Aliens using advanced interstellar technology visited Earth.

Earth scientists asked them several questions, one of which was:

“Have you reached a technological singularity equal to your own intelligence?”

“No, that’s impossible.”

“Why?”

“Sentience is an expression of organic matter, a synergy of billions of years of evolution toward the ability to ‘create reality.’ Tools can only ‘mimic reality.’”

“But our AI produces music and art.”

“By your ‘human’ standards.”

“So AI will never be our equal?”

“No, it can never have a soul.”

“A soul?”

“Indeed, the ultimate expression of an organic, to forge a reality beyond its corporeal existence.”
