The ‘Survivors’

A spacecraft crashed on a planet.

For decades, the survivors thrived on an isolated paradise—with lakes and waterfalls, including flora and fauna for plenty of food and caves for dwelling.

They lit giant fires every day, hoping the smoke would attract a passing spacecraft overhead.

“Jan! A ship!” said a lookout.

Jan, their leader and a respected scientist, called for everyone to wave at the ship but warned them to avoid direct contact.

Once a crew arrived, the survivors hugged and kissed their rescuers.

The ship left for the nearest colony ...

The ‘survivors’ perished along their journey home.
