《The Red Snowman》The Alien with Six Arms
Advertisement
Far, far away, in one of the purple twirls, lived a lone, blue alien with six arms. It loved tinkering, collecting curios, and assembling them together to produce devices, which often had no purpose, but were rather like monuments of alien's creativity.
Of course, it didn't apply to all of the alien's creations, the creature made itself a hammock, a gigantic metal umbrella that protected the alien from harmful cosmic rays, and a whole house underneath.
The alien lived alone and knew no other aliens, but it was content with its style of living, as long as it had pieces of equipment to find and piece together, all in blissful silence, focused on his craft.
One day, the alien was working on the creation of a big guidepost, that would point at all purple twirls at the sky above, below, and around its home. The alien made the first arrow, the second and the third, fourth was no match to him, but at fifth, the alien overheard loud snoring.
The alien was irritated. It couldn't work in presence of such a racket.
However, albeit the anger was clearly visible on the alien's face, there was a hint of curiosity in agile, crawling movements of the alien's tail.
The alien moved closer and closer to the source of noise, which also gradually became louder and louder. The blue creature tossed aside scraps of metal and looked at the treasure beneath it.
It was a box, not too small, not too big. It had a purple antenna, a lot of buttons, switches, and sliders.
The alien carefully approached the box with its tentacle-like arms and hesitated. Was it safe to move the box?
It didn't know.
It touched the box with one of its fingers, but the box simply kept snoring.
Then, it moved to examine it with both hands. The box was as idle as before, constantly producing a snore.

That was it, there was no danger to it! - The alien thought to itself and grabbed the box under its arms, then returned home.
The blue creature prepared its beloved tools, a screwdriver, a saw, a pair of pliers, a wrench, a hammer, and a pair of scissors.
First, the alien would hit the box with its hammer.
'Clunk!'
But the box kept snoring.
Then, the alien would try to cut the antenna with pliers and scissors. At first, the antenna bent slightly, but it wouldn't budge at the alien's further attempts.
The alien decided to unscrew the buttons, but it couldn't find a slot for the screwdriver.
The snoring continued.
Alien's entire, large head turned red. The alien wouldn't stand it. The box not only distracted from inquiries and work, but it also would not surrender to any of the alien's favorite toys.
Angry, the alien started banging at the box with its wrench, making a few small dents.
It didn't bother the box, the box kept snoring.
The alien knew it was time to draw the line. It hated the sounds produced by the saw, but there was no other option.
Back and forth. Slow and fast. Patiently, elegantly, then with strength and passion.
The box gave up. It snored no more, there was a long hole in it.
The alien felt comfortable once again. It could focus on what was inside the box. It grabbed a colorful bundle of cables and looked at them.
They would allow to tie the guidepost's arrows together excellently. The alien left the box, satisfied, ignoring its other, chaotic and to him, non-intricate contents.
The alien thought that it would finish its arrow in peace, but as it was leaving, it overheard footsteps. The blue creature turned around and looked ahead. Just in front, was a creature in a black robe and with a pointy hat, holding the box.

The creature was angry at the alien, but the alien paid no attention to it and started screeching at what appeared like a monster, to let it know to go away. The alien was not scared.
The monster carefully left the box on the ground, puffing its cheeks in anger and disappointment. The monster turned on its heel and walked back to the void.
But something weird happened to the box after the monster touched it. Although its antenna was still bent and there were still dents in the box, together with a long, welded scar, the box was now repaired.
It didn't snore, but it started moving.
"Beep. Boop. Hello!" - The box spoke.
Alien's four eyes opened very wide as it uttered in low voice. - "Hello?"
"Friends?" - The box spoke and the alien became fascinated.
Now, the alien knew - it really wanted to know how the box works.
