《The Red Snowman》Sky with no stars

My other life has just begun.
I feel nothing between the moments of creeping anxiety.
All I remember was that dark figure, towering above me. Whoever it was, all my life I never learned anything but to serve it.
But it's gone.
I see birds soaring high in the sky, green leaves are rustling all around me.
Nobody to aid me through.
The unpleasant noise.
My bare feet wade across a wet grass field, sinking in the mud slightly.
[ . . . ]
It's raining, but I don't want to wake up.
This is but a shadow of my world.
Nobody is here, nobody ever was.
I'm all alone and tired of walking.
I always wondered - why were our bodies created to ache every minute?
Pain in every breath reminds me of things I would like to forget.
Like the wounds around my wrists, like the chains that bound me. They still do.
Like the cracks in the sky-tearing wall behind me. Narrow and pitch black.
It was my only way out.
[ . . . ]
I see bottles on a wooden fence.
Falling down, one by one. The wind blows without mercy.
Cold shivers, I'm trembling and shaking in silence.
Can anyone hear me knocking on the door?
Is anyone waiting?
No.
I close the door.
Even with the storm outside, it's calm here.
The shelves, cupboards, and wardrobe are empty.
It's abandoned.
As everything was.
Even the bed is only a frame.
I will just lie down, here, on the floor.
I really need no one, I do really need nothing.
I will just close my eyes and hope to just sleep.
It's all I've ever wanted, but the world never lets me rest.
[ . . . ]
My own, quiet, cozy, dark place.
Gone.
It's them. I am wanted back, they always forced me to believe that my home is back there.

In the binds.
I hear their laughter, while I carry out meaningless tasks until I have no strength to get up.
"You're free."
They say and laugh in my face.
[ . . . ]
It's her. The Queen.
I remember now. Her name, carved on my chest, it's like embers are under my skin.
Forced, to the knees.
"My child."
The voice is deep and resonates throughout entire chambers.
"You were taken away, like this."
I don't want to remember. Not, not yet.
"My dear love. This is your home."
I feel like... I'm about to faint...
"Child? Are you alright? You're too pale."
...
"Lift her."
The sole person responsible for it. I don't want to, I don't want to remember her name... leave me alone
But it's useless.
They apply their fancy aromatic powders, black mascara, paints... strip me down and force into their gaudy gown.
"You look a thousand times better, child."
I feel like trash.
"Please, do say something."
My lips open, but I can't utter a word. They tremble. I just realized all my life, I never learned to cry. If I could, I would collapse and do just that... but I can't, not in front of her. I have to stand and pretend that everything is alright.
"Child. I urge you, say something."
My throat is clogged up.
"Escort her to her room. Let her rest."
They take me, they take me away, again! No, not there. Please.
[ . . . ]
Caged in this cluttered chamber. I see her dolls, staring at me, watching and recording every second of my life. I see her paintings, reminding me of all my previous prisons.
I want to burn them, break everything.
I am 'free'.
What does that even mean?
"The banquet is ready."

They call me.
I do not wish to be there.
I can't even flinch, it's like I'm paralyzed, but I have to walk there. They won't start without me.
They won't forgive my absence.
There it is.
The blood is pouring out of goblets onto the floor as they are devouring their meat.
The queen is sitting right in front of me, she watches. She always watches.
"Are you not hungry, child?"
My shaking hand reaches for the bone, the putrid stench of death invades my nostrils.
I can't... I can't do that... not again, please, not again.
"Do eat."
Her other servants implore me. They too, don't want to be punished.
Bite after bite, he is swallowed and gone. What was his name? I do not know. Nobody does, nobody ever will.
[ . . . ]
Alone, in darkness, but their red, glowing eyes penetrate me.
The shadows are dancing on the walls, to keep me from forgetting that I'm trapped here.
Even If I escaped once, I'm kept from believing it'll happen ever again.
It gets harder every time.
How do I live on, with hope? How do I walk away, before all possibilities fade away?
Every tick of the clock reminds me how seconds, minutes, and hours of my life are wasted.
I can't move.
Can I do it alone? I ask for help every night, but no help comes.
It's all left to circumstances.
Surely, there must be more to life than that.
I need to run farther, and farther away, disregarding consequences, to a place where they can't find me.
[ . . . ]
The walls are like closing in on me. The great disturbance is ought to come and will be clearly heard at once, but when it happens, I will be long gone.
This time, nobody will find me.

