Lucas' bloodlust vanished when he was suddenly dragged back into the carriage.
Looking back, he saw Emelie's face. It looked like she wanted to say a myriad of things but they all canceled each other out, leaving her with nothing more than furrowed brows.
She pulled him back to the seat at the back of the carriage. It wasn't a particularly large one, only meant to accommodate four people, at most. It was only then that she had began speaking. "By Empre, why would you push your way out there?"
Lucas didn't bother trying to explain his bloodlust. He wasn't sure even a mother's love and acceptance could envelop her four year old son being attracted to the sight of violence, no matter how he tried to explain it with his limited vocabulary.
After rapidly turning it over in his mind, he came up with something appealing. "I wanted to see them fight and use magic. Since I'm going to rule over Grandfather's land when I grow up, I have to be more like a king. I can't just sit back and ignore my guards fighting. That's not what kings do."
Lucas mentally patted himself on the back when he saw the mixture of pride and annoyance on his mother's face.
Emelie sighed. "Don't listen to your aunts and uncles. Yes, you should act like a king but there's no point acting like one if you're too hurt to be one. Kings aren't reckless."
Lucas did an obligatory nod before going back to doing nothing.
"What, have you finished all your books?" Emelie asked.
Lucas nodded again.
A slight smile appeared on her face as she reached into her bag, and pulled out another book, a lot thicker than the ones he'd finished in only a couple of minutes. "I thought you might finish them so quickly, so I packed another one. It's really popular, you might like it."
Lucas looked the book she handed to him, reading the title. 'Parry Kotter? Huh, that sounds like that one book that was super popular back on Earth.'
He flipped the book over and began reading the back. 'Parry Kotter had never even heard of Pogwarts when letters kept coming in, flooding his little house. Each letter had been snatched before he could read them by his mother and father. Then suddenly, on his tenth birthday, a friendly giant bursts into his house with shocking news. Parry has been invited to Pogwarts Academy, a school on magic. His incredible journey starts here!'
For Emelie, this was the first time she'd seen her son make such an expression. The awkwardness from receiving something he didn't want combined with the awkwardness of recognizing the Earth series crippled Lucas' poker face, not that it was a good one at his age anyways.

"Well, does it seem interesting?" She asked.
"Yeah mom, I like it. Thank you."
The robotic reply was lost on Emelie who merely smiled and went back to reading the book she'd been reading before the sudden bandit attack.
Lucas, at first, just listened to the sound of the carriage passing over the road before finally deciding to read the book. As the name and the synopsis implied, though, the book mirrored that of the one on Earth, leaving him entirely disinterested.
He had been interested in how the book would differ, considering that magic really did exist in this world, but the plot remained roughly the same, taking place in a meta-fantasy world where only a few people could sense their mana, and therefore, use magic. Of course, such people probably existed on this world but it was nowhere near most of the population like it was in 'The Adventures of Parry Kotter.'
Falling into his rabbit hole of thoughts, he began to start looking into his mana. He'd long since gotten used to the strange sensation of moving the energy around.
He really concentrated on it. Unlike before where he simply focused on his mana, now he was focusing in on it.
It put him in a sort of meditative state. The sensation was akin to focusing on the tiny nonexistent dots of color that would appear if one closed their eyes after staring at a lightbulb.
Mana focus was all-rounded in that he could use it to calm himself down, potentially see any injuries, or simply kill time as he was currently doing.
Luckily, the rest of the trip wasn't too long, and the carriage driver told them they were getting near. He walked to the front of the carriage to see the outside.
Looking through the door, his eyes, again, suffered quite a bit. The carriage wasn't dimly lit but he habitually closed his eyes when using mana focus or when deep in thought. This was mainly because those two were what he'd usually do before he went to bed. They served as mental checks.
The city surpassed his expectations. They weren't in it yet but the walls looked rock solid and nigh impenetrable. They drew nearer to the gates. The two guards got back onto their guard, putting their best face forward. Meanwhile, the horses drawing the carriage, neighed at the upcoming relief they would face.
When they got to the city gate, they were stopped by a city guard, a clean-shaven man in his twenties or so. However, as soon as Emelie heard that they were at the gates, she pulled out an envelope with the Cazenarch Family's seal, a symbol resembling the letter C with both ends of the symbol having snake heads. With that, they were let into the city with no real issue.

