《Earthside Consortium》Chapter 79: The Rolling Future

It was quite amusing to look at the notice sent by the pair. Gaston and Janna, the Exemplars that survive most of the round of experiments and hunting.
They were a strong pair that worked under the radar. It was only later on when they completed the Breaker Formula that they found out that they were still alive. They were serving under the remains of the Catalan Special Forces, Diable and Senyora.
They worked to cleanse the mutates off Catalan for most of their service time. Did black ops around the European Union to purge the mutates. They were the number one cleaners and had built quite a rap with the consortium and the United Earth Defense Force.
Jakob took a glance at their document.
“They are proficient. What if they really run away?”
“Then that’s that. Forcing these two from doing work without their consent is asking for suicide. I doubt that they are loyal to the Company, but they wouldn’t carelessly reveal information that our enemies won’t get anyway.”
Jakob behaved as if he still didn’t understand.
“Think of them as a part that we keep as extra precaution. There are parts in this world that we can’t control and they are one of them.”
“That’s not like you.”
“Gaston Hardy is impassive most of the time. Janna Foster has a lot of friends. The two specialized in clearing people and mutates. They are quite effective.”
“I worry about the Disruptor we are deploying.”
It wouldn’t be long until the Disruptor that they were planting all over the planet were going to form this global net. The production of these disruptors were part of a long scheme devised by a madwoman who wanted to get rid of the ichor. To the Breakers it would turn them semi-normal while for the monsters it would affect their systems.
Think of the disruptor as this means to an end. A way for the people of the planet of earth to survive the coming years. Jakob had noticed it as well. The influx of this ichorium, the SPARTICLE that had been discovered had made a mess of their world.
You cannot take away the Breaker Formula from the people. Getting rid of the monsters, the biomass entities were nothing more than a pipe dream for some.
But they can limit them through the Disruptor that they were planting all over the world. Each node created a net of disruption until a safe zone was established.
There were protestors, concerned breakers, reporters, and citizens who were weary of this new system. And in some way they were right about it. This new system will impose a strict control of the flow of ichor in the air. It was a gun law made to holster the guns of the Breakers and at the same time keep them in check.
Most of the implementations all over the known continents have been successful. It was established by politicians and parliaments who were eager to allow this system. Of course, most of the opposition was in the Americas where they were too concerned about the loss of their freedoms. It’ll take years for them to accept this new system.

America was the hardest to convince. But as long as the world keeps on repeating the mantra that this was their salvation. They would unknowingly shift their minds into believing that it was right.
Make them believe that they are wrong for not doing what their government tells them to do. That they were harming the society and further disrespecting the people that had died. It was hard to change the minds of people. It was easier to let them do it for themselves. Because once they believe that they are right. Then they’d try to stick to that opinion.
The rest were going to be handled easily. The bigger the public opinion was on one side, the higher the chances that they’ll turn to the most popular opinion so they would fit in.
Humans follow their leaders. They follow the biggest self-righteous and loudest crowd. The silent ones were easy to convince with data and information that had been leaked purposely to control their opinion in supporting the Disruptor’s Peace Pact.
Why wouldn’t YOU support a system that would allow people to live freely?
Or do you enjoy seeing people get eaten, chewed, and vomited by these monsters?
All kinds of discussions were going around. Podcasts, rants, and video essays on how it should be done. They even purchased companies to work the world into going this direction. Bots and shills who were eager to tell the world into believing that this was the right path for them.
To them it was the right path. But what they didn’t know is that behind the scenes, the civilians are going to have less access to their breaker abilities. They will be as healthy as one, but they’ll need permission to use their abilities. Activating their abilities would mean that they would be recorded and anything that the collar would deemed to be harmful would engage the collar to neutralize the ability of the person to use his breaker powers.
Mercenaries, Soldiers, and Agents were exempted from this protocol built wonderfully by the madwoman who made the device. The world might have ended for them once. And now they weren’t going to abandon that unless they get a privilege from the one trying to cuff them. The exception was made secretly only for those who attended the meetings. Mercenaries and Soldiers. Politicians and their bodyguards who were approved to have the exception of having this device part of their bracers.
There was a lot of money moving in. And the big picture here was that they were planning to create a society that would allow them to travel from planet to planet without spending millions on creating a ship for interplanetary travel.
The Disruptor’s Peace was only a step one to this process. The real money comes from the building of a solar highway where the split-realm ships would be able to follow the coordinates that were given to jump.
Although they have managed to procure the device that allows them to intently travel to their desired location. It worked by carving a tunnel through the split-realm and shortening it.

