《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 342 Mage Knight Test Part 4

They are all standing immobile just like the previous ones, so I know they will wake up once I move within twenty feet. That means they should take a second or two to start moving and even longer to get in formation. The previous two fights I waited before fighting them, but now I can use those seconds to get to the casters.
I move until I am just outside the twenty foot mark and activate mage knight blade and storm armor. I choose to create two long swords to give me the range and reach I need and then I pick a caster as my target. All at once I burst into the room moving as fast as I can as I charge at my target.
The orcs all come to life after my second step and they all lock onto me instantly. But before they can react I am already past the first row of them and only a few steps from my target. As I complete my next step he is in range so I bring both swords across his body from either side.
As soon as those cuts complete I use my momentum to spin around like a ballerina while extending my swords. This allows me to hit three other casters before they can move out of my range. While a single hit isn't enough to kill them, now all I need is another hit to finish them.
By now the rest of the orcs are reacting, the ranged ones are backing away while the melee ones are charging towards me. However, I ignore the melee types and chase after the casters, as long as I can kill them this fight should be easy. One of the casters dies before the melee get close to me, but the other two are heading in opposite directions.

So as I dodge around the melee orc to chase one caster I throw a pair of wind blades after the other one. While I manage to reach my current target, unfortunately one of the melee orcs gets in the way of my wind blades. By the time I have finished the caster I was chasing, the other one is behind a wall of melee types.
All the orcs quickly group up and get in formation, tanks in front and facing me. There are seventeen orcs left, and only one caster among them, so I should be able to finish this fairly quickly. As I charged in I noticed there was no other exit from this room which should mean this is the end of the test.
Before they can get completely ready I charge the line of tanks, I lead with a kick at a tanks shield. My kick is strong enough to knock the tank backwards into the dps orcs, thus opening a gap in the tank's line. As I step into the gap I slash my swords at the tank on either side, but I don't stop moving forward.
Once I break past the line I start spinning, first one way then the other as I move forward. Finally I am able to use sword dancer again after so long, I can't use it with Blitz. Sword dancer only works when I am wielding two swords, but it allows me to become a whirlwind of steel.
The downside is that I am unable to use my evasive steps so I am getting hit fairly often by the orcs. However, that was always the plan, after all I want to level up my healing spell. The hits I am taking are only doing a few hundred damage at most, by the time my HP drops by a quarter five more orcs die.

Several others are close to death, this is a reckless way of fighting but I am having a ton of fun. If it wasn't impossible to die in the test I may not have chosen such a reckless method. A single step and spin ends another three orcs, now only nine are left.
With over three thousand hitpoints left I doubt the remaining nine orcs can kill me. Just to be safe I activate sacred touch and instantly I heal for over eight hundred HP. With that I basically just cancelled out all the damage I have taken, and that is with the skill only being level one!
After realizing just how little risk there is I go completely offensive and don't even try to dodge their attacks. By the time I am facing the last orc I've taken another five hundred points of damage. Just before killing the last orc I activate sacred touch again and restore myself to full hitpoints.
??? says "Opponent defeated! Skill Optimization triggered!"
'Skill optimization? Not fusion?'

Heroes of Midlaris
Heroes of Midlaris is on hiatus until I finish writing Arc 2, and will resume once Arc 2 has been completely written. There is no ETA for this. After a long, exhausting day at work, where he faced the usual harassment from some of his coworkers, Luke just wanted to return some books to the library, head home, and rest. Instead, he died on the way and became reincarnated into the world of Midlaris, a world of myth and magic. There, he was found and raised by seven elders, who each taught him their craft as he grew up. When he turned sixteen, he began to attend university in the nearby kingdom, beginning a tale of love and friendship, of creativity and growth, and of an ancient past that begins to return. The first several chapters covers his childhood, for those coming to read about him at university. Posting Schedule: Alternating between 2 days and 3 days (so two chapters in a 5-day period). Patrons can read up to 15 chapters early.

The Rules of Dungeoneering
The First Rule of Dungeoneering: This will kill you Sylvester Bayes, the 4th son of a small baron, has suddenly had his head filled with the memories and work of someone who had dedicated their life to memorizing every dungeon they could find and designing a new RPG system. Not about to waste these gifts, Sylvester quickly sets out to get rich quick and discover the reasons behind his sudden knowledge. (Please note, this is dressed up actual play from my testing of a tabletop RPG. It is actually how the game has gone and there is a very real chance that anyone, including Sylvester, could die in any encounter. To help make my job easier I am using dungeons written by other people, which is why I have listed this as a fanfiction. I put links to all of them in the chapters where they are relevant.)

With his father’s lucky coin in hand, and an indecipherable journal in his back pocket, Augustus Perry stumbles into a world he never knew existed. There, he finds a school of mages who speak of Gust’s father as if he were a long-lost legend. They fear Gust’s world and some even call him a demon. It is only out of respect for the coin’s former master that the mages take him in and teach him their methods for cultivating mana. But how could an immortal renegade swordsman turn into the quiet, withdrawn man Gust always knew? What brought him to Gust’s world in the first place, and why did he never go back? If Gust ever wants to know who his father truly was, he’ll need to embark on the very same quest that drove his old man insane. New Chapters M-W-F. **This is my attempt at western progression/cultivation fantasy, inspired by stories like Cradle, the works of Er Gen, and more mainstream fantasy like the Wheel of Time and the Cosmere books.**
