《Encounters Out There》Folding Space
Advertisement
Folding Space Dr. Mark Jacobson tried convincing the world he could solve interstellar travel by folding space. His technology would instantly access ends of the known universe, galactic travel, space colonization, or simpler tasks such as mining the nearest asteroid. The scientific community balked at Jacobson's proposed technology calling it impossible or catastrophically too risky. So he went rogue. He found an anonymous trillionaire investor willing to embrace his ideas. The professor developed a prototype interstellar folding drive but with considerable uncertainty. Activating it on Earth could haphazardly destroy the planet or the entire solar system. Fortunately for Jacobson, the trillionaire eyed space colonization on exoplanets. He sent the professor along with an experienced pilot and the interstellar spacecraft far into deep space beyond the solar system. ———— Before they left Earth's orbit ... The trillionaire radioed the professor ... "Professor, it's all yours. When you reach the heliopause, I ask that you aim your space folding drive at Proxima b, where there's hope you'll encounter intelligent life." "That makes sense. We'll do that for starters." Professor Jacobson spoke to Captain Susan Watson, an ex-astronaut and veteran fighter pilot. "Susan, deploy the tethers, engage the e-sail, and set the computer for an automatic Jupiter flyby to the heliopause ..." "Yes, sir, Professor." Susan and the professor entered bio-suspension chambers for a ten year cryosleep period. ———— Ten years later, they awoke ... "Professor, everything checks out. We're ready for stage two, interstellar travel." "Fantastic. Susan, set the folding drive for Proxima b at 100 femtosecond fluctuations to avoid gathering or crushing too much space debris." "Yes, sir. All set, Professor." "Susan, engage ..." The entire spacecraft spun and vibrated, and inside, the capsule heated up. "Susan, what's wrong? Why are we overheating?" "There's a power surge Professor. I'm trying to ..." ———— Through the ship's viewing portals appeared a slightly different star arrangement. Deep scans detected at an 'astronomically safe distance' a black hole's event horizon. On further scanning, Earth remained the same distance. So did the entire solar system. "What in the H did we do, Susan?" "Professor, calculations show the surge folded all of the space between our solar system and the destination." A signal transmitted from around Proxima b ... "Earthlings! Thank you!" "Who are you? How do you speak English?" asked the professor. "Telepathic technology ... We come from far away, but they enslaved us on this prison planet. You crushed the entire Volugaian Empire. How'd you do it? Oh no, where did that black hole come from? It's rapidly growing ... We're all getting pulled in."

Drinker of the Yew: A Necromancer's Tale
Updates Once a Week next update 10/5 Wracked with misfortune, a nameless village along the edge of the Gray Spine rejoiced at the arrival of a paladin. Those celebrations, though, turned to wary tension as the paladin brought an unknown into their midst - his wife Nayinis, who wears the markings of a necromancer. Who is this woman? Why has she come to their village? Nayinis divulges her shadowed past, for she needs the village's trust to defeat the powerful foe that she has been summoned by the divine to face. What to expect: This is a slow-paced, dark, epic-fantasy book written mostly in an archaic first-person style, remniscent of fariy-tale at times. I am expecting the final product to be close to 600-700 pages. The first few chapters introduce a somewhat-steep learning curve of names and mythology of the world that plateaus at aroud chapter 5. STAR WARS: THE TRANSMIGRATOR
Suddenly finding himself In a unknow place, he discovered that he is now living in the universe of Star Wars, thankfully the gods decided to help him by giving him a System and using it to the best of his abilities, he will one day stand at the peak, with power comparable to if not greater than that of those beings he always admired on the Star Wars legends! Accompany the adventure of Garrod Seafair as he travels the galaxy and makes his way through all the mess the Jedi caused over the course of the years! -------------------------------------------------- This is a just for fun project that I'm doing to pass some time, I was inspired to do it after reading a really good fanfiction that someone started to write in another platform, I basically used his same idea of initial settings, that being the Jedi temple, and I used part of his System but with some modifications. Read his fanfiction as well if you can, its name is "Force user supplementary system", he published it in webnovel. Two Existentialists | S.R.
"How many existentialists does it take to screw a lightbulb?" Spencer asked with a small laugh. Once again the room was silent. You faintly heard Agent Rossi mutter, "Don't.""2. One to change the light bulb and one to observe how it symbolizes an incandescent beacon of subjectivity in a netherworld of cosmic nothingness," he said. The room was silent still, until you laughed. His eyes looked up at yours in confusion. "Wouldn't they sit in the dark and hope that the bulb decided to light again? An existentialist would never change the bulb. He would allow the darkness to exist," you questioned.-#1 #spencerreid#1 #mgg#1 emilyprentiss
