《dreadnaught: scifi apocalypses space marine》chapter 36: records of the first Warden War

Lounoni held a strange, and interesting device in her off-hand as she carried a spear beside her sister. She was never a fighter, even with the training in her youth.
She was neither skilled nor passionate about it. She would rather learn of the ancient secrets of magic or examine one of the few still working relics of old. But she at least knew how to use a spear. That perhaps is probably why she got along with Azanii so well.
She is known to be a great warrior. If she had a better head of politics she would be the favorite to be the next elder, little alone the next Matriarch. But as the next general, Azanii would be happy with that.
The major problem comes when she tries personal relationships. All they see is what most know. Azanii the warrior. Azanii the tactician. Azanii the not very girly one.
Lounoni and Azanii used to laugh about who would find a male worthy of them between them first. While Lounoni swore it off till she found the right one. Her sister had tried and failed three times. The first one when they were young.
When Azanii reputation was beginning to grow. She was known publicly as being very stern and strict. So she decided to partner with another rising star of the clan. When she removed her armor and opened herself, her first partner was rough and impersonal. Thought this was a reward of service rather than an act of partnership.
The second was political. Azanii neither cared nor desired such a partnership with the individual and found nothing beyond her expectations. A cold heart and disappointment in bed. The third was just a random pick on a dare. The poor guy passed out during the deed.
Lounoni had no doubt that if Azanii was presented the chance. She would bed the Dreadnaught. They were so alike romantically, and he had given her similar glances she had given him. That is why Lounoni asked for the recording device from her own new mate. To record for her of him, if he should fall, or to show any with doubt that he is worthy of her.

Lounoni and the other dragonkin were placed in the reserves. They were to act as they see fit but to stay out of the way till they were needed. So she recorded as her own mate was nearby on his laptop working on something ‘big’ he said.
And as the humans began their unique war chant of defiance, it was John who triggered the trap set off that caused the horizon to burn. She never imagined humans had such ability, but by the look on John’s face, she can tell it would not be enough.
“ Well Rick, I am about out of tricks. Just big bird I am going to save for when we need it most and our final goodbye. What about you?”
Rick, the big human in one of the new exo-suits, carried a large maul with him. In addition, Lounoni could see two auto-turrets she and John had worked tirelessly to program the night before. In fact, it was during her final check of the coding that David came to her in the middle of the night to get suited up.
“ Marry is with the others in the HQ. Keeping an eye on Jewlie and the other kids. I am with you till the end my friend.”
Lounoni recorded the two before she turned to some of the other defenders. The most active by far was the adventurer guild. An organization of children and fools trying to survive a cruel world and do good while they do it.
Amateurs with their weapons, Even she could see their potential if even one in twenty of them managed to survive. That lone survivor would become a force equal to those twenty fallen and more.
The Jedi were strange to her. Their magic is a unique blend of mind and will manifest in the physical world. Their whole thing seemed to be balance and peacekeeping. Keeping order among the noncombatants and combatants alike. Their strange weapons also had a strange feeling of nobility to them as well.

The Roughnecks were a unique bunch. John had told her it was them that went far beyond the basic strategies and upped the levels of lethality to all their traps. They are also the ones who decided the position of all the troops and battleplans they were to follow.
The dragonkin even received a battle plan from them, even though they had been there less than a week, they had a solid grasp of their strengths and weaknesses just by theory and observation of them.
And it is not because they saw the dragonkin as a potential threat in the future, in fact, Lounoni was fairly sure her sister was a little insulted being disregarded as a threat. No, what made the Roughnecks so dangerous was that they knew how to fight this enemy.
They know how to fight against their tactics and make them bleed for every inch in no way Azanii say that she would not even be able to match. They both could see in those warriors’ eyes a unique fire. A fire that has burned brightly at the thought of killing their great enemy.
Then there were the Wardens. Most of them were taking support roles. Carrying ammo or provisions to those on the walls. But several dozen of them were around the interior of the wall running patrols in their exo-suits. Ready to go wherever they are needed.
As she received the various groups Lounoni felt her sister tense as a large string of weapon fire began from the Dreadnaught. That was the signal the final battle had begun.

