《Al-Mos... Qui-t-o Live A Second Life》Chapter 4: Unforgettable Memories

'I still felt sorry about him, but I don't have a choice. And besides, it's his choice after all!'
I continued to walk around the forest to try to leave the memory that will surely hunt me if I remain there while trying to figure out what the system had just said.
'Hey, why do I have the head part? Isn't it should be a back as well?'
'No. The host can only obtain a certain part of any form it defeated.'
'Oh... I get it. Anyways, can you tell me again what's my current stat right now?'
'Name: Grey Dy
Level: 1.8
Able to mimic: Spider's back (able to shoot with poisoned web) Time limit: 10 minutes and Spider's head ( able to bite any tough skin)' Time limit: 10 minutes.'
'That's good news. Well, Transform!'
An uncomfortable feeling once again happened in my body as my proboscis that I used to suck blood started to swell and integrated with my head.
A strong headache attack me that left me unconscious and I just woke up after who knows how long.
Dizzy eyesight was replaced by an eight clear view while I can feel that I now have sharp teeth and a mouth.
'Woah, this feels amazing! It feels like I'm totally a spider and not a mosquito anymore if not for my legs and wings.'
I try my new parts and get used to them as soon as possible while still walking non-stop until I saw a large frog that was leaping through the grass.
The frog has fat legs and a huge head with bulging eyes as if was about to jump from its socket and a long tongue that quickly wound around its prey.
I slowed down my pace and tried to get closer to the frog that was trying to catch some cricket since I want to test out my biting skill.
The frog seems to not able to notice me and let me bite its back.
The frog was surprised by the sudden pain in its back and jump to another place while shaking its body.
My teeth were indeed sharp as the skin of the frog was easily beaten as if tofu and blood start to ooze out, which then I suck.

The blood was as disgusting as the spider but the frog sensed something wrong and was about to take action.
I panic at the thought that I might get caught by its long and durable tongue as I quickened my pace while piercing my legs on its skin, so to not be shaken off.
The frog escape some miserable growl as it leap non-stop while trying to catch me until it also calmed down.
The frog might have been weakened due to the loss of blood since I already suck half of its blood, and I feel too full that my swollen back seems to be swollen a bit again.
I used my back to shoot webs around the body of the frog to lose all the nutrients I have just devoured and once again suck the remaining blood.
The frog can't jump anymore since it gets weak and exhausted, and in addition to the poison that I constantly shoot out, that paralyzes it bit by bit, thus killing it become much easier.
The growl seems to get weakened as well as time passed by, and when the time limit of my new parts come to end, I was able to finally kill the frog as a white memory enter my mind again.
I get used to this suddenly blurred vision and this white memory becomes my basis if I truly kill the prey or not.
A clear pond enter my vision as I tried to jump for the first time to a nearby stone, but since I'm still a beginner, my legs were still soft and my control over my body was still not that strong, making me fall a bit short than my target spot, and splashed water to my mother that was guiding me.
I try to do that again and again until I was finally able to successfully leap through the stone.
The view changed and I saw myself looking at a beautiful frog that my mother introduced to me.
Since the pond has a small number of frogs and was almost filled with fishes and other sea creatures, the frog clan seems to be a bit concerned so, I, who was the only remaining male, got paired up with a girl frog even with such a young age.

The memories change as I tried to increase the frog population by sipping with countless female frogs, until one day, I met a girl who I truly like.
The memory changed again, as I finally got together with the female frog I like, and tried to impress her since she was about to give birth to our children.
'Froggy, I want to eat crickets.' the female frog asked affectionately which melted my heart.
'If it's for my wife, I'll do everything.'
'You're as sweet as ever. I love you.. my husband.'
The request of my wife was not that difficult so I immediately went on the field to catch some crickets.
The memory turns to what just happened earlier and was getting killed by me.
'Ple..ase... can.. you.. at least... give this.. crickets to my... wife?' the frog seems to have known that it was about to die so it tried to say that with all the remaining strength he had before showing its tongue with numerous crickets on it.
I was struck by that, and I momentarily become unfocused and lost my cool.
I back away from the frog due to the strange feeling, maybe guilt and anxiousness, and vomit the blood that I was about to suck.
My body, which at the wrong timing changed back into its original state, and become as weak as a half death.
I look at the frog who seems to have tears in its eyes, and to the crickets that laid death on its tongue.
A memory of agonizing and grief was remembered that I tried to forget as possible as I can, but why.. why did it need to remind me again?
I... I didn't know anything... I'm clueless and ignorant... I'm a fool and poor... so.. it's not my fault, right?
No.. why.. why did it need to remind me again of that unforgettable moments?.... Why make me feel.. like I'm a monster and not a human.. anymore?! I.. I just do what I think was right at that time, so.. how.. how does it becomes my fault?
'Give me back my wallet!' A familiar voice of a middle-aged man resounded in my ears, as the scene unfolded.
A skinny youth, with ragged clothes, and a dirty face was stealing the wallet of an ordinary old man who still fight with the youth.
The place was in a secret alley and people seldom passed by, so the youth, after glancing all around, took out a knife from its dirty shorts before stabbing the man.
The man was rendered helpless, and blood continue to splatter all around the road, and the man fell.
The youth was just carried away by the situation, so when the scene cross his eyes, he.. he trembly back away and let go of the bloody knife he was holding and stumble.
The wallet that have a small amount of money, which made the crime happen, was thrown away from both figures.
The man who was stabbed, even when he only has his last breath and strength, finds the youth and speaks.
"Please... please.. buy my daughter.. a pres..sent. She.. must..have been... waiting for me.. all night. I beg you.."
The youth can't believe what he has just done, and tears unconsciously flow out of his eyes, as grief struck him.
The youth heard the last wish of the man, and did it, and get sad and guilty after seeing the cute little girl patiently waiting at a wrecked door and house, with her mother.
The girl was genuinely happy when she received such a gift as if she gets priceless gold and it shattered the heart of the youth.
'Why?! Why?! Why.. do I such to go through.. this cruel.. life?! I.. I just want to have an.. ordinary life.. that's all... even just an ordinary life and nothing else.. but why?!... Why is the world so.. unfair?! Why are there... people who have such a good life?! Why.. why me?!'
'Congratulations to the host for killing an ordinary frog. Able to obtain part of the frog that can mimic: mouth. Host level increased by 0.6'

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
