《Potestera- Race for Power》Ch 20 Ideals of Power and the Will of Volunterra

I started to finish the last of my packing, everything I had sorted out earlier, including my weapons. The last thing I had to do was organize my ammo in a combat efficient way. After that I think I’m officially journey ready.
Honestly the only weapon of importance was my Elemental Sling. But I definitely still hadn’t figured out the most efficient way to wield it, the ammo options I had were just too many.
That’s it!
Its obvious, sometimes I was too stupid, I had to organize my ammo seperately that’s the most battle efficient way, so that I can quicky access it in the heat of battle.
From what I saw in the battle at the outskirts, all actions and decisions were executed in mere seconds.
Speed was everything.
I got out all my ammo and separated the types individually even the normal ammo. All in all I had 20 types of special ammo, I hadn't realized it before but each one was labeled although the words were tiny.
It was Gale Shot the only one I had used before, Searing Shot, Frost Shot, Hydro Shot, Acid Pellet, Volt Shot, Mountain Round, Heavy Metal Round, Wood Pellet, Void Shot, Dark Bullet, Mana Shot, Vacuum Shot, Blessed Shot, Divine Shot, Piercing Shot, Homing Shot, Multi Shot, Boom Shot, and Severing Light Round.
Some of the names are self explanatory, others I had no idea what they meant but it sounded crazy. As far as the basic rounds go, I had a good amount of each.
So far I had decided to use the small metal pellets, the bigger steel balls, and the beast fangs. I felt something was missing. I looked around and spotted a bag of iron nails. These should do!
These could act as my defacto piercer rounds when the pellets and balls weren’t enough, I didn’t know how reliable the beast fangs were.
I finished putting everything in separate bags and organized them under my coat pockets.

This was probably the best I could do right now as far as weapon power was concerned, I had planned on buying something else in the black market but the map turned out to be more expensive than I thought. Still I had no complaints.
Now that I had gotten most of my equipment ready, and have a map as well as a general sense of where I'm going it was time to come up with a gameplan.
What were my goals?
I obviously wanted to become a Ranker, but one has to learn how to walk before they can run.
The Guider had mapped out the best route for me to take in order to get to Will City. The reason I had set that as my first destination, was because I figured that was a good starting point to expand my horizons, and because I had decided to visit Unyielding Martial Will Dojo and get a martial arts master there.
What I needed urgently was a boost in battle power, and learning a combat art was the most logical, and accessible choice I had.
Unyielding Dojo was just a couple miles north of the capital which made it very convenient to make that my first stop among the many choices I had in the “Seeier File”. As a matter of fact most important organizations I had read on the “Seeier Organization File” were pretty close to the Capital.
The reason being that the Capital was the economic and political epicenter of the Country, all big decisions regarding Volunterra were made there. My best option is to make that area my base of operations, were I will try to do whatever necessary to grow.
For right now all I have is my Willpower to rise into the ranks, but according to the philosophy of my Country that was all that was needed.
The Power of mortal “Will” was the great ideal the country followed in its journey to reach the summit. That applies to most of the countries Loyal Rankers as well.

