《Encounters Out There》Truth

Far in the future …
An international space consortium set up the ACA (asteroid, comet, and alien) warning perimeter grid to guard the solar system's farthest entry points.
Two astronomers took remarkable 360-degree inner solar system snapshots within their allotted time.
"Has anyone considered turning them around to serve as a gigantic telescopic array to capture the entire visible universe?" asked Dr. Martha Swartz.
"No, but we should try it once," replied Dr. Frederick Simski. "However, it would consume valuable fuel."
…
Martha did so anyway and ran some calculations. "Fredrick, have a look at this!" She showed a translucent holographic display with stitched together images overlayed with her handwritten points of interest and calculations.
"That's remarkable, Martha. But you should have requested permission first. So, unfortunately, they'll need to send refueling drones sooner than expected. Hopefully, they won't question why."
"Fredrick, is that all you got from this? Don't you notice the overarching curvature at these points like a lens from a ….?"
"Shh!" Fredrick interrupted her, gesturing with a finger over his lips. "Never show this to anyone!"
"But, why?" Marsha frowned. "Shouldn't they know the truth?"
"Because Marsha, can you imagine the consequences? Society would fall into total disorder. Faithless people would wander around the Earth with no sense of spiritual morality or craving for discovery."
"But what about the truth, Frederick, isn't that more important?"
"Not really. To know our ultimate purpose would shatter our desire to exist. No matter how minuscule it is. Truth is a construct we created, but it's not something we really want to obtain. Seeking truth is a driving force behind our creativity, yet with the subtle hope of never actually finding it, but instead, what matters most is the process of creating it for ourselves."
"I guess you're right." Martha sighed. She then set her electronic holo-pen to erase mode.

That must make it good. Right? Character-focused, low-stakes, post-death upload. Hard system: if the stats say she loses a fight, she'll lose the fight.
