《Experiment 636》Chapter 9- Numb

Nothing had meaning anymore. Why keep going? It had to end at some point but when? When does the pain leave?

636 didn’t move. Couldn’t move. There were so many restraints on her. So many chains.

She couldn’t bring herself to care. Sometimes she pretended they were the hands of people who cared for her trying to comfort her. But the chains always grew too cold to keep that illusion.

How long has it been?

She thought nightmares were supposed to end once you woke up. But hers just kept going. Replaying in her mind.

She clenched her fists so hard it drew blood. Was this what Seth felt? The physical pain of something breaking the skin or did he just feel nothing when it happened.

When was the last time she slept?

It’s hard to know when she couldn’t even tell if she was awake or not.

Cold. Why was it so cold?

The sound of the cell door opening echoed through her ears. A plate was placed in front of her. Dr.Willow held up a piece of bread for her to eat but she still didn’t move.

Sighing, Dr.Willow ran a hand down his face. “You have to eat at some point. Just because you can survive longer than the average person without food, doesn’t mean you should.”

Survive. What a funny word. It implied she wanted to live.

636 shook her head. She didn’t want to eat. Food would just give you something to throw up.

Footsteps echoed through the empty cell as Dr.Willow left. Why were his steps so loud?

Blinking was starting to become exhausting, so 636 closed her eyes. Maybe when she opened them, she’d finally wake up seeing that this was all a bad dream.

Yeah. Just a bad dream.
