《That Time I Got Reborn In Another World With My Black Friend》Chapter 1: I'm Not Supposed To Be Here

The boba place Will and I entered was really weird looking. Like I couldn't see anything that resembled a boba shop. All I could see were some aurora lights above me and below me my reflection. It was like the whole floor was made of glass or was a giant mirror and all I could see was emptiness in every direction. I decided that this must be one of those millennial boba places where they have a weird gimmick. Like instead of waitresses in maid outfits this place decided to go with some weird space-like design. Is this what kids are into nowadays? Are they into space and empty voids? I'm 20 but feel like I'm going on 76. I want my social security already.
"Oh, hey Quincy".
I turned around and saw that it was me amigo Will.
"Oh hey Will" I said. "Do you know how the heck to order boba here?"
"I don't know I was going to ask you. All I know is that this place has a weird gimmick of...something."
"I think they're going for a new age space look. I think the kids are into that."
"Oh nice."
We decided to keep walking and eventually we saw a little girl in front of us smiling who must be the cashier. She looked strange though because she had a black and purple Victorian dress on. What was even stranger was that she also had a jester's hat on. The left half was purple and the right half was black. I didn't care that this place probably violated a bunch of child labor laws, I was just happy to order some boba.
"Hi, I'll have honey milk tea with boba" I said.
"Yeah, and I'll have a taro milk tea" added Will.
"Wait, what?" she replied.

"I SAID HONEY MILK TEA! I'M GONNA USE MY DEBIT CARD!" I yelled right in front of her face.
The poor girl must be hard of hearing. I can't believe someone made this poor girl dress up in a weird outfit to serve boba but the reviews said this place was good so I'm not going to judge, the word of Yelp is absolute afterall. Anyway I gave her my debit card. She just held it with this confused look on her face. Sweet Jesus they never taught her how to use a chip reader.
"Wait, hold on, I think you two are confused," she said, handing my card back.
"Ah I see this place is cash only, my bad. Hey, you got any cash I can borrow?" I asked Will.
"Ugh, ok, but only this one time and you're gonna owe me," he answered.
The girl interrupted before Will could give me 4 bucks. Guess I'm not ordering first.
"Ok I'm just gonna stop you two idiots right now before I have an aneurysm. You two are dead,"
Will and I looked at each other. How could I be dead? I don't remember dying at all. Like I know I'm unhealthy but it's not that bad.
"Hey do you remember dying?" I asked.
Will thought for a moment and then said, "Well, I do remember hearing a truck but the next thing I knew I was here so I thought I just zoned out"
Before I responded I noticed girl in front of us looked really concerned ike she just realized she left the oven on.
"Wait. Wait wait wait wait wait. There's not supposed to be two of you" she muttered.
She turned around, started pacing back and forth mumbling to herself.
"Which one of you is William?" she asked.

"Um, I'm Will. How do you know my name?" Will questioned in return. She didn't respond, looking straight at me.
"Then who are you?" she asked me, sounding disdainful.
"B*tch who the f*ck is you?" I shoot back.
I didn't realize that this girl was gonna have an attitude. I just came here trying to buy some boba and now I got a loli cashier who can't use a chip reader. She looked really mad but it was obvious she was trying to hold it in. She wanted to say something but it looks like getting a bad yelp review is holding her back. She closed her eyes and inhaled and exhaled very loudly.
"I'm Viena. I'm one of the goddesses from the land of Westphalia. The people of that land did a ritual to summon a hero to fulfill one of their prophecies. I decided to grant it and give them a warrior. I was not supposed to have two of you here" she said
"Ohhh I get it, this place is a fantasy themed boba restaurant--I got it." I realized.
"NO THIS ISN'T A RESTAURANT YOU ARE LITERALLY IN THE REALM OF A GODDESS" she yelled.
"Wow. She's really devoted to her role" said Will.
"Oh my god, I summoned idiots. Look William, I made a deal with your God to kill you so that I can send your soul to Westphalia to become their hero"
"Wait so I'm getting transported to another world?" said Will.
Will got this excited look on his face. I think the prospect of not going to class anymore is very appealing. Now I don't have the heart to tell him this is all an act.
"Yes, I'm transporting you to another world. I asked your God who would be someone he would be perfectly fine without, and he said you--so congratulations. The other one isn't supposed to be here though. You two must have been walking next to each other when I ran you over with the truck. Ugh, I can't return him though because I only made a deal to take one life. If I return the other one then your God will find out, and then I would have broken one of the God laws," she said. I didn't really know what was happening but she called me "other one," so I'm offended and inclined to give a bad review on the internet. If this is how we're going to do things, I can go somewhere else. You know how many boba places are near college campuses? Like two.
"Then can I take my friend with me? Hey, Quincy you don't mind living in another world for the rest of your life, right?" asked Will. This poor man. Doesn't he know this is like the Medieval times restaurant, but a lot worse?
"Sure, Will I'll go with you" I said.
I was wondering how this show was gonna end and when I'll actually get my boba.
"Ok. I guess I have no other choice. William--go fulfill your destiny as a hero!" she exclaimed
"And you can just be there I guess idk you'll figure it out" she added, looking at me.
I saw a portal open up, it was honestly a really good special effect. The portal must be like a fancy door that leads to our table or something.
"Oh sweet come on Quincy this is gonna be great" Will said.
I just shrugged and went through the portal with him.

8 177Ira’s Faithful
[On Hiatus due to health reasons] Synopsis: Fate has plans for everyone. There are many paths one can walk and many nodes one can unlock. Yet all mortal souls only start with one node. This has been the case for many years and while there are some records of people with more than one first node, these are as rare as wings on snails, roses made of air, or ropes made of dragon-hair. Elise Anker has two first nodes. She doesn't know why and the only one that could answer is an angry voice in her head. She hears it rarely and the voice is as helpful as a sword is effective against a Leviathan. She strives to become a mage, a knight or maybe something else entirely. The future is uncertain and unless she finds out what her nodes mean, she will never know what she wants to become. But her nodes won't unlock and the angry voice tells her that she needs to find a worthy foe to kill. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. 8 175The Big Yoink: A Smol Detective Story
This is another fanfic set in the universe of They Are Smol, a delightful series of stories which you should totally go read right now if you haven’t. It’s a sequel to my own The Smol Detective. In this story, Oscar Williams and his adopted alien family have to determine the guilt or innocence of another human and her two alien friends. The trio stands accused of stealing a sacred relic, and if it isn’t found soon an ancient religious cold war could turn very hot indeed… Formal Disclaimer Type Thing: I do not take credit for the original setting, this story is set in an alternate version of the 'They are Smol' universe, written by the one, the only u/tinyprancinghorse. TPH takes many forms and is known by many names. He is like Nyarlathotep, only smaller and cuter and more prancey. TPH also has a Website should you require more Smol Shenanigans in your life. Which you do, so get over there and read it. The cover art for this sequel again comes courtesy of the mighty Akella, and they deserve lots of headpats from giant aliens because they are awesome.

Additional chapters will come haphazardly since I am juggling another story. And now that I am doing this, I suddenly realize that I need to research a lot of the sports and this may or may not affect the speed of delivery for the next chapters.
