《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 354 Captain's Test Part 8

As soon as the last one dies I run back to check on the army, they have started marching again. It is obvious the goblins are nervous, but they are still moving towards the village. Running, I quickly circle the army and attack them again from a different direction.
Each time I attack, at least two hundred goblins chase after me, and the army stops for at least a few minutes. My guess is the commander is having trouble keeping the goblins in line. At least I hope so, at this rate I am not wearing down their numbers very fast.
Since the orcs are set on trying to ignore me on my next attack I don't turn and run. Instead I cut my way through the goblins until I get within thirty-five feet of the orcs. Then I use Wind Slash twice to kill two of the orcs before turning and cutting my way back out of the army.
This time as I dash into the woods I see five hundred goblins chasing me and I can hear a lot of roaring coming from the army. While the orcs might not care how many goblins I kill, it is a different matter if I start killing them. When I am done killing the five hundred goblins I take a five minute break to catch my breath before heading back to the army.
To my delight the army hasn't moved, in fact it looks like the orcs are arguing amongst themselves. The goblins are all watching the orcs argue, they have their backs turned to the forest where I am hidden. I just can't pass up such an opportunity so I rush out and start slaughtering the goblins.
As I do I notice there seem to be two distinct groups of orcs, one group is backing the commander. So as I cut down goblins I edge towards this group, then I use Lion's Rage and turn and run into the forest. Not only do around a hundred goblins chase me but also about fifty orcs as well.

Due to my positioning when I used Lion's Rage all of the orcs that are chasing me are from the group that supports the commander. It is my hope that by weakening his support I can instigate chaos amongst the orcs. This should slow them down and also make it easier for me to kill them all, or at least most of them.
Once I lead the group chasing me far enough away I turn around and begin the massacre. The orcs are harder to kill than goblins and they are able to do more damage to me, but it isn't enough to save them. If I went up against the full thousand orcs I would probably die, but in small groups they are just training dummies to me.
When I return to check on the army I find that things have changed a lot, the army split. Five hundred orcs and two thousand goblins are marching back the way they came. A little under five hundred orcs and a thousand goblins are following the commander towards the village.
The ones retreating must have disagreed with the commander, this result is even better than I was hoping. Now that the army is split I will have a much easier time killing all of them. So I quickly run ahead of the commander's group and get ready to ambush them.
The goblins don't worry me, so I will focus on the orcs first, after climbing a tree I wait patiently. I continue waiting as the goblins pass under my hiding spot, I don't make my move until the orcs are below me. I kill two orcs as I drop down from above, then immediately spin and kill another four.
Before the orcs even know what is going on over a dozen have fallen and I start cutting my way free of them. It would still be a little much to take on all of them at once, so I slaughter my way through the goblins and vanish into the forest. A roar from the commander stops those that were chasing me so I quickly circle around the force and attack from the other side.

For the next hour I continuously launch hit-and-runs from various directions. Not only do I keep them from advancing but I slowly wear down their numbers. Now there are only about three hundred orcs left and about the same amount of goblins.
They are currently huddled together in the middle of a field of corpses. There is no way for me to approach without being seen which has limited my ability to kill them and escape. However, now that their numbers are lower I don't have to be as careful.
After activating Storm Armor and Mage Knight Blade I charge the goblins. Instead of attacking and running, this time I cut my way to the orcs and then use Lion's Rage. With all of them in range, they all go insane and do everything they can to kill me.
During this fight I get hit and take quite a bit of damage, but nothing I can't heal up easily enough. One of the first orcs I kill is the commander, without him they have no hope of regaining their senses. After that it is simply a matter of wearing them down until there isn't a single one left alive.
Once the last one dies, I sit on the commander's corpse and rest for a good ten minutes or so. Then I stand up and set off in the opposite direction from the village, after all there are still more goblins. I certainly don't want them to rejoin the main force that sent them and report about me.
It takes me almost an hour to catch up to them, they are moving as fast as they can. I still have two hours until dawn, so I quickly launch an attack against the rear of their force. As soon as I appear, shock and fear spreads through all of the goblins and orcs.
It is fairly satisfying, but it also presents a problem since they are more likely to turn and run. I don't have time to chase them all down if they scatter, but I also can't kill all of them in one go. Since the orcs are less likely to scatter I focus on killing as many goblins as I can before I have to retreat.

The life of humble, hard-working Carioca*¹² Rafael Barro is thrown into disarray when the interstellar Multi-Unity Alliance comes knocking. During the negotiations to take Earth in as a Protected Member-Planet for the glory of our AI overlords, the aliens ‘accidentally’ break the Veil that keeps the mythics protected from humanity’s knowledge, revealing the creatures of legend and myth that were hiding among us for millennia — from the doorman to global leaders. After a series of mishaps in his ever chaotic Brazil, our intrepid hero decides to join the Unity's Army, where he ends up as a inglorious… quartermaster. The Unity takes all recruits to make matters worse, including the mythics! And the cherry on the damn pie is Rafael Barro’s extra assignment: writing this historical first-hand report on the wonders of Earth’s diversity, the seamless adaptation of all its members, and on his gallant units’ first stellar expedition ever to defend another precious*³ world! Are we talking about the same planet? (Reader discretion is advised; Contains Graphic Language and Potentially Excessive Swearing) *¹ Carioca = demonym of someone from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. *² humble and/or hardworking Cariocas = not necessarily mythics, ordinary ones actually exist. *³ precious = inasmuch every living planet is precious. Editor's Note: Someone disable his permission to edit the draft on UnityDocs, please! Hello, I'm McKing and I aim to write an original story with elements I've never seen put together before. Feel free to point out any mistakes you see — I'm not a native speaker, so I'm sure a few will pass me by. Sci-fi; Humor; (Brazilian) Urban Fantasy; faint shades of LitRPG. **Be warned it has a bit of an (absurd) slice-of-life beginning though the story is being subtly (I hope) worked on and eventually shifts gears (a bit). I planned to say that from the beginning, but I forgot to add it.** I hope that you enjoy it and that I can grow as a writer with your contributions. No Fixed Update Schedule. My inspiration comes in bursts and so will the Chapters. Sorry if that displeases you (I love regular updates too), but I'm afraid that's the best I can do for now. Keep in mind that it is a work in progress and things can eventually change a bit - I'll try to always note the changes. Sorry for the bad cover, it was the best my sorry skills could do! I hope you enjoy it,Mcking
