《The Awakened World》Vol. 3, Ch. 94: Fleeing

*Knock knock knock knock knock* Someone's pounding on my door. It's probably Thomas or Aria.
Ignoring the door, I continue packing. It was nice knowing you New York, not really, but I can't really stay here knowing that I practically induced a man into suicide.
It just weighs on my practically non-existent conscious. Though I have been developing that recently.
Does this make my a psychopath or sociopath? I don't know. I don't even know the difference, but if anybody finds out what I did, then I'm definitely fired.
*CRASH* The sound of splintering wood and falling metal come from my doorway. I honestly don't think this apartment is going to be able to stay in one piece at this rate.
Oh Dreamer, what will the landlord say?
A segmented, steel tentacle flies through the air, peering around. The red light beam inspecting each nook and cranny until it sees me.
Yeah, that's Thomas. Only he would try and succeed in making comic book villain tech a reality.
I eye the dagger on my nightstand. It won't do much, but anything is better than nothing. I leap for it, practically grasping the handle, but it leaps out of my own hands.
Spiders. Thousands of them. All no larger than a grain of rice. However, enough of them to form a humanoid shape of someone I know dear—Sophia, obviously. Who else do I know that uses spiders?
There's still the clawed gauntlets in my suitcase, and yet, the second I look at them, the suitcase goes up in flames. Wait… "SHIT!" I grab a towel and try suffocating the azure flames quickly spreading to my bed.
They just won't extinguish. Fuck! My bed! My clothes!
I turn to glare at the dragonewt girl standing under the robo-arm. Her face is quickly paling with guilt I can actively feel. The assumed-to-be-Thomas's arm somehow manages to convey disappointment even through a single lens.

Thomas walks in, eight of the arms visibly retreating into his torso. Wearing a welding mask and wielding a fire extinguisher, he coats the remainder of my not-charred belongings in foam.
"Okay." I take a deep breath. "I'm no longer contemplating leaving, but now I want to commit several murders."
Nora edges out of frame, but Thomas teleports behind her and grabs her shoulder. He looks pissed, but not as much as I'm feeling right now.
"I already don't have much," I drawl, "but you just took away what I had."
Why didn't I think of this earlier?
I raise my hand to my right, keeping my eyes locked with Thomas, and will a knife towards me.
*Crash* The sound of something ceramic breaking meets us. A knife doesn't come into my hand, but instead lodges itself in Thomas's temple.
"Oh," he states. "That's not good."
With a slight tug, the knife is removed from his cranium, and his silver nanobots cover up the injury and camouflage themselves, leaving it spotless.
"Alice, I know you're reasonably angry right now. But, uh…damn. I prepared a different speech on the way here."
"What about?" I cross my arms over my chest.
"Something about how you really shouldn't feel bad about Wilcox's death, but should still wield your power correctly. Then, Nora decided to feed her inner arsonist and now I've done this, and… Sophia's raiding your fridge. Ehh- Gah!" He tries to strangle the air with his hands.
"Ugh. Fine. Just…Alice, I'll pay for all of this," he gestures around. The thousands of spiders have made several sandwiches and consumed them. Dang, now I have to get bread too. "So, free shopping spree, but I also want you to take some…advice from us.

Just…please. Think about your actions. To be honest, inducing a senator towards suicide isn't that bad. If it were anyone else, you'd be on a one-way trip to the sun. You have power. Be aware of that now."
"Hopefully, you don't get a bad class-up option from this," he mumbles. Classes? Are those… uh…
"Thomas? I, uh— What's a class?"
"You know, that thing that gives you specialized skills, stats, and titles and junk." He waves me off, then blinks. Blinks again. Turns towards me. Stares. "Alice." He swallows. "Do you not have a class?"
"No," I shrug. "Plus, after my first evolution, nothing's happened. I'd expect more from my level-ups."
Spiders-Sophia perks up. She-It-They? Whatever Sophia is right now glides over towards me, peeking around.
Nora, the scamp, decides that this is the opportune moment to flee. Noticing this, Thomas yanks her back by her wings. "Oh no you don't! You're not getting out of this one scot-free!"
Thomas turns back to me, a struggling Nora under his arm. "I wonder…normally, monsters would get an evolution into a class. You…went the other way around. Could it have possibly thrown an error into the system?"
I shrug. "Don't know, but I still want you guys out of my apartment. I'm probably going to have to explain to my neighbors what the noise was."
Thomas looks at the walls, back and forth, eyeing the growing mold in the corner. "Yeah… Once you get an official paycheck, I'd suggest moving out of here."
"That's…a plan. Yeah." I'm…such a bad hero. Ready to flee after about just a month. My mom was right… I—Why me? Why was I given this power? I'll just squander it again…
Thomas and I stand there…awkwardly. He begins rocking back and forth on his heels, ignoring the still-struggling Nora. "Welp! I guess we'll just, uh, leave. Sorry about the mess, but, uh, do think on our words. Try to avoid manipulating people."
With that, they're gone… I sigh, staring at the floor, then I stomp the floor in growing anger.
Dang it! I need them to train my own teleportation skill. Thomas didn't help last time, because of his brain-virus. Plus, I'd like to get more magic under my belt.
Just water and earth aren't exactly cutting it for me anymore.
Turning to my charred bed, I stare. It's all just…ash.
So many things have changed in my life recently, but it all feels like I've remained stagnant. Still the emotionless girl sitting in the corner of the office, making sure the company's filing its taxes correctly.
Still the girl in college with…two of her best friends. One the social butterfly, the other a shut-in, and me…in-between.
Still the girl in high school who never hung out with anyone outside of school. Only listened to other kids in school. A wallflower, essentially. I never even paid attention to any of the various fights around school.
The girl with an absent father who betrayed her mother. A mother who eventually became a police captain, abused her power, and became the definition of a helicopter parent. Almost to the point of being abusive.
And now, here I stand, static to the dynamic world.
Agh! I'm an emotional mess right now.
I need Maddy.