Apex Predator
Earth is a fairly small place, but it's all Bath has. It's the only home he's ever known for all of his 500-or-so-million years of life. One day, Bath realized his treasured Earth was being drawn into the next mass extinction ahead of schedule. So, fascinated by the humans and their quick rise to power (after all, setting off a mass extinction is a pretty sizable achievement), what's a nearly all-powerful, somewhat bored, morally ambiguous, savagely violent, shapeshifting alien entity to do other than assume the form of a human and do some front-line investigating? Little did Bath know he would soon stumble upon a mysterious human organization with a gate leading to planets eons away. And that's just the beginning... A story with aliens, intergalactic space travel, mind powers, and an abundance of adventure! Author's note: ON HIATUS! Hello and thank you for reading! Constructive criticism and grammar-policing are both appreciated. Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are complete at 1271 pages! Part 7 is in progress! If you've ever read any other web serials, you might've noticed that authors get better with time (that is, their art or writing improves). Wutosama of Metaworld Chronicles noted that the first 20 chaps are always a mess. This is also the case with Apex Predator. The first two parts (ranging just under 30 chapters, or 161 pages) are absolutely subpar. While I have edited them as of 7-10-18, they require a rewrite, which is currently in the works but not complete. For a sample that gives insight into what the latter ~80% of the story's writing style is like, check out chapter 56. Vote for Apex Predator on Top Web Fiction! The Apex Predator Discord is here. Cover: original work done by me, the author, caerulex.

Fateless: The Silver Lining
It has been ten years of peace for the Union since the end of the great war with the eastern barbarian tribes, yet in the cold north of the Union's land, a new threat is looming. This time, an ambitious Lord is seeking to restore the yore pride of his kin, forcing the weakened Union into yet another unwanted war, as he ramps up the ranks of his army with thieves, murderers and mercenaries.* * *The temperature inside the forge was nearly twice as high as the one outside. A black-haired girl hammered a steel ingot into the shape of a blade. The heat of the steam was draining her stamina away, but her focus remained sharp as her sweat streamed down her face. Hit after hit, for hours, the sound of the hammering steel followed the rhythm of her breathing. Exhausted, she placed the blade into the water and wiped the sweat off her face using a drenched rag. Why are they screaming? Vatra dipped the rag back in the water, twisted it, and approached the window. Her mouth opened as her world shattered again into the living nightmare she had wilfully tried to forget. She bit her lips; it wasn’t a dream. The pulse of her heart rose. A cold sweat prickled her back. A mother was running, and a child was screaming. A torrent of smoke was emerging from the roof of her neighbour. Vatra’s eyes blinked. The mother lay on the ground, a spear through her back. A torch circled in the air and landed on the roof of her workshop. In the distance, a man wearing a banner well known to the world… Fateless is a philosophical medieval dark low fantasy centered on war, militaristic campaigns and geopolitical conflicts between multiple empires. This story follows the fate of Vatra, a former slave from the eastern Nar Empire who was raised in a culture far away from her own, forced into warfare against her will, and the fate of Lanaya, an ambitious half-angel exiled from her home whose existence is seen as heresy. As they wished for peace, both chose a path opposed to one another until their fate crossed. In this story where war dictates the law, love strikes them as a poisoned balm to which they grasp for with all their might, as it is in the darkest of times that the smallest flames may burn the brightest. * * * Tome 1 already completed and available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Fateless-Silver-Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot/dp/B09LGSH1KK Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot-100547579135891/ I will publish 1 chapter per week (sometimes 2 if the chapters are too short for my liking).

Winter Sovereign
Serra Recquir, a boy born in the world of Sierra, was born with weak and with mediocre talent. Despite the odds, he pursued the path of cultivation. He faced numerous trials, deadly foes and great friends. Eventually, he stepped into the world of the Divine Realm. Breaking past the limits of the world and traveling to higher planes. After millions of years, he finally reached the summit. Becoming a Sovereign Paragon. Longing for the world he left countless years ago, he finally returns to his own world. Author's Note: This story is different from other wuxia novels. If those novels focus on characters that struggle from the bottom and reach the top, this story is one where someone already reached the top. I figured it would be interesting to start a novel from this concept so I started it. Well, however this plays through, just like how I finished my previous novel, Doll's Smile, I'll finish this novel too. Of course, I'm writing this novel just for fun. I like to write lighthearted novels like this. Novels that I would read while listening to music and eating snacks on a pleasant and relaxing afternoon. Do forgive me if I'm slow in writing.
