《Potestera- Race for Power》Ch 61 Ecosystem Scan Report

After leaving the Black Market I managed to get home without much of a hiccup or anyone starting trouble.

Yupows reputation was definitely coming in handy.

As soon as I got home I prepared my weapons and equipment in fashion that made me ready for a hunting trip.

I accessed my Guider and went to the [Dual System Updated World Map], in the search function I put “flora and fauna of surroundings map scan”.

Soon the Map did a pause and I only saw the screen of the Guider turn into a blue colored spiral as if it had entered a spinning cycle.

I figured since the Map could scan for powerful enemies and lifeforms, why couldn’t it give me a detailed description of the surrounding animals and plant life.

Apparently it turned out to be a task much bigger than I had thought.

After a few minutes of the blue spiral the Guiders original color finally returned, and new information and options appeared on its screen.

[Owners command prompt required access to the System’s [Guider Internal Recorded Files] as well as an updated Dual System Scan of the 50 miles surrounding Martial Citadel]

[Owners Command Prompt activated a new “Configuration” option that can be added to the Main Menu.]

[New option [Ecosystem Scan Report] now available.]

[Add to Main Menu?] [ yes/no]

Usually when the Guider offered me an option to add to the Main Menu, it was a good thing.

It had yet to fail me, so I immediately selected yes.

[Adding [Ecosystem Scan Report] to Main Menu… “Recorded Files Database” is incomplete and will constantly look to update and add data and information… Owner recommended contributing to [Guider Internal Recorded Files] for more accurate reports.]

The Guider returned to the options of the Main Menu, and as I expected there after the Map options was the new addition [Ecosystem Scan Report].

I clicked on it and after releasing a pulse a condensed Map of the City and its surroundings in a 50 mile Radius were shown to me.

Different little icons were all over the Map making things a little overwhelming.

On the Map options I noticed I had the choice to choose between Fauna, Flaura, Ore, and Natural Resources Filters.

At the moment all the different icons for the types of these filters were on.

I immediately pressed on all of them, unhighlighting each filter and making all the icons disappear with only the terrain details remaining.

I immediately went on to re-highlight only the Fauna making a bunch of little animal shaped icons appear.

On the side a legend appeared detailing the color coding of the different icons.

Green meant there was a recent life signature of a specific species during the System's last “terrain scan”.

Red meant there was information, sightings, or evidence of a specific species during the system's last “field systems scan”.

Blue meant there was common public knowledge of reliable sightings or gatherings of a specific species.

It looked like I had a lot of different options when considering how to approach the hunting of a creature.

Again, the Guider was more amazingly specific than I thought.

I studied the Map for a while.

It seemed the Guider even scanned and reported on the animals that were within the City.

There were actually more creatures inside the City than I had thought.

I clicked on one of the green icons in the City that looked like a Rat, and a profile report appeared.

It showed a picture of a rodent-like silhouette in a dark blue color without much detail.

[Creature Profile Species: Rodent-like Energy signature: cursed energy Size: Large-Small dimensions Information: located in the underground of the city.]

So it seemed that the Guider couldn’t get all the information on the creatures, only an approximation of what the creature was.

But what was this about cursed energy?

What kind of rats were these?

It seemed Martial Citadel had more problems than just a Slowing Economy and Shrinking Population.

It seemed they also had a scary sounding pest problem.

Immediately I zoomed in to one of the surrounding areas to the West where the West Coast road was located.

In the surroundings of the Road there was quite a bit of Fauna to be found, as I examined each Creature Profile, I noticed there were more common and smaller creatures closer to the City.

The farther away I got the more variety and the bigger the creatures got.

I noticed the Guider had incorporated useful information about certain creatures, pertaining useful facts and knowledge on their behavior and power levels.

It even had useful information on the usefulness of hunting and harvesting said creatures, and what uses their creature parts had.

It wasn’t all beasts that had this information, so I assumed this was previous data, either the previous owner or creator of the Guider, had collected into the Guiders Recorded Files.

It seemed whenever I prompted the Guider to do something it had information resources on, it would immediately dig into its database and organize the information in a useful fashion.

I had wanted to dig into the Guiders “Internal Records” but I was intimidated into being overwhelmed in what I would find.

I had always had so much on my plate, since the moment I left my hometown I was wary of chewing off more than I could chew.

Knowing that this was a default function the Guider employed, I felt more at ease in my ability to absorb whatever information the Guider held, on a need only basis.

After getting a decent understanding of the new feature I focused on pinpointing and marking locations of any Magical Creatures.

For the moment I decided to focus only on small to medium sized creatures of this sort, as it was known Magical Creatures we’re almost always more powerful than their normal counterparts.

Soon I managed to find a couple of the creatures I had been able to hunt back in the Western Wilderness, as well as a lot of new creatures I had never seen before.

I set a marker on them with the Map, and also added a tracking command to those icons that were green, so that I would be up to date with their location at all times.

Then I continued to mark a couple of other useful looking beasts that weren’t magical, but that I knew would be valuable if I managed to hunt them.

Among that list I marked a lot of snakes, as I wanted to collect a variety of poisons and their meat which was highly valued in the Medicinal and Nutrition Market.

Soon I had a good amount of hunting targets that I was sure would keep me busy until my year with Yupow was over.