Summon Imp!
Travel with a newly born demon as he grows and learns in his own world as well as in other worlds as he gets summoned again and again. Usually to die or kill for others in strange and exciting places, but it's never certain what the next one will bring. It has its perks. With each new world comes a new story with new experiences and new lessons. There is always more to see, more to learn and more to know. Maybe, someday, it will all make sense. For now he will just work hard to become stronger, to be useful and, hopefully, survive that way. A coming-of-age story, but different. Things start to slow down to a crawl. Colors blur into one another until my vision is completely white. All I can think is "Shit, not this again!" I hate being summoned. _________________________________ updates once a week until I get more time The idea for this story began in two places. One was the ridiculously rapid pace of gaining power in many novels. Both in games and in novels, I enjoy the struggle of the beginning character, why always the rush? The other was the way many monster or non-human MCs always seem to hurry to become human (again). It always felt like a cheap way to grant the character extra powers without the difficulty of writing a non-standard thought process. Thus I wanted to write the slow(ish) progression of a monster character gaining strength and intelligence, while remaining distinctly non-human. There are no stats, xp or systems, no reincarnated soul or completely formed being to start with - unless I want to make fun of those. While the MC 'evolves', the process takes months if not years to proceed step by little step. Sit down with me and imagine, what would it be like if...
8 169Young bloods (WIP)
" So-called leaders prostituted their people to wars and abuse. They destroyed families, culture and economies; their hands dyed red by the blood of the children, the families trampled by their lecherous motivations and diabolical war machines. Trained and taught by the Revenants or rather “young bloods” from their war-torn world, we were going to build a better world for us and for the later generations, a world when there shall be no more wars waged over territory, a world where boys and girls can frolic around for all of eternity." -Sasha, Terutan regular army cadet. ‘History is determined by the victors, and here we stand transcended over those who abused us. History is filled with liars, broken promises of eternal prosperity and peace. The more things change, the more things stayed the same: ideology change, location shift but power will always find a place to rest its head. We fought and bled for the adults, the grown men and women who preached of us being their future, preached us of the freedom from tyranny and slavery; no wonder why we hated them so. History is determined by the victor, and there shall be no victors when we’re done.’- Yulia Bronskavya, Red Army Homeguard. As the first modern war came to a close in November 1st, 1918, rows of passed juveniles laid the battlefields. In the name of some royal fat cats or some shitty national leader, cruelty and crimes were committed against the weak and the vulnerable younglings; in other words, adults were assholes. Their deaths marked a new beginning, a new beginning in a strange and magical land that was and had only been dreamt of in stories and folk tale, they had arrived to Terruta. The first ones regarded themselves as Revenants, heroes who had been able to be reborn in this world and began their adventure to explore this strange foreign land. However, “every coin have two sides, like everyone have two faces”. 'As they left their former life behind, the young soldiers and operators found themselves being deceived, abused and taken advantaged off again by the elders of this world. Many were abused, tortured, raped and sold to slavery, Revenants were quite sought after due to their timeless charm, strength, intellect and immortality, they were unable to be killed no matter what; many were bought and used as pets, slaves and entertainers for their masters’ entertainment. Fed up with the similar treatment and abuse by the adults of this world, many revolted and founded ICC, International Cooperative Coalition.'-Sasaki Kotegawa, JSDF Private.

8 142Anti-Martial Academy: PRiSMA Saga (LN)
{A crossover based on a Visual Novel still in the works called ‘PRiSMA’, and heavily inspired by the Light Novel called ‘Anti-Magic Academy’. Thus, the plot and events are reminiscent of the latter.} The denizens of the underworld, Anima and long forgotten Martial Artists of the Murim, both allied with each other to fight humanity. Their attacks almost caused the fledgling Magi to become extinct. When heroes appeared to fight off the invading forces, the ‘First World Ender War’ finally came to a conclusion. In the stalemate that followed, the new Magi went through a technological revolution. In the current era of peace, the Anti-Martial Academy was made to fight off those Martial Artists infiltrating the Earthland Domain. In the present, the ‘Red Queen’ was demoted back into the Academy. Forced to join the ‘Support Squad’, a team of outcasts who can’t fight even to save their lives, the one most uncomfortable became Fritz Lazrik, the leader that seemed too much like a pushover. Wielding a MagiPen in hand, he has the small hope of being able to beat the ‘monster’ joining them. The start of their legend begins...————I have posted this on other sites.
8 86Breakout: What Did I Get Myself Into?
The world is normal, and I mean completely run of the mill. People do boring things all the time, like controlling wind, moving at mach speeds and becoming able to demolish a building in one punch after eating. What...that's not normal to you? This is a world where the abnormal happens every day, thanks to super powered mutants called "Pathos". Enter: Capital City: An infrastructure with constructed on the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Japan, the basis for a school system of which the goal was to educate the Pathos on controlling their power in a safe place while also protecting those without power from being harmed. If you graduate, you could even rule the City one day! ...Or you could just take advantage of the free student housing and perfect the art of being a shut-in... Join Reito Usodachi, a lax and jaded, but surprisingly strong 15 year old boy who's in way over his head, on his adventures in Capital City... The only problem is, he may falter a bit when he gets a grasp of how weird the people in the City actually are. Even though he's read his fair share of media and the like, no amount of reading Manga or playing games could've prepared him for this. Amateur writer here! Trying my best on my first Original English Light Novel! (On a short hiatus!)
