"Ahhhh Damn where is he, he's 15 minutes late already," I said as I impatiently awaited my friend on a hot day.
Today was just one of those days, those average painstakingly tiring days where you just wanted to get in bed and be useless. Even so, there's got to be merit in spending time with a friend getting boba after finals.
"Heeeeeeeeeey, Will." Then, I hear it, the unmistakable call of my very unique black friend.
"Quincy, what took you so long, it's already been half an hour already," I say with an irritable tone in my voice.
"Yeah, sorry, the judicial board meeting was getting heated since this one guy was pushing his stupid agenda on the topic we were debating and we went longer than expected," Quincy states.
"Never mind that lets just get boba already, I'm so thirsty I might die," I sighed.
Little did I know how much of a jinx those words turned out to be that day.
"Ok, so there's this shop that sells this really cool anime merch and I really want to check it out," I exclaimed.
"We just have to cross this next street and we'll reach it." Quincy responds
"Ok, then why not, I have a few hours before I have to write down my opinion for the case I'm working on right now."
As we cross I feel the sudden change of wind and a brief glance to my left. The sudden but disastrously loud noise of a truck's horn. It was at that moment, that singular moment of carelessness that it happened. The event that would forever change our lives.

They'll waste their entire lives trying to find their so-called passions and reasons for living, acting as if they truly rule the way their lives go, supposed "controllers of their own destiny." Yet, they cannot evade the inevitable visit from death, who stands next to them, ticking the seconds down until their demise.
