《I'm the Best Rune Programmer in a New World!》Chapter 36: A Rather Simple Premise...

It didn't take me long to get back to the Fierce Boar inn. When I got there I noticed Dob and Lob asleep near the door.
They must've fallen asleep while keeping watch, it is pretty late after all. I wonder if I should just let them sleep or wake them up so that they can sleep in their beds. I know from experience that sleeping in a bad position can mess you up for a bit and I doubt it's that comfortable. I'll just put some blankets over them.
I walked over to Dob and Lobs' room and grabbed the covers off of their beds. Then I walked back out to the entrance of the Inn and lay the soft covers over them.
Aw. They look kinda cute like that. I'm never gonna say that to their face though. I'm not into them anyway it's just an unbiased observation.
With that done I went to my room and slid under the covers. I fell asleep instantly. I woke up the next morning rather late as it was almost noon by the time got up. Even though I'd slept in late I still felt a little groggy as evidenced by the fact that I'd tried to put clothes on over the ones I'd already been wearing. I hadn't taken my clothes off before going to bed last night, that's how eager I was to get into bed.
Hopefully, Dob and Lob are up. They went to bed earlier than me so they should be up. I should just read up on the next mission we're doing since we have to start a new mission today. Well, we don't have to but I'd like to figure out the ABW's plan quickly before it gets put into motion.
Taking the next mission from the pile of papers I read over the details. All the mission said was to go around taking out gangs and other lowlifes while blaming it on Whitebridge when possible.

This is a bit surprising. It seems rather simple. I can't count on it being easy though. Gangs are a whole different thing compared to something like those three scum that were being overly territorial about their alley.
Now informed about what we'd be doing for the rest of the day I walked out to the main area. I saw that Dob and Lob were already up and had likely been for a while since the covers I'd taken from their room to cover them were gone.
I walked over to them. They seemed to be having a chat with Pepper who seemed to be doing most of the talking since there's only so much you can convey with simple hand gestures.
"Good morning Pepper and Dob and Lob!"
"Morning Jameson!"
Dob and Lobs gave me a thumbs up.
"Oh yeah, Pepper you won't be bothered by those guys anymore."
"Thanks so much, Jameson! You're amazing!"
"Ah well thanks Pepper", I said blushing slightly at the compliment.
I've gotta get better at taking compliments. I wish I knew why I don't like getting big compliments. It's literal praise after all. I find it kinda weird that I don't like it but then again who isn't weird. Nevermind I can think of a few people. Ah, whatever.
"Ok, so Dob and Lob I figured out our mission for today. We're gonna be upscaling from those three alley scum from last time. Today we're going to try to take out a whole gang!"
Dob and Lob gave me a thumbs up while Pepper looked slightly worried.
"A whole gang?! That's... I mean I guess it couldn't be that much harder than whatever you did last night but it's still a whole gang!"
"Don't worry Pepper. We've got this."

Dob and Lob gave Pepper an encouraging thumbs-up.
"Ok then. You guys have fun. I'm expecting you to return in one piece okay?"
"Yes ma'am!", I said jokingly.
Pepper blushed, causing me to chuckle.
"In all seriousness Pepper don't worry we'll be fine. I promise."
I should be able to keep that promise. I am a Rune Programmer after all and Dob and Lob are no pushovers.
So after having a delicious granola breakfast and filled with mostly earned confidence Dob, Lob, and I stepped out of the Inn and went to look for a gang.
Most criminals should already be in a gang so we just need to find some more criminals and then have them take us to their headquarters or whatever and we should be good.
I decided that we should stick with the strategy we'd used previously which was to just wander around in sketchy alleys and places since sketchy places usually meant sketchy people. So we went from alley to alley and eventually we found some people.
"Hey, you guys. Give us your stuff", a gruff voice said.
"Yeah do it", another voice pitched in.
We turned around and saw 5 people behind us. We'd just passed the halfway point of the alley we were currently in.
Well, at least these guys are smarter than the other criminals we've met and brought the numbers advantage. Unfortunately for them having a two-person advantage isn't enough of an advantage considering I have a literal flying dagger and Dob and Lob are basically fighting masters.
"Oh and what if we don't?", I responded.
"Well, then we'll have to take it by force and teach you a lesson after that."
"Ok then. Let's dance."
Dob and Lob knew that we were about to start fighting so they wasted no time pulling out their daggers and launching toward the robed thieves. They responded by pulling out their weapons which also happened to be daggers. I pulled out my dagger and quickly modified its Rune Programming.
Then as I ran the program it flew from my hand and attempted to cut all of the guys' Achilles tendons. For the sake of speed and my rune capacity and since there were 5 guys this time I had to cut some corners so while most of the guys only got their Achilles tendons severed others got their feet cut clean off.
Dob and Lob had stopped their attacks temporarily to let my dagger make it easier for them so after it was done crippling them Dob and Lob resumed their attacks. The thugs quickly had their weapons taken away.
"If any of you guys run you've seen what I can do with my dagger. Next time I'll aim for the head. Got it?"
They all nodded afraid of my flying dagger.
"We have some questions for you. Where can we find your gang? And don't even try to tell us you're not in one because we know you are."
Hopefully, they don't know we're bluffing. How are we supposed to know that!
It took a bit of dagger twirling to get them to tell us the location of the gang's headquarters but they eventually caved under our combined intimidation.
Time to go take out a gang.

The Order of Sekhmet
Meet Rowan who may or may not be really enthusiastic about telling you how his life is with the goddess of war. It is naturally far from being peaceful, but the blade-wielding, fourth-wall-breaking protagonist certainly wouldn't have it any other way. Egyptian deities? Check. Sword fights? Check. Demonic arts? Check. Burning passion? Check. After all, blood is a good moisturizer. Please note that I have flagged my content. There is and will be content that may trigger you, particularly if you've been through toxic relationships. While I do my best not to paint these moments in the best light, they exist and are crucial parts of my story. Things are kicked up a notch beginning with chapters named 'The Old World'. Everything before is (nearly) vanilla. Update schedule is every Thursday/Friday, varying times!

Despondent Divinity
There exists a Great Seal which split the world in two, one half ravaged by the Darkness, the other a safe haven of Light. Since the collapse of the old world, 20,000 years have passed, and the world watches on as their only protection from the Plague of Plagues slowly dissipates. Only the strong may survive the oncoming Demon horde, and the forgotten prince, Jack Calmira, fears he may not have what it takes. In a world where weakness is punished by death, what are weak men to do? Author's Note: Expect a chapter or two every month, but I'll get faster eventually. This story isn't a Wuxia, but it has a lot of eastern influence. The MC isn't OP and is flawed. Less action, more character driven. Constructive criticism would be appreciated as it's my first story. Chinese culture has inspired a lot of the novel, but much of it is an amalgamation of different cultures, some made up and some not. Think Xianxia + Shounen with a mix of western and eastern fantasy elements.