In the vast distance of space that was an impossible task. There were little references they could find to extend the range of the device and so they had to make do with a solar highway.
Each node would provide this point where the split-realm could travel to. It was a complex plan made by people who were eager to start a new business centered around the planet of Mars.
The Lady could clearly tell that there was going to be a new change, a bigger one as the planet earth tries to send generation ships to Mars to jump start the population. Although they were able to terraform the planet. It was still hot and whatever they did had changed half of Mars into a still ocean.
Though most of the territory on Mars was still subject to debate. There were many movements on Mars as well. Schemers who were trying to make Mars their playground. 195 countries could double in the next century. There could be Mars-borne humans who disagree with earth-centered powers.
The biggest problem would be that there might be a war between planets. But the problem was that the billions of people on earth could outnumber the Martians.
Still, that’s why they were trying their hardest not to import nuclear warheads on Mars in fear of them sending a guided rocket from the Martian soil to Earth.
It was a complicated matter. But the Babaika Company was not interested in the governance of the two planets. Most of the people who were interested in this idea had always been after the promise of profit.
Mars is the new frontier for the human race. And if they are able to create a solar highway. They could possibly rule the solar system and even go beyond it.
The relays would slingshot the split-realm ships to their destinations. They could start creating business out of mining asteroids or harvesting the resources of inhabitable planets with the use of Breakers who are able to endure the harsh conditions.
The Breaker Formula was nothing more than a start for the possible formulas they could create. To modify the DNA of the human race to suit the places that they were heading into. Technology could only do much and even though the materials from the split-realm allowed them to create new equipment and materials.
It was not enough. The ichor was not as reliable. At best they’d be cars without fuel. Guns without the ammunition to make use of their ichor-mutated abilities.
The dreams of others were grand. But the Lady and her Company had always been after the promise of profit. The world worked by having money in their pockets, wallets, and bank accounts. Only through the promise of wealth that industries function and workers work.
Earth was getting dangerous. The exploitation of the natural resources of the planet was running dry. And the existence of the monsters have turned Earth into a place where the dominant race are constantly afraid of the dangers of the Ichor and the Biomass Entities that would appear out of tears in space.
She had made a profit out of using these people and moving her wealth to certain places. It was through this that she was able to move up to places. To create a company that supplies ichorium to wealthy industries and also provides protection.
With enough money and connections she was able to ride this wave of changes while doing nothing but assisting. She wasn’t bothered by the two who were part of the United Earth Defense Force and the Earthside Consortium. If anything she was glad that they were around to make it easy for her.
She liked competent people. She liked surrounding herself with people who were able to arouse her competitive spirit. People who were able to do amazing things and let them work for her.
She had toiled for this to happen. She spent the last years investing and connecting with people who were able to double her fortune. And that investment wasn’t for nothing.
Jakob who was scrolling through the documents could only shrug at her brilliance. It was not that she was a genius of such caliber. But it was simply how her fortune went to the right places at the right time.
“I guess we’ll allow them their paid leave.”
He marked the data pad. The Lady walked to her desk and leaned back on the backrest of her chair.
“We still need the connections that they have within the UEDF and the Consortium. They are valuable personnel and their competency is hard to acquire. You want people like them on your side even if they don’t do anything. We’ll call them for favors once in a while… and besides Mister Hardy and Miss Foster were hard workers. They did quite a lot in their short stay with us. They are diligent workers who are able to do what needs to be done.”
“Yeah, I’m glad that he's a peaceful man.”
“He did some quality work for us and besides. Do you really want someone like that to go?”
“Not really.”
“Exactly. We keep them around because once they do work. They are useful to us.”
“How long will it take for that net to be done?”
“A month. It’ll be a layer of protection for the world. Hmm, I do think that it would be nice to get some peace without some belua ruining the day. Don’t you want that, Jakob?”
“I do, ma’am.”
She looked at the screen. The construction for the disruptor’s net was proceeding without problems. With half of the world working on it and her mercenaries protecting the nodes. It wouldn't be long until the disruption zone will be created.