It sounds like a bunch of idealistic rubbish but the leaders and high Rankers of the Country take it very seriously. So much so that most laws and creeds written in the country are directly influenced by this ideology.
For example By creed of our founder, all Rankers who claim Potestera as their home cannot abandon their Humanity and must have some respect for their Mortality. To have a “Will” was to be a human, to be human was to be a mortal.
There was nothing wrong with aspiring for greater realms, but we believed ascension through the mortal or human Will was the right Path for us.
Turns out it's also arguably one of the hardest Paths to tread.
In a world were Magic, Advanced Science, and Godly Energy existed, it was no easy feat to resist the allure and pursuit of those powers in exchange for your Humanity.
To many in Potestera forsaking or limiting the potential of proven paths like the former, in exchange for an intangible seemingly imaginary ideal of power was either stupid, crazy, or both.
Yet that was the path Potestera chose and so far it has worked out.
We've stood strong against the corrupted Scientific Ideal of Scienimo, we've defied the odds and prevailed in battle against the Divine Ideal of Mightos. We’re no worse than Enomiles and their Ideal of Evolution. Manafort and their snobbish Ideal of Magic have no choice but to respect us.
The only ones whom we fear is The Withering Empire, and their beliefs in the power of Darkness and Corruption, honestly nobody would willingly mess around with those freaks, but they too do not dare underestimate us.
Many don't know why we’ve survived and prospered for such a long time. Most credit it to the legacy and inheritance of our Founder.
Legend has it that with nothing but his body and his Will alone he burst forth into higher realms and even challenged and defeated Celestial beings.
They say it is because of him alone that many at the top dared not, underestimate a Mortal Human ever again, and by extension Volunterra, stronghold of humans.
One day to dismay of Volunterras citizens and joy to his enemies he vanished.
By historical accounts it is only mentioned that he retired his Leadership position to his disciple so rumors and false information spread like wildfire, some say he’s dead, others say he permanently ascended, the details are unknown.
Unfortunately many didn't care why and only hungered for the chance to destroy an unprotected Volunterra.
But Volunterras fortune had not run dry, many powerful champions arose and defended our land among them our current Leader.
Thereafter we overcame challenge after challenge, and rose back up from crisis after crisis. Volunterra has followed his example and held strong against all odds, no matter the reason, for our survival, most believe it is the power of its “People’s Will”, but even if it isn’t it doesn’ matter.
If it’s not broke don’t fix it.
Ideals of power, this is what dominates life in Potestera, everyone from the lowly creatures and normal citizens, to the Powerful Rankers themselves are affected by “Potesteras War of Ideals”.
Nations and citizens die standing by them. The reason was simple to prove there is only one true path towards ascendance.
Whether you could ascend was no longer a question, Potestera has been witness to this for many generations, forces that few could completely understand were always at play, so each sentient mortal put their lots on that which they could understand, and which offered a Path towards a higher state of being.
And so Nations were born and many Paths were created. That is the State and history of Potestera and of my Country. The history that dictates the decisions I must make in this life.

Ruins of Dalághast
I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but I'd always been torn between different projects. That's why I decided to dedicate myself to a pretty strict schedule of writing and editing a single chapter every month since the start of 2019. This is an ongoing, work in progress novel that follows a ragtag group of sellswords as they delve into a lost city on the edge of the known world in search of their fortunes. Within, though, they find much more than they ever expected and find themselves in a race against time to unravel a mystery centuries old. For those who want to see my work months earlier than it will be released here, alongside exclusive artwork and other perks, consider supporting me and my work on Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/atlaswrites

The Chronicles of Tyfoon, The Chosen One
For hundreds of years the galaxy was kept in order due to the diligent work of The Council, the number one authority in the whole galaxy, and their appointed guardian of the galaxy, The Chosen One. The Chosen One was the face of order and justice in the galaxy and was the head over all the galactic military forces, answering only to The Council themselves. But after a rebel enemy force known as the Doomaki rise to power, they overtake The Chosen One and his military forces, known as The Peacekeepers. One final battle leaves The Peacekeepers outnumbered and The Chosen One is overtaken and presumed dead. Just when it seems the galaxy might fall to the evil reign of the Doomaki, they disappear without a trace. With the thread of the Doomaki gone, the crippled galaxy begins to try and rebuild and find a new Chosen One to lead them and prepare for whatever new threats may come. Tyfoon, the Chosen One's only child, was born during the battle that his father disappeared in, and the ensuing battle left him without a mother as well, dying soon after childbirth. 18 years from that night pass and Tyfoon is ready to follow in his father's footsteps and serve The Council, perhaps to be The Chosen One when he is ready. But this plan is cut short when the Doomaki resurface and threaten everything dear to Tyfoon. Tyfoon must rise up and finish the task his father failed: defeat the Doomaki once and for all.
