《Tribe of fang》Chapter 9

That night I didn't sleep much, just dozing off here and there. Most the night I just layed by the fire watching each ember extinguish.
At first I didn't understand why I was staring at the fire. Something was just off about it…
As I watched the flame dance across the burning wood I couldn't help but notice but by dancing across the logs the small fire left burning embers that spread rapidly until all the wood was a blaze. Devouring everything around it. After a few hours its once large pile of wood was now small. And the once greedy flame now small and starved.
The morning light soon filled the cave. There was no need for the fire anymore it's a good time to practice... Putting a paw closer to the fire. I tried imagining the ice I summoned from before. Taking a deep breath in, I tried focusing a small amount of power into my paw. I could feel the [Second Heart] in my chest beat faster pushing something small through my veins. Slowly pushing its way down my arm.
It had a cool feeling as it traveled through my body making everything around it relax. As it pooled in the end of my paw I could feel the second heart beat slow down until it was almost unnoticeable again.
It's just like pouring a tea kettle… slowly. Taking another deep breath in, I slowly release the stored power in my paw. It quickly spreads around the fire before silently extinguishing, freezing everything in its path.

~ Through constant use of [Inspection] has reached level 2.
Huh i wonder how it got better. All have to figure out some stuff later.
Looking over at the fire pit it was completely encased in solid ice. It's a pretty efficient way to hunt. Its silent and it kills very effectively. Having a closer look at the ice it was almost completely visible. Touching the ice with my paw it was cold but I could feel the warm sensation that was once in my body…

If i can feel it…
Closing my eyes once again I inhaled. I pictured sucking in all the mana I just used back and instead of bringing it back into my second heart. I started pushing it around in my body. Following the veins in my body until mana ran side by side with my blood. After cycling one time through my body I could feel the faint pulse of the second heart. I started sending the same magic throughout my blood over and over again.
The heartbeat steadily got stronger until it was almost in perfect sync with my normal heart. But unlike my normal heart it was producing small quantities of mana and pushing them through my veins. Within seconds I could feel large amounts of mana filling my body. Seconds after shooting pain rose throughout my whole body I started violently coughing until I spat out some black liquid that smelled terrible.
After focusing again the mana in my veins started running stably with my blood both my hearts were beating at the same rate.

~ Mana Manipulation (Interal) has been acquired
[Inspection]
Mana Manipulation (Interal)
-Using your [Second Heart] to produce mana inside your body and forcing it to move alongside your blood reinforcing your organs, veins and bones.
-Magic that's stored inside the body can be used in emergency cases or against seals that restic magic in the air.
Huh, I guess that's useful. I haven't seen sealing magic yet though. And I wonder how [Inspection] leveled up. Everything looks the same.
After a few more minutes of messing around with my magic I ended up really tired. To the point I almost passed out. But through messing around with my ice magic I started to get the hang of it a bit more, being able to easily push the mana through my body making it even faster than before.
Now that I think about it, all the fantasy books I used to read said something about your mana usage causing sleepiness… I can't seem to remember it though. What was it?

After transferring over to this world I guess I slowly started to forget some of the things from my past life… It's only been a month so right?
The Den slowly started to spin around. A loud bell bursted out ringing through the air. I quickly closed my eyes at least it would stop the nuasingating spinning. Within a few seconds it was quiet again… Opening my eyes all I could see was white even though I had no idea where I was. I wasn't panicking.
There was no hint of killing intent… on the other hand there was no movement at all… as if i was alone.
Looking down at the floor I started to freak out a bit… There was nothing and I mean absolutely nothing… no legs or body or anything.
“Where the hell am i?!”
“Welcome my Boy!”
A deep growling voice echoed through the space around.
“Hello?”
After a few seconds of silence. A large black tear appeared inside the white space stepping out of the tare was a fairly well dressed man covered head to toe in a black suit. Taking off his hat and giving a slight bow revealing a horn in the front of his skull. Before placing the hat back on his head hiding the horn once again.
“It's good to see you again. I just didn't expect it to be so soon.”
His voice is too low to be the one I heard earlier...
“Have we met somewhere before…?”
If he knows about me he must know why I'm here and how to leave.
“Well the lord said the transfer can affect the mind… Hm let's take a look.”
Taking a few steps closer to me. Waving his hand he opened a small black tear reaching inside he pulled out one large book. After closing the tear he quickly flipped through the pages until he suddenly stopped sliding his finger down the page until he pointed his finger at one of the lines in the book.
“Ah here we are. Are you ready?”
“Um, for what?”
He looked up from the book he just stayed quiet for a few seconds staring at me.
“Such a pretty soul...”
Taking another look at me before looking back down at the book and muttering a few words under his breath.
Within seconds the letters inside the book began to glow. Removing his hands from the book it began to float. Before snapping shut. Grabbing the book from the air the man placed the book in front of me. After getting a closer look at the cover of the book I could read the title.
Book of Slaughter…
He started drawing the same small symbol in front of me then on the cover of the book after finishing both symbols they glowed a bright red before disappearing along with the book itself…
Claping both of his hands together he looked to me.
“Now you're all set. My work here is done.”
Turning around he walked a few feet away before sliding his finger across the air ripping open a new tear. With that he was gone as quickly as he left… and he never answer a single question and what the fuck was up with that book.
“All send you back for now then.”
The deep voice pierced through my head once again and I blacked out within seconds.
After waking up I was laying on the den floor with only a mild headache…
“Okay what the hell is happening.”

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
