and her brothers, flying at them. He landed on the roof, his voice gruff as he demanded with a furious tone, “I told you to see the outskirts of the building! What in God’s name happened?”

Kate started to explain, “We were looking on the outskirts, but the demons captured us!”

“I don’t want any lame excuses, Katerina, I expected better with you!” The Archangel froze and whirled around to the building, sensing the daunting powers stinging the air, “Sara!” In the next instant, he flung himself up in the air and headed to the building in a flash, his colossal wings flew up, making a strong wind, knocking down Ricky and Demetrius; but Kate stood there, her heart aching as she knew she terribly messed up this mission.

The rest of the angels came to them, waiting for Michael’s orders. They were invisible by a magical glamour from the naked eyes of the mundanes.

A long minute ticked by and Michael appeared in front of them, holding Sara’s body covered in blood and dust, her face barely recognizable. She was breathing but unconscious, her limps loosely by her side. The Archangel stared daggers at Kate and fumed out, “Katerina, I…” Michael clung to his daughter and flapped his wings furiously at Kate and her brothers, then flew off, not finishing the sentence.

The angels knew what to do, even though Michael didn’t order anything. They had to make sure the demons were gone or somehow clean it up before the cops came.

Sirens blared in the distance as the angels flew to the building, checking it out.

Some angels stayed with the Dixon, one of them handing a Portable Port to Demetrius, “Let’s get out of this mess,” muttered Demetrius, letting the portal awaken.

Ricky sided next to Demetrius, “I need a shower and we should all be checked on.” He glanced at Kate, seeing the same distraught face on Demetrius and him, but hers had a weary look.

Kate looked up at the sky where Michael had flown away, never seen so much disappointment from him...but never seen anger cross the sweet Archangel’s face that was meant for her. He had given her the look of: “Seriously, Kate,” or, “You could’ve done better than that.” This was way worse. She gazed down as she saw cars zoom, headed to the collapsed building, and people hurrying to see the scene.

The wind blew her hair from her face slightly.

Even with all the pain of being kicked and her neck being gashed open—Kate still feeling warm blood oozing on her neck—the regret swirling inside of her was at least triple knowing Michael would never forgive her for what happened to Sara. Even though Sara did it of her own determination, Kate had called her to come in an urgent emergency.

To protect her and her brother.

Completely her fault.

But wasn't it Sara's fault that she decided to collapse the building on herself?

Her mind wasn't working clearly as she felt tears coming and she didn’t let them hide as her brothers gently guided her into the ready portal, Demetrius clutching at her, coxing, soft words, “It’s going to be okay.”

Kate gulped down her shame and knew that she was childish to think they could’ve killed all those demons and strictly went against Michael’s orders.

Kate knew this would come to pass, but this mission would permanently remain like an ugly scar on her forever.