Path of Righteousness
What do you desire? What are you afraid of? You run away from one, pursuing the other. Is that all you are? Conquer your fears. Dig to the bottom and confirm, what you really want... ...For you cannot escape suffering and death. You only have a little time. Use it wisely. Uru, a young boy with no talent for magic or fighting, sets out on a quest to become an avatar of order, the physical embodiment of righteousness, in a distant future, where control of origin energy allows people to defy physics and manipulate causality. Mocked by fate and broken by impossible dreams, all that's left is to stand in defiance to cruel existence. Because there is a Truth out there, somewhere. Singular, transcendent, eternal. What would you sacrifice for it? *** This is a fantastic sci-fi epic. It's going to blend both western and eastern traditional fantasy tropes – like might & magic and cultivation – with rational sci-fi grounded fully in reality, to produce a purely fictional fairy tale. I'd like to deliver something light-hearted and yet wholly serious. An uplifting adventure exploring the unfathomable reaches of humanity, free of indecency, with a healthy dose of humorous banter, legendary beings, and most importantly – lots of exciting, firework-filled mayhem! I've tried reading many web novels, but there's a fundamental problem with them – the eastern ones are annoyingly repetitive, superficial and morally destitute, while western ones are often dark, convoluted and profane. There's only so much one can do to filter out the bad and try to fill in the gaps with their own imagination. It's one thing to eat tasty fast food, but if it's moldy and filled with toxins, then it's not only poisonous, but also disgusting. The appreciation of beauty and higher values is disappearing at an alarming rate. Although there are throngs of talented people out there, none of them are creating what I want to witness – an inspiring battle against impossible odds, ending in absolute victory. A triumph of the spirit so overwhelming, it crushes the spectator into his seat and takes his breath away. I'm looking for a real paragon, so now I'd like to try conceiving one. *** The MC's name comes from Tolkien's Elven dictionary in Silmarillion, 'Uru' meaning 'Fire', and 'Dagnir an Uruloki' meaning 'Slayer of Dragons'. *** Note: I'm neither a native speaker, nor an aficionado of literature – I've never written anything before, and despite proficient English my literary prowess is abysmal. It therefore takes me a painful amount of effort to polish the chapters and bring them up to par. Last year I wrote and posted some on FictionPress, but I stopped since it wasn't going anywhere. The appalling amount of filth and mediocrity being peddled in all the media nowadays – a result of no conspiracy to manipulate the masses, but plain supply and demand – is no longer just the triumph of form over substance, but most worryingly corruption of the latter. Who wants to read about ideals anymore? And yet, masses flock together to gobble up perversion and depravity. That being said, I can't rule out pitiful exposure as the culprit to my failure, so I am now once again trying to increase it here, possibly for the last time. If there are still human beings present, hungry or in need of a detox after eating too much garbage, make yourselves heard, so I can see a reason to continue the story. Otherwise it's pointless – I'm not going to make fodder for the masses, and I'm most certainly not going to throw pearls before swine. I'll simply stop writing altogether.

Path of the Stonebreaker
Femira spent her life stealing scraps and looting corpses just to survive another day. When she stumbles upon the chance to steal another's identity, she thinks she's found the ticket to an easy life. But she soon finds the glamour of the runewielder's hall hides as much peril as the bloodslick streets. Can she steal the greatest prize of all, the knowledge to reshape the earth, and make it out alive? Abandoned by his abusive father at the far reaches of the world, Daegan may not have the powers of his ancestors but he refuses to die in banishment. Will he make it back home in time to prevent a brewing war? ------------------- This is a gritty drama-driven, rambling tale that presents mysteries early on that the characters work to unravel throughout the story. It swings between action, drama, and sometimes some darker comedy. Warning: A whole lot of profanity, alcohol, drugs, implied violence, actual violence and mega-violence—the kind that involves knives sliding into eye sockets and brains spilling onto floors—the usual stuff, scenes of intimacy, mercenaries, pirates, lots of moral ambiguity, including a wizard that likes to make tea with the heat sucked from his victim's bodies and a heap of world-ending monsters ready to eat people. _______________ Expectations: Updates every Monday and Thursday. Chapters will be between 2,000 and 5,000 words. I'm Irish and write in "Irish English" which is to say that I don't use much of the letter "z"

Instead, the Universe got an update. Witness the rise of the Order of the Free Wardens. Witness the rise of the council of races. Witness the legend of the Dreadnaught. Greetings, I am Zalex. And this is my first ‘Space Marine’ story, Some things I would like to note. All locations, weapons, unit designations, mention of franchises (under the protection of fair use laws), history, and so on is fictitious or used as reference only. Any likeness to real individuals or events or otherwise is merely coincidental. This novel has excessive language use, mild graphic and suggestive themes, mild alcohol use, and scenes of violence. An Extra-Ordinary Story about Ordinary People
In a different world, a different reality, where ordinary people occasionaly have extra-ordinary powers for no particular reason, we follow a number of characters, trying their best to live in this strange yet normal world. We have our first character, a currently nameless but sentinent creature who happened to find himself in the body of a strange fungus after an unknown incident that robbed him of not only his former body but of his memory, as well. Secondly, we follow Smith, a high-standing man who doesn't even need to explain which Smith he is, on top of the world, yet human enough to meet said fungus. And thirdly, we have another nameless character, who is burdened by the ability to summon things that he doesn't want. A charming gang, who will (most likely) meet at some point. --- All and all, it's a twist on the common super-hero world, where all super-heroes have somehow dissappeared, but not the possibility for new ones. The series that feature the mushroom-dude are the 123 ones, the stories that feature Smith are the ABC ones, and the ones that feature our newest character, the summoner-dude, are the abc ones. Neat, huh? Also, just a word of warning? The 123 ones are kind wierd, and you can skip the first few chapters and go straight to the ABC ones without missing too much. But I'd rather you didn't, since i really enjoyed writing them. In ABC and abc, the format changes to a more typical form, with proper grammar and stuff. So if you dont like the 123, I'd love it if you gave the ABC a chance :^) Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it!