Just like before, Lucas noticed there was an odd sense of modern style clashing with old technology. The houses were somewhat modern, at least resembling old apartment buildings. However, there was an abject lack of metal anywhere, the structures mainly being made of clay, wood, cement, and various types of rocks.
It was only upon progressing further deeper into the city that it changed. It seemed that the outer districts of the city were actually meant for the lower class.
The infrastructure quality improved. Lucas even saw.. wait was that a car?
It was similar to a car at least. The carriage needed no horse but it ran well and could be driven. There was also a lot more metal in the carriages unlike the more traditional designs but it was nothing like the modern car.
They passed through the inner part of the city, until they got to the core walls. There was another set of walls that separated the private property of the Cazenarches from the rest of the city. It was almost a separate city.
Again, showing the Cazenarch seal, they were let in. It was a fairly smooth trip from then on. They decided to leave their carriage at the carriage holding area while their horses would be cared for at a stable until they came back for them. This wasn't because they had to. Rather, it was more respectful to make the rest of the trip on foot. It didn't make the trip any easier though, considering how much effort Lucas had to put in, to keep up, especially with the coat he had on.
Soon enough, they arrived at the Cazenarch Family mansion, a hulking building that Lucas still remembered. The space around it was cleared and yet the building still seemed to have a sort of busy feel to it. The gray walls were unblemished with the beautiful rectangular windows having little twists at the corners.
They were stopped at the mansion gates, this time by a girl. She appeared to be only a preteen yet her perfectly done blonde hair reached her waist as she stood absolutely straight, staring at the approaching group. Again, Emelie took out the envelope but unlike before, this girl opened it. A nigh-imperceptible frown appeared on Emelie's face. Even if she had to read what was in the envelope, doing it right in front of them was rude. Besides the seal alone should've been enough to get them in. That was essentially an invitation in itself.
After skimming the letter, the girl's calm strict demeanor cracked into one of hilarity. "You're the Manure my older brother decided to marry. No wonder father doesn't talk to him much anymore", she sputtered in between giggles. "You don't even have a magic carriage!"
Both of the guards' faces turned sour. They held immense respect for the Manour Family so hearing one of its daughters be slandered right in front of their face, as well as the blatant disrespect to the family name, was pretty harsh. Even Lucas was a bit pricked, though it was more that he disliked the girl's attitude and less that he really cared about the insult.
Emelie, however, kept a perfect poker face. This was nowhere near the first time she'd received such an insult. The only difference between this and all the other times was that no one had been so frank about it, though that was to be expected when comparing a child who had yet to hit puberty with fully grown women, full of spite and envy.
After a few more seconds of giggling, the girl regained her composure and looked back up at Emelie who stared down at her.
It pricked the girl's pride to have to look up at some lower noble family member but standing at 1.32m(4'4), she was at least a head shorter than Emelie who stood at 1.73m(5'8 ft). Suddenly, her eyes lit up.
She pointed at Lucas who stood behind his mother. "Oh right, you guys had a kid. Is that my nephew right there?"
A minute frown appeared on Emelie's face. "You should let us in", she said, frankly.
"Yeah but I want to see my nephew", the girl responded, smiling.
Emelie didn't respond but rather smiled. At first, the girl was confused. However a cold voice rang out. "Celine, why haven't you let my wife and child in?"
The petite girl jumped before turning around to see her older brother walking in, a freezing cold look on his face. Immediately, she began pouting. "We were just talking", she groaned, extending the last syllable to add to the dissatisfaction Sebastian would perceive from her.
"Isn't it rude to make someone wait in the cold, even if you just want to talk?"
Celine lowered her head, grumbling out a quiet yes.
The cold look on Sebastian's face lessened as he patted his little sister on the head. It completely disappeared when he looked at Emelie, his eyes lighting up.
"Welcome back, Emelie Manour-Cazenarch." He said, with a bright smile, prompting further pouting from his little sister.
Her poker face lasted a few seconds before she smiled back, hugging him. He reached in for a kiss but she pushed him away, laying a finger on his chest, drawing a circle on it, and tapping the middle of the circle.
He got the message, and, slightly blushing, he welcomed them into the Cazenarch household.
