Chapter 162: The Black Cloth Gang
Four figures moved across the town high roofs. Their black garbs blending into the cloudy night, rendering them almost invisible. Their quary, was a carriage moving down in the town roads, abandoned during the late and dark night.
The four stopped on a single roof, overlooking the carriage as it made its way. Their leader, a man wearing a mask with two short swords strapped to his back, gave a few singals with his hand and like four blurs made of living shadow, they vanished.
The carriage was surrounded by men, wearing the city’s enforcers blue uniforms. They moved in formation, looking out in the city as their master rested within the carriage.
“Light!” The man in the carriage heard shouting. He quickly parted the curtain on the carriage to look out. Sure enough, he could see a light growing stronger in the night, he could tell it was electricity.
Two of the guards stepped between the carriage and the light and raised their hands just as a javelin of lightning shot at the carriage. A wall of earh rose to meet the javelin and wall held before it was lowered.
“Look!” another man said, pointing at the man in blackgarb. He had swords on his back and mask on his face. “Get him!”
The masked man turned tail and ran. Five of the guards gave chase. Fire balls and earth stones were being thrown at the man who had to deftly dodge them. The masked man drew his sword, the blade shone with ki. He swung the blade and C-shaped energy flew out after one of the men.
The guard threw his hand out and a stream of fire shot out to meet the energy. When they met, the stream parted and the energy shot through, finding the fire elementalist’s neck before slicing through it and felling the man.
The masked man took a corner and when the guards took the corner there was nothing.

“Where is he?” One of the guards said, looking around.
“It strange that this guy can use elemental arts yet we can’t even sense him.”
“He’s somehow cloaking himself.” The other said.. “But where is he now?”
“Another light!” one of the guards accompanying the carriage said, seeing the light grow brighter.
A javelin of lightning shot out again and a wall of earth protected the carriage. They looked at at the man in black looking a them from afar.
“His back?” the guard said. “How did he escape the others?”
“Get him!”
Five more guards chased after the fleeing man in black.
The carriage continued on.
“Three more!” another said.
Three white lights grew brighter along the buildings in the road. One of the guads shot out a fireball at one of the lights while the other two were blocked by walls of earth.
The guard who threw the fire ball rushed to where he had shot at the light. He saw the piece of paper on the ground. “Scrolls!” the guard said, showing everyone.
“These people may not even be elementalist.” The man in the carriage said.
“Boulder!” someone shouted.
A giant boulder crashed into the assembled men, sending some flying away. The boulder was stopped by a few elementalists.
The man in the carriage gritted his teeth before getting out. “They’ve boobytrapped our whole pathway.” He walked outfront and freed one of the carriage steeds.
“Sir, perhapsyou shouldget back inside?” one of the guards said.
“I am a warrior, if these COWARDLY ASSASSINS… want to kill me, I will face them in the open.” He said as he got on the steed. “They know our main route. We take the alternative small streets.”
They began to move off, taking a smaller street. His steed was moving at a steady trott as the others jogged after him. From the corner of his eye, the man on the horse saw something flying for himf rom a high vantage point. He leaned back as a black shafted arrow flew past his face, the arrowhead cutting a line along the bridge of his nose.

“Archer!” the man shouted.
Another arrow came for him but was caught by a sphere of water, leaving it suspended in its liquid body. Two more guards came in a moment after and shot out twin streams of electricity. The electricity coursed through the screaming archer before he fell from the high building and plopped on the ground.
The guards ran to him and unmasked the archer. “He’s just a boy.”
“Carry the body.” The man on the steed said. “Though I know who sent these cowards after me, we will need that body.”
Two of the guard carried the body while the party continued to move on.
A giant X-shaped ki blast sped for the party. The elementalist met it with their attacks, creating an explosion of ki, earth and water. Fire balls were thrown at the masked man with the two short swords in his hands, still glowing with ki from his last attack.
The masked man dodged, jumping from one building ledge to the next to dodge the lightning and water projectiles. The man on the steed raised his hand and a boulder grew above his palm. He threw his arm and the boulder flew for the masked man whose sword blades began to glow in ki.
The boulder was sliced in half, the two pieces crashing on either side of the masked swordsman, leaving him unharmed. The man on the steed glared at his would-be killer, who stayed in place, almost asif he was taunting him.
“Assassin scum!” the man on the steed shouted.
The other guards chased after the masked man who melted into the shadows as he got away.
The horse moved forward, followed by the remaining guards. A streak came for the man on the steed again, much faster than the arrow. He hardly had enough time to dodge this one. He looked up on the roof to see another assassin.
“Ki infused throwing knives, watch out!”
More knifes came shooting out. The man on the steed covered his hand in rock, creating a makeshift rock gauntlet with three large fingers. He blocked and swatted away the throwing knives that were wreathed in ki while his guards shot attacks at the assassin, who kept dodging them.
“After him!” one of the guards said.
“No you fools!” their leader said as he two more throwing knives aimed for his face. “Don’t you see they’re trying to thin us out? Stay together and let’s move!”
The leader urged his horse to a run, while blocking one more knife aimed at him.
“I’m going to find out who these people are and I’m going to kill them!” the leader shouted as he made his way past the route. He had to stop unexpectedly as a wall was impeeding his path.
“A deadend?” the leader said, his eyes widening in shock. “That’s impossible!”
“Sir, it’s an Earth Wall!”
“Break it, Fool!” he said as he raised his hand, creating another earth boulder.
“Lights above!” someone said.
They all looked up to see two scrolls shiing as they were getting ready to shoot out lightning.
“N-No! They knew we would take this route! They tricked us!” The leader said before squezzing his hand, the boulder that was forming blew up, the shrapenel pircing the scrolls and stopping their attack.
They all noticed a building heat beneath them and saw three more scrolls, collecting fire. The night went bright yellow and was filled with burningmen screaming as a fire rose into the air.
