《Potestera- Race for Power》Ch 42 Shoton the Archmage

“Hehehehe Clan Head of the Titan Hand Clan you truly did come prepared didn’t you. It seems tonight this War will have its end. Those are some impressive gloves you have there, in conjunction with your grotesque hands, I suppose you do have a somewhat formidable defense against my Sparking Light Spells. Well, let’s see how prepared you truly are. Block this you big brute!!!”
Shoton raised his staff and shot a massive ball of Lightning Element Magical Energy towards the sky, after reaching a certain height the lightning lit up the night sky and it dispersed into volleys of lightning balls that rained down from the sky.
The power, efficiency, and speed with which Shoton released his Magical Techniques was astounding.
I always heard that a Magons two main weaknesses were in close quarters combat and in the amount of time it took for them to cast their techniques.
But right now Shoton had shown no such weakness, he was as fast as the lightning energy he shot out, and with his dominance in range, there was no possibility for a close quarter battle to take place.
As soon as the lightning balls rained down on Binomas he covered his body with one of his large gauntlet armed hands, and as expected the energy was absorbed by the Powerful item.
Nevertheless, Binomas didn't have it so easy this time the rain of lightning energy wasn't only aimed at him but at his whole perimeter in which he stood.
Many of his men and fellow Clansmen were instantly electrocuted to a crisp or heavily wounded. It was another one of Shotons’ powerful ‘area of effect’ attacks.
The terrain which surrounded him was also decimated by the lightning balls that fell, throwing debris and energy shocks towards Binomas face side.
He had no time to save his fellow clansmen unless he wanted to forfeit his life and had no choice but to move and dodge through the impacts that were too close for comfort. For his large size, the man was impressively agile on his feet.

“I'm going to make you regret ever messing with me and my noble Clan you freak!”
He pointed his staff again and multiple powerful bolts of lightning were aimed straight at Binomas while he was still trying to dodge the lightning balls from the sky.
It was a two-pronged attack, Shoton was going for the kill.
In this battle there was no such a thing as testing the waters, every move they made was fully made with the intent to kill or survive, this was a Ranker battle.
It was obvious Binomas was an experienced Warrior, as soon as he noticed Shoton pointing the staff towards his direction he dropped his axe and covered his frontside with his hands.
As soon as Shoton cast the spell it was only a matter of milliseconds before the lightning struck him straight on target, his gauntlet managed to absorb the energy but the thunderous power behind the bolt launched him back crashing into a nearby hill.
Shoton had gained the upper hand and had gone from being the hunted to the hunter.
“Mmm, you Evolved really are like rats nothing but a scourge to humanity's future. But just like rats somehow you guys always find a way to stick around, your resilience is at least something I can praise. But today I get rid of one more of you demented psychopathic freaks. Go Jolts attack!!!”
A portion of the so-called Jolt monsters he had summoned, and who were previously only safeguarding his surroundings flashed at lightning speed towards the rock wreckage where Binomas had been flung.
Whether Binomas had survived the attack was yet to be seen, but from Shotons words, it seemed he had and was trying to finish him off.
Before the Jolts could arrive, the pile of rocks moved and suddenly a barrage of energy blasts were shot out towards the direction of the Jolts.

Most Jolts escaped the incoming fire but a couple did get shot down from the sky in which they floated in.
As soon as the Jolts arrived at the scene they shot out an endless stream of electric current that chained up with each Jolt's attack.
The attack painted terrifying similarities to that of a bee or wasp swarm attack, except these monsters looked much more formidable than said bees or wasps.
Soon after the smoke and dust cleared out, the scene of a desperate Binomas fighting off a swarm of monsters could be seen.
Surprisingly although he looked highly battered he was still for the most part uninjured. Upon closer inspection the reason became evident, Shoton wasn't the only one wearing special armor.
Binomas’ armor seemed to have absorbed most of the impact of the crash and currently, it was enveloping him in a mysterious visible aura-like layer that was holding off most of the Jolt’s electric attacks.
Despite that, it was evident his armor wasn't a foolproof defense as time went on burns and crack-like marks started appearing all over his body.
His defense was getting worn down.
“And you thought you had what it takes to kill me, look at you struggling like a madman with these mere Elementals. It’s time I end this stupid farce. I should've gone to your Clan Headquarters and wiped out your Clan with my own hands from the very beginning, it would have saved me multiple headaches and the lives of my fellow Clansmen. Although you might’ve been correct in the end Binomas, perhaps I’m not ruthless enough in this savage world. Now do me a favor and Die!”
Shoton grasped unto his staff with both of his hands and raised it and for the first time since the start of the battle uttered an incantation in a strange language.
It only took him a couple of seconds but compared to the speed with which he had performed his previous attacks this had taken an eternity.
But in regards to leaving himself open for an attack, it didn't really matter, as the combination of his robes forcefield, and the surrounding Jolt monsters that acted as defensive and offensive options were already plenty enough to neutralize any potential sneak attack.
As soon as Shoton finished the incantation he slammed his staff’s base onto the ground, and line after line of conspicuous symbols appeared on the ground each pointing in a different direction but all of them ultimately converging to where Binomas was fighting for his life.
“Heavens Sparking Clap!”
From the sky rays of white light struck down exactly down the path the symbols had emerged, and from the ground row after row of lightning streak akin to a wave emerged and met with the beams of light.
The result wasn't an explosion but instead a blinding flash of light.
Many of Binomas men in the surrounding were instantly vaporized and the ones who were farther away screamed in agony as their corneas were cooked like an egg. They would be permanently blind in the Land of Potestera this was perhaps a fate worse than death.
This was the power of a AA Ranker, this was the power of Shoton Elite Lightning Archmage.

Story of Vita
(warning, I do not know how to write properly. This is just something i decided to do because reading is fun) When you die and get the chance to be sent to another world with magic and blade. And get the chance to be given a form after your own choosing, why not get something busted? All life started with a single cell organism, so why not become something that controlls and steals the cells of others? Maybe become a legendary monster that the gods fear? Or maybe find someone to join for adventure? Who will know?
8 132Overseer
From the nothingness I appeared. Bodiless, voiceless, ageless, I have only thoughts and emotions to guide me. My one connection to the world lies in the hearts of a small colony of lizards, just on the cusp of maturing. I reach out to them without hands, inspiring them to be more than what they are, shaping their bodies from visions of lost memories. But where do the memories come from? I am always left with more questions than answers. In my lonely shapeless existence the lizards cannot hear my words, and they cannot feel my touch, and I must wonder, do I even really exist? --- Called emotional, abstract, and beautiful by readers, this story is an observational account of a disembodied entity that has the power to influence and change a race of mildly intelligent lizard creatures. Memories of a previous life often serve as inspiration, but also generate questions as to whom the entity might have been before it became an Overseer. (presented in short chapters) (Thank you readers for getting my story into the top 5 ;u; ~

Doing so puts a target on all of their backs and thrusts them into a global conflict not unrelated to the treasure hunt. The one thing Joshua knows is that he is out of his element.
